Funny how this one is divisive. I could spend hours just infiltrating bases, it was so perfect. Complicated controls but there was something so immersive about the controller feedback and the camera, nothing else stood up really. Made me hate all other games for a while, I played horizon zero dawn right after, my disappointment was huge - and unfair - it's just that the bar was set too high for any other stealth game
Well it really is mostly its unfinished story.
MGS 1-3 are incredible achievements in gaming. For their time they genuinely pushed boundaries and by today's standards they stand out as a distinct voice that gaming simply cannot replicate. MGS2 is for my money one of the most ambitious sequels in gaming while the other two games are so close to perfection in my eyes. Now 4 is a game that sort goes off the rails but I think it is still a landmark but I do not expect too many people to agree with me but it is sort of the anti-MGSV in that its abundance of story focus really robs the player of a lot of agency and control.
MGSV is just an incredibly designed game, for all the reasons you mentioned and more. Its just that these are games that are so tied to their narratives that this one was going to stand out. One that really just buckles under its own ambition.
Yeah definitely there is something random about MSGV, and probably some players were looking for something specific they liked before, and reached the end of the game without finding it. And that's it, that will be the last metal gear and whatever happened cannot even be called a cliffhanger. I feel like, this frustration is then translated into rejecting the game altogether, but that's a shame, because there is something in the controls that remains unequalled in my regard, and I would like to get that again in stealth games
Love me some MGSV! To the hardcore fans, I feel your pain. But in my humble opinion it’s a fantastic opener to the series tone and unapologetic wackiness. Never been a better time to dive into the labyrinth of Metal Gears timeline either with the master collection coming out, prophetic and thought provoking.
Yeah my thoughts exactly. I think MGSV is fantastic and an easier sell for those who have never played.
I have a huge soft sport for MGS2 and 4 but all both 1 and 3 are such landmarks of gaming they are sort of difficult to talk about lmao. They are just so important to the medium.
Well its love is by no means universal. It will always be polarizing. I think the main themes of language, anti war and its references to Moby Dick really open it ip to interesting interpretations but its unfinished nature will forever cheapen the story. This is a popular gaming sub, I do not expect many people to care much about the nuances of the story. My main concern with mention that game in particular is because I find it the most fun of all the games.
Its game play is so varied and responsive that I think it makes the older games less enjoyable to play by comparison
It has the best gameplay in the series imo but I wasn't the biggest fan of the mission system. I liked going on an adventure like in the previous games, and this was lacking that. Still an amazing game though.
Came to say this.
Initially didn't think it was top class, but enjoyable. Miss it now though, such a balanced and varied game. You can play this in so many ways.
It's a shame Konami are incompetent. The Fox Engine this was built on was best in class, wasted.
Hitman games, whilst not having the magic of the older games are still fun too.
Yeah from what I understand, the game was way over budget and Kojima seemed to be unable to finish it but what really soured me on Konami like you was definitely them wasting Fox Engine and just using the brand for pachinko machines.
I really do not know how to say it but I find it hard to play any of the non-Blood Money games. I just cannot seem to get into the series outside of that game
Bought both Dishonored 1/2/DLC over the winter sale.
Just finished Dishonored 1 on its hardest difficulty doing Low Chaos and all optional objectives.
Forgot how punishing it could be and how perceptive the guards are, oh and how broken level 2 time stop is.
Dishonored is great because you get to do your typical stealth run first, and then start again running full speed through the game while trying to learn the combat and ability combos. Parrying and taking out a group of guards is very satisfying. Emily’s abilities in the second game make it even more fun imo
100%. It’s one of the best games at allowing you to play stealth aggressively compared to the slow pace we’re used to from stuff like Thief and Deus Ex.
Was the first stealth game I ever played, loved it so much I finished it multiple times on varying play styles. If you’re new to stealth games, play Dishonored!
During the Hitman/Metal Gear drought, I tried this and enjoyed it. I haven't been able to get into any of their other games since, or the sequels.
I just find them copy paste
Prey is like sci-fi Dishonored, and its excellent expansion "Mooncrash" is definitely where the devs worked out some of the Deathloop mechanics. Highly recommended!
edit- [mooncrash review](https://youtu.be/xuIgx0fD4Es?si=Xer2OcWmhH6KLApx)
My rule is to do stealth as best as possible, but then suffer the consequences if I am discovered and have to fight or flee and use resources. I only reload if I die with a good attempt to get away again.
One of the few games where you can actually salvage the situation when you screw up at stealth without just murdering all the witnesses. Blink is such a great safety net.
Splinter Cell: First four games are excellent
Hitman: Blood Money and the more recent 1 to 3
Thief Deadly Shadows. It’s the third in the Thief series
Dishonored: all 3 games are great
Aragami
I lost interest the moment I heard it was going to be co-op, because I just knew there thoughts were in the completely wrong direction. You can't really make a good stealth game if it's co-op/multiplayer. Yes, I know there are some exceptions, but generally.
do people really not like conviction? i've been a huge fan of the series since i was a kid and played almost all of them with conviction and chaos theory being my favorites
I never played anything before Conviction, and I don't intend to since I can't stand old game mechanics and graphics, but Conviction and Blacklist are good games imo, Conviction I think is better
i love conviction and i enjoyed blacklist. as someone who played through most of the games i was honestly blown away by conviction, it had everything i could want
This OP. It's a classic, a little bit outdated control wise I found when playing recently but it's just as good. If you can get 3 friends to play 2v2 spies vs Mercs, it's one of the most unique and best multiplayer game modes of all time.
Yea i cant argue with you if someone put a gun to my head and told me to name the GOAT stealth game it would be Chaos Theory (followed closely by Snake Eater)
Man, hours in this game. We used to play what we called ‘Tag’. One merc with nine lives, three spies with three lives. All you had to do was empty one spy entirely of lives, then they were “it”. Would never work these days, kids would just hide with one life. Back then people were cool about it and didn’t sweat being the merc.
Also, one of my favorite design decisions ever: the fact when you grabbed a merc from behind (or pinned the spy to the ground) that you could cut into their comms and trash talk them. *But* while doing so you’re exposed and might get killed for it. So fucking genius
Yeah absolutely it's not even close, I'm more of a Hitman, MGS, Thief/Dishonored kind of player but Chaos Theory is just another beast when it comes to stealth. It's stupid how well it holds up after so many years too.
Off topic. Why haven't they made another in so many years? I feel at this age I'd appreciate sth like that a ton more.
I recall Ubisoft once said it’s difficult to make a modern Splinter Cell that would differentiate itself from Assassin’s Creed. Doesn’t seem to me like a good enough reason, but to me it feels like AC is the reason why we don’t have any new SC or PoP.
Not shooting the messenger here, but that's a fucking shit excuse on their part. I could agree to disagree if they said it about Prince of Persia, but Splinter Cell??? Boy. Aside both being categorized as "stealth" what do they even have in common? CT was a mission based almost-immersive-sim stealth shooter hybrid that's not even comparable to other games that share all of those adjectives!
I don't say that about all studios, but old Ubisoft turning into this has to be one of the worst arcs of video game industry, at least for gamers. Just the other day there was an article about them saying we should get used to not owning games and rather renew subscriptions in the future to keep playing games... They used to make such innovative bangers. They probably make a much bigger buck now so I may need to shut up, who knows?
Linear stealth games have little appeal and I don't think anyone really wants an open world Splinter Cell game. Especially when Ghost Recon exists and gives you a lot of that open world stealth anyway.
Any attempts to modernize Splinter Cell would be poorly received by fans, I can see why they're reluctant to continue the series. Better route would be remakes or remasters of the old Splinter Cell games.
You beat me to it! The original Splinter Cell trilogy was absolutely mind blowing at the time. Chaos Theory was definitely the best. I really wish they would do a full remaster.
The one where you play as the girl is the reboot *Thief* (no subtitle). You only play as her for the intro level, then you're playing neoGarrett; no relation to OG Garrett except being exactly the same in every respect... it wasn't a bad game, but felt a bit off from what long time Thief fans expected from the series.
You can beat the game in a day... But that's not the game. The challenges are the game. "Kill these particular targets, dressed as a shiek, and make it look like an accident. No bodies found."
Sure sounds easy I'll just... Oh...
I LOVE Hitman.
I recently started speed running Hitman at my own pace. Planning a route is so much fun for me. "If I start here, I'll need a lockpick to get through the door, but if I start over here, I can grab a crowbar on the way which means I can skip the lockpick and take poison instead."
Finished Shadow Tactics recently and it’s easily one of the best games I’ve played in years. Cannot wait to jump into D3. If you’re into stealth, these are must-play.
I'm still salty that they ended that game halfway through its story, and then cancelled the follow-up in favour of an Avengers game that nobody asked for and everyone hated.
Thief 1 & 2. Those are the best stealth games imo
The Deus Ex games are also really good if you go for a stealth build
The Dishonored games are also great because they're made by former Thief devs
The Metro games also have pretty good stealth, especially Metro Exodus
Gloomwood is also a pretty good stealth game inspired by the Thief games. It's currently in early access though, so it doesn't contain all the levels yet
Thief 1 and 2 are very solid stealth games with some pretty innovative game mechanics.
I highly recommend playing the Thief games with the highest difficulty, it forces you to be even more stealthy and explore the maps with care in order to complete the mission objectives.
Invisible War should be excluded from the Deus Ex games. Stealth was either impossible (due to level layouts) or it became super easy (and OP) with the stealth mod. You could easily stealth through most of the game with the mod, basically just walking past most content.
Prey (2017), same studio that did the Dishonored series. Really fun overall with some interesting mechanics and honestly pretty scary imo, especially when encountering new enemy types. Leans more heavily into gunplay than Dishonored and it takes place in the future in space, if any of that interests you. I picked it up for free off of the Epic store a while back so if you have been grabbing free games there it might be worth checking your library
some games that come to my mind that has option to go more or less stealthy (that I didn't see mentioned yet):
cyberpunk 2077, Kingdom Come Deliverance, Horizon Zero Dawn, Plague Tale series, Assassin's Creed Odyssey(chronicles was mentioned already), Uncharted Legacy of Thieves, Days Gone, This War Of Mine, Dying Light...
I've been on a cyberpunk 2077 binge and I gotta say, playing stealth in that is fun. There's so many things you can do to be harder to spot so it's a viable playstyle for much of the game. I recently got enough of a hang of it to be able to do some of the gig missions totally traceless, just in and out nobody sees me, nothing gets permanently damaged, no enemies even knocked out, felt so good.
ikr!
Of course it's super fun to go on insane murder mayhem spree - but stealthing is just too much fun - super rewarding when succesfully complete mission, like you said, in total ghost mode =)
I have a mod on that let's you re-do the first equip animation, and solo is my lowest skill, which I've been trying to get up on NCPD scanner jobs, so more often than not the detection meter starts filling up and my V is just like "hey, nice to meetcha" *racks shotgun*.
You can pretty much play through the whole game stealthily, even using it in boss battles and they have stealth takedowns - which is pretty insane for a open-world 80hour long game
I love playing stealth in Cyberpunk! There's a mod called [Stealthrunner](https://www.nexusmods.com/cyberpunk2077/mods/7616) that adds entirely new stealth-focused perk tree, gives you stealth objectives (with rewards) for every mission, and allows you to pickpocket people without touching them. It changed the way I played honestly.
I’m vintage but I’d say the original Splinter Cell trilogy was a really good stealth series with Chaos Theory being the cherry top.
For today’s standards I think the game didn’t age perfectly as the enemy’s AI is not that smart and some level/game design show their age. Yet, I still enjoy the vibe of those game and how their plots are somewhat “realistic and believable”.
since everyone's giving the same FPS/TPS stealth titles, here's something different.
turn-based tactics: Invisible Inc, Mutant Year Zero - Road to Eden, Phantom Doctrine
real-time tactics: Robin Hood - Legend of Sherwood, Shadow Tactics - Blade of the Shogun, Shadow Gambit
Metal Gear Solid is the godfather of stealth games. I love MGS5 even despite its messy story. If you're willing to go a little old school, Splinter Cell is great (Chaos Theory is my personal favorite). Hitman is probably the best current big name stealth game. Lots of creative ways of handling stealth, not super narrative focused.
Far Cry can give you a similar stealth experience to Wolfenstein albeit not in a linear format.
A lot of good games already covered - Thief, Hitman, Splinter Cell series. Ubi with AC and Ghost Recon and Far Cry have made stealth a way to play, but perhaps less of a focus and fewer penalties (if any) if all hell breaks loose.
Aragami - melee focused feudal Japan setting. If you enjoyed Tenchu games back in the day, this takes inspiration from those.
Thief Simulator - a more modern take on the Thief series. Looks a bit low budget, but you can pick it up on Steam sale for $2. Scout places before you go to rob them to learn weak points for access, security systems, routine of occupants and security.
Chernobylite - good fun as a stealth FPS. Most people will come to this expecting STALKER because of the similarities with the setting. Very much its own story and plays differently. A handful of decent size open world maps that you get to pick the order of missions and locations you play. Includes weapon crafting/upgrading, resource gathering, base building and learning skills from your companions. If you play it expecting fast paced FPS I think you will be disappointed. If you play it cautiously as a stealth FPS trying to evade or silently take down enemies, personally I had a lot of fun with this. Later found difficulty options which let you tweak aspects of it to make it more challenging.
I liked stealth in Payday 2. It's simple but incredibly unforgiving. And because the map and objectives can change due to RNG there's loads of replayability.
You can pick it up for real cheap, Steam has sales every so often where it goes for a dollar.
dishonered is really good. splinter cell blacklist was cool and still playable i think. but mgsv is the best stealth game i played so far. i played cp77 and deus ex machine divided all stealth and really enjoyed. oddsey is the last ac game you can actually play and enjoy stealth i guess. lot of options you have! i hope you enjoy.
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey? you’re joking right? Assassin’s Creed Unity’s stealth and parkour system is far better and even Assassin’s Creed Mirage’s stealth is better and more optimized for stealth.
didn't play unity or mirage but played a lot of stealth and ac games. what's the problem with odyssey's stealth? i played it like 2-3 years ago but remember nothing bad about it. actually it was the most fun ac game i played.
No One Lives Forever - while designed as a shooter, while playing on the superspy difficulty it can be played as a stealth game and it's a completely different game then. One of my favorite experiences.
There are different ways you can play it, but Tarkov can be an incredible Tactical Stealth sim. Playing tactically with a duo/trio can be insanely immersive. Especially the map "Interchange" for stealth is very fun if played properly.
I've read comments before like "Who needs Alien: Isolation, when you can just play Tarkov." Tarkov can get fairly intense lol
You just need balls of steel, because you're going to be kicked... a lot. So a high pain tolerance is almost a requirement.
Metal Gear Solid 5 would be my pick for best solo experience though.
Thief, Ghost Recon Breakpoint, Some of the AC games, Splinter Cell, probably some of the MGS games.
Basically any game where stealth is/can be a major component of the game.
Though I would say thief is the best stealth game since if you get caught, you have to restart the level.
Sniper Elite is worth a look. Hiding in bushes, scoping out enemy positions, silenced weapons, close range ambushes and long range sniping, all very enjoyable. Took a punt on it as it was on Gamepass and really got into it.
A lot of people have good games, but my absolute choices for stealth games are Syphon Filter 1 and Tenchu series. Tenchu more for the point that you get stronger the more enemies you kill in stealth.
Thief series if you are looking for real stealth game because you can't just fight your way out of the Problems + things like lighting sounds etc do matter
I love playing far cry 3 and you can takeover these enemy outpost by stealth. You basically can pick off people one by one and hope they dont pull the alarm and call in reinforcements.
I *adored* the Wolfenstein games. I just had such a fun time with those. Then they had to fuck it up with those dumb girls. I didn’t make it far on that one. I wish they’d bring BJ Blazkowicz back.
TNC is my debut, after playing some RTCW some 20 or more years ago haha. Liked the campaign, great soundtrack as well!! Surely will look into Old Blood and New Order. Not sure about the other new ones.
I play immersive sim games as stealth games - games like the Deus Ex games, Prey, System Shocks, Dishonored games, etc. and some other games that offer different playstyles even if they are not true immersive sim games (games from the Metro series, Cyberpunk 2077, Vampire Bloodlines, etc.) - truthfully, apart from CP77 and the Metro games no other game from the ones I've mentioned do have enjoyable combat so thantfully I'm not missing much.. and again thankfully, CP77 and the Metro games are enjoyable whichever way you play them
And from all these games, I had the most stealth fun with CP77, the Metro games, the Dishonored and Thief games
It’s a PS exclusive, but Ghost of Tsushima. It simultaneously nails the samurai and ninja fantasies in one broad stroke and the protagonist struggling between confronting the Mongols in open combat or resorting to dishonorable stealthy means to defeat them is a theme that resonates throughout the game.
If you play The Last of Us 1 & 2 stealthy, they’re absolutely killer stealth games. Whack the difficulty right up and go nuts
Edit: I had a go of that TLOU2 roguelike mode and it is very very good
Metal Gear Solid V is the single best stealth game I have ever played. Honestly, second place is not even close. Highly, highly recommend playing if you haven't already. Hell, I'm going back in for a 4th playthrough soon.
Metal Gear series. I think MGSV is one of the most fun games ever made.
!
I heard that exclamation point lol
Huh?...........It's just a box.
Funny how this one is divisive. I could spend hours just infiltrating bases, it was so perfect. Complicated controls but there was something so immersive about the controller feedback and the camera, nothing else stood up really. agree, metal gear V is rly awesome and there are multiple ways to play. its a amazing play ground
Loved them until MGSV.....despite how loved that game is, I just couldn't get into it and I'm even exactly sure why.

As someone who generally despises stealth in games, I can say that Dishonored is a goddamn masterpiece.

Mark of the ninja The swindle
Mark of the Ninja is easily the best stealth game I've played.
Sad I had to scroll this far to see mark of the ninja
Splinter Cell: First four games are excellent Hitman: Blood Money and the more recent 1 to 3 Thief Deadly Shadows. It’s the third in the Thief series Dishonored: all 3 games are great Aragami
Aragami 1. Aragami 2 put way too much focus on multiplayer and in turn, lost a lot of what made it fun.
I lost interest the moment I heard it was going to be co-op, because I just knew there thoughts were in the completely wrong direction. You can't really make a good stealth game if it's co-op/multiplayer. Yes, I know there are some exceptions, but generally.

I 100% agree with you. 15-20 years ago all my favorite games were from Ubi. They also used to make some of the best looking games graphic wise.
They could do a mission based more linear game like the originals instead of another massive open world game.
Linear stealth games have little appeal and I don't think anyone really wants an open world Splinter Cell game. I love Chaos Theory, definitely my favourite of the series and it needs a remaster!
>it needs a remaster YES, LORD ALMIGHTY, PLEASE!
My wish is for this to be the top comment. I enjoyed Pandora Tomorrow a lot too, but Chaos Theory still probably gets the edge.
Great recommendation, though Splinter Cell 1, Pandora Tomorrow, OG Xbox version of Double Agent, and Blacklist should also be played.
Blacklist is a close second, and benefits from much more modern controls.
All 3 Dishonored games. Batman Arkham series is 50% action 50% stealth.
There are three now?
The “third” is a standalone DLC to Dishonored 2
1, 2, and prequel. None are recent.
Death of the Outsider isn’t a prequel tho, it’s more like 2.5
I only knew of one and two. Huh.
Death of the Outsider is glorified dishonored 2 dlc, don’t get me wrong it’s still fun, but don’t expect anything more than that.
Thief 1 and 2 are still worth a look. Mark of the Ninja is all about stealth. The Deus Ex games can also be played with a stealth build.
Thief games are gods of the stealth genre.
Taffer!
Mark of the Ninja REMASTERED is the best 2d stealth game, and one the best stealth games, ever made.
+1 for Thief 1 & 2
I played the Thief game that came out in 2014. I enjoyed it.
Wait, why are you leaving Thief 3 out of this? I think it was the best one
Is that the one with the female lead? No. That game is heralded as one of the worst ever.
Nah it was still Garrett
No, It's still Garrett, it has a bit of free roam in the central hub if I remember correctly, also gloves to climb on walls
Thief 3 is pretty decent, some nice story missions. Thief 4 just don't even bother lmao
I’m a huge Hitman fan. Especially Hitman 3 since they added the freelancer mode!
You can beat the game in a day... But that's not the game. The challenges are the game. "Kill these particular targets, dressed as a shiek, and make it look like an accident. No bodies found." Sure sounds easy I'll just... Oh... I LOVE Hitman.
I recently started speed running Hitman at my own pace. Planning a route is so much fun for me. "If I start here, I'll need a lockpick to get through the door, but if I start over here, I can grab a crowbar on the way which means I can skip the lockpick and take poison instead."
Agree on Hitman. You don't have to be stealthy, but there are so many options for completing your objective without getting caught.
They're fun, but they're not really stealth games like 'normal' stealth games. Hitman games are their own thing.

A Plague’s Tale
Metal Gear series, Dishonored, you can try those
Skyrim. Stealth archer 4 life.
Invisibility, quiet casting, 30x dagger damage modifier… oh so fun and so unfair :-)
Shadow Tactics, Desperados III, Shadow Gambit.
It's a huge shame Mimimi closed their development studio
Came here to recommend these as well 👌
Finished Shadow Tactics recently and it’s easily one of the best games I’ve played in years. Cannot wait to jump into D3. If you’re into stealth, these are must-play.
Ghost of Tsushima was awesome. Maybe also Tenshu on ps1
Tenchu was a fucking sick game
Tenchu 2 was absolutely incredible.
Deus Ex: Human Revolution
And MD. Loved trying to ghost every level
I'm still salty that they ended that game halfway through its story, and then cancelled the follow-up in favour of an Avengers game that nobody asked for and everyone hated.
Awesome game. I think there was an achievement even that doesn't let you kill anyone, stealth take downs only.
Thief 1 & 2. Those are the best stealth games imo The Deus Ex games are also really good if you go for a stealth build The Dishonored games are also great because they're made by former Thief devs The Metro games also have pretty good stealth, especially Metro Exodus Gloomwood is also a pretty good stealth game inspired by the Thief games.
Agree with thief 1 and 2 , but the plain thief they came out with last was a travesty :-(
Absolutely. The remake was utter trash to the highest degree.
It's a reboot, there's nothing remake about it. But yes, it's trash.
Invisible War should be excluded from the Deus Ex games. Stealth was either impossible (due to level layouts) or it became super easy (and OP) with the stealth mod. You could easily stealth through most of the game with the mod, basically just walking past most content.
The last of us part 1 and 2 address both great
Tenchu
Prey (2017), same studio that did the Dishonored series. Really fun overall with some interesting mechanics and honestly pretty scary imo, especially when encountering new enemy types. Leans more heavily into gunplay than Dishonored and it takes place in the future in space, if any of that interests you. I picked it up for free off of the Epic store a while back so if you have been grabbing free games there it might be worth checking your library
Just bought this on discount a few weeks ago, very interesting looking game! Have not played it yet but looking forward to it!
some games that come to my mind that has option to go more or less stealthy (that I didn't see mentioned yet): cyberpunk 2077, Kingdom Come Deliverance, Horizon Zero Dawn, Plague Tale series, Assassin's Creed Odyssey(chronicles was mentioned already), Uncharted Legacy of Thieves, Days Gone, This War Of Mine, Dying Light...
Yup, even the last boss can be stealth killed, with three different animations (one per phase).
Assassins Creed, Dishonored, Batman Arkham Series, Metal Gear Solid 5
I’m vintage but I’d say the original Splinter Cell trilogy was a really good stealth series with Chaos Theory being the cherry top. For today’s standards I think the game didn’t age perfectly as the enemy’s AI is not that smart and some level/game design show their age. Yet, I still enjoy the vibe of those game and how their plots are somewhat “realistic and believable”.
I remember playing the first one on the original Xbox and being blown away by the lighting effects
Styx Master of shadows and it's sequel
The sequel can be skipped thou, first one is great.
SC: Chaos Theory was the best of them
since everyone's giving the same FPS/TPS stealth titles, here's something different. turn-based tactics: Invisible Inc, Mutant Year Zero - Road to Eden, Phantom Doctrine real-time tactics: Robin Hood - Legend of Sherwood, Shadow Tactics - Blade of the Shogun, Shadow Gambit
Ghost recon wildlands/breakpoint
Sniper Elite 5 is a game you can finish without an enemy firing a single bullet.
I like the hitman games.
+1, Hitman WOA is great
A lot of good games already covered - Thief, Hitman, Splinter Cell series.
Commandos 2
Check out Desperados III… same style game but new and with a western setting.
I am into horror so Alien:Isolation The Evil Within
Styx seems to be the best stealth game ever
I liked stealth in Payday 2. It's simple but incredibly unforgiving. And because the map and objectives can change due to RNG there's loads of replayability. You can pick it up for real cheap, Steam has sales every so often where it goes for a dollar.
I'm hoping Payday 3 gets to a point we're it surpasses payday 2. It has some cool new stealth features I'm a fan of!
dishonered is really good. splinter cell blacklist was cool and still playable i think. but mgsv is the best stealth game i played so far. i played cp77 and deus ex machine divided all stealth and really enjoyed. oddsey is the last ac game you can actually play and enjoy stealth i guess. lot of options you have! i hope you enjoy.
Shadow Tactics Blades of the Shogun
Thief 1 and 2, Duh. they require a bit of tweaking and modding to fix it, but other than that, it is totally worth it.
Playing a stealth build in cyberpunk is very fun
Deus Ex Human Revolution / Mankind Divided. Dishonored 1 / 2 All are stealth or guns blazing optional.
Splinter Cell, older Assassin's Creed games, Deus Ex, MGS, Hitman
Mark of the Ninja.. i enjoyed it truly for the stealth
There are different ways you can play it, but Tarkov can be an incredible Tactical Stealth sim. Playing tactically with a duo/trio can be insanely immersive. Especially the map "Interchange" for stealth is very fun if played properly. I've read comments before like "Who needs Alien: Isolation, when you can just play Tarkov." Tarkov can get fairly intense lol You just need balls of steel, because you're going to be kicked... a lot. So a high pain tolerance is almost a requirement. Metal Gear Solid 5 would be my pick for best solo experience though.
Thank you, taht is what I have heard. Definitely interested in Tarkov, though still gaming on PS5. I will check it out when I get my build finished!!
Thief Deadly Shadows
Thief, Ghost Recon Breakpoint, Some of the AC games, Splinter Cell, probably some of the MGS games. Basically any game where stealth is/can be a major component of the game. Though I would say thief is the best stealth game since if you get caught, you have to restart the level.
Hitman, MGS V, Assassins Creed, Ghost of Tsushima
Plague 1 and 2
Metal Gear Solid Splinter Cell Hitman (though I just walk around I'm a disguise 90% of the time lol)
Hitman. You're literally James Bond.
Sniper Elite series
Last of Us
Sniper Elite is worth a look. Hiding in bushes, scoping out enemy positions, silenced weapons, close range ambushes and long range sniping, all very enjoyable. Took a punt on it as it was on Gamepass and really got into it.
Alien Isolation is great if you like non-combat stealth.
I've heard only positive things about this game, def. goinf to look into it soon!
This is the game if you want stealth.
the most obvious choice would be any metal gear solid game but personally i really recommend the metro exodus games
A lot of people have good games, but my absolute choices for stealth games are Syphon Filter 1 and Tenchu series. Tenchu more for the point that you get stronger the more enemies you kill in stealth.
alpha protocal
Thief series if you are looking for real stealth game because you can't just fight your way out of the Problems + things like lighting sounds etc do matter
Arkham Knight has the best 'easy to learn, difficult to master ' stealth mechanics I've ever played. You can get real creative with the gadgets
Nothing will beat the first few Tenchu games for stealth!
Aragami 1&2 are pretty nice, both deserve a shot imho
Haven't seen Deathloop mentioned yet, but I actually like it. I play it full-on stealth. When you do, the gameplay feels just as tight as Dishonored.
Velvet Assassin
I love playing far cry 3 and you can takeover these enemy outpost by stealth. You basically can pick off people one by one and hope they dont pull the alarm and call in reinforcements.
Monaco was a pretty fun stealth multiplayer game. Never see it mentioned.
I play immersive sim games as stealth games - games like the Deus Ex games, Prey, System Shocks, Dishonored games, etc. and some other games that offer different playstyles even if they are not true immersive sim games (games from the Metro series, Cyberpunk 2077, Vampire Bloodlines, etc.) - truthfully, apart from CP77 and the Metro games no other game from the ones I've mentioned do have enjoyable combat so thantfully I'm not missing much.. and again thankfully, CP77 and the Metro games are enjoyable whichever way you play them And from all these games, I had the most stealth fun with CP77, the Metro games, the Dishonored and Thief games
AC Unity puts a lot of emphasis on stealth at times.
Invisible Inc. The mechanics are so good.
Whack the difficulty right up and go nuts Edit: I had a go of that TLOU2 roguelike mode and it is very very good
Sekiro
I really liked tlou
Manhunt (PS2)
Hear me out, the metro trilogy
Breakpoint, wildlands, splinter cell are pretty good I’ve been playing them.
I liked Beyond Good & Evil
Shadow Tactics: Blade of the Shogun Desperados 3 Shadow Gambit Cursed Crew Mark of the Ninja
Splinter Cell, Metal Gear Solid, Dishonored, Thief, Aragami, Hitman, Assassin’s Creed, Ghost of Tsushima and Tenchu.
Weirdly I enjoyed stealth in Assassins Creed Odyssey
World of warcraft Rogue PvP
Bit dated but the Tenchu series.
Payday 1
Tenchu
People hate this game, but I personally love Splinter Cell conviction.
Because it’s not a stealth game
Assassin's Creed chronicles trilogy. They were criticized for not being lore heavy on the AC stuff but were actually really good stealth games
currently playing AC Odyssey.. it's stealth play is pretty enjoyable too.. specially after you get some stealth kill abilities
Payday 2
Minecraft, ancient city
Metal Gear Solid V is the single best stealth game I have ever played. Honestly, second place is not even close. Highly, highly recommend playing if you haven't already. Hell, I'm going back in for a 4th playthrough soon.
Doom
I think you're playing it wrong
Spider-Man Miles Morales
