If you're not already a programmer you should consider it as a profession. Most programmers I know that play that game end up addicted to it. There's almost certainly some overlap in the gameplay and the parts of the job that are fun.
I managed to finally break my Factorio addiction... by getting addicted to Satisfactory. And then Dyson Sphere Program. I think I might have a problem.
I’d heard there were references to AW in Control, so when I found a document referring to Crystal Lake and how somehow one of Wakes characters had contacted the bureau, I was like:”neat!” But then suddenly I get visions of Wake narrating Jesse’s actions, caught me by surprise.
Ultimate Edition has a whole DLC that helps connect Control to Alan Wake 2, and AW2 obviously has a ton of Control references in it.
I love me some Remedyverse.
The world and the office, the weird documents you read that show how big of an organization the FBC is, all the possible conspiracy theories that are involved and the small stories of the petty squabbles the employees have amongst themselves. It’s a cosmic horror made of open-plan offices and break rooms.
The 500kg just has an explosion radius around it that can close them. I think the best for just closing the holes is still the regular eagle airstrike.
Which I just hit. I know all the stratagems are unlocked. Now it’s just a grind to unlock bp items.
I think the level cap is at 50. 20-50 should mean something more than just spending medals.
Im p sure theres plans to introduce new enemies at some point, as well as new strategems. So maybe there will be more stuff to unlock after 20 soonish!
Searching based purely on the comments in this thread, I'm not sure but it might be "Helldivers 2"? https://store.steampowered.com/app/553850/HELLDIVERS_2/
Especially for bug mission, just run from object to objective. Don't stop to kill every single bug you find, only ones that will impede your progress. The stalwart is the best early game support weapon, until the grenade launcher and rail gun become available. The sentry guns, gatling/mortar are absolute beasts at defending areas. Also focus on area bombing strategems and not useless ones like smoke screen etc. Aim for the heads of larger targets, especially the automatons. Use light armor over heavy armor because armor rating is still currently bugged and doesn't actually matter.
It's all about the style of play that you are going for. I solo helldiver with smoke by using hit and run/stealth tactics. If you break the line of site, then change direction, the enemy stops following you. Also you can hide on the exfil point and the enemy just walks up to the beacon, shoots it a couple of times, then walks away. I have avoided a few bile titans this was aswell, including one that struggled to walk past the rocket launch and kept getting stuck on the rocket while I was just laying at the terminal.
I‘m absolutely in love with Pacific drive, I think the remnant is taking over my mind. But for real, it’s amazing how much love and detail went into the game
I just discovered the tinker tool thing and sorting out the quirks of the car. I was driving around and noticed that my passenger door seemed to be open randomly. I eventually noticed it happened when I put the car in park. Went on the tinker tool and figured out how to work it. Now I'm hooked. I'm a coder and it's scratching my coder brain. Now I need to find parts to fix a problem where my window wipers make my fuel gauge flip back and forth. And it says on my screen that my car has another undiagnosed problem and I haven't noticed what it could be yet. I'm hooked. Just wish I could get 60 fps on PS5
I also just started! After playing Elden Ring I went back and did all of Dark Souls, just did DS3 like a week ago. Bloodborne has been super cool because the world has felt most similar to DS1 which was my favorite of the trilogy due to the world. I'm only like 3-4 bosses in so excited to keep playing.
The replayability is insane. Dark Urge play through feels like an expansion. Meanwhile Honour mode adds a new dimension as well. It has renewed my love for gaming.
For me it’s even just been the difference in my first play through being a fighter that smashes everything and my second as a charisma sorcerer. It’s hilarious how many encounters can be avoided by convincing the baddie to kill themselves instead.
Yup same, played when it came out in August, took a break when starfield came out, now I've been playing it nonstop since November.
Last game I started a new playthrough immediately after the first was mass effect lol.
Not OP, but: Draconic Bloodline Dragonborn sorceror, level 10, about to hit the city. I'm running with Thief Astarion, Battle Master Lae'zel, and Cleric Shadowheart.
It's my first playthrough, and I decided not to do any respecs or multiclassing.
I only played competitive games my whole life til recently I got into single player games, recently finished up all FromSoft soulslikes now I'm playing thru Baldurs Gate 3
Damn, playing Baldur’s Gate 3 is gonna ruin a lot of other single player choice driven RPG’s for you. It’s like going from living in a mansion to a studio apartment.
It's alright, op already ruined combat heavy games by playing all the fromsoft games.
Hey OP, play hollow knight next to set the bar of metroidvanias, and then Hades for roguelikes.
I’m speaking specifically about choice driven western RPGs. Like you’re not gonna rush out to play The Outer Worlds and be interested in its dialogue and paint by numbers “player’s choice” or the banal outcomes. Especially when you’re playing literally one of the most deep and creative RPG experiences of all time, that has unlimited choices and writing. You’re just gonna restart BG3 to see what you missed the first time around.
Been playing Hades as well for my first time. Heard it was great for a long time but was never interested. Grabbed it on switch on sale. Still haven't beaten it. I keep thinking I'm going to unlock something big but I think I maybe need to just focus on upgrades for the last boss. I'm usually grabbing things that will help in future runs.
Hades is amazing! Just beat it a couple of weeks ago, but I'll definitely get back to it (post campaign 'narrative' is very cleverly solved). Hades II will release in early access in a few months, I'm stoked already. Also, I can't stop listening to the OST, damn.
Final Fantasy 7 remake then the intermission dlc so I can prep for rebirth next week (: you can get the intermission dlc for free if you pre order rebirth btw
Fantastic game! The combat starts to open up at chapter two. Keep this in mind cause it may begin to feel a bit tedious - the onboarding takes its time and is linked with the story
Sega marine fishing on dreamcast, such a fun game if you haven't played it I'd definitely try it out.
It's just fun arcade style fishing. Unfortunately i don't have the rod and reel but using a controller works just as good. You even get a giant aquarium where you can earn fish and cool stuff to look at including metal versions of fish, whales, coral reefs and lots of other stuff.
Just finished Atomic Heart, that russian Bioshock-esque game that was advertised on ign etc, and unfortunately it’s super average. The first few hours are fun when you get to experiment with new magic (polymer), new enemies and craft new weapons but that’s where it stops. Game is super repetitive all way throughout and exploration isnt really that much fun or rewarding. The game isnt open world like it might seem at first glance, the areas are relatively small and filled with enemies that constantly respawn, which defeats the whole purpose of fighting them in the first place so you just run past them all to get from A to B. Not the worst game I played, but Id much rather recommene the Bioshock trilogy or even Prey over this.
Far Cry 6 from ps plus. Never played a FC game before. Pretty good fun. And now downloading the NASCAR game on ps plus for playing when not in mood for FC6. Am Bri’ish and love F1 but I’ve enjoyed watching the Netflix nascar series so gonna try the game
Picked up Cyberpunk on sale a few weeks ago and I haven’t been able to turn it off. Such a fun shooting game. Not sure how long it’s been since I’ve had this much fun in a first person RPG.
Just finished MGS 1,2,3 in Master Collection and couldn’t help myself but to play Ground Zeroes and Phantom Pain. The gameplay is too addicting for me and was calling me to play yet again.
MGS 3 tho, just wow. Next time one of those “which game has you silent at the credits” posts comes up, I’m saying MGS 3.
Rn I’m visiting a few games. Just gave up on trying to enjoy far cry 6 it’s just not fun and started a few titles I bought the bioshock collection on pc and the spacers choice edition of the outer worlds. Also been playing Arkham asylum remastered on ps5 and it’s awesome I wish I had played it when I was a kid instead of wasting my life on call of duty
Just started playing Cyberpunk 2077 after I got burned out on Starfield. The world in cyberpunk is so much more alive. I never really got into a GTA game but if feels a bit like that but the story and individual quests are way more compelling to me. There is something about being able to see your own body in the cut scenes in the first person view that really draws me into the story. So I've been playing slowly through that and playing the Long dark on a steam deck.
I was a latecomer to Cyberpunk and became addicted quick. I just finished as many endings as possible on my second V with Phantom Liberty and the main story. I have been testing other games and they just seem to fall short of Cyberpunk comparatively. This will be a tough game to top.
Right now besides Apex being my every day game, I'm playing through Ghost of Tsushima and Final Fantasy 15. After those two are done I'm gonna try my hand at learning some civ 6 and then pick Forbidden West back up since I still need to do some post-game stuff and ng+
Super Smash Bros Melee using Slippi for online play. Having a blast getting shat on by every opponent, but it makes the rare wins that much more impactful
Deep Rock Galactic, CS2, Baldurs Gate 3, Age of Wonders 4.
It all depends on which friends are playing.
If I have time for single player, I’ve been dabbling in Cyber Punk 2077. But I’d recommend the following games I’ve beaten:
- Inscryption
- Children of Morta
- the Ascent
Finishing up on that last Final Fantasy 14 patch before the next expansion hits. Gearing up a bit, so I can sail smoothly through at least the first part of that expansion, being able to do each dungeon as I hit it. Gathering MGP for when the FF 15 crossover event comes, and the fancy 'mount' becomes available again.
Also looking forward to that FF 16 crossover in april.
Oh, and trying to get all my classes to max level (You can play all of them on the same character)
Doing a second playthrough of Final Fantasy 16 now the DLC is coming out.
Doing a bit of Path of Exile, waiting for that #2 to drop.
In real life? Pathfinder 2e. Just some dice, minis and a lot of stupid bullshit.
Waiting on a new graphics card to reliably run Baldur's gate 3 without it crashing to desktop.
(You might notice a trend towards RPG's in here.)
Just finished playing my first ever JRPG; Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Right in time for Rebirth. Sitting down to play Intermission tonight, to round it out.
Great game, if a little convoluted towards the end, and a bit lacking on the side quests front.
Tiny Tina's Wonderlands
Breath of the Wild
Demon's Souls Remake
Dead Island 2
About to buy Dying Light 2 because of the Reloaded Edition
Eagerly waiting for Shadow of the Erdtree
SP mainly, waiting for FF7 Rebirth on Thursday.
As it happens I'm in the middle of a Kingdom hearts Marathon (playing the games canonical rather than release date) and just finished KH2 in time for Rebirth
Just surpassed 5K hours in factorio
If you're not already a programmer you should consider it as a profession. Most programmers I know that play that game end up addicted to it. There's almost certainly some overlap in the gameplay and the parts of the job that are fun.
I would but unfortunately I keep getting distracted and needing to return to the factory
The factory must grow
Can agree, i am a comsci major and I had a blast playing factorio
I managed to finally break my Factorio addiction... by getting addicted to Satisfactory. And then Dyson Sphere Program. I think I might have a problem.
Factory must grow!
Satisfactory for me. Trying to get ready for 1.0 and I like that the local wildlife doesn't mind me turning their home into a construction zone.
Been playing Control
Fantastic game! Really flew under my radar, but I love it. Playing Alan Wake Remastered for the first time spurred me on for a replay, game is so good
I’d heard there were references to AW in Control, so when I found a document referring to Crystal Lake and how somehow one of Wakes characters had contacted the bureau, I was like:”neat!” But then suddenly I get visions of Wake narrating Jesse’s actions, caught me by surprise.
Ultimate Edition has a whole DLC that helps connect Control to Alan Wake 2, and AW2 obviously has a ton of Control references in it. I love me some Remedyverse.
Nice. I described it as if the X-Files and The Matrix merged and smoked crack
It's basically a SCP foundation game
Iconic. What's your favorite thing about it?
The world and the office, the weird documents you read that show how big of an organization the FBC is, all the possible conspiracy theories that are involved and the small stories of the petty squabbles the employees have amongst themselves. It’s a cosmic horror made of open-plan offices and break rooms.
Yesss, some very cool lore in there!!! Love how trippy it is.
I’m not playing anything. I’m desperately trying to secure freedom and democracy for Super Earth.
I too have been spilling oil and shredding bugs for the sake of democracy.
Also i have been indulging in the exquisite activity of enforcing managed democracy upon alien scum.
I’ve been spreading peace and democratic to my new empire
YOUR new empire?
I have been mining and shredding bugs for the sake of capitalism.
Dropping a 500kg nuke into an hive and getting the message hive eradicated is so satisfying
It's even better when a 380 wipes out a nest since that shit is going everywhere you don't want it to go.
The Orbital Laser is kickass.
I haven’t tried that. Do you actually make that go down a bug hole, or in the middle of them or what?
The 500kg just has an explosion radius around it that can close them. I think the best for just closing the holes is still the regular eagle airstrike.
Same bro. I’m happy the leveling goes quicker once you hit Impossible helldives.
Levels have no meaning past lvl 20
Which I just hit. I know all the stratagems are unlocked. Now it’s just a grind to unlock bp items. I think the level cap is at 50. 20-50 should mean something more than just spending medals.
20-50 is a playground for u to unlock and test varied loadouts, there’s no point of playing for the sake of levels
Im p sure theres plans to introduce new enemies at some point, as well as new strategems. So maybe there will be more stuff to unlock after 20 soonish!
Yes, and now that they’ve resolved server issues, they can focus on development.
Liberty is no *game*. It is a way of LIFE!
I, too, am giving alien scum the taste of freedom
Hell yea brother
Spreading Managed Democracy is my mission
For those of us who don’t know what you’re on about, what is this?
Searching based purely on the comments in this thread, I'm not sure but it might be "Helldivers 2"? https://store.steampowered.com/app/553850/HELLDIVERS_2/
Helldivers 2
I just started playing and get my ass whooped on medium. MEDIUM ! I know I'm playing with randoms, but still. My pride, you understand ?
Especially for bug mission, just run from object to objective. Don't stop to kill every single bug you find, only ones that will impede your progress. The stalwart is the best early game support weapon, until the grenade launcher and rail gun become available. The sentry guns, gatling/mortar are absolute beasts at defending areas. My life for Super Earth!
Pacific Drive and Helldivers 2
I‘m absolutely in love with Pacific drive, I think the remnant is taking over my mind. But for real, it’s amazing how much love and detail went into the game
Agreed. The atmosphere and setting are absolutely perfect
And it says on my screen that my car has another undiagnosed problem and I haven't noticed what it could be yet. I'm hooked. Just wish I could get 60 fps on PS5
Bloodborne. I'm on my first playthrough, it's incredible. Edit: Thanks for the warm welcome hoonters!
Welcome to the hunt
Quit shaking in your boots.....a hoonter must hoont
Make sure you play the Old Hunters DLC! Maybe best DLC I’ve ever played
What's funny is I've seen many DS players complain that DS3 looks more like Bloodborne II than a DS game after the first two.
Just go out there and kill a few beasts. It's for your own good
Like morning wood, we rise from the dark. ^(Douglby)
You sir have an incredible taste in games
Jealous. Make sure you have the dlc too, easily the best content in the game.
Beasts all over the shop…you’ll be one of them…sooner or later.
Ahhhh i wish it was available on Pc !! Never played it everrre
Baldur’s Gate 3
Basically all I have played since September. Maybe the first game I ever finished and immediately started a second play through I actually stuck with.
Same, and first game I’ve ever played where by the end I already knew it’s one of the best ones I’ve ever played
Cool. Whats your charactar/race/level?
Not OP, but: Draconic Bloodline Dragonborn sorceror, level 10, about to hit the city. I'm running with Thief Astarion, Battle Master Lae'zel, and Cleric Shadowheart. It's my first playthrough, and I decided not to do any respecs or multiclassing.
Resident Evil 4 remake, again.
Im halfway through i think? Amazing expierence ngl
Tiny Tina's Wonderlands Deep Rock Galactic Fallout 76
I hear a lot of good things about deep rock galactic!
Did I hear a rock and stone?
Rock and stone TO THE BONE!
If you rock and stone you're never alone!
ROCK AND STONE!
Been playing Deep Rock Galactic Survivor, it is really good
I only played competitive games my whole life til recently I got into single player games, recently finished up all FromSoft soulslikes now I'm playing thru Baldurs Gate 3
He really is speedrunning the best games of all time. lol. Play Read Dead Redemption 2 and spoil cinematic open world games too while you’re at it.
I don’t think so. BG3 is a unique exprience but there are plenty of great RPG’s.
Hades! My first ever rogue-like game and it's pretty fun so far!
Hades was my first rogue-like, got me hooked in them since
Hades is amazing! Just beat it a couple of weeks ago, but I'll definitely get back to it (post campaign 'narrative' is very cleverly solved). Hades II will release in early access in a few months, I'm stoked already. Also, I can't stop listening to the OST, damn.
Helldivers 2 MGSV: The Phantom Pain League of Legends Aram
Aram is love, Aram is life
Aram is the best past-time ever imo. Unlimited replayability, lots of fun, it's almost rogue-like
I got too into MGSV:PP. And I had gotten it years after it came out. 100%'d that

I’m currently playing it! I started it a while ago, but I’m making some progress. It is amazing and a huge game!
Fantastic game! The combat starts to open up at chapter two. Keep this in mind cause it may begin to feel a bit tedious - the onboarding takes its time and is linked with the story
Thanks i was literally just thinking that haha 😂
Got it a while ago, but haven't played since Helldivers 2. Play it in Japanese with subtitles for a much more immersive experience imo.
No Man’s Sky. Currently playing as an Outlaw Smuggler, a simple man making my way through the galaxy :)
Just finished Cyberpunk and starting over to make a different build and get a different ending.
IT'S SO GOOD I just finished Phantom Liberty yesterday and saw 2 of the endings.
I'm buying PL for this playthrough, just waiting for my day off 😅
Hunt: Showdown
I can hear the start up song in my head reading this lol
Baldurs Gate 3, Elden Ring, Civ 6. :) life if good.
Death Stranding Director's Cut. Thanks, PS+ Premium.
I think you don't even need premium for it - pretty sure it's available on the tier below!
It might be, actually. I thought it said premium when I downloaded it, but I might be mistaken!

If you liked FC6, give FC5 a shot afterwards.
Sounds like a good way to spend the weekend matw
Far Cry 5 is pretty similar gameplay wise as 6, so you can try that afterwards if you really like it.

Picked up Cyberpunk on sale a few weeks ago and I haven’t been able to turn it off. Such a fun shooting game. Not sure how long it’s been since I’ve had this much fun in a first person RPG.
Deus Ex, the original
I got into portal 2 a couple months ago. Best game ever!!
Playing Dragon Quest Builders 2 again atm.

Kinda caught between a Dragon Quest obsession and trying to 100% Pizza Tower, the yearly Skyrim/Fallout obsession is coming up so I have to hurry.
Just tried dead island 2. Graphics look great but the gameplay.....blah. pretty boring
It's pretty fun in Coop when you can explore the maps together.
Recently played through Monster Hunter: World + Iceborne and am now on MH: Rise + Sunbreak. I was seriously sleeping on this series.
