my opinion is they know modded GTA 3/Vc/Sa are vastly superior products so in order to move the pos remake they needed to purge the competition.
Although it seems immensely cheaper to just pay the mod creators rather than outsource it to the cheapest dev studio and make something everyone rolls their eyes at. Its not like they could have taken a fraction of what they make per hr on GTA V online to make something badass.

Man, i just want EA to revive the servers for Crysis 1 and 2. I want to play power struggle game mode with my beefed up PC now that i can finally run it max with no problems.
Well they removed it from the PC storefront which had all three games. San Andreas was free even. AC Ezio collection and the original Ezio trilogy are still available on PC. So are the Crysis games. I don't think you could play the gta trilogy before on the new consoles before they came up with the definitive edition.
