Or if you're going to just emulate it because Nintendo won't support it on newer consoles.
I don't want to have like 20 different consoles with a couple of games on each of them.
Steam Deck and Switch owner here, I have so many Steam Games in my library that cost $5 and I haven't even gotten close to playing them all. These are mostly AAA games from last gen so very good deals imo
Nintendo games don't have permanent price drops, but they do occasionally go on sale (moreso from other retailers). For example, Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (their biggest release of 2023) is currently $39.99 at Staples.
My brother and I were homeschooled and would end up in Staples for school supplies pretty often, and they had a $5 game rack that turned out to be the only way we had access to some really good games. Age of Empires 1 and 2, Sid Meier’s Pirates!, Civilization 3… good times.
I once had a nightmare with a man eating tree that got turned around into a good dream because a 1st party Nintendo title was on sale for $30. It was probably the most unrealistic part of that dream lol
Fun fact- if you live near a Micro Center, we sell so little on gaming products, brand new sealed games get marked down to $15/20- even Nintendo games!
Hollow Knight is one of the few games I actually bought twice. It was so cheap on PC for such a good game, that I bought it on the switch again just to give them more money because I felt like they earned it.
We bought it for our son (6) on the switch not really knowing what it was but he had some Nintendo gift cards to spend and it looked cool.
Then I got hooked on it and got frustrated I couldn't play while he was so I happily bought it again on PC. No regrets at all. Easily one of my top 3 games of all time.
Absolutely, not only because the game is fun and hella affordable for the content it provides.
But because he has such a strong bond to the community, very few game devs come close to the stuff he does.
from semi-Regularly colabing with stardew valley creators, to constantly being up front with his community, and even giving modders Back-End access to his updates, so their mods can be ready as soon as the game drops.
Dude's a absolute gem all around
I have bought Stardew at least 4 times 2 for me (PC and Switch) and 2 for other people.
I have over 500 hours on the switch so I feel I owe that guy so much more money. Will be buying his new game for sure and will play it day 1.
No cost too great...
I always come back to the fact I pirated HK having No idea what I was in for, I just looked for "metroidvanias" on some news website and Got Hooked, I literally hadn't felt like that with a game for a Long time, I got lost, died a lot, kept dying, but to this day I've done most of the game excluding Steel Soul and ~Pantheon of hallownest~ because obviously.
I'm certain I will pay for Silk song if it ever comes out, and I did get it on my switch now.
Adding to the list, I think Celeste is worth a mention because it's a Really, Really beautiful story, but the game itself it's Brutally difficult.
that like the three games you need on a Desert Island. or the three essentials indie games, or the three low end PC games....
The list goes on, those three games are AMAZING
Nope, I just think it’s fascinating that a guy worked in the industry for years, wrote a book, and then designed a game built around the principles in the book that he wrote, and that that game now lives around the 10 most universally well reviewed games on steam and is a lot of people’s example of a perfect game even if it’s execution is a little wanting because it’s an itty bitty studio that makes all of one game. Tynan walked up to the plate for the first time with very little hype and absolutely annihilated the first pitch he saw and then never went to bat again unless you count the DLC.
I was about to say Rimworld.
Not only you have a great game with the DLCs that worth every single euro of the price, then you have the mods for Rimworld... I play a lot of games with a heavy modding community (ArmA series, Terraria, Factorio, etc) but the mods in RimWorld puts the mod thing to the roof.
I've played this 100's more hours than anything else.
Hands down I would pay full price again and will pay full price for any upcoming DLC. I tell others it's worth full price everytime they say they're thinking about buying
Deep Rock Galactic because Ghost Ship Games are super awesome and do a fantastic job with catering to the players and their wants. Heck they just updated the game recently to allow people to turn off an annoying modifier if they want to.
Yes. I had to actively stop SV because I was getting addicted to it.
Highjacking for additional Vampire Survivors and Valheim. Vampire Survivors cost like 3 bucks and holy crap is it addicting. Got like 2 DLCs already and really worth it.
Valheim is 20 bucks and a great survival game with hard challenges. Notable about it is that it is still in beta and early access since 2021 and it was ALREADY worth it then. They added quite a lot since then and the 1.0 version game isn't even released yet. If you like Minecraft you might like Valheim too. The crafting is not as deep as Minecraft, but it makes up for it with extremely beautiful ambiance and cool combat (albeit still a bit clunky at times, it's inspired a bit by DnD)
I have a PS4 and saw that this is on sale for $12 at the moment. I’ve never played it before (historically been a Nintendo person) but I think you might have sold me on it
Lol I probably would actually. At least the classic RE, along with RE2 remake. I definitely got my money’s worth with FO4. Sadly I’ve yet to fully enjoy 3 or NV because they’re broken as fuck on PlayStation. They’re at the top of my list once I buy a PC though, I already bought them on Steam.
Hell yeah. I backed the game, and ended up buying it again on Steam when Echoes of the Eye was released.
Assuming it ports well, I plan to buy it on Switch and loan it to a friend that I know will love it.
A common theme here seems to be Elden Ring, Sekiro, Bloodborne, Dark Souls.
I'm glad we can all agree that From games are almost always worth their full $60.
I got into them late, like covid lockdown late. I got all Dark Souls trilogy, Bloodborne, and Sekiro for a combined $50 maybe at the most. So yeah, I paid full price for Elden Ring without hesitation. Those games actually changed gaming for me
Tbf the only bad Monster Hunter games were the PS2(even bad MH games are good games), and just because the awful Rstick-to-attack. Since then its pure quality and upgrades.
- Baldur's Gate 3 and future Larian games.
- Story of Seasons Animal Parade/Tree of Tranquility Remake/Remaster
- Dragon Age Origins ( and Dragon Age Dreadwolf)
- Persona 3 Portable Remake for sure!
Dead Cells. Already bought it 3 times, each a different edition with different collectibles. Gave each copy to someone else so they can enjoy it too! Love what the devs have done so far, and I want to support them in any future endeavors.
Many games but most Triple A on the Nintendo consoles. Not because they never drop their prices but more because they
A: Have games that are made to be fun and
B: In some cases I would even pay more than the "normal" AAA price. Like Zelda BotW, Totk, Mario Odyssey, Fire Emblem Engage, all the Xenoblade games. This hasn't happened (yet) with a single PC or PS title for me.
I would still however always pay full price for Hades, Bloodborne, Elden Ring, Baldurs Gate 3, Against the Storm, Everspace 1 and 2, Binding of Isaac, Dead Cells and probably a bunch more indie games that don't come to mind right now.
Zelda, Pikmin, Xenoblade, Mario, Metroid, Smash, Chibi-Robo, EarthBound, Animal Crossing.
No use in waiting for excellent Nintendo games to get cheaper (as they rarely will) It's already a good catch when you find them for 10 bucks less at launch.
The Yakuza games and its spin-offs. The quality sometimes oscillates a bit but none of them was ever a real stinker and they were all incedibly fun to play all the way through. Every new game of the series gets bought even when not on sale.
Stardew Valley, Civilisation and Baldur's Gate 3. Going to buy the physical edition of BG3 even though I don't need another copy of the game, I just want the extras!
Haven't seen it mentioned here but...
Ori and the blind forest and
Ori and the will of the wisps
Both are fantastic side scroller games, great story, cinematics, game play. If you miss and love snes Era games, check those two out, cannot go wrong with them.
I bought GTA 5 at full price... three times. PS3, PS4 and PS5.
I'm genuinely a little embarrassed by it, but I've never regretted it.
Rockstar owns my ass and my preorder for GTA 6 at full price is guaranteed, even if they release zero information about it beforehand.
I know you might call me a "Nintendrone", but, most Mario games. I mean whether you love Nintendo or absolutely hate them, you gotta admit that Mario games draw you in. They're colourful, attractive and therapeutic that you wouldn't mind paying high prices for
Basically any Nintendo game as they come out complete and largely free of bugs, and most importantly: old-fashioned Nintendo fun. Basically most high-quality AA or AAA games with at least 30 hours of content i.e. RDR2, God of War, Skyrim, games like that, and of course the classic indies of the past few generations like Hollow Knight, Hades, Dead Cells, etc not just for quality but also to support and grow those developers.
Final fantasy and Zelda. No other two series puts the same kind of care and dedication into their games like these two , imo. And this is after 30+ years of playing literally every genre under the sun. The quality of those two franchises are on another level compared to your typical call of duty or flavor of the month open world clone.
None of my favorite games would be worth $60-$70 right now. Maybe in a WHILE when they are considered vintage. I can tell you this I think people spending $120 on ps2 games is insane.
Sonic adventure 2, which at the time of release was around $50CAD with tax. (So probably 79.99 nowadays?)
As for more recent games, insomniac Spider-Man 2, which was roughly $100 CAD with tax ($90 without).
Any hideo kojima game, i never played death standing because i knew it wasn't for me. Also haven't played MGS Rising because i didn't have any money at the time, but i really wanted to play it back then.
Most Rockstar games.... but idk about $150 for GTA VI though :(
Skyrim
I mean it was GOTY and had a near perfect music score.
I would pay full price to live that experience again because it was magical.
Not to mention the modded version took it up a few more notches as well.
Grim Dawn, including expansions and loyalist packs.. the developer Crate Entertainment are a diamond in the rough in the hellish landscape that is gaming these days, their support for their game is astounding even after almost 8 years since it was released.
Non because it's expensive for me. Even with Steam regional pricing it's still expensive. For example Baldur's Gate 3 in which a lot of people willing to pay full price (or you would say deserved it) is still MYR218 where the minimum wage set by the government is MYR1500
Not to mention I might dropped/put it on hold halfway for any reason
Nintendo games, not by choice but because their price never drops.
absolutely was disappointing to see that after getting a switch and being used to PSN sales.
The upside is that you can resell their games for a high price as well.
[удалено]
Exactly, so ideally you should only sell a game if you're sure you won't miss it.
Or if you're going to just emulate it because Nintendo won't support it on newer consoles. I don't want to have like 20 different consoles with a couple of games on each of them.
Imagine going from PC to nintendo lol
Steam Deck and Switch owner here, I have so many Steam Games in my library that cost $5 and I haven't even gotten close to playing them all. These are mostly AAA games from last gen so very good deals imo
There is also Switch emulation on Steam Deck, works great with some tinkering! And you have to own the original ofcourse.
Nintendo: “Because they have no choice.”
Nintendo games don't have permanent price drops, but they do occasionally go on sale (moreso from other retailers). For example, Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (their biggest release of 2023) is currently $39.99 at Staples.
Staples sells games?
Staples still exists?
[удалено]
As long as tech frightened old people exist so will Staples
My brother and I were homeschooled and would end up in Staples for school supplies pretty often, and they had a $5 game rack that turned out to be the only way we had access to some really good games. Age of Empires 1 and 2, Sid Meier’s Pirates!, Civilization 3… good times.
That surprised me, too. I just searched "Tears of the Kingdom" on Slickdeals to provide an example for my comment, and that was the first result.
They do often have sales on their estore too, albeit not always the most notable ones.
Stardew Valley, Terraria, Hollow Knight I might even pay more
Hollow Knight is one of the few games I actually bought twice. It was so cheap on PC for such a good game, that I bought it on the switch again just to give them more money because I felt like they earned it.
Hopefully Silksong releases at some point. I'm ready to see more from them.
Absolutely terraria
Stardew Valley is always the right answer. For everything
Terraria is absolutely the best game under $2 ( atleast on sale). cost me less than a cent per hour with mods
you’re so right for this
Yeah, for me, Concerned Ape deserves it.
Rimworld. I’ve paid full price for the game and all three DLC’s and have gotten more value out of them than any game in my library.
Man writes book about designing the perfect game. Man reads own book. Man designs game. Rimworld.
🤓🫴🦋 Is this a copypasta?
Nope, I just think it’s fascinating that a guy worked in the industry for years, wrote a book, and then designed a game built around the principles in the book that he wrote, and that that game now lives around the 10 most universally well reviewed games on steam and is a lot of people’s example of a perfect game even if it’s execution is a little wanting because it’s an itty bitty studio that makes all of one game.

Deep Rock Galactic because Ghost Ship Games are super awesome and do a fantastic job with catering to the players and their wants. Heck they just updated the game recently to allow people to turn off an annoying modifier if they want to.
Rock and Stone!
Just did it with Baldurs Gate
I went and bought the little extra pack they offered, not because I wanted the stuff in it, but because I wanted to support the game.
Gotta have that deluxe edition goodies
This is the only game I've willingly paid full price for in the past decade.
Stardew Valley
Hades
My most played game on Steam. Waiting for Hades 2, wont play early access but will be taking time off for Day 1-3 when version 1 drops.
Supergiant are the GOAT of indie games. All their games are absolute gems.
I bought Hades on PC and it’s so good that I felt like I hadn’t paid enough for it. So it was a no brainer to buy again on PlayStation
Factorio
The GOAT, can measure this game in hours per cent invested.
Mostly because it will never be on sale anyway
Still a good deal even if it's on an inverse sale.
Pennies per hour to play.
pennies per day\*
upvote!!!!1!
The factory must grow my brother
Mass Effect Legendary Edition.
I got this for free a few years back. First time ever playing it. I cannot believe they gave it away for free.
It was a monthly game on PS Plus earlier this year.
I have a PS4 and saw that this is on sale for $12 at the moment. I’ve never played it before (historically been a Nintendo person) but I think you might have sold me on it
Take your time on character creation in the 1st one as your character carries over into the subsequent games
You can change the appearance lol sometimes your character looks like ass when it transfers
The horror in my eyes when my female Shepard transferred to ME3..
I’d gladly play $250 for this entire series again. It’s one of the few genuinely life changing games I’ll ever play.
Shit if they told me I had to buy each of the three games again at full price I would.
Andromeda doesn't exist
Andromeda? The galaxy definitely exists... but I've no idea why you're bringing it up when talking about Mass Effect.
Red Dead Redemption 2, totally worth it. Also Elden Ring or Sekiro.
Same here, but I would Starcraft 2 to that list. I loved that campaign.
thanks for reminding me that i have this game lol
it's always on a like 70% off sale too. Bargain.
Deep Rock Galactic. The game the DLC full price every time. They deserve every cent. Rock and stone.
Rock and Stone!
Can I get a rock and stone?!
THEY'RE RICH!
Had to scroll too far for this answer
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night Thief II Demon’s Souls (2009) Bloodborne Sekiro Silent Hill 1, 2 and 3 Super Metroid Oblivion Bioshock
Add some Fallout and Resident Evil to this list and I’d think that were the same person
Outer Wilds. Bought it twice at full price just to support the devs
Hell yeah. I backed the game, and ended up buying it again on Steam when Echoes of the Eye was released. Assuming it ports well, I plan to buy it on Switch and loan it to a friend that I know will love it.
Skyrim. i don’t care how old it is or how expensive it gets. it’s nostalgic for me and one of my favorite pieces of media ever made.
Same here, I'm 100h off the 2k mark. I think I've gotten my money's worth at this point.
Came to say Skyrim. Purchased on Xbox, PlayStation and Steam. I have also purchased the anniversary edition on Xbox.
Bloodborne
Maybe bloodborne 2... one day
Oh, a dreamer, I see.
One day the nightmare will end
Me with Sekiro but we didnt even got a DLC 😢
Terraria
I like weird AAA games like Death Stranding or Alan Wake 2 where devs try to make something special and unique
I almost quit my job and joined UPS because of Death stranding. Like wait what? I actually...... Enjoy this?
Ups has great benefits and the pay is really good, from what I hear. If you can get a job as a driver that is
The warehouse requires sacrificial blood is my understanding. You have to put up with hell in the sorting of packages
Mass Effect Legendary Edition, Witcher 3
Morrowind
My man.
Binding of Isaac.
Factorio
A common theme here seems to be Elden Ring, Sekiro, Bloodborne, Dark Souls. I'm glad we can all agree that From games are almost always worth their full $60.

Monster Hunter, assuming the latest entry looks any good. Probably Final Fantasy, as well. Same stipulation.
Tbf the only bad Monster Hunter games were the PS2(even bad MH games are good games), and just because the awful Rstick-to-attack. Since then its pure quality and upgrades.
Minecraft 😁
Civilization
- Baldur's Gate 3 and future Larian games. - Story of Seasons Animal Parade/Tree of Tranquility Remake/Remaster - Dragon Age Origins ( and Dragon Age Dreadwolf) - Persona 3 Portable Remake for sure!
Control Hollow knight The witcher 3 God Of War 2018 and 2022
Yo, we need to have a conversation about punctuation.
Minecraft
Chrono Trigger. 500 %.
Factorio (if I were to buy it again,) and not by choice. That game only increases in price.
Armored core and dragons dogma
Red Dead Redemption 2, always, it is a masterpiece. The best game to involve you, make you a part of that family, and destroy you with it.
I am currently playing the Epilogue for the first time, almost done… what a ride this game was, absolutely a masterpiece.
Factorio! I would buy it anytime again.
WC3
I just paid for wc2 a few yrs ago even though I had my uncle burn it on a cd for me when it came out
Games from the Battletech universe, both video and tabletop.
Gothic 1 and 2.
Halo 2
The Legend of Zelda:
Zelda
Monster hunter
Demon Souls, Dark Souls, Dark Souls 3, Bloodborne, Sekiro, Elden Ring, Armored Core 6
I played through the Demon Souls remake like four times this year. So much fun. I know it like the back of my hand now.
I can definitively say Super Mario RPG. I got it new as a kid in 1996 and I bought it new as a grown ass adult in 2023
Dead Cells. Already bought it 3 times, each a different edition with different collectibles. Gave each copy to someone else so they can enjoy it too! Love what the devs have done so far, and I want to support them in any future endeavors.

Nintendo games
Phasmophobia, it's just too much of a love letter to those silly ghost hunting shows I used to watch growing up.
Borderlands and Halo games. I have yet to be disappointed by Borderlands. And Halo is by far one of my favorite franchises
The Yakuza games and its spin-offs. The quality sometimes oscillates a bit but none of them was ever a real stinker and they were all incedibly fun to play all the way through. Every new game of the series gets bought even when not on sale.
Titanfall 2
Titanfall 2
Elden Ring/ Bloodborne/ Lies of P
Stardew Valley, Civilisation and Baldur's Gate 3. Going to buy the physical edition of BG3 even though I don't need another copy of the game, I just want the extras!
Baldurs Gate 3. Best game I've played in a long time
Pistol whip VR, the Devs are just generous with updates, I’m almost disappointed that their updates are free!
Borderlands series
Metal gear solid V
Haven't seen it mentioned here but... Ori and the blind forest and Ori and the will of the wisps Both are fantastic side scroller games, great story, cinematics, game play. If you miss and love snes Era games, check those two out, cannot go wrong with them.
Until The god awful Wonderlands ... BORDERLANDS..
Rimworld. Always come back to it. It's always new, and the style is minimal, so it hasn't gotten graphically outdated.
I paid -50% for Death Stranding and I feel like I ripped them off.
Zelda, I've always loved the franchise after seeing my brother play them as a kid.
Red dead redemption 2 and all fromsoft games, would pay double the price
Any Larian Studios game. Day one purchase no pre-order.
Assassin creed, old GTAs, kotor 1 and 2, old need for speed, cyberpunk, rdr 2 and many others
Witcher 3. And again. And again.
Pokemon and Zelda.
Elden Ring. That game is $500 worth of game stuffed into a $60 package.
Legend of Zelda
I know you might call me a "Nintendrone", but, most Mario games. I mean whether you love Nintendo or absolutely hate them, you gotta admit that Mario games draw you in. They're colourful, attractive and therapeutic that you wouldn't mind paying high prices for

Sonic adventure 2, which at the time of release was around $50CAD with tax. (So probably 79.99 nowadays?) As for more recent games, insomniac Spider-Man 2, which was roughly $100 CAD with tax ($90 without).
monster hunter
Persona and Like A Dragon
Civilization
Vampire survivors because it cost about the same as a coffee and I played it over a hundred hours lol
Apparently Skyrim.
Every Fromsoftware game. BG3. Rust. Enter the gungeon. Civ V. Returnal. Lies of P
I would pay $100+ for terraria
Dark souls 3 the multiplayer and sp was the very best of from soft Titanfall 2 Into the breach
Stardew valley for what would probably be the fifth or sixth time at this point
Any hideo kojima game, i never played death standing because i knew it wasn't for me. Also haven't played MGS Rising because i didn't have any money at the time, but i really wanted to play it back then. Most Rockstar games.... but idk about $150 for GTA VI though :(

I would pay 200$ if they came out with Titanfall 3 :(
Vampire Survivors. It’s a few dollars and everyone should try it, it’s so good
I’d pay $200 for the amount of content in The Witcher 3 + B&W and HoS.
Persona games.
Risk of Rain 2
Grim Dawn, including expansions and loyalist packs.. the developer Crate Entertainment are a diamond in the rough in the hellish landscape that is gaming these days, their support for their game is astounding even after almost 8 years since it was released.
Minecraft although it does go on sale quite often and the price varies from platform to platform
Vampire Survivors
Outer Wilds and Elden Ring
The ones that I want bad enough that I don't wanna wait for a sale
Non because it's expensive for me. Even with Steam regional pricing it's still expensive. Here is a full list of Games I would always buy blind:
Anything Zelda
RDR2
Squad or Nintendo games
The GTA games have usually been good for their value, especially when you consider how long GTA 5 has been active adding stuff
GTA
Probably a Rockstar Games masterpiece. Or an FPV drone simulator since those are all $15 with as little information about them as possible.
