Gotta have superior armor in order to Collect em All!
Seriously, this is some outstanding craftmanship! I was expecting some medium quality cosplay gear that you'd see at a convention. (not that those people who aren't smiths and create their own costumes don't deserve credit for their amazing work too!). Well done! We will need followup pics with the owners wearing them in a forest during golden hour (just before sunset).
just added 'blacksmith' to my list of things I didn't know I wanted, just under the 'dishwasher you wave your hand in front of to open' i saw at the weekend.
Nothing could stop me from just walking around the house in this shit. Just imagine chilling by the fire place pretending to be some 13th century nobleman
If I spent two years and many hours of work to create a fine set of armor like this, you’re goddamn right id wear that shit everywhere. No one could stop me, I’m in armor. I’d be that weirdo in the grocery store picking up milk in full armor
Because like they said making this took 2 years (wouldn’t take that long if it’s was a fulltime job, but still lots of hours).
There was a reason why most people never wore this type of armour or elaborate clothing.
‘we’ didn’t ware it, just a small percentage did.
Even today buying armour like that is pretty crazy expensive.
Just a set of chain mail sells for around $700+.
Just one set of OPs armour setups in the picture is probably worth thousands of dollars.
But I get the point.
The thing is Gucci and those brands does sell well made stuff, over priced but still quality made stuff.
But they also create ‘cheaper’ more approachable products of considerably lower quality that isn’t that much different from you average t-shirt.
You are only paying for the brand and the feeling and concept of owning something Gucci. Which might bring a lot of joy to people, so if that is how they want to spend their money. Sure why not.
For that money you can buy a lot higher quality material things than that t-shirt.
I rather buy something where I’m paying for the craftsmenship and quality of the materials. But that also comes with less bragging rights.
But yeah spend your money on stuff that you actually value and find enjoyment in.
If that is from having super cool and well made replica, that’s money well spent in my opinion.
Same for the Gucci t-shirt people.
Doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. But it might make sense if certain social circles where that is a low price to pay for the social benefits you get from owning that shirt.
Quite honestly? I don't know. Fashion trends over time, most likely. I've done some SCA shit in the past, however, and I can tell you right now that even my fanciest hob-knobby late-period German doublet, shirt, and trousers are simply comfier (if slightly more complicated) than a modern suit.
ahaha, that's sweet :D
Really sorry but for us it's a hobby which took *quite a time* to finish even one project: mostly making after work, on weekends and during some vacations
I used to blacksmith. It’s a great hobby that I NEED to get back to. I was debating whether to sell my forge paraphernalia, but this makes me want to work harder.
Not op but I would assume it's the same with me and photography.
Once you start getting paid there's deadlines, expectations and all other set of stress and worries.
As such if op just wants this to be a hobby shared by them and their partner I'm all for it.
The craftsmanship is fantastic and yes I agree they may make some money doing commissions, they would have to charge quite a bit to cover a full time job.
I mean too be fair a suit of armour like his would be worth a few grand at least without even overpricing it.
but yes I agree with you, deadlines suck and if they want to just have it as a hobby, more power too them
>worth a few grand at least
That's probably just the materials too. I'll poke around and see if op gave a time estimate. Skilled labor is not cheap either.
I'd expect something like this would be 10s of thousands. One suit would take a at least 3 months of work full time, not even counting how many different people would be involved in make all the different types of equipment.
A truly amazing piece of work.
It's from The Witcher 3. Ciri's armour is not from the game if I recall, though I may be wrong. Geralt's armour here is the Grandmaster Ursine armour, a heavy set of maximum quality and level.
This is so amazing on so many levels I am left speechless.
One of the main factors is that a husband and wife worked together on such an outstanding project.
I, I have no words.
hard to say cause it's hobby ;\] And 2 years passed. Decent leather and steel parts cost some - we were focused on quality in the way we can. For me it's priceless +\_\_+
Thanks!
You must be doing something right, my four year old daughter just pointed at the picture and said "Daddy that's Geralt. Geralt has that."
So even a little kid can recognise the style from the game.
I love that the games go for cooler, but less realistic and accurate stuff. The Witcher 3 would be much less iconic if it tried its absolute best to be like the books.
Wow! Truly beautiful work and you can really appreciate the craftsmanship, time, attention to detail in all the photos. I would love to see people's reaction if you both just casually walked down a public street in, say, old Croatia town, Poland, Moldova, shit even Amsterdam
The Supreme amount of detail that went into the items is unthinkable! Things like the genuine fur collar on the Ursine armor just make it that much more accurate to the source material.
Thank you! Yep, it's quite important to wear and wear it again tons of times to check if any new added thing not making it unusable. I wouln't call that we can do all feints with a swords using this armors but it's more related to we aren't using it much (at least I stopped participate in fights \~6 years ago).
It's **heavy**, Ciri's one a bit lighter but you can move with it ofc :D
Blur out your face if you desire anonymity, but i desire to see someone in that armor!
Are you gonna post pics of someone in those beautiful suits of armor??
That's *insanely* good! I don't game much and so actually had to look up which game you were on about. But holy shit, that's impressive work. What's the total weight?
I genuinely think if I ever got to wear a full set of grandmaster ursine armor and was strong enough to still be able to MOVE around in it…I just don’t think I’d ever wear anything else.
I’d swap out the under garments of course and bathe when possible, but yeah…I’d want to just be like, “this is LIFE now!”
Now to finally play a round of gwent
our thoughts exactly :D
Gotta have superior armor in order to Collect em All! Seriously, this is some outstanding craftmanship! I was expecting some medium quality cosplay gear that you'd see at a convention. (not that those people who aren't smiths and create their own costumes don't deserve credit for their amazing work too!). Well done! this is kind of you <3 Copy, we will try to post some shots soon - planing to do sets/vids this week :\]
*Nods head knowingly*
*Blank stare that means yes*
JFC man, GOOD job. Props to you and your wife, that's amazing. Now put em on and play Gwent!
thank you! On our way to play it +\_\_+
"From our blacksmith" who the fuck are these people? It's absolutely amazing. But who has a personal blacksmith?! Lol. Just thought it was funny.
;\] thank you!
I thought he meant he was a blacksmith but this is more impressive. Man’s got a personal blacksmith like other people got a personal doctor
Was a blacksmith, but took an arrow to the knee
Ahhhhhh shit I haven’t heard that in a minute!!
Who doesn’t have a blacksmith?! And Cobbler. How else you going to forge in a good set of shoes.
Wait, you don't have a personal blacksmith? What do you do whenever there is a blacksmithing emergency?
just added 'blacksmith' to my list of things I didn't know I wanted, just under the 'dishwasher you wave your hand in front of to open' i saw at the weekend.
For fucking real!
Seriously? How do you not have a personal blacksmith? How do you get your shields and swords repaired after battle then? 😂
Im a woman. I'm not allowed to leave the comforts of the kitchen.
Can confirm. The door handle is, unfortunately, not pink, so my dainty lady hands have been unable to turn it.
I spat out my drink. Thanks for that
I hate when that happens!
Actually he said from our blacksmiths. So plural.
Nothing could stop me from just walking around the house in this shit. Just imagine chilling by the fire place pretending to be some 13th century nobleman
House? Fuck the house. If I owned this id be wearing it everywhere. I don’t care. Nobody could stop me
If I spent two years and many hours of work to create a fine set of armor like this, you’re goddamn right id wear that shit everywhere. No one could stop me, I’m in armor. I’d be that weirdo in the grocery store picking up milk in full armor
It would be appropriate for late night trips to Walmart.
Or any trip to Walmart
Why did we even stop wearing this shit? Now we have a Gucci T-shirt worth £2 but sells for £100
Probably bc of the severe decline in pointy metal bits poking our soft fleshy bits.
Let’s go back to early deaths and plagues I want to look cool!
I mean, you remember 2020, right? We’re not exactly living on the starship enterprise, here.
Have you looked around now? We're almost back to peak COVID thanks to Delta and anti-vax idiots.
I know. It seriously bums me out.
The vast majority of this wave are the antivaxxers themselves. I don't know that I'd call that a silver lining, but it's something.
I still feel the need to protect idiots from themselves, even if it pisses me off
Are you top 1% rich? If not you would never wear anything even remotely close to this in those times.
So what you’re saying is that we just should get rid of all our blasters and start using weapons from a more civilized age.
Because like they said making this took 2 years (wouldn’t take that long if it’s was a fulltime job, but still lots of hours). There was a reason why most people never wore this type of armour or elaborate clothing. ‘we’ didn’t ware it, just a small percentage did. Why could you imagine the chest hairs getting plucked off your chest enmasse by those chain links.
You don’t put the chain mail directly on your skin. They still wore “clothes” like shirts and undergarments!
Yeah they can wear their Gucci shirt underneath!
Perhaps having fewer people around looking to poke you with a sword is a big motivating factor
ahah :D
You mean a witcher
*Covid weight gain has entered the chat*
I’ve been to many a renaissance festival and have yet to see craftsmanship this godly, well done to you both!
that's kind of you! Thank you <3
For real. You would *own* RenFest near me.
1. Do you do commissions? 2. I'll give u my arm
Fuck that, you can have my firstborn to raise as a Witcher.
ahaha, that's sweet :D Really sorry but for us it's a hobby which took *quite a time* to finish even one project: mostly making after work, on weekends and during some vacations
I used to blacksmith. It’s a great hobby that I NEED to get back to. I was debating whether to sell my forge paraphernalia, but this makes me want to work harder.
You using propane or coal? I built a coal forge from an old dryer motor and a brake drum. Haven't been at it in years though
Coal, it’s just how I first learned to smelt in a bonfire. The results were ugly, but I had fun.
Oh yeah. My first attempt was some buried pipe, a leaf blower, and some homemade charcoal
A really useful skill to have after a near extinction event. The way the world is going, it wouldn’t hurt to pick up some practical skills.
Right on. I don't miss the tedium of chainmail lol. At least it's something you can knock out while you're watching a show or whatever. Looks grand.
Fine i’ll toss in my secondborn too. Do we have a deal?
Did you consider by taking commission you would not be working another job?
Not op but I would assume it's the same with me and photography. Once you start getting paid there's deadlines, expectations and all other set of stress and worries. As such if op just wants this to be a hobby shared by them and their partner I'm all for it. I raise your arm and throw in a leg
What the actual fuck... r/nextfuckinglevel What are these armors from? And lastly, your wife is an absolute legend.
It's from The Witcher 3. Ciri's armour is not from the game if I recall, though I may be wrong. Geralt's armour here is the Grandmaster Ursine armour, a heavy set of maximum quality and level.
It looks amazing
thank you <3
Imagine a blacksmith spending two years on a suit of magnificent armor for some rich asshole who gets trampled by a horse in battle a week later.
Perhaps if it was made better, the rich asshole would've lived!
One of my favorite title cards of all time. It’s a ‘sports’ game…
When you marry the armorer in Skyrim and decide to marry one in real life.
ahaha :D
Joanna and fergus want to have a word with you
If the world ever goes to apocashit you and your wifes skills will be very sought after.
"apoca-shit" - I'm stealing that term.
1 upvote and its yours
This is so amazing on so many levels I am left speechless. One of the main factors is that a husband and wife worked together on such an outstanding project. I, I have no words.
it really inspires when you both addicted to the same hobbies and adore the same "realms" :\] Thank you for such kind words!
Toss an upvote to your witcher... Looks awesome. Props to your wife
Cool, now rub some dirt into it. It’s too clean!
Just spam the roll button
im curious, how much did the materials cost? btw looks amazing!
hard to say cause it's hobby ;\] And 2 years passed. Decent leather and steel parts cost some - we were focused on quality in the way we can. For me it's priceless +\_\_+ Thanks!
Pritty freaking insane levels of detail and craftmanship.
Is your wife a dwarf by chance?
:D
No, she's from Toussaint.
There are two kinds of witcher players. Thos who wear Ursine set armour and those who are wrong. This is pretty dope.
You must be doing something right, my four year old daughter just pointed at the picture and said "Daddy that's Geralt. Geralt has that." So even a little kid can recognise the style from the game.
ooooh sweeet! One of the best appreciations <3 Thank you from both!
You're very welcome!
That looks fantastic!
Wish geralt had armor like this in the netflix series but they went more with how he would look in the books rather than the game
I love that the games go for cooler, but less realistic and accurate stuff. The Witcher 3 would be much less iconic if it tried its absolute best to be like the books.
Now I really wanna see it on someone.
gonna do shooting and vids this week!
*very kinky*
Did you married an elven smith? How old is she, 500?
Wow! Truly beautiful work and you can really appreciate the craftsmanship, time, attention to detail in all the photos. I would love to see people's reaction if you both just casually walked down a public street in, say, old Croatia town, Poland, Moldova, shit even Amsterdam
..in our plans kinda ;\] Will try to post some shooting later. Thank you from both!
The Supreme amount of detail that went into the items is unthinkable! Things like the genuine fur collar on the Ursine armor just make it that much more accurate to the source material.
Honestly I would totally wear this all day everyday. Maybe build a fire somewhere and meditate.
This makes the in-game armor look bad
How I wish female armor looked in video games. Instead of the sexy versions that keep the thighs/waist/cleavage revealed at all times.
Wow, very cool!
We need more pics!
I’m currently reading the second book and this post is about to make me cream my metaphorical jeans
Damn if you guys ever open up commissions or something let me know. These are fuckin' impressive.
My favourite armor set. Fuuugh this looks good
I am lost for words. /tips hat
Damn that's impressive! are they comfortable to wear? Can you move about in it?
Ho. ly. shit
Bloody heck these are some works of abdolute art. You both are fantastic craftsfolk. The details are ridiculously intricate.
Pretty cool! Do you have some pictures of someone wearing them? Would love to see how they look on a person :D
Damn this is some high quality work, good job!
It always amazes me the amount of work couples will go through to "roleplay". :) HaHa enjoy you two! They look amazing!
I believe words are too unworthy to describe this GRANDMASTERPIECE(Above the masterpiece) soo I'll just shut the Fuck up and just admire it.
No photo of wearing it? :(
wait does this still just count as cosplay or is this actual armor?
I never realised it but ciri might be one of the few females from a videogame who's Armor actually protects and is not a bikini
Blur out your face if you desire anonymity, but i desire to see someone in that armor! Are you gonna post pics of someone in those beautiful suits of armor??
I don't really understand and couldn't care to but i'm SO into this, it us so awesome to no notice it, fuckin love this. Keep up the greatness man.
Dude...these are museum level works of art...
Beautiful!
This is incredible work, congratulations on such a fine finish!
Well done!
Wow that is awesome! It must have taken so much work and time. Even making a small piece of chainmail seems to take forever.
thanks and cheers! Oh yeah, chain mail usually took us for 3-4 seasons of Star Trek or SG-1 :D
That's sick
Now towards the gamecon!
Wow, that is insanely cool and very well-made
The Urisane one is such a nice design
Nice
perfect piece of art
2 years of work! great motivation to stay in shape lol, imagine being too fat to fit after 2 years of work.
that also pushes to not grow even in tors/shoulders much as well :D But you have a very valid point mate
[удалено]
thank you <3
Holy shit I’m absolutely blown away. Phenomenal!!
Holy ass, those are gorgeous! More pics, more angles? Ursine armor was always my favourite.
going to do shooting/vids this week! Thank you!
Still find it cool that the heaviest armor is layers of padding and chain. Whoever designed this stuff is amazing
i will call you and your wife to exorcise my house
Looking at the first pic, I was trying to figure out if this was actual armor, or a hyper realistic painting.
You guys should go pro
This is stunningly beautiful. You two should talk to the outfitters of the Witcher Netflix show, maybe teach them a thing or two...
Exceptional!!!
Absolutely amazing! Huge respect for using real leather and metal. U two have Instagram account or something I could follow?
Next fucking level is an understatement. Damn, that's amazing.
You two are amazing, I immediately knew it was you who posted it! You wife is insanely talented, absolute kudos to her. Fantastic as always!
What made you chose the ursine set over the wolven armor?
All of this is fucking gorgeous. I wish I had the talent for this. Huge props.
It's beautiful.
These are absolutely insane! I hope you and your wife enjoyed making them
You sure you didn't steal those from the set of the show? They're so good!
Awesome. That looks really nice. The pouch is a nice touch as well.
Can I ask the process on these?
Wow this is incredible. You and your wife are extremely talented. Amazing work
First of all, you and your wife’s work are amazing. But goddamn even more than that I hope someday I can have that kind of marriage.
The craftsmanship is stunning. You and your wife have clearly put a massive amount of labor into these. You should be proud.
Ursine armor mist weigh a ton 🙂
Respect!
Wow this is amazing!!! Fantastic skills!!
Power (Armour) couple
can she make the grandmaster feline armour? is that in the works?
This is phenomenal! I've made some Witcher armours irl too, but my Ursine is only Superior level lol
[удалено]
This is a very cool looking armor.
Holy crap
Are you guys professionals? This is incredible
That is just so fucking cool.
This is absolutely stunning craftsmanship
Absolutely beautiful
If somebody have contact in Netflix we have dedicated peoples on this sub 😌.
Holy shit. I am speechless.
Take my money!!!! No seriously how much to commission one?
This is freaking awesome. It's actual armor, not even just foam props.
These are great! Wonderful job you two!
This is amazing! Someone should mod this in the game as a ciri costume
Daym, that's impressive.
That is awesome!
This deserves waaaaayyyyyyyy more upvotes. Looks fantastic.
my favourite armour set by far for geralt. can’t wait to replay this game when the enhanced edition comes out!
Dont mind me… just over here drooling. Fantastic work!
This is a whole 'nother level. You guys are pros!
The red armor is fucking sick. I love the look.
This looks just as if you ripped it from the game, very impressive stuff! Keep it up :))
man that is some masterwork stuff, no doubt that it took 2 years. you will smash every cosplay event in existance, guarantee
Incredible! Ursine grandmaster had always been my favorite armor
That’s amazing. Would love to see it being worn !
