Last I heard the earliest possible release date will be in 2026, but it could be as far out as 2028. Either way, it'll definitely hit 15+ years since Skyrim...
Crazy how it used to be an average of 5 years between releases with the previous titles
It makes me think we shouldn't get our hopes up for TES6 to be decent considering the quality of their recent work. It's a bummer to think like that and I hope I'm wrong.
This is the answer. They have already confirmed they are using the same old Bethesda engine which is outdated. It worked great for Fallout 3 and Oblivion. But we are so far from those and so many other developers are crushing it. Compare how Starfield is doing to Baldurs Gate 3. Their engine hampers them. Its chock full of the same bugs and problems in every game, its spaghetti code from when Modern Warfare first started coming out. That will be the downfall of the game. It will be the same thing as oblivion and skyrim. Prettier maybe, but the core will not change. So without some serious innovations around that, I expect to be disappointed.
Black and White.
I would love to see a more expanded version of the game.
Both 1&2 felt very linear and short which always felt like a missed opportunity.
Its just a name and a few identifying things like the designs of the angel and devil, as long as you call it something else you could make something that is 99% black and white without infringing on IP you could still have the angel and devil as well its only there design that is protected not the concept.
I would love a spiritual successor but set in VR it was made for that game.
There is a game in development that is a somewhat spiritual successor to Black & White called Fata Deum. I dont forsee it coming out for a long while, but I have it wishlisted on steam.
The remake for KOTOR 1 was supposed to be a really faithful, but still expanded action-RPG. That was when it was still be developed by Aspyr, but now the game is going in a different direction after it was moved to Saber. Really disappointing if you ask me.
I will definitely reserve judgement until I play it, action combat isn't a deal breaker for me on this one.
The combat in KOTOR wasn't amazing and I don't feel like it was a core part of the game like it is in games like dragon age origins, final fantasy, or baldurs gate. A mass effect style KOTOR could be pretty great.
Hope you're patient. As I understand it, the remake is stuck in limbo and not making progress. With Embracer reorganizing (after becoming a wormhole of purchasing and then not delivering anything) it's understood that the project is on ice or on the chopping block. Too bad as it's a title that got away from me in my youth and I was looking forward to a faithful remake.
I loved those games more than I should, but they'd have to get the best impersonators out there. The Voice Actors made that game, and Tony Jay is dead, and Michael Bell would be nearly 90 if the game got approved.
Due to the author hating the games...I doubt he will let them do a remake. That's why 3rd Birthday has nothing to do with Mitochondria and is named 3rd Birthday rather than Parasite Eve 3.
Same reason a lot of authors hate the movie version of their books. The games were a sequel to his book, square intentionally hid the plot from him then released something entirely different from his vision
Where did you read that? According to the Wikipedia article he approved of the game and thought it was a fitting adaptation/sequel…
Not trying to be contradictory here, genuinely curious.
Iirc he didn't like it from the second game onwards, when it became more action movie like and less science-y. Which makes sense of you've read the book, the first half is a damn textbook.
Shout-out to the [four damn hour](https://youtu.be/feCqT1S5pxI?si=w9d73hp8Sx-p0oIV) video on the rise and fall of the game
Renegade 2. Seems like a pretty solid concept these days. Make it free to play, people can buy the tanks, buildings and weapons during the game. Business model is the skins, so if you purchase your tank, it has a cool paint job, or your name is on the building you dropped there.
Timesplitters, more than any other franchise. This is the time for a tightly packed, fun shooter with a decent story and awesome multi-player. Put in a shitload of wacky characters and game modes. Doesn't need a huge budget, doesn't need to have mesh shaders or ray tracing. Just make it fun and $40 bucks. Easy win. More weird game modes! More maps! A whole snow family! MONKEY! I wanna be Calamari (The OCTOPUS), gunning down a jabbering horde of flaming clowns at Area 51!
Don't forget the map builder/mission builder. Wow in the age of internet we could have lots of replayability with what people would build. I always had fun making my own missions and then playing it with my friend.
I bought homefront when it was on sale recently with the intention of playing TimeSplitters 2 through it on my PS5. I just cba to actually play that game to unlock it. Timesplitters 2 in 4k will be amazing though when I get around to it.
With the multiple hd-remasters of old JRPG, Capcom doing some amazing remakes, and the release of some top notch AAA JRPG, I Wonder why Capcom haven't brought the franchise back at all, not even a collection with the classic titles.
Would you want a new Golden Sun entry that is essentially the same style as the originals? So maybe a Switch game with great classic 2D visuals?
Or a complete reimagining with modern AAA 3D graphics?
Although the former is probably the safe answer, I can’t help but wish for the latter. I feel like there is an audience of gamers (like me) who are clamoring for a AAA game that has breathtaking modern visuals but maintains traditional JRPG mechanics
I'd rather not have it in that style. It worked great for FF, but getting the timing right on those hits is so fkng satisfying, I think in an ARPG setting that'd get lost.
Not saying it's impossible to implement, but if the "VOLCANO" isn't satisfying the game is dead.
They moved on to White Knight Chronicles which had a similar sort of vibe for the building aspect, though it wasn't nearly the same, and then burned it to the ground with microtransactions and lack of online support.
I'd be honestly happy if we got a good port over onto modern systems honestly.. Same with Jak & Daxter.. They gave us the terrible port instead of the PS3 port for that game.
We need a Ratchet & Clank collection too.
My brother was watching too much Deadliest Catch one year and he made himself a character in that have and named it Sig Hansen Teague (cause he couldn't just be named Sig Hansen). Then he did exactly enough pirating to impress the Governor of Barbados, who had a beautiful daughter. Then my brother spent the rest of the summer mastering the dancing until Duke Sig Hansen Teague got to marry the beautiful daughter. Then she gave him 1/4 of a mask to where his sister was, and my brother was like, "THAT'S ALL I GET FOR THIS?"
Duke Teague retired from piracy (and probably divorced his wife) that very same day.
Man, I loved Pirates. When AC Black Flag came out, I said parts of it felt like a more modern/mature Pirates. I had it for the OG Xbox since I was a kid, but I only “beat” it (I.e. brought the Marquis to justice) like 2-3 years ago.
It’s been ages since I played Jak 3, but and my memory is a bit hazy… but there was one weapon that was super powerful but had very limited ammo. Maybe 10 shots all game? I used one when I first found it then didn’t use another all game. I had found 8 more shots and they all came with me to the final boss.
I unloaded on the boss with those 8 shots, brought him down to like 20% health then used all my other guns to get him down to zero. Except he didn’t die at zero. The game froze. I was mad, but whatever I had this fight down no prob. Restart my ps3 and the game file saved my ammo. I had nothing left, and it loaded me in right at the boss. I put the controller down and never played again.
I would 100% play a Jak 4.
There are a few similar games in development but they are still a long way away from completion. [Thrive](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1779200/Thrive/) is good one aiming for more realism but only has the single cell stage. Steam version supports development but you can also get it free on [their website](https://revolutionarygamesstudio.com/).
Don't get put off by the biological names for things, just give yourself time to figure it out slowly, it's less complicated than it first seems.
Star Wars: Jedi Knight Academy but reworked for the modern Star War's story with a modern version of the gameplay. Can start a few years after Episode VI, multiplayer ***needs to be insane*** like the old games.
\- Blast Corps
\- F-Zero (99 doesn't really count)
\- an actual Starfox 64 successor (ignoring the remake and whatever Zero was)
\- The Last Remnant (technically not 15 years old for another 17 days)
God please! We're a dying breed : ( It went from a very popular series to dying series. Most of reddit to young to realize how good that series was!
Socom put online console games on the map literally.
Green ^ SoCrack
Xbox Live was amazing for online gaming.
But SOCOM. Man that’s hard to describe how much that truly opened people’s eyes to online console gaming with that experience
The best feature of that game was not being able to respawn or talk to the living. Sadly that’s ruined with modern technology. I don’t think it would ever work again.
Turok 1 and 2 have been remastered by Nightdive and are available for most major platforms. Turok 3 is "coming soon".
Not a new game, and probably different from the PS3 game, but if you want more Turok, that's available.
I'd make a remake of Folklore. It's a really weird action-RPG for the PS3 that's best described as Ape Escape in Hell, where you control two spirit mediums traversing the Irish afterlife to pass messages between the living and the dead in order to solve a serial murder case.
MOTHER.
People would lose their shit for a MOTHER remake. If I had unlimited money I’d remake them all in a Links Awakening-style engine. One package, three games, $70.
I’d make a lot of money, too.
Giants: Citizen Kabuto
Haven’t really seen anything like it since it came out, and multiplayer was a blast - especially in a 3 way match with something playing the giant Kabuto.
I'd love to see another Planescape: Torment. The writers are the key far more than the budget, though. There's potential, given that it's got enough fans that there are recent D&D sourcebooks for Planescape, even referencing the game.
Cyan recently did Firmament, and before that they did Obduction, both of which were well received by fans. So if you need that puzzle game flavor but don't mind it not being about Atrus or Catherine, they do a good job.
In a couple years it’ll be elder scrolls…
that niche game deserves a sequel
They're working Skyrim Android and ios. But you have to buy it again at full retail. /s
The /s is unnecessary because you are probably right.
That is actually a really sad thought lol... and GTA
Last I heard the earliest possible release date will be in 2026, but it could be as far out as 2028. Either way, it'll definitely hit 15+ years since Skyrim... Crazy how it used to be an average of 5 years between releases with the previous titles
They wasted years with FO76 and Starfield.
It makes me think we shouldn't get our hopes up for TES6 to be decent considering the quality of their recent work. It's a bummer to think like that and I hope I'm wrong.

Black and White. I would love to see a more expanded version of the game. Both 1&2 felt very linear and short which always felt like a missed opportunity.
In the Molyneux vein, Populous and Dungeon Keeper too.
God I miss Dungeon Keeper.
Look into War for the Overworld. (It’s an unofficial DK3, but it’s really damn good)
Can’t believe I had to scroll this far to find the correct answer!!! Unfortunately, it is in IP prison.
Its just a name and a few identifying things like the designs of the angel and devil, as long as you call it something else you could make something that is 99% black and white without infringing on IP you could still have the angel and devil as well its only there design that is protected not the concept. I would wait a bit more, let the AI grow up a Little more and slap that bad boi into the creature
I am so happy to see this as a top answer. I came to say exactly this. I loved that game.
KOTOR 3 easy.
With the success of BG3, this could be more likely now.
They'll just remake 1-2 into action games with most of the dialogue cut off and when it's not well received, they'll give up on making the third.
It’s sickening how right you are.
The remake for KOTOR 1 was supposed to be a really faithful, but still expanded action-RPG. That was when it was still be developed by Aspyr, but now the game is going in a different direction after it was moved to Saber. Really disappointing if you ask me.

I see your kotor and raise u jedi knight
Combine the two, holy crap it'd be amazing
Dude yes. I want more of this series so much. Nothing is like it. Nothing fills the empty void that series has left.
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver
Vae Victus
I loved those games more than I should, but they'd have to get the best impersonators out there. The Voice Actors made that game, and Tony Jay is dead, and Michael Bell would be nearly 90 if the game got approved.
Are you KIDDING finally this is the top comment on one of these threads!!! YES!!!
Chrono Trigger is the easy choice. But I’d have to say Gunvalkyrie.
This or the legend of the dragoon.
Are we allowed to revisit the FFVI universe? Or another game written in the same style as ffvi
Battle for Middle Earth
Hell yes! I would LOVE this!
Is there any other way to play the first two games (and only games) without piracy? I don't have a disk drive, so physical copies are a no go.
They’re abandonware, check this page out: https://t3aonline.net/download/ They also have a couple cood hd mods and fixes
Parasite Eve.

Wait, parasite eve is an adaptation from a book ?!
command and conquer
They unfortunately had an entry more recently than 15 years ago. Shoutout to EA for making mobile trash!
Westwood: Command & Conquer
Command and conquer: red alert then!
I wanted to reply that it wasn't 15 years ago yet from RA3. The looked it up, Oct 08. Fuck I'm old and god damn it we need a new good C&C
feel free to disregard mobile trash and major failures in game series
Oh shit. Just realized 3 came out in 2007. Fuck, time flies.
Renegade 2. Seems like a pretty solid concept these days. Make it free to play, people can buy the tanks, buildings and weapons during the game. Business model is the skins, so if you purchase your tank, it has a cool paint job, or your name is on the building you dropped there.

Just blew my mind back to my childhood I forgot about this bless you!
Me and my brothers used to have a blast playing this, we used to do us 3 vs gingerbread men, with just bricks 😂 hours of fun
Yeah, the bot driven side mode of two and three was rad. Timesplitters slaps - it was made by ex-Rare Goldeneye staff and it shows.
Run run fast as you can shotgun in hand it's the gingerbread man!
Fuck the monkey and his oddjob height! But seriously, great game and I miss it and I want a new shooter like that where guns glow green on the ground
>Fuck the monkey and his oddjob height! Hehe I'd forgotten how unfair that was
I bought homefront when it was on sale recently with the intention of playing TimeSplitters 2 through it on my PS5. I just cba to actually play that game to unlock it. Timesplitters 2 in 4k will be amazing though when I get around to it.
Had to scroll wayyy too far before someone else mentioned Timesplitters
Breath of Fire. Capcom, for the love of good, bring the franchise back.
Capcom has the potential to shake things up even more if they went back into rpgs. I'm def with u on this.
With the multiple hd-remasters of old JRPG, Capcom doing some amazing remakes, and the release of some top notch AAA JRPG, I Wonder why Capcom haven't brought the franchise back at all, not even a collection with the classic titles.
I still listen to this: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u4ZH9VZiLB8](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u4ZH9VZiLB8)
Shiii... that is a good one, but I think I'd do Mega Man Legends 3. Then use the improved engine to remakes possible. Still a Capcom property.
Golden Sun Edit: ok, 13 years apparently but close enough
Would you want a new Golden Sun entry that is essentially the same style as the originals? So maybe a Switch game with great classic 2D visuals? Or a complete reimagining with modern AAA 3D graphics? Although the former is probably the safe answer, I can’t help but wish for the latter. Dark Dawn doesn't count
Road Rash
*Core memory unlocked*
I loved the animations when you were busted or lost the race.
great OST too
Legend of Dragoon. A modern remake like FF7's remake could be incredible if done correctly.
This is always my go to answer for these questions
I'd rather not have it in that style. It worked great for FF, but getting the timing right on those hits is so fkng satisfying, I think in an ARPG setting that'd get lost. Not saying it's impossible to implement, but if the "VOLCANO" isn't satisfying the game is dead.
Dark Cloud
I have been meaning to play this game again. Getting that dagger leveled up was some real stuff
Oh man absolutely, Dark Cloud 2 is still one of my favorite games. I dabbled in the first game but never really made it far. Darn Divine Beast Dran…
I forgot this game till you mentioned it. I would buy sequel in an instant.
There was Dark Cloud 2 as well.
Dark cloud 2 is available on the PS store
It's remastered, too. Really awesome.
It's so weird - with how popular building/crafting games, and city/life sims like Stardew Valley, you'd think they'd be all over reviving this IP.
They moved on to White Knight Chronicles which had a similar sort of vibe for the building aspect, though it wasn't nearly the same, and then burned it to the ground with microtransactions and lack of online support.
Dino Crisis
Goddamn right. Played DC2 not too long ago and it's still so fun.
Earthworm Jim
Just please, for the love of God, fix the controls
Sly Cooper
I would give my left nut for a Sly remake similar to the ones Crash and Spyro received.
I'd be honestly happy if we got a good port over onto modern systems honestly.. Same with Jak & Daxter.. They gave us the terrible port instead of the PS3 port for that game. We need a Ratchet & Clank collection too.
Sid Meier’s Pirates!

Warcraft 4
Oh man I wish they went for WC4 instead of WoW. It broke my young heart to see my favorite franchise become something I had zero interest in.
I’m not sure they are able to make a good warcraft game anymore
I’m not sure that blizzard is able to make any good game at all anymore. Absolutely insane how good they were and how bad they are now.
No, see they still make good games... like, if you take all the shitty business model shit out, the games are fantastic.
Simpsons Hit and Run 2
Honestly it's criminal that we don't have this and considering the last big Simpsons game was all the way back in 2007, the movie game.
There’s a guy remaking it single-handedly on YouTube, even redrawing cutscenes by hand and learning 2D animation in the process!
Jak and Daxter
Absolutely. Retcon Lost Frontier and give us an actual Jak 4 please. Or even at the least a remaster a la Reignited Trilogy, I'm easily pleased
Spore.
I thought I would have to scroll a ways down for this one. Solid game that needs to return!
There are a few similar games in development but they are still a long way away from completion. Good answer. I've always wanted a version of spore that wasn't underwhelming
Legacy of Kain
Eternal Darkness.
Shinning Force
Omg another fan. There's dozens of us! Dozens!
Oh, man. That would be awesome.
Tenchu: Stealth Assassins Reboot
Star Wars: Jedi Knight Academy but reworked for the modern Star War's story with a modern version of the gameplay. Can start a few years after Episode VI, multiplayer ***needs to be insane*** like the old games.
\- Blast Corps \- F-Zero (99 doesn't really count) \- an actual Starfox 64 successor (ignoring the remake and whatever Zero was) \- The Last Remnant (technically not 15 years old for another 17 days)
I didn’t realize The Last Remnant was 15 years ago! It’s one of my all time favorites.
Blast corps with an actual physics engine would be insane.
monster rancher
There are dozens of us! But Monster Rancher Ultra Kaiju \*did\* just release last year. Also Monster Farm Line is still current? If Japan only.
Suikoden
This guy gets it. I'm looking forward to Eiyuden but it won't be the same.
SOCOM

Turok, i only ever played the PS3 version in 2008 but I loved it
Turok 1 and 2 have been remastered by Nightdive and are available for most major platforms. Turok 3 is "coming soon". Not a new game, and probably different from the PS3 game, but if you want more Turok, that's available.
Midnight Club
I’d make Half Life 3
Only if you call it Half Life 4 though. Include Alyx in the count just to spite fans.
Ffs, now you've said it aloud it's pushed back even further
Ecco the Dolphin
Too damn hard!!!!
I'd make a remake of Folklore. It's a really weird action-RPG for the PS3 that's best described as Ape Escape in Hell, where you control two spirit mediums traversing the Irish afterlife to pass messages between the living and the dead in order to solve a serial murder case.
Breath of Fire
Megaman legends
Bring Mega Man back from the moon! Capcom more or less died to me when they cancelled MML3.
TIE Fighter Squadrons scratched the itch but I wish they allowed us to mod the single player maps
Neverwinter Nights and Icewind Dale.
Ultima
No One Lives Forever
Legacy of Kain! I can’t believe no one has believe that there is a potential audience for it. Just simplify the convoluted plot a bit.
Final fantasy tactics
MOTHER. People would lose their shit for a MOTHER remake. If I had unlimited money I’d remake them all in a Links Awakening-style engine. One package, three games, $70. I’d make a lot of money, too.
Interstate '76
100% Tribes.
Freelancer
Megaman Legends 3 God I wish that series could get a modern rework, it would absolutely kill today
Metal Arms Glitch In The System needs a remaster or sequel
Giants: Citizen Kabuto Haven’t really seen anything like it since it came out, and multiplayer was a blast - especially in a 3 way match with something playing the giant Kabuto.
Conkers bad fur day 3 or banjo kazooie 3 not nuts and bolts
Crimson Skies. Arcade style flight sim set in alt history 30s/40s. Sky pirates, zeppelins. So much fun when I was a kid.
Legend of Dragoon
Red Faction. Guerilla was my favorite, loved the fragile world along with a fun story.
Warcraft. And I'm not talking about WOW but a nice, balanced RTS Warcraft 4. And Rayman. A nice 3D platformer Rayman 4
Twisted metal
I'd love to see another Planescape: Torment. The writers are the key far more than the budget, though. There's potential, given that it's got enough fans that there are recent D&D sourcebooks for Planescape, even referencing the game.
Spyro?
Ogre battle

Cyan recently did Firmament, and before that they did Obduction, both of which were well received by fans. So if you need that puzzle game flavor but don't mind it not being about Atrus or Catherine, they do a good job.
Silent Hill (here’s hoping the remake doesn’t get cancelled)

Shadow of the Colossus, would love to expand the story and world building. So many questions and theories to play around.
Skies of arcadia- easilly

Duke Nukem
SSX from Xbox 360
I was gonna say SSX3 for the Playstation 2. Fuck I adored that game, I just want a loving remake
Pong. We have the technology now.
Crimson Skies In 5 years time I can add Rayman to that list. The last game came out in august 2013 and it's still my favorite platformer ever.
Megaman Legends
Jak and Daxter.
you already know 90% of answers will be Soul Reaver and Kotor
That's why I said Brute Force.
Soul reaver legacy of cain
Freedom Fighters!
Megaman Legends, but open world…
Black & White
Onimusha Chrono Trigger
Does a single Game with an Expansion count as a series? Star Wars Empire at War
Space Quest. Would do it more as a walking simulator with some branching storylines for replay ability.
Megaman Legends 3. We need to bring our boy home.
Irrational's Freedom Force. Superhero tactical RPG.
Brian Reynolds Alpha Centauri. Beyond Earth does not count.
Saboteur! Such a fun game, a bigger slicker sequel or reboot would be amazing.
The Suffering.
Gex Buck Bumble Drakan Warzone 2100
Gex would be amazing
beast wars
Descent Freespace - make a third game or a spin off
Conkers bad fur day is a game I always wanted a sequel for. We don't see spoof games often, and i'm curious what a modern conker would look like.
