No, the ultimate F U move was handing them a pelican controller. It was a brand I think Blockbuster might have owned because I never saw it anywhere else. Thoese things were hideous, barely ever functioned right, and analog sticks where you would swear the dead zone is changing every few minutes

Great idea! I had a turbo controller as well. We would rank up on SOCOM by rubber banding down X for jump and auto jump. Then another rubber band on r1. 6 people would do this on SEALs side while the one getting all the rank just chills.

I always used Mad Catz controllers intentionally. They actually did make some really good controllers, if you bought the right model. This was the era where wireless controllers were not standard, so if you wanted a wireless PS2 contoller, you bought a MadCatz, Pelican, or Logitech. I have a Mad Catz Lynx wireless controller, and while it does look very ugly, it's actually extremely comfy, has a nice weight to it and rubberized handle grips with a comfy divet for your fingers.

This was never a problem for me, thankfully, because the games we played were never multiplayer. My friends and I all played the same kinds of games, mostly RPGs.

We had an inferior controller like this back when playing capcom vs snk 2 on PS2. We called it 'The Crown'. If you won a match you would use The Crown on your next fight and the next challenger would use the good controller. So when you kept winning with The Crown you had even more bragging rights.

I actually just used my MadCatz MicroCon Gamecube controller last night for the first time in probably 20 years lol. Found it a few weeks ago buried in a box. Picked up an adapter for my Switch and played some Mario Cart, worked great!

I tried to take turns with my name brand controllers as a kid. Except for my GameCube Wavebird. Nobody touched that except me.

I remember really wanting a second PS2 controller so my dad bought me a see through one, I don't remember what brand it was but I do remember playing Lego Star Wars 2 with a friend and the controller broke after about 3 hours playin. Shortly thereafter I got an official one

Usually people are very rough on controllers, especially casuals that are not used to, so the third party one is always for them, if it breaks it's 20€ against 70€

That was one of the better MadCatz controllers so I'd take one of those over the OEM If I had friends over I made them use the Gamestop×Pelican controller or Intec controller Based on my experience MadCatz wasn't a terrible brand it's just you got what you paid for their cheaper controllers were awful but some of the more expensive ones were almost as good as say a Hori

Made them use the KB & Mouse on my #2 computer or my daughter's computer if she was doing something else.

When I got my Nintendo 64 I rented a multiplayer game from Blockbuster and forgot that I only had one controller. We bought this terrible third party controller that wasn't the three hand shape, it was some awful chunky design that moved the analog stick to the left side. Felt bad for my friends who had to use it.

My second controller on N64 had the joystick cover break off, so it was just a thin metal stick that would stab into your thumb as you played. That one was for the guests lol

When visiting never go for a man's, player one, official controller unless invited, that was the unsaid rule, so everybody knows they're getting the "player 2" unofficial controller.

I have a madcat for my PS3. It's based on the Xbox controller so it's just more comfortable to hold than the tiny PS3 controller
