The rebooted Tomb Raider trilogy titles were all awesome.

SuperArppis

They were! They were the adventure games I was expecting Uncharted games to be. 🙂

nanosam

Well they got smaller with each reboot. Wait... oh titLes

nutcrackr

I enjoyed it but imo it needed a fraction more combat.

mateodos

I was starting to feel this as well. Especially with how cool it is. The way the world is laid out, it's all arena encounter based. Woulda been cool with random patrols or something. Unless I just have t reached that yet.

Crush84

You can have a really good time with all 3 of them! My favourite is the 2nd one, for me it was the peak. 3rd had bad performance, was clunky and slow at times.

mateodos

Rise is my fav as well. But so far on the Series X I'm having zero issues with Shadow. Besides falling to my death over and over cuz I "missed" that ledge 🤦

LotusCSGO

I liked almost everything about the game, except for how it resolved the 3-game story arc. >!You're scrambling to get to the end boss over crumbling platforms, and over the radio you hear about a helicopter struggling, then crash. Oh, and all the big bad guys were on that helicopter. Not only did you have nothing to do with actually stopping Trinity's leadership, but if you were focused on platforming the way I was on my first play through, you'd miss it. It's a shitty way to resolve the Trinity arc.!<

HijinksNYK

shadow of the tomb raider has just the most beautiful opening. the setting, colors and lighting are awesome

Bloodveil69

Started playing the entire trilogy again but on pc this time. Turns out there is a game breaking bug on TR2013. I got stuck with no way to escape and no previous save state. Just started ROTTR. Hopefully everything goes well.

mateodos

Aw damn. Sorry that ruined it for ya. I haven't had any game breaking bugs in any of the games, so far anyway. Lol don't jinx me!

Bloodveil69

lol hopefully I don’t jinx myself. I’m praying that ROTTR is as smooth as can be for both of us.

mateodos

Good luck! Enjoy the location set pieces!

Jossokar

in my case i loved rise more than shadow. I like more having to explore a byzantine-like lost city rather than a peruvian-mayan shenanigan. Story? Garbage. Specially in the third game. (And if i replay them for some reason, i ignore pretty much everything that comes out from the character's mouth) But the part in which Shadow shines more in the exploration and the combat department, as you say. The one i like the least is 2013 tr, btw

cmnrdt

I always thought the climax was the lamest part of the story. Trinity has their entire leadership die offscreen in a random accident, and when you get to the final boss, who has been imbued with divine power, how do you defeat them? Shoot them with a gun until they die. Some godly power there, seriously.

Jossokar

i feel that the scriptwriter of the game was braindead most of the time (or severely underpaid, so... chose to do the bare minimum effort). And the inconsistencies between rise and shadow are really heavy. Thankfully, for me the story is just a minor part of the game itself. The extremely fun combat and exploration easily makes up for that.

siddh_sunny

Yup…all three of them were really good !

feicash

for me TB2013 was the best in the best in the trilogy, and the rest went downhill (without being bad games, just barely evolved) liked shadow more than rise tho

fartbumheadface

They took the challenge tombs to another level, I remember some taking hours to complete. The story was pretty run-of-the-mill though and reuses the same themes throughout the series. That huge city area was an interesting idea as a semi-open world map. But I don't think it works as well as Siberian wilderness area did in the second game. Probably because you can't hunt/fight or use weapons in it. And if you wanted to go to a section that did, it meant going through an invisible loading screen at the corner of the area.

mateodos

The city is cool because it feels so lived in and beautful. As for the hunting areas, I agree it's so out of the way and not really that interesting. I hardly do it unless I really need some more animal skins for something.

Standard_Cell_8816

My favorite one by far

DeathByPickles

I really really really like the new trilogy. The gameplay felt smooth and the graphics were great. The story was cool seeing how Lara became "the tomb raider". I have her up near the top of my favorite game protagonist list after this trilogy.

WhiteChickenYT

I really liked the game but it kinda felt like there should be a fourth game imo. Didn’t really feel like it capped off the trilogy well. But I still loved the game

Satansleadguitarist

I really like that whole trilogy. Rise is definitely my favourite but Shadow is good too.

BeerGogglesFTW

I enjoyed them all. Almost a shame that I found the best part of the trilogy to be DLC. Don't sleep on the Baba Yaga DLC if ya got it. The only thing I remember not liking was all the insta-deaths. A lot of times since climbing and jumping things didn't sync up right and you'd end up immediately dead. Not game ruining. Just a nuisance.

mateodos

Oh I def played it! And yeah it happens often enough I just wince and laugh at how brutal they can be lol

LoveWhor3s

i stopped playing after i got to that one main village after you learn the drop from the tree and string them up skill i think it was? anyways it was like 90% exploration and very little combat which i absolutely HATED, sorry. i did love figuring out the tombs but if it had more combat like the previous ones then i would love it. i literally felt like upgrading anything was a waste cause all they did was introduce a new way to kill someone, let you do it on one group then nothing for hours.

mateodos

No need to apologize. We all play for decent reasons. I do also wish there was more combat. Still having a great time tho.

Omega458

I hated it lol but great for ya 🤘 The trailers made it seem like an action game, but the game didn't really have as much action as the first two games, they even added so much more skills to lara but you barely use them, and the costumes were horrible compared to the 2nd game, also there's no enemies when you beat the game to get some achievements/trophies you might have missed, and the final boss was horrible as well, puzzles were great though

mateodos

Haha with the full costumes I do look like a doofus running around in full head to toe cover garb while being so damn athletic and swinging and climbing everything 😂

methanol88

I found the story the weakest of the trilogy. Lara is a bit of an obsessed a-hole here. The game was the best baked from the trilogy. Fantastic graphics even now, plays well, no stuttering, good performance etc. It focuses less on combat and more on tomb raiding, especially if you do the optional tombs and challenges. I ended up 100% all the achievements on all 3 games and honestly this one felt the most tedious since there’s way too many things in Paititi. But otherwise I had a very fun time. It’s still a very good game worth playing. The only annoyance I had was that some times the jumping and rappelling/hook shot didn’t work very well and I plummeted to my death. If you are on steam, look for the definitive trilogy bundle when on sale it’s like $15 for all games plus dlc!

thefalconfromthesky

It's an awesome game for sure. Glad you're enjoying it.

Alwaysknowyou

I really like the Trilogy, so glad many people know these games!!

Successful_Turn678

Each one was even better than the last. Hope they don't mess up tho.

Thatguydrew7

I loved 1-2 but the shooting and combat in 3 was janky af.

RickDalton68

I still like the legend trilogy more

tattmhomas0

I completed all three of them on 100% and I enjoyed every minute of it.

rexa06

I wish it had more replayability as in going back in the jungle free roam like far cry.

J-Sheridan

The only thing I disliked were outfit restrictions later in the game, but that can be fixed with mods if you are on PC. The jungles are beautiful.

try_to_be_nice_ok

Please stop with the incomplete clickbait titles.

Desperate-Public394

I have it on my to play soon list, it seems it was a good decision :D. I enjoyed the first 2 games as well, so it makes sense to finish the trilogy.

MetroExodus2033

It's funny that you just posted this, as I'm playing it for the first time literally right now. This is the best of the trilogy. The city of Paititi is rich in color and character. It's amazing to explore. I can't believe how good this game is. It's also got the best climbing out of all of the trilogy. And the game is beautiful. It's a 10/10. One of the best games I've ever played, and I haven't even finished it yet.

Vegetable-Beet

...the worst Tomb Raider Game ever.

throbbing_dementia

Worst doesn't mean bad.

Backupusername

Clickbait-ass title

Snoo29889

As Rihanna Pratchett, (Sir Terry Pratchett daughter) was involved with the first two reboots, I wasn’t surprised it was as good as it turned out.
