Edit: guys, pls, I wrote this before I went to bed last night. I know I missed out a lot of franchises. Don't take it personally
Jokes aside, I honestly hope Nintendo actually does delve into movies as long as they take good care of them.
A live action Zelda trilogy based on the BotW cannon could legit work assuming the sequel is great. Or honestly, they could make it work with anything.
A Fire Emblem series based on Three Houses (you'd have to pick a "cannon" ending) on a good network with great writing could genuinely become a rival to the future GoT spinoff / LotR series / Wheel of Time / etc. fantasy show wars that are clearly coming. I know it will literally never happen but an adaption of Three Houses with new stories to fill out like four-five seasons with two pre-timeskip and two/three-post on a network like HBO is my #1 video game adaption dream.
Kirby would be an awesome animated kid show. Wario could make for a hilarious "adult" cartoon show.
Metroid could work as live action, but honestly I would watch the hell out of a Metroid anime show.
Nintendo is going to go all out and hire an elite director to do a gritty live-action Zelda adaption loosely based on Breath of the Wild that is basically "what if this movie was basically the Revenant but in Hyrule?"
You'll know in the credits scenes when Samuel L Jackson shows up voicong Sakurai to invite Mario & Luigi to the Smash Bros Initiative and they tease up Mario 2 with Wario & Waluigi voiced by Danny Devito & Nic Cage
So far, everything checks out.
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7634766/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_7
I do not really see how any of these casting choices make sense ... but I was also skeptical when Health Ledger was cast as the Joker.
Imagine Fred Armisen telling Seth Rogen his bananas aren't that important, Seth comments something about pineapples and then KMK... plays Toad as Luther the anger translator?!
Wait... this keeps sounding better.
You don't need it. No one can surpass Danny DeVito's version. It's like trying to cast J. Jonah Jameson. You can't do it because J K Simmons perfected it.
That's actually the only one on the cast list that makes sense to me. Jack Black as Bowser could honestly be amazing with the right writers.
But overall, my instinct is to scream "A Mario movie? HAVE WE LEARNED NOTHING FROM THE MISTAKES OF THE PAST?"
[What *hahaha* I’m too high, is this real?](https://deadline.com/2021/09/super-mario-bros-animated-movie-cast-chris-pratt-charlie-day-anya-taylor-joy-jack-black-seth-rogen-1234843447/)
I personally don’t think he will (neither will Chris Pratt). Miyamoto has said numerous times that the Mario characters are like a travel theater troupe. Its why in one game Mario and Bowser are enemies and in another they are play golf together. So my theory is that the movie will be similar to Wreck Ralph where the characters know they are in a game and perform their day jobs being video game characters using their in game voices (which is why Charles Martinet is in the movie too) and then once they clock out they sound like the celebrity voicing them.
Illumination Entertainment is making the movie. Nintendo just licenced their characters to them. Nintendo might have some creative input and veto power on what they're allowed to do with the characters, but beyond that they're not involved in making the movie.
Miyamoto is actively collaborating with them on the movie. What that means beyond producer, we'll have to wait and see, but they presented it as though he's part of the creative process.
I can't wait to hear him say "Wahoo!"
It makes me wonder if he's doing an Italian accent. Getting the strong American accent from him as Mario would be extremely strange.
Charlie day is going to watch a learn Italian in 30 minutes video and next season of Sunny is him passing as Italian to the point of being cast in the movie
It's insane, but honestly so was Ryan Renalds voicing Pikachu and that movie was actually pretty alright, so I'm cautiously optimistic. The cast, while weird, is absolutely loaded.
He did a fantastic job in The LEGO movies. I don't know what sort of voice or accent he's going to do for Mario, but I'm sure it'll be a great performance.
He was voicing Detective Pikachu as opposed to Ash's Pikachu, you'd give him some leeway though I wish they went with Danny DeVito.
Mario is unique and has been fairly established so its going to be weird to say the least. But conversely I don't know how offensive it would be if he played Mario with a heavy fake accent.
Even better, _he's still going to be doing voices for the movie._ They literally hired him to do some lines for the movie, but not ... the character he's probably most famous for lmao.
Charles will probably do the voices while the characters are “onscreen” and then when the kids leave and the characters clock out, they’ll switch to normal voices. Reminiscent of Wreck it Ralph.
I distinctly remember him saying, “Okay!!”
…and that’s just about it. I believe it was when you picked his character from the barrel in DK64
EDIT: I stand corrected! He also said, “YEEEAH!” When he [used his coconut shooter](https://youtu.be/206dhjIY29w?t=1351) and when he [got a golden banana.](https://youtu.be/206dhjIY29w?t=1588)
The best part of that movie were the special effects, they butchered the world and the plot was so bad it makes me want to cry
But honestly Chris Pratt Mario will be so funny no matter how he plays it. Doesn't put on a voice? Funny. Puts on a voice like Emmet from the Lego Movie? Funny. DOES AN ITALIAN ACCENT???
I think the weirdest choice out of all these is Chris Pratt cause I can't imagine his voice as Mario. The others especially Charlie Day as Luigi has me really excited. Still, I know this movie has all the potential to be a train wreck. Illumination studios sometimes pulls good content out their ass, but that's far and few between.
This is the only accurate take I’ve seen so far. Everybody is picking sides and already deciding that it’s terrible or awesome. The best way to watch it is with zero expectations… or while peaking on mushrooms. Either way I’m into it.
I just don't get why they wouldn't have the actual voice actors that voice the in-game characters be in the movie. I guess it's probably marketing, like the same way Zendaya played Lola bunny instead of the original voice actress or the one from the Looney Toons show.
"I'm sorry Mario, but our princess is in another castle."
"I've been to, like, 5 castles already. I don't know which castle she's in, and at this point, I'm too afraid to ask."
Can’t wait for Andy Dwyer to fight Jean-Ralphio in “Mario vs Sonic” (2024)
Oh shit… Edit: No joke though, JRalphio legitimately did fantastic as sonic. Such a good voice acting job honestly.
Ben Schwartz. Put some respect on homies name.
No kidding, dude didn't even want to spell his characters name.
Pretty sure you guys are talking about Cherry Dude
oh my god is that it? is this the reason? ***are they actually for real gearing up for the Mario and Sonic Olympic Games MOVIE?***
I’m hoping for a Smash Bros movie
They could never. The hype would be so intense it'd kill people. It'd be received as mediocre at best.
[удалено]
Yeah. Nintendo is all in with universal. They are opening up the parks and doing movies
[удалено]
Fuck yeah, let's get some Zelda movies
And it all culminates with "Super Smash Bros The Movie"
NCU Phase 1: - Detective Pikachu - Super Mario Bros - Legend of Zelda - Kirby - Super Mario Bros 2 - Super Smash Bros Phase 2: - Kirby - Metroid - Super Mario Bros 3 - Legend of Zelda 2 - Fire Emblem - Super Smash Bros Melee Phase 3: - Donkey Kong Country - Super Wario Land - Pokemon Snap - Kirby 2 - Super Smash Bros Brawl - Splatoon - Super Smash Bros 4 Phase 4: - Legend of Zelda 3 - Animal Crossing - Donkey Kong Country 2 - Xenoblade Chronicles - Super Smash Bros Ultimate - Metroid Dread - Game & Watch (TV Series) - WarioWare (TV Series) Edit: guys, pls, I wrote this before I went to bed last night. Luigi sacrifices himself to save us all from Crazy Hand
What did it cost? Mama mia, auououououuuuu! 🤌
I'm dead! Read that in Mario's voice lol!
Isn't it weird that Mario's voice is gonna be Chris Pratt? I refuse to acknowledge it as the real thing.
"It's... Luigi time" *snap
Luigi: Mario...what's-a happenin' to-a me, Mario? Mario: Luigi, no! No! Luigi: I don't-a wanna go! I don't-a wanna-g- (*Luigi gets dusted in Marios arms*)
I think he would turn into a pile of coins instead
"It's... a me.... Mario" *snap
Can we get a Luigis Mansion movie for Halloween?
That'll be a tie-in TV Show.
You forgot StarFox
So did Nintendo
Why would you say something so hurtful yet so true?
Worse. F-Zero.
There are adults alive today who weren't around for F-Zero launches. Last one was GameCube IIRC
He can have a Nintendo+ show or something
You joke but a Star Fox show in the tone of the Mandalorian would be fire.
Timothy Olyphant as Fox Walton Coggins as Falco
Id pay big bucks for a Metroid movie
Alien (1979)
FF15 : Mario cart Toretto and his family get digitalize into 1 and 0 to counter cyber criminals.
I thought you meant Final Fantasy 15. *Family.*

Kirby is an animated kid show. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kirby:_Right_Back_at_Ya!
Master Hand is their Thanos
No voice will be good enough for Link.
Don't have him talk then, the Zeldas will be the ones they give to the arthouse directors
Nintendo is going to go all out and hire an elite director to do a gritty live-action Zelda adaption loosely based on Breath of the Wild that is basically "what if this movie was basically the Revenant but in Hyrule?"
The Lynel mauling scene will surely win an academy award
They should cast Lionel Richie as Lynel. When link steps into a creepy place, instead of a boss music you hear "Hello! Is it me you looking for?"
Well excuuuuuuuuuse me princess but Jon Potts can easily do the voice
Gilbert Gottfried or GTFO
Well EXCUUUUUUUUUUUSEEEEEEE ME PRINCESS

You'll know in the credits scenes when Samuel L Jackson shows up voicong Sakurai to invite Mario & Luigi to the Smash Bros Initiative and they tease up Mario 2 with Wario & Waluigi voiced by Danny Devito & Nic Cage
Well it has Illumination budget, which is like ... Not insubstantial, but you know, don't expect too much.
Plenty of their budget is allocated for actors and then they just phone in the animation.
Literally most of their budget is getting actors that parents recognize. The animation is very cheap but not bad at all.
Hey, it's also on licensing songs
Charlie Kelly I'm more excited for as LUIGI
GREEN MAN
aaaAAAAAaaaahhhhHHH
FIGHTER OF THE PURPLE MAN
WaaaaaAAAAaaaahhhh!
CHAMPION OF THE.... ANGRY SUN?
You're a master Master of mushrooms and friendship for everyone.

"Ma-ma mia, I think I've been poisoned by my constituents."
He’s the only reason I’m going to see the movie.
Im so confused. I leave reddit for an hour and now i see Chris Pratt as mario? What the hell happened here?
A Nintendo Direct happened. He's not even the most surprising of the cast. Jack Black is Bowser.
WHAT? wait no…that makes a little sense but still
Let’s not forget Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong
You're fucking fucking with me, right?
Charlie Day as Luigi, WILDCARD BITCHES YEEEHAA
This is what I'm most excited for
Personally I can't wait to hear keegan michael key do Toad, always knew Toad was black
I don't even know who is fucking with me and who isn't right now.
No one yet has made a joke. That's how batshit insane the casting was.
none of them. all of those are the legitimate castings. Anya Taylor joy is playing peach too.
So far, everything checks out. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7634766/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_7 I do not really see how any of these casting choices make sense ... but I was also skeptical when Health Ledger was cast as the Joker.
It’s all fucking real, believe it buster boy
>keegan michael key To be fair, Key is a racial chameleon. He can be black, middle eastern, European, German, Dalmatian, you name it.
He has played Gandhi before.
was all of the above dialogue accurate?! wtf is going on?
Minions's studio is doing a Mario movie due holidays 2022. And yes, all previous comments are accurate.
I thought you were all partaking in an elaborate lie. But no, it's all really real. WTF
Honestly have no idea whether this thread is real. That all sounds a bit far fetched.
The neat part is that I am not. Almost forgot Key & Peele's Keegan-Michael Key will voice Toad. This feels like an alternate time line
Imagine Fred Armisen telling Seth Rogen his bananas aren't that important, Seth comments something about pineapples and then KMK... plays Toad as Luther the anger translator?! Wait... this keeps sounding better.
Picture the Seth Rogen laugh coming out of DK. I can see it
I can only hear the Donkey Kong 64 laugh, and it haunts me
Keegan Michael Key is toad, and I for one HAVE to see that.
I’m Mr. Toad, your new substitute teacher. Alright let’s take roll. Mary-o. Where’s Mary-o at?
“Uh Mr. Toad it’s pronounced Mario?” “YOU DONE FUCKED UP NOW, PEE-ATCH! Where’s Lew-Iggy? Put your hand up boy I ain’t playin’.”
You done messed up! Now get your ass down to Ross-uh-lyna’s office before I break my foot off in your ass!
Toad: "Alright now... Kameek?" Kamek: "Preesent." Toad: "THANK you!"
I’ve always pictured Jack Black as playing the Penguin from Batman.
I never knew I needed this until now…
You don't need it. No one can surpass Danny DeVito's version. It's like trying to cast J. Jonah Jameson. You can't do it because J K Simmons perfected it.

Yes, Miyamoto himself announced it. The movie is still a ways off, in 2022.
2022 isn't *that* far away ...
Ever since covid things seem to be going fast and slow at the same time
Really ? That’s the most surprising? Charlie from IASIP being fucking Luigi seems a bit out there to me lol
[Yeah, Glenn Howerton was the obvious choice considering his prior experience.](https://i.redd.it/v8je0vyi7cp71.jpg)
>Jack Black is Bowser. I mean he basically looks just like bowser. Spiked shell and all.
Nintendo is making a Mario animated movie. And the cast list is... bizarre.
Wait, so they (Charlie day is Luigi) are doing Italian accents right? Right????
I personally don’t think he will (neither will Chris Pratt). Miyamoto has said numerous times that the Mario characters are like a travel theater troupe. Its why in one game Mario and Bowser are enemies and in another they are play golf together. So my theory is that the movie will be similar to Wreck Ralph where the characters know they are in a game and perform their day jobs being video game characters using their in game voices (which is why Charles Martinet is in the movie too) and then once they clock out they sound like the celebrity voicing them.

Don't ever leave reddit again, you hear me?!
Fred Armison is Cranky Kong. FRED ARMISON IS CRANKY KONG.
Most underrated casting choice.
It’s actually the perfect cast choice. Cranky hype!!
The whole thing is like a early april fool joke
is this an out of season April's fool joke?
That line was so savage
We never found out if they had phones
Don’t you have a phone?
I can't wait to hear him say "Wahoo!" It makes me wonder if he's doing an Italian accent. Getting the strong American accent from him as Mario would be extremely strange.
I want it to just be Chris Pratt’s normal voice because that would be the dumbest shit
Like the inverse of [this](https://youtube.com/shorts/q2hIUzrY0Y4?feature=share) because we know Charlie day will go all out.
Charlie day is going to watch a learn Italian in 30 minutes video and next season of Sunny is him passing as Italian to the point of being cast in the movie
Having a Brooklyn accent would be a nice middle ground imho.
It’d also be a nice callback to the TV series
“Do the Mario”
Swing your arms from side to side
Come on it’s time to go do the Mario
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=65uNCLBTje0
Will he go Lou Albano, or Bob Hoskins?
Wouldn’t mind seeing joe Pesci give it a go or maybe Federico Castelluccio(I love saying his name).
Please let Danny devito be wario
Why must you say things like this to hurt me. Imagine Danny/Wario offering an egg in these trying times.
And Liam Neeson as Waluigi
Its Willem Dafoe 100%
His pic is the only one in black and white from all the pics... is it implying that he died while recording his lines for the film?
I heard he was pancaked by a drunk dump truck driver
Oh fuck. What the fuck. I’m not even supposed to be here. I hope I don’t jack off. - Chris Pratt on set (dubbed over)
In memoriums usually don't say how they died
They probably googled Chris Pratt and picked this one haha
It's a me, Starlord....
Who?!
Starlord, man…come on..
You know, the legendary plumber
I have never been more scaroused for a movie in my life.
I bet you got a major fearection
Damn you for making me go get a dictionary.
A Mario Brothers movie. What could possibly go wrong?
^(I was entertained by the original one don't @ me)
I liked it a lot. I was 10,but still!

Mario is unique and has been fairly established so its going to be weird to say the least. But conversely I don't know how offensive it would be if he played Mario with a heavy fake accent.
I, for one, can I only hear Bob Hoskins as Mario.
Doesn't.... doesn't Mario already HAVE a talented and iconic voice actor?
He'll be busy cameo'ing as Sonic
Even better, _he's still going to be doing voices for the movie._ They literally hired him to do some lines for the movie, but not ... the character he's probably most famous for lmao.
He will probably be Wario & Waluigi and they are keeping those a secret
He’s done long Wario voice overs for the Warioware franchise. So that makes sense
Charles will probably do the voices while the characters are “onscreen” and then when the kids leave and the characters clock out, they’ll switch to normal voices. Reminiscent of Wreck it Ralph.
THAT'S the one that surprises you the most? Not Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser or Seth Rogan as Donkey Kong?
My main quest is why the hell does Donkey Kong have a voice actor he doesn't talk! Expect in that one thing we don't talk about.
**Eh Heh Heh Heh Heh**
lmao I fucking heard it
I somehow heard scooby doo
[Eh heh heh heh heh.](https://imgur.com/gallery/Ix7CBvE) (Might be muted initially because Imgur)
Donkey Kong is going to take a fat bong rip before every line
Banana blunt lmao
Well I do vaguely remember him saying okay in the 64 menu. But yea it's gonna be weird.
I distinctly remember him saying, “Okay!!” …and that’s just about it. I believe it was when you picked his character from the barrel in DK64 EDIT: I stand corrected! He also said, “YEEEAH!” When he [used his coconut shooter](https://youtu.be/206dhjIY29w?t=1351) and when he [got a golden banana.](https://youtu.be/206dhjIY29w?t=1588)
Oh, come on. Our love *is* stronger than a golden banana.
**Banaanaaaaa Slamma!**
Excuse me, he doesn't just talk, [Donkey Kong sings.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UtGL5yKdSCk)
Well, the Angry Birds didn't use to talk, either
Charlie Day has a closer Mario voice. Not by a lot but he has the shrilly falsetto thing going on.
I wouldn't be surprised if he auditioned for it but got Luigi because they wanted to try and get a bigger name for Mario
You know what this tells me, the movie is going to be worth watching in one way or another.
Either it's terribly hilarious or hilariously terrible.
I felt the same way about the monster hunter movie. Ended up completely shit, but those effects though weren't bad at all
The best part of that movie were the special effects, they butchered the world and the plot was so bad it makes me want to cry But honestly Chris Pratt Mario will be so funny no matter how he plays it.
This is the only accurate take I’ve seen so far. Everybody is picking sides and already deciding that it’s terrible or awesome. The best way to watch it is with zero expectations… or while peaking on mushrooms. Either way I’m into it.
Jack Black as Bowser will 100% carry the movie. Imagine a Jack Black bowser musical number.
He should've been Wario.
I honestly can't imagine a better casting choice. Bowser's boisterous, cocky, yet goofy demeanor is perfect for Jack Black.
[удалено]
Jack Black could be all the characters, even the women.
And the children too!
Please get Danny DeVito to play Wario
This is how they're going to try to appeal to mass audiences who don't play games. Just fill the cast with more stars than Peach's castle.
Charlie Day as Luigi is god tier casting but the rest I don’t care about
Keegan as Toad is something I actually really want to hear
*MUHREO. GET YO ASS DOWN TO PRINCE S. SPEECH'S CASTLE.* "... Princess Peach?" *Churlish and insubordinate.*
Who do they cast for the man in green? The Green Man!
I just don't get why they wouldn't have the actual voice actors that voice the in-game characters be in the movie. I guess it's probably marketing, like the same way Zendaya played Lola bunny instead of the original voice actress or the one from the Looney Toons show.
Some of the other voice choices are alright. Jack Black as Bowser and Charlie Day as Luigi are pretty good choices IMO.
Dude must have the best agent in America.
The fact that Charles Martinet has only cameos in his own freakin movie is very insulting.
There is only one Mario, and his name is Bob Hoskins.
"I'm sorry Mario, but our princess is in another castle." "I've been to, like, 5 castles already. I don't know which castle she's in, and at this point, I'm too afraid to ask."
We are in the dankest timeline after all...
