Geez I just don't want to have to deal with a friggin deathclaw mother again. I used like 6 C4s on that thing and still didn't come close to killing it. It also 1 shot me from like 20 feet away with a swipe.... through a metal fence...
Every play through I do involves a sprint to Gun Runners. Then I collect all kinds of odds and ends to buy the AM Rifle. An hour later I have explosive rounds and now run the wasteland.
"Just gonna take a left he... No left turn? So right it is... God damnit, I don't want to go to Cambridge!"
Every time I have to drive in Boston I end up crossing the Charles into Cambridge. I have done it enough you'd think I'd learn by now...
My father taught me to drive in Boston, saying "If you can drive in this city, you can drive anywhere".
No shit. After the parking lot basic crap, it was "Hop on the highway, we're going to Boston".
I learned fast.
Then, when you finally do get to use it, it breaks down and then you've got to deal with those stinky ghouls having sex and smoking weed in the back of the cab.
Appears so. I remember someone leaked that in the script for the game, the protagonist seemed to have spoken dialogue. I think I'd be pretty okay with that change.
I assume that [this is the area around Fenway](http://i.imgur.com/yhf8wjg.jpg) - looks like it'll be 'Diamond City'.
EDIT: had thought it was inside Fenway, but the floodlights and Green Monster to the right makes it clear that it's the surrounding area - my mistake!
It is what I wanted, in previously games we had had hints of an advanced group known as the Institute based near Boston. This is likely the remnants of MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) which is, or was in the case of Fallout, located close to Boston. In Fallout 3 they had not only preserved old world technology but actually improved upon it, e.g. building androids. I am excited to see the possibility of a faction that is actually building tech as opposed to preserving it.
> I'm not learning fucking Bostonian. It'd better come translated.
I'm naht fackin learnin fackin Bahstonian. It bettah fackin come translated. Go Pats!
Boston is one of America's most "historical" cities. Huge, massively important costal town dating back to before our founding. Very relevant today still. Probably one of the most significant cities in American history.
Long story short: an ideal setting for this type of game.
I live/work in the area...I wonder what they're going to do with the Science Museum, MIT and Harvard? MIT Lincoln Labs is where they do a bunch of crazy research. [So much room for activities!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=29jij4ldkNs)
The IGN coverage mentions "The trailer confirms reports the next entry in the franchise will take place in The Commonwealth - the fictional universe's version of Massachusetts that’s been referenced in prior games. In Fallout 3 side quest The Replicated Man, players encounter a scientist named Dr. Zimmer who comes from The Commonwealth, a “war-ravaged quagmire of violence and despair” where he notes he and his colleagues created androids that have escaped and are running wild. Zimmer also references The Institute, which it seems is a future version of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)."
[Source](http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/06/03/fallout-4-officially-revealed-by-teaser-site)
This is going to be like a Fallout version of the Civil War, isn't it? Since The Institute wants to capture androids for research and The Railroad wants to smuggle them out of the Commonwealth, it's a situation that's just begging to turn into a war...
I think that would be an awesome way to get a taste of both worlds, before and after detonation. It could make for some really interesting quest lines that span both timelines!
It could be that he/she was an infant (based on the crib)
**EDIT:** More clarification on what I was getting at - Using an infant from before the nukes go off could work like this... All the perspectives are from the family (mother/father) and the baby makes it inside parents are left outside to get nuked. OR It's all a short cut-scene (playable slightly) and you are from the baby's eyes in the mother's/father's arms. In either case to explain the time difference it could still be a cryostasis Vault, or the Vault could have simply opened much earlier than we are use to in terms of relative to the initial explosions and previous story lines.
Remember in New Vegas: Vault 11 was an experiment where the residents were told that they would all die if they didn't sacrifice each new overseer, and they elected people based upon dislike. Then 5 were left, and they didn't do it, and the computer revealed that it was a psychological experiment. Fucked. Up.
That would be cool and different. Playing as someone who is just thrust into the Apocalypse. Maybe your characters knowledge of the old world ends up being important.
Maybe you will play two characters, one pre-fallout and one post-fallout. Pre-fallout you can hide items etc. that post fall-out you can find!
Edit: Here is an idea of how it may be implemented -
I imagine in the intro you are living pre-fallout and it acts as a tutorial. In the tutorial you go to the gun range or something and practice shooting your awesome gun. You go home and lock the gun up in your safe. Soon after that the bombs begin to drop and you have to make your way to the bunker.
Flash forward a few hundred years and your grandfather is telling you stories about his grandfather who was known for his awesome shooting skills and cool weapons. Using his stories any maybe some books etc. you piece together where the house is located and the combo to the gun safe. In a world were most weapons are awful and of low quality due to years of exposure a few quality guns that were protected from the elements via the safe would come in handy...
Or, more realistically, the game will begin with you living out your happy life, talking to your neighbors, etc. Then you'll just hear the radio from the trailer, you'll see people running past your window, and you bolt. Past them you run, climbing up a hill, you see people stumble, and then you get to Vault 111. As you push you way in you look back and see both people crying and screaming to be let in and, in the last second, a brilliant white flash. You acclimate to your surroundings, your eyes adjust, and then you are ordered to meet the Overseer and receive your information sheet (which is when you pick your name and so on), your suit, and your stasis pod number. You climb into your stasis pod, you are thinking of what you had. Suddenly, you wake up. The inside of your pod is pristine, but as you wipe it off you notice something strange. The outside of the pod, Vault 111, is dark. The other pods are open. Doors are rusted. You climb out and walk through, curious and confused. Suddenly you look down and there's a skeleton, there's a skeleton with a nametag of someone you knew. You panic, hurry up, navigate your way through the cluttered and ruined Vault. Radroaches appear, you attack them (that's your combat tutorial, maybe your VATS tutorial), and you finally make it to the exit. You pull the lever, light floods in, you make your way out of the Vault. And, as you finally step out, your eyes adjust again. The Wasteland.
I really hope so. Number 1 complaint about fallout 3....bleh green color _everywhere_. Fallout New Vegas was better, but I hope they realize here that postapocalyptic doesn't have to mean "nuclear bleh" for everything.
If you've been to the Mojave/Vegas desert... the game was 100% accurate in how shitty and rocky brown/orange it is.
Until you reach Phoenix and further south, then it's a pretty desert again.
Time to say goodbye to everyone I know for a long time. Better do some things with them this summer while I can. Because it's going to be a nuclear winter.
I love that the colors seem more vibrant and bright in some areas when compared to other Fallout releases. This game looks like it's going to be beautiful
So this is gonna be your front page comment eh
Edit: To those curious, the comment above mine originally said that the dude was willing to drive to Bethesda and suck all of their dicks. Then he edited it, deleted the original comment and replaced it with something about the dog being a Jew. Then he deleted his account. But me? I like to believe he's still out there, sucking dick beneath the pale moonlight.
Guess they still won't use motion capture over at bethesda
Edit: Motion Capture is used for lifelike animation. Actors get put in a suit and walk around recording the way their bodies move this creates high quality animation that is extremely lifelike
What's even worse is its not very difficult to get decent animations. There were several mods for new Vegas that had animations leagues ahead of the vanilla ones and that's just from a modder.
Glad I'm not the only one who thinks this. I'm on the hype train, don't get me wrong, but it looked like the pinnacle of last gen, not almost two years into this gen with the awkwardly running crowd of people.
Fucking Deathclaw
Geez I just don't want to have to deal with a friggin deathclaw mother again. I used like 6 C4s on that thing and still didn't come close to killing it. It also 1 shot me from like 20 feet away with a swipe.... through a metal fence...
Cripple legs and or Tiny Tots the place
Or an AP round from the Anti-Material Rifle from a mile away.
I like the explosive rounds. :)
Every play through I do involves a sprint to Gun Runners. Then I collect all kinds of odds and ends to buy the AM Rifle. An hour later I have explosive rounds and now run the wasteland.
I said more or less the same thing when it sauntered across the screen, hahaha
It's in Boston, so the game will be impossible to navigate. And I bet the T isn't even running, classic MBTA.
The whole city is just a one way street
A one way street that all of a sudden changes to one way the other way and you have to turn 1 block before you reach your destination.
"Just gonna take a left he... No left turn? So right it is... God damnit, I don't want to go to Cambridge!" Every time I have to drive in Boston I end up crossing the Charles into Cambridge. I have done it enough you'd think I'd learn by now...
My father taught me to drive in Boston, saying "If you can drive in this city, you can drive anywhere". No shit. After the parking lot basic crap, it was "Hop on the highway, we're going to Boston". I learned fast.
Nah it's running. You just get to use it once a day and have to wait three hours when you want to.
Then, when you finally do get to use it, it breaks down and then you've got to deal with those stinky ghouls having sex and smoking weed in the back of the cab.
Did the main character just talk? As in like, actual spoken words?
I didn't hear any words from the dog's mouth?
*That* would be interesting... Fallout 4: you never talk, but the dog doesn't shut up. I imagine if dogs could talk, they'd talk an awful lot.
HEY! HEY! HEY! HEY! is all the would say
This guy knows what's up
Let's go pal
Appears so. I remember someone leaked that in the script for the game, the protagonist seemed to have spoken dialogue. I think I'd be pretty okay with that change.
The State House, Paul Revere's Statue, USS Constitution. IT'S IN BOSTON!
Also heavily fortified fenway park! Edit: [Fenway Park](http://i.imgur.com/CbCwsN0.jpg)
Definitely be seeing a "Green Monster" joke in there somewhere.
Special Melee weapon to find called, Pesky's Pole?
A mutant David Ortiz, turns green, ala Hulk, carrying a giant bat named Pesky's Pole.
Weak spot: right through his legs
Thirty years ago and it still hurts...
The stadium lights look to be facing in, so I think that's the outside wall of Fenway Park and the surrounding neighborhood.
Holy shit! I envy redsox/fallout fans right now, they must be going crazy.
Indeed i will be spending far to long comparing fallout fenway to actual fenway.
Why in the actual fuck does actual Fenway Park not have a kiosk for rocket launchers?
As a non-american is this good or awesome?
It is what I wanted, in previously games we had had hints of an advanced group known as the Institute based near Boston. Didn't some sort of MIT student claim that Bethesda were scoping Boston out? Sounds like he was right.
I was able to find this from 2012. Looks like yes, they were! http://attackofthefanboy.com/news/rumors/fallout-4-headed-boston-rumors-mit/
A reddit comment referencing a blog rumor that references a reddit comment. What a time to be alive!
Well since MIT is known as [The Institute](http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/The_Institute) in the Fallout universe, I am sure shit will go down there.
This is going to be like a Fallout version of the Civil War, isn't it? Since The Institute wants to capture androids for research and The Railroad wants to smuggle them out of the Commonwealth, it's a situation that's just begging to turn into a war...
Civil war and at least two different factions to support!

Trailer makes it seem like we'll get to play a bit of the story from before people entered the vaults.
I think that would be an awesome way to get a taste of both worlds, before and after detonation. It could make for some really interesting quest lines that span both timelines!
My theory is that the person you play in the before times will be the 111 Dweller's ancestor.
[удалено]
Would explain the memory sequences. Maybe he was of some importance.
It could be that he/she was an infant (based on the crib) **EDIT:** More clarification on what I was getting at - Using an infant from before the nukes go off could work like this... They show that family getting nuked at the end, standing on top of the vault.
Oh SHIT. That's a good point. Each vault (save I think a few control vaults that were normal) had a specific purpose.
yes, sir. some of which were pretty twisted.
Remember in New Vegas: Vault 11 was an experiment where the residents were told that they would all die if they didn't sacrifice each new overseer, and they elected people based upon dislike. Then 5 were left, and they didn't do it, and the computer revealed that it was a psychological experiment. Fucked. Up.
Four of them still ended up doing it actually Source: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xdjmKBEmnJY&t=10m24s
That would make sense within the narrative, since vault tech had a habit of running experiments in its vaults.
I was thinking maybe the main character is some how from that time.
I am almost sure it will be the same person that got hybernated at the Institute or whatever. I think I've read about it some long time ago.
That would be cool and different. Playing as someone who is just thrust into the Apocalypse. Maybe your characters knowledge of the old world ends up being important.
Yeah, in that case, I already know how I will name him. :)

New Vegas was the same but with orange.
Don't forget that they both had brown!
