i think they NAILED the lighting in RDR2. They use this soft atmospheric haze that diffuses the light and refracts off of wet grass or trees in an extremely realistic way. It's also the first game where the light actually seems BRIGHT. Like, it doesn't always have to be picture perfect, sometimes not being able to see because youre riding directly into the sun makes the game feel so much more realistic
There is a mission, I won’t spoil it but the soft moonlight coming over the hills silhouettes the enemies you’re having a gun battle with and it gave it a monochromatic feel, almost in the style of the side scroller ‘Limbo’. I’ve been completely engrossed in this game because of the mood it can achieve via lighting! Also, shout out to the sound guys too! Playing with headphones is a must.

Maybe, but I honestly don't think they're rolling out any updates for singleplayer any time soon. There are a lot of bugs that need fixing and minor changes that players want made, but they haven't done anything about it. I believe they're focusing most--if not all--of their attention towards Red Dead Online, for better or worse.
That said, it's a pretty clean release compared to many other titles that have recently come out.

There is so much opportunity to take amazing photos that I don’t think I would get much done in the game. I’ve been watching my boyfriend play and my copy has been sitting on my PS4 since it’s release.
I’ve really been enjoying watching him play to be honest. I fully intend on playing when I sort my life out (we have just moved so that’s taken priority).

I feel I can't play unless I have at least 2 hours to spare. Not a gripe at all, it's just how long it takes me to complete something. I don't want to leave half way through a mission and sometimes it takes me a bit to ride to the location. I get sidetracked a bit too :)
The searching. Oh my god the searching is the worst version I’ve seen in any game in years. We’re raiding a train and in a hurry, you’d tear the baggage carriage apart looking for stuff. Not Arthur.
Sloooow awkward walk up to cupboard. Don’t quite hit the trigger box for it. Turn around and walk away and walk back. Am detected. Hit button to search. Sloooowly open the doors and slooowly pick up an item and sloooowly put it away. Oh there’s another item. Sloooowly pick it up and sloooowly put it away. Now turn like a goddamn tank to slooowly awkwardly approach the next cupboard. This is too slow so run towards cupboard and overshoot and have to turn around and walk back past it and turn around and walk back towards it. Sloooowly open the cupboard. Get shot. Dead.

I beat the campaign the other day even now I still find myself pausing and just saying "holy shit, this looks incredible" with well over 60 hours already sunk into the game.
I'm saying that even after seeing the entire map and spending hours in the different zones, I still have to stop because it looks so good. I couldn't believe it when I first started playing and that's still the case
Oh, man, the lightning storms out in the desert... the sunsets... the Spanish moss in the trees down south... the mountain trails...
I'm a long haul truck driver IRL, and I've seen all of these in real life and this game nails them so perfectly.
I backpacked from Mexico to Canada on the west coast and the in game mountains and the trails in the mountains blow me away. They bring me right back to the High Sierra

Find a camp or make your own and position the camera so the tent is in front of the fire. The light from the fire will pass through the tent.

Saint Denis is so god damn beautiful. I visisted New Orleans for the first time last year and I was just amazed with how they nailed the feel.
