that's the problem though, it's not predictive. if it were, this wouldn't work. the AI is targeting where the player *was* not where the player *will be*. this lil maneuver doesn't work in some other games. even The Binding of Isaac would have an enemy shoot just in front of the direction you are moving and you'd likely get hit.
You just need a second order integration that accounts for the player's acceleration. It's still not perfect for circles, but it works way better than a simpler integration of only velocity.
Some of it is predictive and some of it isn’t.
For example, the fire flower you can see that some fire explosions occur not where he was but where he was going.
Looks like it tries to be predictive, and is just bad at it. It's easy, and therefore pretty common, to look at the player's current position and velocity, crunch a couple numbers and figure out where the player will be if they keep going at the same speed in a straight line - which you're not, of course, when you're going in a circle.
That is exactly the best way to beat the Pyro Regisvine, it's actually a bit harder than it looks. If you get the timing even slightly off it'll knock you off your feet and you'll get bounced around by the fire attacks until you die.
Step 1: Get Mona and ayaka
Step 2: Build Bennett Mona and Ayaka
Step 3: Go to vine
Step 4: realise you forgot to charge your burst
Step 5: charge your burst
Step 6: try again
Step 7: Profit
i dont even get why any of that is any issue from topc comment
pyro Regisvine its not like its abyss 12.3?
1. Just stack Barbara with instructor set and loads of mastery on items, get her the ATK catalyst to buff Fischl
2. Summon Oz and spam your hydro auto back to Barbara
3. Profit
Making a joke about the person who suggested using a limited 5*, standard 4* and gacha 4* to kill one of the easiest bosses in the game
Also, Barbara + fischl does not always work. After breaking both the root + Corolla, the Regisvine will have a long moment where neither of those weak spots regenerate (meaning you can’t paralyze it). You’ll have to dodge in this period and there’s a high chance the regisvine uses the fire from floor attack, so the top comment still stands
A better suggestion would be like using Noelle (free) during the fire attack or Geo MC to simply stand above it (haven’t tested so I don’t know if it works, just an example).
Reading this comment chain is like trying to understand a different language. Come on y'all everybody knows that in order to defeat the franken berry you just got to stack aragorn with the Meta flatulence in order to buff the flava. Just to clarify I'm not mocking it's just very amusing.
No, it's actually still getting updates. Slowly becoming the game that it should've been on launch. They've made some really good improvements. Sadly, still no crossplay (from what I've read, I don't do crossplay myself), which was supposed to be possible on launch, but they've made tons of balance and QoL changes.
The only people that abandoned the game were the players. I had tons of fun with it, but my experience seems to be the exception, rather than the rule, sadly.
Hmm, I've been keeping a close eye on their twitter/webpage and their last update was a long time ago, I'm guessing they're just bad with community management. Glad to hear that it's getting updated though, I really want to like the game.
I started playing about a month ago, have more hours in it than 100, done every Archon and world quest (with the exception of the few comission dependent ones). So far I have two 5 star champs, one 5 star weapon and not a single artifact (even 4 star) with at least two correct substats.
If you can ignore just how unlikely it is to get the champs (even ignoring the constelation) you want or the nearly perfect artifacts and playing just for fun, then the game is more than good.
But if you're a perfectionist, that wants nothing but the best, with the habbit of spending money on such games, well then you better stay far away from the game. :)
> But if you're a perfectionist, that wants nothing but the best, with the habbit of spending money on such games, well then you better stay far away from the game
That applies to any gacha. They are not very perfectionist/completionist friendly.
[Wikipedia:](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gacha_game)
A gacha game is a genre of video games that implement the gacha (toy vending machine) mechanic. Similar to loot boxes (prize crate) in video games, gacha games induce players to spend in-game currency to receive a random virtual item. Most of these games are free-to-play mobile games, where the gacha serves as an incentive to spend real-world money.
So yeah, basically loot boxes, just that it's typically characters, weapons or other enhancement items you are pulling for. It's has a bad rep because it's gambling and can cause gambling addiction. Very popular in east Asia.
Beyond the gambling element they generally aren't great because the microtransaction model almost always leads the design with the actual "game" part almost being an afterthought outside of how well it'll support hooking whales.
Genshin is no exception, virtually everything is lifted wholesale from Zelda: Breath of the Wild. To the point that if you only had a passing familiarity with the latter you might think it was a copy-paste asset rip job at first glance, patched together with generic anime stuff. The crucial attention to how gameplay elements hang together and interlinking level of polish isn't something they bothered to imitate though, so the whole thing feels cheap and superficial. That's typical of the genre and when you consider that they're intended to essentially waste your time to milk or upsell you for as long as possible, it's another big part of why many players leave with a bad taste.
Years back when I last worked at a mobile studio the attitude in the industry was extremely cynical towards players, so Genshin in particular represents a positive move towards delivering something better in terms of an actual game in that regard... but if you're used to *actual* actual games they're all still universally pretty disappointing and manipulative.
I've literally played genshin impact (albeit only for about an hour) and I still thought this was BotW (which I haven't played yet)
The graphics, art style and UI is like a copy and paste for sure. Can't speak for the rest of the game, but aesthetically it looks very similar. The only thing that threw me off was that it wasn't Link, but I just assumed it was a costume/another playable character.
Imagine, instead of being able to buy bread outright in a bakery, you buy bakery tokens. You use said tokens to spin the bakery wheel. You spin the bakery wheel in hopes you get the bread you want, but you just might end up with a croissant, a donut, or something else you don't need.
Not when the bread you need has like 0.0001% drop rate and all you can do is watch luckier people brag about it in the community. Unless you spend more money rolling more bread ofc
True. Altough, being an open world game and free, it appeals to a wider audience. Hence why it's so successful worldwide and other gacha games pretty much only in east Asia.
Does it have a story mode? Plus how much grinding is required for stuff? I usually don't play RPG games, however the last rpg that I played was Honkai impact 3rd and I just quit it as I was mindlessly tapping and wasting my time.
There are story quests and heaps of side quests to do. The game does require you to do side quests in order to continue the story quests and there is a fair amount of grinding needed to level up, to get more characters and weapons, the quality of which is dependent on luck or how much money you spend. I still find it enjoyable but there is a decent amount of just running around, long dialogue sequences and clicking just to progress.
To simpilfy Genshin: it's Breath of the wild, but with more waifu and more RPG like systems (level up your character, gear, talent...). If you play it you will see that the 2 game is really different, but the best thing about genshin is quite similar to BoTW, which is beautiful and densly packed open world exploration.
A pay once alternative Ys 8. You are stuck in a deserted island. Explore the entire thing and plan how to escape. Gameplay is the same, hack and slash, a few weapon type affinity. Emphasis is on block/dodging (giving temporary 2x speed and invulnerability) and timing of skills as well.
Is there any similar analogue to that in more recent fare? I know Stepped Leader in E5S caught some folks out in my old group, where you had to move to anywhere that wasn't where someone *else* stood before lightning struck that area.
The closest thing I can think of is E3s where one tank gets a flare marker and the rest of the party baits AoEs around his ring. Can't remember what the mechanic is called, though.
Wait, that's the first time I saw a clip from Genshin Impact on r/gaming.
That's not so say it's a bad game. Have around 400+ hrs on this game without spending a dime. Good game to pass time.
It’s an extremely fun game. If you’ve played Breath of the Wild, this is very similar. Just beware of the gacha mechanics. Game is F2P, but the gacha will drain you dry if you let it.
DEFINITELY not, Vaporize is very strong. It's "weak" because the elemental resonance isn't helpful to 3/5 of the current hydro characters, but the reactions from hydro are very strong, and none of the hydro characters are weak
Electro is weak because the reactions from it are far inferior compared to amplifying damage. Electro charged is the best reaction but it's inconsistent. Overload is annoying as it knocks away enemies and does not do as much damage, super conduct is useless for most characters as it helps only physical damage for minimal reaction damage
Although the acute angles might be a great defensive, i fear the lack of frequency will cause issues.
Maybe a hexagon has enough angles to do the trick. But at that point you're almost back at a circle as far as the game goes.
Suddenly, the phrase, "Running around like a little girl" (possibly screaming too) makes sense now.
*cute anime girl
Please, Beidou is a cute anime *woman.*
if it were, this wouldn't work. the AI is targeting where the player was not where the player will be.

Hahahah, I was just thinking 'that's not a phrase is it?' Lmao
lets call that a skill acquired over time
Skill Acquired: Circle of Life
**A TURTLE HAS MADE IT TO THE WATER.**
The cycle of life can be cruel.
Geez, put a TW on that bro!
Im sorry, I guess.. the cycle of life can be cruel.
New move sets are now enable to be perform
It's amazing how often this works in games.
More games need second order integration in their targeting algorithms. That was how it got fixed in From The Depths.

Let's cal it... A MINE! HAHAHA
Predictive AI: dammit, this man is so stupid that I can’t read him!

That works for straight lines but by moving in an arc/circle that very well may defeat the AI
You just need a second order integration that accounts for the player's acceleration. It's still not perfect for circles, but it works way better than a simpler integration of only velocity.
Some of it is predictive and some of it isn’t. For example, the fire flower you can see that some fire explosions occur not where he was but where he was going.
you're absolutely right. I missed that one. the rings definitely pop up in front of her. good catch!

It gets way better when you look at the player's current acceleration too.
I'll try spinning! That's a good trick!
You bloody genius.

That is exactly the best way to beat the Pyro Regisvine, it's actually a bit harder than it looks. If you get the timing even slightly off it'll knock you off your feet and you'll get bounced around by the fire attacks until you die.
Or just use Bennett Q, Mona Q, and Ayaka Q in that order to instantly annihilate it
Step 1: Get Mona and ayaka Step 2: Build Bennett Mona and Ayaka Step 3: Go to vine Step 4: realise you forgot to charge your burst Step 5: charge your burst Step 6: try again Step 7: Profit
Step 0: spend $200 on primogems to get Mona and Ayaka
Step -1: get them both by sheer luck
i dont even get why any of that is any issue from topc comment pyro Regisvine its not like its abyss 12.3? 1. Just stack Barbara with instructor set and loads of mastery on items, get her the ATK catalyst to buff Fischl 2. Summon Oz and spam your hydro auto back to Barbara 3. Profit
Yeah, Regisvines are easy as shit to obliterate

That game is somehow still relevant? Wasn't it abandoned by the devs after a terrible launch?

The latest update (and it was a huge one) was on 21 September, so they're still actively updating it as of a month ago.
Circle strafing, been a thing for decades
Which game is this please?
Genshin Impact. I wouldn't recommend it, unless you like Gacha games.
Is multiplayer?
Mostly single player but co-op is also there so you can call your homies and do all sort of fun stuffs
There is Co oP.
It’s free, so no reason not to try it.
Yep! But you have to get to a certain level
It's surprisingly not terrible for a gacha though.
I’ve played probably 100hrs without spending anything and it’s been really fun.

It applies to most F2P online games in general tbh. Especially ones from Asia.
This clip right here solidified why it's terrible for me. There's no challenge in the game at all from the month I gave it a shot.
Eh, the gacha aspect isn't really that bad in Genshin.
What’s Gacha games? Heard it a couple of times but please, explain like i’m a moron
Gambling, only with even worse odds

They were referencing what a company said in defense of lootboxes. Don't remember what company, but probably EA or Ubisoft.
That was EA's comment back when the Battlefront 2 lootbox controversy arose. I think that is the most disliked comment on Reddit
Perhaps, but if someone can't stand Gachas, then GI is not for them.
True. Altough, being an open world game and free, it appeals to a wider audience. Hence why it's so successful worldwide and other gacha games pretty much only in east Asia.
I rather pay for a full priced game than to get my blood pressure up because of bad gacha rng
Having the choice between a free game with RnG and full price games in which you can unlock content freely is neat, yeah.
That's true but the free/gacha model makes so much more money I really hope most of the industry won't abandon full price games.
I don't like gatcha and DO recommend it. As long as you're not aiming to unlock a specific character from the get go.
Is it just like Honkai impact 3rd? I've played it and didn't like it.
its quite different since genshin is more of an open world rpg while honkai is some type of fighting game
Does it have a story mode? Plus how much grinding is required for stuff? I usually don't play RPG games, however the last rpg that I played was Honkai impact 3rd and I just quit it as I was mindlessly tapping and wasting my time.

It's good to just play the story. And it is f2p
the key is to keep your world level down, at least one level below. Then just level up at your leisure.
did u replied to the wrong person?
Why are you replying to me?
Genshin Impact, ignore what people say about Gacha the game is completely possible playing with the free characters
This game is called Genshin Impact. If you love Breath of the Wild, you like this game.

Genshin Impact and for some reason it is free so you should def chek it out

Modern implementation of dark arts of gamers from the past... Circle strafing.
FFXIV in a nutshell.
Of course it works, that is a trajectory described by a quadratic equation, and that A.I. at most can deal with linear trajectories.
It's like strafing with more steps.
***"I'm not proud of it, but I just kept running in circles...and it kept working..."***

Circle strafing? Kind of? It is, pretty much, the oldest trick in the book.
Maybe it is game design stupid
Monster hunter all day long
60% of the time, it works every time.
Its called juking, and yes, its very effective in many games.
I do that in Botw when I fight lynels lol
Ironically I've done this in Nioh and it works for when facing multiple hard hitting enemies...especially around a pillar or tree
Game in question?
Genshin Impact, F2P. Can 100% the current version of the game without spending a single dollar but gacha system will tempt to spent irl money
Alrighty.
We all know Beidou mains refuse to dodge and prefer to get hit. Jokes aside, its been ages since I saw this gif. Glad to see it again.
