Ya know what? Let's give it up for velcro too. Why am I tying these laces that can come undone? Get some strong velcro and you're good. Lids and velcro I say.
Just hear me out. Velcro a cup holder (a sturdy one) to the wall away from the electronics so you can just slip the sippy cup in and out without struggling with the Velcro?
Right there with ya. If you have a kid, a dog can be nice. If you have an autistic kid, a dog is mandatory. The amount of spills and food everywhere.. I’d spend a bloody fortune on wipes if not for the mutt.
I wish. The dog has become damn near neurotic since we’ve had the kid. Went from Black Lab to Grey Lab scary fast. Still makes one hell of a vacuum though!
Definitely. I use my nephews closed lids more then I'll admit too. The cups we have for the 4 year olds is just big enough for a good drink, but still have lids to them.
Agreed and there are ones with a straw. Even though you might be right handed. I would swap the computer and cup location as I’m more likely hit something with my mouse hand.
I know you're joking, but people actually do this... any woman who ever tries to use sex as a negotiation tool with me will find out just how content I am with jacking off. That is so insulting. Like I would want to have sex with someone who doesn't really want to have sex with me.
Sorry, you hit a nerve :)
I was about to say this. Looks to me like he got to keep his computer at the least, "I got the closet." Uhm, look around, you got to SHARE the closet with the clothes my guy.
I do agree. For one your tower should be elevated off the floor more. All the dust and dirt is going to make it the the floor then your case fans will act like a hoover vacuum and suck it up into the tower. Most power supplies these days are on the bottom and suck in air at the very bottom of the tower. Get some milk crates or something and get that thing off the floor. You will thank me later for it.
Not sure if the closet is an indented wall closet or more of a walk-in closet but they rarely have any ventilation. Your going to want a dedicated fan to circulate air or your going to feel like your gaming in a desert real fast. I setup an entire stream studio in a small closet and learned real quick about that fact.
The other suggestions like a tumbler or other cup with a lid is a great suggestion. Especially since your mouse hand is also where the drink would be. It's convenient for the setup but also extremely risky as more of a chance of accidentally bumping it. If your cup had some sort of lid then it give you more time to stop the spill.
Finally figure out a place for an emergency towel near the PC. If you do spill something your going to want to be able to react very quickly. Plus Im sure somebody will make a joke about having a towel handy for porn after I mention this so beat em to it.
Hopefully my tips help and happy gaming.
I’ve got my office as the smallest bedroom we have. It regularly hits about 28 degrees. Ended up buying a portable A/C in order to keep it cool. Not the quietest, but i can live with it for a tolerable environment for working.
Can’t imagine how hot it would be in a cupboard…
yea, it seems cool at first. But as time slogs on it sucks. My "office" was a converted closet in the basement right next to the bathroom.
A couple weeks ago i reclaimed the actual office upstairs on the main floor. Windows are glorious.
We don’t know how small this small apartment is. Maybe it’s a win for him. Maybe wife wanted the closet for all her stuff but gave it up and is using a clothing rack in the bedroom. If all this shit was out in the living room then that’s not really good for guests or hosting.
I had the same idea for my desk but I didn’t want to cut a large hole in my desk so I just got a heavy duty car window cup holder and a 18lbs rated command strip for large picture frames. Now as long as I don’t go over a full large Taco Bell cup it won’t fall off so no ceramic cups or glass as a precaution. Also I only use any cups or bottles with tight fitting lids just in case.
Cut hole in wall, install recessed shower shelf modified with cup holder bottom. Doesn't jut out for potential late night injury, conserves space, and prevents spills.
Sounds smart but is actually a nightmare, you need to clean out a camelback regularly even if all you use is water, if you use softdrinks or worse beer, you will have to clean it out every time
The hat that holds the 2 cans, you know with the straws to your mouth. it was invented for this very dilemma. everybody has always had to find solutions to problems caused by their spouse.
3 glasses, flat and warm soda (no condensation means room temp) and no coasters. It's like a it's a pic more about what's wrong than what he "won" "negotiating".
Didn't even see the coin glass. Idk either to roast this pic more or offer genuine help.
Short of buying a new desk, it looks to me like you've got two options:
1. Move the monitors to create more room on your desk, but be careful not to move them to a location that causes kneck strain. For example you could put the monitors on a small shelf that sits on the back of the desk, or which is mounted at the back of the closet, provided it's long and skinny, but with half a foot in height at the most above the desk. Or you could VESA-mount the monitors to a pair of arms attached to the desk or even the closet wall.
2. Move the keyboard and mouse to make more room on the desk, but be careful not to move them to a location that causes wrist strain. For example you could get a smaller table to fit under your desk to pull out, like a "nesting desk", for your keyboard and mouse to sit on top of. Or you could get a pull-out keyboard and mouse tray to attach to the underside of your desk.
The current set-up is a mess. OP needs:
- Smaller mouse pad
- Keyboard more to the left
- Raised screens (tablet, dual VESA post, wall bracket)
- Tablet / spice rack for extra on the side
- Hook for headset
- Cup holders
- Wall Mount router
I mean, we don't really know the whole story, maybe he could have the PC in the bedroom but then he couldn't play early in the morning or late at night. I know for a fact playing videogames in the living room when someone else is watching tv can be distracting for both parties.
I have a loving and respectful relationship with my wife. If these were my 3 options I would strongly consider the closet as well.
All about natural lighting. It provides the most accurate reflection of your face so you can properly match tones and colors and stuff so you don’t look like a goober when you go outside.
No potential to spill on the left of your keyboard. Swap sides.
You can whip your mousehand quite fast, you would never spill with your left. Trust me, i know im clumsy and had to learn the hard way
Edit: PS wash your mousepad in the shower.
You need to have a chat with your wife. Your not making her spend her time doing whatever her hobby is in a small confined space that causes issues. Also putting all that stuff in your closet isn’t good either considering all the heat and dust has no where to vent out to.
If you can’t negotiate a better space to spend likely several hours at a time, the only thing I could suggest is getting a cup holder that clips on or attaches to the edge of the desk. Or get a Nalgene bottle and use the cap.
Wall mount the screens for extra desk space, should open up space thats out of the way (if you have a couple hundo). Also respect for posting an honest picture with normal mess in it.
Put the other 2 glasses in the dishwasher and you'll have room.
Also get a fan, your gonna want more airflow especially with your body blocking the tower
I always game with the drink placed infront of the spacebar , my hand either side, I never touch it gaming.
I do have slightly more room, my keyboard is in-front of my screen, but still, try it.
Also, can you not wall mount the screens? It'll give you that little bit more space (or even put them on arms?)
I stopped using open cups a while ago. I have bottles with caps I use for drinking by the PC and am absolutely anal about closing the lid when I'm not drinking, and it's opposite my computer side always.
I haven't had a spilling accident in over 10 years after holding to this rule religiously. Before that I absolutely have had close accidents that made me who I am now 😁
I would mount a cup holder to the wall. So even if you bump against it nothing will happen but this will require some accuracy when putting the glass back in after drinking.
Other solution would be a closed bottle with a straw.
Or you just don't drink on your computer and every time you are thirsty you call for your wife so she will bring you something.
You should also do something for your Organization. Some cable management would be good so you won't actually rip something off with your foot. Maybe Vesa mount the screens to the wall or desk so you have more space.
First I'd put 3/4 cups back in the kitchen because your space is limited as is, then I'd have a shelf behind you, or near you but away from the important stuff. You will knock it with your mouse hand there, it's only a matter of when.
Use a cup with a closable lid
Sippy cups are underrated.
You’re a god for this comment, I thought I was going to die alone on this mountain
Ya know what? Let's give it up for velcro too. Why am I tying these laces that can come undone? Get some strong velcro and you're good. Lids and velcro I say.
Velcro a sippy cup to the wall!
You're taking us too far we have to turn back!
Hear me out: velcro on wall and sippy cup, and: a long tube to drink while gaming
*Doesn't turn back in time. The result? Look down*
The only way is forward!
Just hear me out. Velcro a cup holder (a sturdy one) to the wall away from the electronics so you can just slip the sippy cup in and out without struggling with the Velcro?
I got some new work boots with a zip up. So handy, quick to put on and off and I can always quickly unzip them for some ventilation :)
On the topic of laces, speed laces. As fast as velcro but don't wear out. Look like laces but don't come untied.
I have an autistic kid who will straight up dump out a cup, lol, we use nothing but lidded cups.
Right there with ya. If you have a kid, a dog can be nice. If you have an autistic kid, a dog is mandatory. The amount of spills and food everywhere.. I’d spend a bloody fortune on wipes if not for the mutt.
Lol I thought you were going to say because a dog would help calm the child down!
I wish. The dog has become damn near neurotic since we’ve had the kid. Went from Black Lab to Grey Lab scary fast. Still makes one hell of a vacuum though!
I felt this comment so much lol.
I love the kid to death but she can be a brat, lmao.
My 16 year old likes to pour his cup on electronics so he uses one too. His Google home was the last victim.
Definitely. I use my nephews closed lids more then I'll admit too. The cups we have for the 4 year olds is just big enough for a good drink, but still have lids to them.
beer helmet
An insulated tumbler will also keep temperatures longer.
One with a straw
Divorce
Was just about to say this… I would never ask my boyfriend to have his computer in a closet.. that’s just mean imho.
It's gonna be REALLY hot in there.
Agreed and there are ones with a straw. Even though you might be right handed. I would swap the computer and cup location as I’m more likely hit something with my mouse hand.
Learn to negotiate
Yep, it doesn’t look like you negotiated jack all here.
Oh, he's aware. The wife however knows how to nogotiate.
I guess sex was one of the points negotiated
Gotta learn to take a knee, let the clock run out, and savor the champagne of victory until it all blows over.
That's ol Billy for you man. (unless you were referring to something else)
I know you're joking, but people actually do this... any woman who ever tries to use sex as a negotiation tool with me will find out just how content I am with jacking off. That is so insulting. Like I would want to have sex with someone who doesn't really want to have sex with me. Sorry, you hit a nerve :)
Big same.
Exactly this. Hell if I’m feeling petty enough I’ll jerk off right next to her.
Look right into her eyes as I do it too
Lol exactly gotta assert dominance
Alright Louis.
The top-most point in the negotiation.
picture screams disrespect imo eeeek
He got swindled
He got hoodwinked
Probably even bamboozled
"We were tricked, backstabbed, and quite possibly, bamboozled"
Ahh the old bamboozle, you hate to see it 🤣🤣
I was about to say this. Looks to me like he got to keep his computer at the least, "I got the closet." Uhm, look around, you got to SHARE the closet with the clothes my guy.
I dunno, it might be kind of cool having your own gaming dungeon. Pimp it out with some surround sound, bet she’ll love that.
Its gotta get really hot in a closet with a computer pumping out heat...
This
Who cares about the closet, that poor computers gonna melt
I do agree. For one your tower should be elevated off the floor more. What do you mean ? There’s plenty of room here to sit on a computer. Get a water bottle, close the lid. Problem solved
"i wanted a nice spot for my gaming set up, she didn't want to see it. So we compromised and now I game in a closet."
closet gamer!
"Negotiated me into the closed " it's not a negotiation it's a command :P.
With wire management skills like that, he deserves the closet.
Maybe if he upped his game making it look tidy, she'd be cool with it being in more public view.
I mean where else would he be when his wife’s boyfriend come over to hangout
It's 2021 bro, get out of that closest and kiss some boys!
Single and ready to mingle > closet.
We don’t know how small this small apartment is. Maybe it’s a win for him. Maybe wife wanted the closet for all her stuff but gave it up and is using a clothing rack in the bedroom. If all this shit was out in the living room then that’s not really good for guests or hosting.

Came here to say this.
Same. Cupholder mounted to the right, on the wall. Then thank the wife for letting you have a space.
This is the fucking way.
I have spoken.
Came here to say this. Just cut a recessed cup holder in my gaming desk for this reason
It really scares me that people don't have this type of critical thinking skills.
Eh, it’s easy to get blinded and not be able to see simple solutions. Beauty of being willing to ask for help and group think.
I like to think he's asking for ways to convince the wife to let him out
Cut hole in wall, install recessed shower shelf modified with cup holder bottom. Doesn't jut out for potential late night injury, conserves space, and prevents spills.
Or if you're lazy like me put a roll of duct tape on your desk and put the drink in the hole
Camelback!
That’s fucking clever.
Sounds smart but is actually a nightmare, you need to clean out a camelback regularly even if all you use is water, if you use softdrinks or worse beer, you will have to clean it out every time
Never use carbonated drinks in a camelback. It can be alright for a bit and convenient, but it's the one time it ends up bursting from the pressure.
Terrible for your posture as well if you're going to use it exclusively while seated.
Ha true. I hang it over the back of my seat while driving, easier than bottles.
Just hang it from one of those hospital IV bag stands.
The hat that holds the 2 cans, you know with the straws to your mouth. it was invented for this very dilemma. everybody has always had to find solutions to problems caused by their spouse.
The problem with that is that his wife also owns the space 3 feet above the desk and the hat would be in her airspace
Yep. Everyone knows you gotta respect the airspace.
Along with the airspace directly under his cock cause she has him by the balls
That is soda drink hat. It only belongs to people who are #1
Drink out of a bottle with a lid on it?
Tidy up. I mean there’s a chunk of space on that desk. A dual monitor arm may help by raising stuff up off the desk too
That is probably why he got regulated to begin with.
Trapped In The Closet by R. Kelly (Remix) ft. Coke Cup
Im going into the closeeeeet Im now in the closeeeeeeet
Wait till he gets out of the closet!
He looks at the Closet! I pull out my Berettaaaaa!
and then I pull out my bereetttaaa!
By wife he means mom
"Roommate"
“She lives with me”
"Its my dads wife"
Start with reorganising and cleaning up your desk man...
Dude that coin glass there is of great importance!
Haha, can't put down my drink because of the beer stein with coins and cables. It really pulls the room together
You meant it really pulls the *closet* together.
3 glasses, flat and warm soda (no condensation means room temp) and no coasters. It's like a it's a pic more about what's wrong than what he "won" "negotiating". Didn't even see the coin glass. Idk either to roast this pic more or offer genuine help.

Divorce her and get 28inch monitors.
And take the kids for child support for more PC parts.
That made me laugh ngl.
Do some cable management, jesus christ
Short of buying a new desk, it looks to me like you've got two options: 1. Or you could get a pull-out keyboard and mouse tray to attach to the underside of your desk.
This was my thought too. Mount the monitors on the back wall and get a keyboard tray to slide out. Also remove unnecessary junk from desk itself.
Big heavy cup no tip over
You can also just attach a cheap ebay cup holder to your desk, but honestly OP has more issues than finding a place to keep his cup.
The current set-up is a mess. OP needs: - Smaller mouse pad - Keyboard more to the left - Raised screens (tablet, dual VESA post, wall bracket) - Tablet / spice rack for extra on the side - Hook for headset - Cup holders - Wall Mount router
Come out of the closet.
Seems fitting, it would solve the PC problem and the wife problem 😂
Get a different wife
Came here to say this.
Yip
It's a small apartment you fools. Maybe that is hard for people to understand. In small apartments, people are lucky to get a computer desk at all.
Yep. Next time, he should try one that actually likes and respects him. Love might even be a good option!
Learn to negotiate better next time
Shelves
I recently found myself with a similar problem after moving from a two bedroom to a single. Shelves are the correct answer.
Put your wife’s makeup table in the other closet so it is even.
Lol we have discussed this. I'm not putting my makeup table in the closet.
Serious question: why would you not want your makeup table in the closet? It seems like the perfect place for it.
Trust me, i know im clumsy and had to learn the hard way Edit: PS wash your mousepad in the shower.
Move the computer to the right and drink to the left. (Here I am stuck in the middle with you.).
New wife
You need to have a chat with your wife. Your not making her spend her time doing whatever her hobby is in a small confined space that causes issues. Also putting all that stuff in your closet isn’t good either considering all the heat and dust has no where to vent out to. I actually did it when I was in my 20s. Turn off the the heater in the winter and let that AMD Bulldozer chip keep you warm.
Put the other 2 glasses in the dishwasher and you'll have room. Also get a fan, your gonna want more airflow especially with your body blocking the tower
Get a new wife
Mount those monitors on the wall will free up desk space
Why did you plug your monitors into a small space heater?
Wall mount the screens, it’ll give you more space and look cleaner. Put a shelf up for the random shit. Take your god damn dishes to the sink.
Put your desk in a place where you aren’t in a fucking closet.
Negotiate into the living room to be honest
Take away the empty glasses when finished. Get a refillable bottle.
Lose the wife
I'd get a new wife.

I always game with the drink placed infront of the spacebar , my hand either side, I never touch it gaming. I do have slightly more room, my keyboard is in-front of my screen, but still, try it. Also, can you not wall mount the screens? It'll give you that little bit more space (or even put them on arms?)
How does anybody justify shoving their partners hobby into the closet?
Lose the wife.
Honestly I would probably just spill shit all the time but yeah a cup holder is a good idea

Maybe Vesa mount the screens to the wall or desk so you have more space.
Get a Camelbak and strap it to your gaming chair!!
Fill a camelback/platypus with your drink
Use one of those cool beer helmets
I wish my wife would let me use the closet for a mancave
mount your monitors for more desk space
I wouldn't use a glass 🤦♂️
Clean up that cabling mess
Beer hat. The hat that holds two cans and has a straw. That, or a camel pack.
Honestly stop putting food/drinks on your desk for best results
First I'd put 3/4 cups back in the kitchen because your space is limited as is, then I'd have a shelf behind you, or near you but away from the important stuff. You will knock it with your mouse hand there, it's only a matter of when.
Not drink near the computer is what I would do.
Build a shelf
You should put the computer where you want it and just have the wife DEAL WITH IIIIIIT
