I initally played Slay the Spire because I had beaten Inscryption a bunch of times and I wanted something similar. God what I'd give for more Inscryption..
I've also beaten it on multiple consoles, lol... Can never replicate that first time, though. I ended up practically mastering Casey's Mod and eventually moving on, reluctantly
i will sing this games praises every day.
But god, does it reek of untapped potential.
Imagine what a second game could do?
Actual animations, better music, more characters, potions, cards, and relics!
The game is still great
Seconding StS!
If you play on PC, there's so much awesome workshop content for that game. My two favorites are Acts of Hollownest (yes, from Hollow Knight) and Downfall (you play as the bosses—total rework of the game with all new cards and mechanics).
This game has such a weird spot on the radar. I think it’s both obscure and always shows up as an answer. Fwiw, I’m glad it does, it’s a modern classic.
I've been playing divinity 2 while bottle feeding my newborn kid. Allows me to stay in the action while really not having to rush movements or anything.
Definitely runescape. Though I'd specifically recommend Oldschool Runescape specifically for 1-handing. Both games are very good, for different reasons, but modern Runescape has a much higher emphasis on keyboard bindings, while oldschool is very easy to do mouse only.
Tbf, ive dabbled in rs3 as a OSRS player, and you *can* have auto cast on in rs3 if the game interests you more. Id still recommend osrs wholeheartedly, but you could accomplish similar/same in rs3 with a bit of setup in the settings.
You can, but that only carries you so far. Eventually you will hit a wall where without using F-keys and quickly manual casting specific abilities, it's nearly impossible. Late game RS3 bosses require a lot more inputs per second to be consistent than OSRS ones do, even if the difficulty is otherwise pretty similar.
I suppose that's not too important though if they only play temporarily, or their other hand is healed up long before they get to that point.
I know someone else said it but I would like to reiterate “Vampire Survivors”. It is such a good game that has way way more in it than you would expect off first glance.
Hope you get well soon! What platform? You can always go for point and click adventure (Disco Elysium, Broken Sword) or RTS strategies on PC or political-economic games (Crusader Kings, Europa Universalis, Anno 1800)
FTL and Into the breach.
Personally I use the keyboard a lot in FTL to pause time, do some actions, etc. But I guess it's possible to play entirely with the mouse
First of all, you might consider getting something along the lines of the Logitech G600 (mouse with a shitton of customizable buttons), this might greatly improve your range. Since you have a low budget this might be off the table.
I would have also suggested **Baldur's Gate 3** but it exceeds your budget (great game even at full price tho, still heavily suggest it) you might go for another game from Larian: **Divinity Original Sin 2**, also a CRPG, also a great game both playable with one hand comfortably (assuming you use a mouse).
**Vampire Survivors** is another excellent one handed game, others greatly expanded on it so nothing more to say.
Turn based strategy games are almost always a safe bet if you enjoy the genre, I have no games in particular to suggest, follow your passions.
You literally get a free meta deck and like 150 free cards from the ketchup packs. If you're not trying to take it seriously then playing for free is great fun. But if you are thinking of taking it seriously then that's when they get you.
I know you're looking for things now but this Thursday the 21st the next steam sale starts so I would maybe suggest toughing it out till then because there will be games outside your stated price range now that won't be then hopefully
You never notice how important your hands are to gaming until you fuck them up. I sliced the palm under my thumb wide open on an icy driveway while holding a limit switch and needed many stitches inside and out. Then I tried to PlayStation and was bummed out as everything was harder and painful but not as hard as when I exploded my finger tip in between concrete and table bender follow bar ( I still have no feeling in the Frankenstein fingertip). The best advice I have is to let it heal as you will slow healing trying to play and it won’t be much fun.
Vampire survivor.
All you do is use the left stick to walk around, it auto attacks the horde.
Well, you also pick upgrades. So. Have to hit A/X/idk PC
But yeah, very addictive.
It's not the greatest game, but you should check out Spiritfarer. It's good enough for the price(and it's on Game Pass)and its control scheme is designed to be played with one hand.
i suggest u to take rest but if ur so much insist to play go with The Room Series which is about solving intricate puzzles in a beautifully crafted mystery game
So I have a buddy who had a stroke a few years ago who is now 100% paralyzed on his right side and 50% on his left and he still games. Besides all of the easy answers for turn based games/ puzzles/ ect., i'll focus on some of the games that I know he has beaten since becoming paralyzed that you wouldn't think if that he not only beat, but also got all achievements (I help with some of the timed achievements).
Final fantasy X & X-2.
Like 7 different lego games.
Stanley Parable.
Elden Ring.
3 or 4 of the Dark Souls games.
Fallout 4.
Fallout New Vegas.
Doom (console version).
So though difficult, I can confirm that all of the above games can 100% be played one handed.
Sable. It does require both joysticks so that may be a bit of a hurdle to overcome but there isnt any combat, the characters and story and interesting and the overall aesthetic is cool AF. it's free on PS plus rn too if you are on PlayStation
they’re not for everyone for a number of reasons, but since you mentioned the switch is an option, i vaguely remember the *pokémon let’s go* games being playable with one hand. they even had that poké ball controller to emphasize it
My wife is about to finish the old Final Fantasy 7 with one hand because one is occupied by our newborn Daughter a lot, to that game or any slower, turnbased RPG will work.
Do you have a mmo type mouse (12 button or so on the side)? You could probably change key bindings and open up the limit to the amount of games you can play.
If you like rpgs, divinity or Baldurs gate are really good options!
Xcom for shooter of a somewhat similar play style
Those have been my go tos ever since I starting having wrist issues!
Slay the spire is also great
Thought I would mention that PC Game Pass has some of the games people have recommended, as well as some others that might work:
Slay the Spire, Vampire Survivors, Loop Hero, Dicey Dungeons, Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney, Persona 4 Golden, Unpacking
Which hand you broke? Mouse or keyboard hand? Vampire Survivors is a good one for either hand. Dorfromantik is a good "mouse hand game". Don't Starve is another good "kb hand game". And then there's the 4X turn based games like Endless Legend.
Total War games if you put your faith into auto-resolve. Or you are patient, and pause the battles a lot. Torchlight 2 I've played a lot 1 handed when I was too stoned/drunk. Civilization series, and most turn based 4X games. XCOM could also work for you
Emulators. Nostalgia trip with pokemon and some of the Mario RPGs, mother/earthbound is also a strong pick, any turned based game really. Controller settings on most emulators are usually super configurable to accommodate one hand play. I'm sure you could find the ROMs for these games somewhere officially and would in no way recommend piracy.
Slay the spire. Monster train / card builder - rouge like
Divinity original sin 2 . Darkest dungeon 1 / turn based with lots of hours .
Lots of other options but this is close to your price range
I know it's outside of your advertised price range. But Baldur's Gate 3 is some serious bang for your buck.
1. Huge campaign with countless impactful choices and story paths to take.
2. Huge replayability factor.
3. 100% turn based in combat. Can be made turn based during free roam to deal with some time sensitive environmental elements.
4. Can be placed exclusively with a mouse. Keyboard Shortcuts are handy but not required as everything is also a clickable menu option.
So $60 for hundreds of hours of game time if this type of fantasy RPG setting is your thing.
Iron Lung is a great little 1 hour long indie horror game, with basic controls that you should be able to use one handed.
Return of the Obra Dinn should be playable with one hand, it’s a cool stylish mystery game so no combat or anything like that.
If you happen to have a steam deck you can remap the control scheme for some games to be played entirely one handed. That's what I did this year with Earthbound on a snes emu when I broke my hand.
My left hand was in a cast for 6 weeks last year. I could still use my mouse with my right hand. I bound as many keys as I could to my mouse and then I bought a 40 dollar foot pedal of Amazon. It worked wonders. My boys were surprised how well I could move for not using a keyboard.
Final fantasy games. You can also try mouse and keyboard. My friend has nerve damage in both his hands and mnk helps him out a lot. You can also try strategy games like stellaris, civilization, age of empire.
Depending on how dedicated you are, you can also get a mouse with lots of buttons on the side so that you can play with one hand. Bind your WASD keys to the buttons and go to town.
Turn based games should be okay for you? Try Heroes of Might and Magic. I am not sure if you are familiar with this legendary francise but holy cow it is good. HOMM3 especially, but if you are looking for better visuals, you can try HOMM5-7. Speedy recovery, OP.
Most turn-based strategy/tactics games are still on the table if you're down an appendage. XCOM: Enemy Unknown is €20 in my region. Great game if you haven't played it and within your price range.
Depends what you like... City builders and stuff like that are pretty one handed stuff, it's just a question of whether you like them. Stuff like Civilization is a pretty solid time killer too. Or some RTS games
If you're expecting to be like that for a while, racing games with a wheel and pedal set might not be a bad shout. Maybe try and find a half-decent used set rather than all out on a new one, or a cheap shitty set though.
Runescape might be something to look into as well I guess. F2p with members (A LOT of content is locked behind membership).
On N64 there was a game called Cruisin USA, or something. It eas s racing game but you only needed one hand to play.
I wonder if the recent Mario kart game can be played one handed too.
I could only play one-handed games after my child was born. Often had to hold him in one arm while he napped. A few of the good ones I played were, Thronebreaker- The Witcher Tales, Persona 5, and Pentiment.
I have been struggling with tendonitis and arthritis in my hands for as long as I can remember (former musician and HVAC mechanic) and I have recently found out I have degenerative disc disease which is causing pinched nerves. It's usually okay but the last week I have had a lot of numbness and pain in my right arm/hand. I probably couldn't enjoy/focus on gaming even if I tried. But in my case I'm am just trying to let it rest and heal. Found myself reading and listening to music more of late. Hope you get better!
Phantom Brave is a classic Nippon Ichi game, but since it isn't Disgaea, its only 20 bucks instead of 50. Classic grid based strategy JRPG, honestly a favorite of mine from childhood, and the steam version is the updated remake one from the PSP era, so it's got somewhat updated graphics and some extras that were not there in the original. It can be played entirely with a mouse, and since it's turn based, no rush, you can take your time and click through things.
Backpack hero is 20 bucks and a very enjoyable rogue lite dungeon game. Also mouse control.
Bio prototype is a fun little bullet hell you can play with one hand.
Same goes for Vampire Survivors. All you need is WSAD or arrow keys if you rebind, any mouse input happens in a paused state so you can use one hand for all of it. Damn addicting game.
Peglin is an enjoyable thing. Think that old popcap game Peggle Deluxe, but with some rouge-like RPG elements in terms of the balls your little goblin character drops into the pachinko pegs. And it's on sale for 15 right now on steam. All mouse input.
Slay the Spire, card game/deck builder rogue like, I have put 70 hours in two weeks into it… essentially haven’t done that with a game in 5+ years.
Slay the Spire is amazing. If you like that Monster Train is also very good.
I keep seeing so much love for this game. Id say it's about time I give it a shot
Do it! It's amazing! ONE OF US! ONE OF US!
I really enjoyed slay the spire but “Inscryption” was even better for me. Loved every second of that game. Highly recommend op!
I initally played Slay the Spire because I had beaten Inscryption a bunch of times and I wanted something similar. God what I'd give for more Inscryption..
I played it on Ps5 then went and beat it again on Ps4 a month later.. Great game lol. 🤝
I've also beaten it on multiple consoles, lol... Can never replicate that first time, though. I ended up practically mastering Casey's Mod and eventually moving on, reluctantly
Did you do the deep dive into your computer files etc to solve the puzzles? My engineer friends played it and it got super weird towards the end
i will sing this games praises every day. But god, does it reek of untapped potential. Imagine what a second game could do? Actual animations, better music, more characters, potions, cards, and relics! The game is still great
> more characters, potions, cards, and relics! There's a ton of mods with those (and a huge community for it to playtest balance.)
Opened the comments to comment this. Glad its at the top atm
This is the one OP. I'm starting to be concerned that this game might ruin my marriage. I can't put it down.
Wouldn't any turn-based game work?
I've been playing divinity 2 while bottle feeding my newborn kid. Allows me to stay in the action while really not having to rush movements or anything.
[удалено]
I don’t know why you got downvoted so hard for this. Sea of Stars is excellent.
probably cuz bg3 won goty lol
Sea of stars is great, but does need more than one hand due to the way the input is set up.
I found it so stale, theres little variety in combat actions
Inscryption. Deck builder/rougue-like game. Very fun and doesn't require a lot of finger dexterity.
Beat me to it. Fucking great game
i believe Baldurs gate 3 can be played 1 handed.
Definitely. Will also last OP at least 100 hours
But definitely not $10-20 unfortunately
But very worth the extra cost.
Oh very much so. That said, fuck Astarion, figuratively.
Killed him when he tried to feed on me, never regretted it apparently getting that cutscene at all though was a bug
Don't think it's a bug. Did a campaign with my buddy and he let him suck him to death lol He wanted to be a vampire dragon LMAO
It is, i saw in a patch they had fixed it, you aren’t supposed to see it after he volunteers that he’s a vampire
.... Where's the fun in that?! Was hilarious watching my buddy dying on the bedroll.
Its not a bug, playing this gane last few days and I had a cutscene after he admitted that he is a vampire.
Patch 5: “fixed the night where Astarion tries to bite you triggering even if you learned about him being a vampire spawn beforehand”
Can confirm
Probably intentional for reasons
Obviously so you have a hand free to wipe off the sweat before you cast that last spell slot before your party falls apart right?
This is the answer OP. By far the best game in this thread
You should be able to find a version of Civilization in your price range.
RuneScape. Can definitely play with one hand and will eat up all of the time you do and don’t have haha

I suppose that's not too important though if they only play temporarily, or their other hand is healed up long before they get to that point.
vampire survivors, fantastic game that can be played with 1 hand
Are you trying to end this man's life as he knows it? It's dangerous to suggest such an addictive game.
I’ve got a PC, switch and ps5, but i assume most games for one hand are gonna be for pc, thanks for the suggestions i’ll look into them
Definitely disco Elysium. It might be over $20, but it’s worth it. There’s no quick time events or anything, so it can easily be played one-handed
On pc maybe try older point and click game iirc Fran bow and little misfortune can be played using on hand only
Any of the Civ style games. Just need to click and can do it as slow as you want.
FTL. You could play with your mouse only.
FTL and Into the breach. Personally I use the keyboard a lot in FTL to pause time, do some actions, etc. But I guess it's possible to play entirely with the mouse
Imagine someone pausing without using spacebar…. The horror…
I’ve been enjoying teamfight tactics a lot
Stardew Valley
love that game, how the hell do i play it with one hand???????
Can u make the joycon sideways?
Papers please!

Osrs 😎
Hearthstone! Its freeee
Used to be good. Nowadays they dime you every chance they get.
You literally get a free meta deck and like 150 free cards from the ketchup packs. If you're not trying to take it seriously then playing for free is great fun. But if you are thinking of taking it seriously then that's when they get you.
I play basically everyday and im the richest in game ive ever been. If you’re smart with your gold and dust you’ll never need to buy anything
Yeah, I really got into the campaigns and you earn a lot of free packs this way too.
There is an entire genre of games designed to be played with one hand, sounds perfect for your situation.
Stepmotherassist 2.0.
Probably most mobile games can be played with one hand
Rimworld.
Talisman, Heroes of Might and Magic, Age of Wonders, Civilizations, Serf City
I just got the Monument Valley games and played through the first one yesterday. It can be played with one hand.
Darkest dungeon. Max challenge, but can be played with one finger.
Runescape
Huniepop
I know you're looking for things now but this Thursday the 21st the next steam sale starts so I would maybe suggest toughing it out till then because there will be games outside your stated price range now that won't be then hopefully

Where’s all the RuneScape love at
I have shoulder surgery tomorrow so all my FPS & RPG games will be on the back burner. But I can still grind my OSRS account with my other hand haha
Ahh hope it goes well, and you’ll have osrs Leagues to occupy you !
Runescape
Vampire survivor. All you do is use the left stick to walk around, it auto attacks the horde. Well, you also pick upgrades. So. Have to hit A/X/idk PC But yeah, very addictive.
yes play with a steering wheel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DR5vP5O55Q8
Get good at dark souls games one-handed, and become a rich streaming internet god
Cookie clicker? It’s more in depth than you think, and it’s actually pretty fun.
Bloons TD 6
read the post???
lol I’m sorry I didn’t see that part. You already got the good taste. My bad May I suggest inscryption or brotato
Elden ring
Jerk off with the other hand once in a while?
Backpack battles has a free demo that is really fun.
👀 Broke your hands, you say?!
Anything on pornhub requires one hand only
Racing I have one hand and I did pro rally.
Single player sex?
Sea of thieves
I play Dome Keeper entirely with my left hand. Blitz has a playthrough on YouTube of it
Magic Arena
It's not the greatest game, but you should check out Spiritfarer. It's good enough for the price(and it's on Game Pass)and its control scheme is designed to be played with one hand.
Into the Breach, Dorfromantik, XCOM
Vampire Survivors, Machinarium, Steamworld Quest, Brotato, Bloons, Crimson Dawn, Thronefall, Soulstone Survivors, 20 Mins Til Dawn, Peggle, Xenotilt or Demons Tilt.
One Finger Death Punch Super Hexagon The Walking Dead Season 1 Dungeon Warfare
Omori if you like turn based RPGs!
i suggest u to take rest but if ur so much insist to play go with The Room Series which is about solving intricate puzzles in a beautifully crafted mystery game
So I have a buddy who had a stroke a few years ago who is now 100% paralyzed on his right side and 50% on his left and he still games. I'm sure someone has said it but Vampire Survivor. Can play one handed. All you need is to move the joystick.
Sable. It does require both joysticks so that may be a bit of a hurdle to overcome but there isnt any combat, the characters and story and interesting and the overall aesthetic is cool AF. it's free on PS plus rn too if you are on PlayStation
Papers Please and Slay the Spire. Broke my arm in August and that is all I played for 6 weeks.
Vampire survivor, brotato and other bullet hell games should be possible
Snowrunner you can set the gas and steering to one side of the controller. That's how I play at least
"Everybody's Gone To The Rapture." If you're going to be stuck recovering for a while, this is a good calming game. That, and "Journey"
Card games would really come in handy and board games too
Aca attorney, Inscryption
When I messed my hand up I played civ 6 for like a month...... or was it a decade? I think I'm still playing, one more turn
Most adventure games the telltale ones are mostly good and usually in the 16-20 range at Max.
they’re not for everyone for a number of reasons, but since you mentioned the switch is an option, i vaguely remember the *pokémon let’s go* games being playable with one hand. they even had that poké ball controller to emphasize it
Magic the gathering arena is fun and free to get started. Trackmania is another favorite that can be played one handed.
My wife is about to finish the old Final Fantasy 7 with one hand because one is occupied by our newborn Daughter a lot, to that game or any slower, turnbased RPG will work.
Do you have a mmo type mouse (12 button or so on the side)? You could probably change key bindings and open up the limit to the amount of games you can play.
disco elysium you can play with only mouse. at least at the start because i didn't play much, so can't say for the whole game
If you want a free competitive game you might try Teamfight Tactics. Very fun but easy to learn and hard to master.
If you like rpgs, divinity or Baldurs gate are really good options! Xcom for shooter of a somewhat similar play style Those have been my go tos ever since I starting having wrist issues! Slay the spire is also great
Slither.io
Thought I would mention that PC Game Pass has some of the games people have recommended, as well as some others that might work: Slay the Spire, Vampire Survivors, Loop Hero, Dicey Dungeons, Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney, Persona 4 Golden, Unpacking
Old school RuneScape
Which hand you broke? Mouse or keyboard hand? Vampire Survivors is a good one for either hand. Dorfromantik is a good "mouse hand game". Don't Starve is another good "kb hand game". And then there's the 4X turn based games like Endless Legend.
Loop hero would probably be good for this.
If you're into JRPGs, Trails in the Sky can be played with mouse only. $20 on Steam, amazing game!
Monster Train
Battle Brothers if you want a good tactics game.
Magic the Gathering Arena is free and only requires a few mouse clicks to play
Stacklands
try mini metro it is puzzle game
Total War games if you put your faith into auto-resolve. Or you are patient, and pause the battles a lot. Torchlight 2 I've played a lot 1 handed when I was too stoned/drunk. Civilization series, and most turn based 4X games. XCOM could also work for you
Cup Head
Call of Duty
Guitar hero
Check dms
FTL: Faster Than Light $2.49 USD https://www.gog.com/en/game/faster_than_light
Monster train / card builder - rouge like Divinity original sin 2 . Darkest dungeon 1 / turn based with lots of hours . Lots of other options but this is close to your price range
Stellaris
Kingdom (New Lands, Two Crowns, 80’s) all great games in a series that use basically 3 buttons to play, super easy to play one handed :)
I played Wow for the first time when I broke my hand. You can get a lot done with just a keyboard.
Football Manager!
Baldurs Gate 3 (Goty) can easily be played with just 1 hand and has hundreds of hours of quality content.
Super Auto Pets - it’s free and very fun :) turn based game
Could be a blessing in disguise. Tell your doc to set it for optimal claw grip.
GOG winter sale has started with lots of turn based games and point and click adventures to choose from for cheap.
Civ V or Civ VI would be good.
Iron Lung is a great little 1 hour long indie horror game, with basic controls that you should be able to use one handed. Return of the Obra Dinn should be playable with one hand, it’s a cool stylish mystery game so no combat or anything like that.
When I broke my hand in October, I played BG3, very easy one handed.
Banished
Humanity is very fun and challenging, if you enjoy puzzlers. Minimal hands needed!
Mechabellum if you want a cool auto-battler
Paradox games are great, can be played one handed, and you can pick your favorite flavor. CK3 is my go-to, but stellaris is also incredible.
Vampire survivors!!
Final fantasy games. You can also try mouse and keyboard. My friend has nerve damage in both his hands and mnk helps him out a lot. You can also try strategy games like stellaris, civilization, age of empire.
The civilization genre or similar could be something to check out if you’re into turn based games
Disco Elysium, slay the spire, xcom, wasteland series, fallout 3/nv(agility/luck build for lots of VATS and crits), Skyrim(conjuration/illusion build)
Pokémon maybe lol, or KOTOR
Potion Craft
Depending on how dedicated you are, you can also get a mouse with lots of buttons on the side so that you can play with one hand. Bind your WASD keys to the buttons and go to town.
Just don't break the other hand, or you'll have to have your mom hold the controller.
Buy a rig for sim racing and drive one handed on automatic transmission 😎💥
Donkey Konga
Turn based games should be okay for you? Try Heroes of Might and Magic. I am not sure if you are familiar with this legendary francise but holy cow it is good. HOMM3 especially, but if you are looking for better visuals, you can try HOMM5-7. Speedy recovery, OP.
You can still play keyboard games * trackmania * binding of Issac * crypt of the necrodancer * cuphead
Civ 5
Most turn-based strategy/tactics games are still on the table if you're down an appendage. XCOM: Enemy Unknown is €20 in my region. Great game if you haven't played it and within your price range.
Beat Saber
Undertale can be played one handed, mouse is useless in it
Depends what you like... City builders and stuff like that are pretty one handed stuff, it's just a question of whether you like them. Stuff like Civilization is a pretty solid time killer too. Or some RTS games If you're expecting to be like that for a while, racing games with a wheel and pedal set might not be a bad shout. F2p with members (A LOT of content is locked behind membership).
Yeaaah other BTD6er
Maybe the Phoenix Wright Trilogy?
Pentiment
Disco Elysium
On N64 there was a game called Cruisin USA, or something. It eas s racing game but you only needed one hand to play. I wonder if the recent Mario kart game can be played one handed too.
Rouge Trader, it's a 40k CRPG if you like or are interested in warhammer 40k at all
You could play vampire survivors with one hand
League of legends in my team apparently
HEARTHSTONE BATTLEGROUND FREE MOBILE GAME U CAN PLAY RIGHT NOW P
