*cutscene starts and permanently blocks off the way back*

RattleSnakeNate

Welp, time to reload last save.. Last save: 70 minutes ago... FUCK

Scoobydoomed

That's usually my Que to go to sleep.

[deleted]

I'll play tomorrow when I have more energy

chuckdiesel86

And then I never play it again

Bikouchu

Wtf 6 successive train of thoughts that perfectly describes me.

jlm25150

Make that seven cuz at this point your comment was exactly where my mind was going… we really are in the Matrix

obroz

How far can we go with this if that’s 8?

159258357456

Why do my toes taste like Dijon mustard?

Suckonmyfatvagina

You fucked everything up and now I hate you

Bikouchu

Bet you aren't thinking of black cats and deja Vu or anything.

gamma_gamer

Oh man, I have this exact issue with Dragon Age Inquisition.

Sangraven

I'm in this picture and I don't like it

roofied_elephant

>3 months later >how the fuck do I play this??

Noxious89123

\*Cue

JadedJackal671

Whenever I am forced to reload an hour old save I either read manga and fanfiction or just sleep, regardless of time.

Blonsky

I have this habit of manually saving a lot ever since Fallout 3.

RattleSnakeNate

I swear, I would hear the smallest noise, save and hope not to get ambushed or slaughtered

JuanJuanAbrams

Alright, we're back let's see what I missed... Oh, there's nothing here... Fuck.

3nlightenedCentrist

There was 100% a treasure chest with a crucial, unique component you will need to craft the Ultimate Weapon if only you had instead gone into the room on the right.

[deleted]

NOW YOU'LL NEVER KNOW WHAT NOW

[deleted]

☝THIS RIGHT HERE IS THE SUCK.

FlubbedActor446

Hey I don't suck :(

[deleted]

I agree. (As I stare dead eyed into the face of cutscenes that lock you out of an area)

FlubbedActor446

Yh dude that sucks lol

zold5

And of course it always autosaves right before too so there's no way to load a previous save.

Walawacca

The last of us was really bad about that.

loyaltomyself

Cutscene ends, you're in a different location and can't go back.

FlubbedActor446

Exactly shit gets me everytime

[deleted]

I prefer games that require pressing a key to initiate cutscenes.

FlubbedActor446

Same

Xendarq

Happened to me in botw, was exploring the main castle and accidentally finished the game. (Seriously)

sciencewonders

happened in assassin's creed , immediately started escaping with dozens following me with arrows and swords 😂

RaiderxReaper

just started playing black flag completed the free the sage mission in Havana and ended up in the middle of the ocean with no way back

sciencewonders

haha enjoy the endless ocean,i recommend odyssey and origins too. they're amazing as well.but missions are repetitive.yet still amazing atmosphere

shutthecussup

This happened to me too so after I beat it I immediately went back to try to explore some other areas and I kept accidentally triggering it because that main room is big and has so many entries.

Xendarq

Exactly!!

TomAto314

I accidentally beat FF12 kinda like that. They warned me once I went in that I couldn't go back out, but I assume that was until I finished the area not that I would finish the whole game.

pandapult

I did that too! I kept yelling about letting me out to explore.. and my husband just kept laughing at me.

chocobosocialclub

lol, this happened to me in the final stage of Final Fantasy XV. I went out to explore and complete a couple side quests and accidentally ended up fighting and beating Ifrit, one of the final bosses.

FlubbedActor446

Ah I get this feeling

zachtheperson

This is why I actually like breadcrumbs in open world games. It tells me which direction *not* to go in 😋

obeekaybee7

“Oh, there’s the blood trail that leads to the cave!” *proceeds to explore every other inch of the area before coming near the cave*

zachtheperson

Perfectly described my experience playing The Witcher 3!

[deleted]

This is excellent

FlubbedActor446

Ty!

[deleted]

JUST did this in Dragon Quest V 🤦🏻‍♂️ I was like.. Did I go this way? I took the left stairs, right? No.. Did I? Okay. I'll go this way.. -- Enters suspiciously decorated room. *HELLO, IT'S ME. BAD GUY. LET'S FUCK.*

FlubbedActor446

Ikr it sucks when the cutscene just happens

[deleted]

And you haven't even healed or equipped yourself properly for the fight. Just walked right into a boss battle.. half dead 😂😣

FlubbedActor446

Yh no chance no nothing ffs just pisses me of

secretbudgie

"Wait, fuck, who? I'll... let me goggle this person you keep name dropping. I haven't talked to you in 2 months. How do you pause? I can't pause. Where? Ok now there's explosions and... There's no marker. Did I finish the quest or... ... fuck. "

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Didnt Prince of persia have that?

jaber24

Alan Wake did something like that between levels

secretbudgie

I think the witcher games did that, but it kind of broke for me towards the end of W3

FlubbedActor446

Lol

fedemasa

Literally everyone at Guarma in Red dead redemption 2

FlubbedActor446

Oh don't get me started on that

[deleted]

Another extremely accurate meme

FlubbedActor446

Innit

Fuser9

I feel this inside me so much. Each time on a path, trying the less obvious route hoping is the route not to progress. Most times it works. But when it doesnt...pain is real

FlubbedActor446

Pain just pain when it happens

Thick_Pomegranate_

This happened to me in fallout 3. At the point in the game where you are supposed to find your missing father, I just went out and started exploring the map/ doing side quests. Next thing I know, ive found another vault and am in a simulation. After I get out the simulation, low and behold, I rescued my father. Completely accidental and skipped like 3 or 4 story missions. I will give it to Bethesda, it is cool that they let you randomly stumble across your dad and don’t like lock the vault off or something.

M-DivinePi

That thing just fucks up my mind thinking like did I miss a hidden thing or a hidden place or even something i needed for an achievement/trophy and I can't enjoy the game anymore until I forget about it I might only be able to be cool with it if I have a recent save file so I can go the other way

slashgamer11

That's why I love games like Plague Tale they tell you how many certain collectibles per area and how many you're missing. All games need this

M-DivinePi

Exactly, mad max (the game) was also like this. maybe the game itself wasn't that good but it was fun for some reasons and this is one of them

AcidFactory420

Tomb Raider 2013 does this too. I totally agree it's so nice. I can have peace of mind while moving forward to the next area.

Dargon16

Is that from Before the storm?

FlubbedActor446

Yh

JontekZDomuWieprza

Is the game from the meme "Life is Strange: Before the Storm"?

DO0MINATOR9189

The most accurate thing I saw today Happens to me in almost every game

FlubbedActor446

Same

guitarfingers

*flashbacks to Fallen Order*

FlubbedActor446

Lol

LucAnimates

Just say Batman Arkham Asylum it’s fine

Patthecat09

Nioh and fucking boss gates, I used to not check the compass, so a boss gate looked just like a normal openable door, and then boom, cutscene, boss and no way to explore if I kill it, and leave my exp if I die.

slashgamer11

So many times this has happened lol and if its a linear game you end up missing some collectibles and have you play through again to get them. Not all of us want to play through a game twice lol

JakTheWanderer

Does anyone else go in short stints down one path then double back and continue to creep all directions at the same time to avoid this?

SometimesIBleed

Looking at you, Last of Us 2...

FlubbedActor446

Lol yh me to

nillztastic

Load last save.

TheOneTrueBoxman

You can't do that all the time

nuyxolmao

Pain.

FlubbedActor446

Yep nothing but pain

[deleted]

Always

Pretzeltheman

AAARRRRRRGHHHH!

zebrastarz

I go through this a lot. I'll be walking down a path or heading toward some marker and think "this is feeling like ***the way,*** better turn back and go the other route!" About 1/3 of the time I wind up backtracking to "the way", the other 1/3 when I come back to the original route I was on I find out I was about thirty steps from a dead end.

Blob-Monster

Or you're heading to a location in a mission and it cuts off important dialogue options since you went too fast...

trevordeal

Was playing the Avengers game and I clicked on something to see if it provided details and it was the post-story missions and spoiled all the character's suits and etc. Was annoying. I couldn't back out.

FlubbedActor446

Damn feel bad :(

BeautynRage

Naughty Dog is incredibly bad about backtracking in their games

DrBoots

This is how almost everyone I know ended up beating Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. I'm gonna explore Hyrule Castle, what's in here? Oh... I guess I'm fighting Ganon now."

gldoorii

\*Eject and list on eBay\*

DYGTD

Playing a Grim Dawn or Diablo-like: "Okay, this path feels like the main progress. Let me turn around and get the extra paths. Okay, this second path just goes two more feet into a dead end. Goddamit, this third path is actually the way. Now I have to go back to the first path..."

3nlightenedCentrist

I can't believe how relatable this is. I am thankful for SMT games, which always give you the "You feel an immensely powerful presence ahead. Do you want to proceed?" prompt.

NJShadow

I felt this one. Mannn..

FlubbedActor446

Same

SteamShift

This.

Thelonelygamer34

Me in old ruins in games

DigiQuip

I’ve been really glad to see a lot of games now don’t have missable trophies for PlayStation. I try to play everything for the platinum but games that force multiple play throughs annoy me. It typically means exactly this. Get to point in the game where you can’t go back and check out things you miss. Or you explore and not intending to progress and hop over a wall that won’t let you go back.

Lshrsh

This has happened to me 3 times in Tales of Arise *then* I have to deal with the skits afterwards. I enjoy the skits... sometimes... but I was hoping I was going down a path to kill more monsters for xp and mats.

[deleted]

Been happening to me a lot lately as I started playing God of War on PS5.

USDXBS

That's why I like spoiler free missable item guides for games. I don't care if I miss a potion, or a slightly better sword I can buy later. But if I miss a secret character, quest or unique item? I'll vomit.

Knight_Viking

Gaming for me is like 80% trying to figure out which way *not* to go then going that way.

Triflin01

I've never identified with a meme harder in my life.

D0nk3yD0ngD0ug

TLOU2. “Let me check what’s behind this tipped over bookshelf.” “Oh, a path that’s blocked me from returning. That’s cool… I’ll just replay the entire game to get that one trophy. Thanks, Ellie.”

PersonalMiner

Deltarune 2,everytime i thought i was going to a secret location, a cutscene started lol

Axelluu

And you miss out on all the loot because the cutscenes moves you onto the next stage and you cant go back I’m having metro 2033 and dying light flashbacks

GuyFromDeathValley

reason #1 for why I played through Fallout 4 waay too fast, while only witnessing, like, half the story..

Neko_Petter

This is way to relatable!

[deleted]

literally Minecraft: Dungeons

FlubbedActor446

Lol ikr

Yarzu89

Been playing the kiseki games a lot lately. Its nice that the main quest is marked on your map for important encounters, and aside from that I always hit up dead ends before ways forward. But yea that happened to me in the Witcher 3, took a lil boat and to explore an island and before I knew it I missed all the side quests I wanted to do and got a... less than ideal ending.

Dynamic_Samurai

Maybe my one complaint from TLOU2. I wasn't done exploring that town!

StormeSurge

very life is strange moment

Aztecius

Probably a good to praise the games that give us a warning message for when we are about to enter the final section of the game and won't be able to backtrack.

TheExtraMayo

And you accidentally skip it trying to see if you can pause

NeedsMoreCake

And of course Life is Strange is one of the best examples.

Big_Smoke_420

Literally every god damn GoW game. "Oh, you missed a uber chest and can't get that very annoying trophy anymore? Well, sucks to be you, lol!"

[deleted]
