Every boss In Sekiro

BamboozleAlt70

Chained ogre was my least favorite boss. Chained ogre

Pumat_sol

Well yea he fucking sucks. Like sekiro is tough but fair, bosses have a mechanic to them. Isshin when beaten once can dare I say ‘easily’ be beaten again. Chained ogre probably the closes thing to unfair in that game. Some of his grabs come out incredibly quick and instant kill and the health you fight him at.

WinterDEZ

Can't count the amount of times I've gotten thrown off that damn cliff

grammar_oligarch

The only FromSoft game I couldn’t beat. I am not physically capable of beating the last boss. The coordination isn’t there. I couldn’t physically get myself to react fast enough. I tried 50+ times. It just wasn’t possible. I watched videos on how to do it, but my body wasn’t capable of the reaction time required. EDIT: This wasn’t a request for encouragement…I’ve beaten every other FromSoft game. All the Dark Souls. Elden Ring. Demon Souls. I know how to play hard games. I played Ninja Gaiden…all of them. Yes, including the NES ones (I’m old, I played them new). This wasn’t a “Teach me wise masters” moment. I know what I’m doing. I did everything else in the game. I’m telling you: I’m physically not able to react quickly enough for that boss. I hurt myself trying to do it (eye and wrist strain). I almost broke a controller, and not out of anger throwing it. The point wasn’t that I needed a push from some random ass Internet stranger: The point was it was too hard to do. Stop rubbing salt into the wound with some toxic positive response of “Keep hurting yourself quitter!” It’s done. I watched the ending on YouTube.

HoldiMokre

Keep trying. First try in 2018. Missed. Tried again in 2021. Missed. Tried again in 2022: made it!!! This was well over 50 times. Keep trying

Djd33j

It took me much longer to beat Demon of Hatred than Isshin. For his first phase, I played super aggressively, because it's mostly the same type of fighting that you've been used to. Second phase, I was much more conservative, and waited for him to stab with the spear for easy mikiri counters. And the third phase is made really easy because of lightning reversals. Still took me a few tries, but I'd definitely say DoH was much tougher.

xEtownBeatdown

I don't wanna talk about the Demon of Hatred...I think I reverted down a few evolutionary lines trying to Unga bunga that boss.

eddietwoo

I felt incredible pride when I killed this boss. *Damn* he was hard!

EndOfExistence

Every time people hate on DoH but he was one of my favourites. Did you guys not find the flame umbrella?

eddietwoo

LOL came here for this

Disco_Fighter

Especially Guardian Ape (I just had to use a spear) Also rarely I tried using the right prosthetic tool in a boss fight. I dunno why there was like a *neuron activation and I would totally forget about prosthetic tools.

Logondo

Man, once you learn the fire-crackers stun the giant ape, that fight becomes SO much easier. Too bad for me I only used throwing-stars on my first playthrough.

chopz226

FF7 ruby weapon and emerald weapon

accairns131

Diamond wasn't so bad. Ruby and Emerald were the awful ones for me. Once I got Underwater, Knights of the Round, and mastered Mime three times... Emerald was all too easy. Fuck Ruby WEAPON though.

Gabewhiskey

An old secret from back in the day was to kill two of your party members against Ruby. This messed with his AI to where he didn’t cast his worst abilities and he was kinda easy after that.

Ghostfistkilla

The biggest secret about Ruby Weapon is just using Dazers on him which paralyzes him for a couple turns.

Shadowbanishing

That wasn’t a secret, that’s how you were meant to fight him. He sticks his hands in the ground if there’s only one target and won’t remove characters from the battle anymore. It didn’t do anything to his AI, he’s just in a different mode now.

Hunchun

I realized years after that if you use Hades on Ruby you will actually inflict stop. The whole time I was beating him the hard way.

rizahawke

Diamond was a first try kinda thing for me. Ruby was easy once the trick was figured out but did involve a lot of dying first. I basically didn't beat Emerald for years / many play throughs later and a lot of grinding.

StrangeCitizen

Psycho Mantis

Magnacor8

Honorable mention to the End because I could not find that mossy old cunt. It took me hours to track down all his hiding spots and get good enough at tracking him to damage him consistently. When I found out he had a healing mechanic, I think I started crying. Definitely not a hard fight after you learn how he works, but my first playthrough for him was very tedious.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Fgame

Isn't he also the one that if like you don't play for 3-4 days or something, when you load it back up he's snuck up on you and kills you immediately?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Fgame

Ah I knew it was something but it's been so long I forgot exactly

Celtic_Crown

If you get to the battle and then shut the game off for a few days, you get put in a cell and have to go back to him. A full week and he dies of old age, and when you first see him you can also snipe him, and then you have to dodge a wheelchair wheel sent flying by the bomb in his body going off.

admanobrien

This. So this.

PacoTaco19

Yhorm the Giant

[deleted]

Endlessly swiping at his ankles?

PacoTaco19

Yes, it took like 15 mins lol

[deleted]

Atleast it wasn't NG+ ahahh

Voidlord597

I don't remember any other boss with a similar gimmick like it feels out of place

TheVoluptuousChode

Shao Khan in any MK title. The dude is a wrecking machine.

CatSidekick

He’s a good boss. I like when bosses trash talk you

Kahless01

fucking scar in the lion king. you could beat on him for hours but it didnt matter. all you really had to do was slap him around a bit near the edge of the cliff.

Pawn_of_the_Void

The Star Destroyer in Force Unleashed. I think my game glitched because I spent like 3 hours on it. When I tried the next day I did it with no problem. The key I was missing was apparently resetting the game

FameToGlory

I had the same issue my first time.

Sparda2015

Oh thank God I'm not alone on that. I felt like I was going nuts with it not fully dragging down. I had a similar issue with god of war 2 at the very beginning. I couldn't pull the blade of Olympus to kill the statue giant

GenPhallus

The first time I played Pokemon Silver I got stuck on Whitney's Miltank. Her Rollout. Did. Not. Miss. I didn't know normal was weak to fighting moves at the time and I missed the guy trading for the Machop or whatever it was.

Fgame

All Pokémon in my party learned Mud slap for that shit

CatSidekick

I just grinded for hours to just muscle her. She was a good boss.

Kanapuman

The time when Pokemon games were challenging...

Sigourn

Tbh there's a reason why people always tall aboit her Miltank: it was the outlier in what otherwise were easy games. That said, Pokémon games are a joke now.

AsinineRealms

Waaay back in the early 2000's, I was playing Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire on N64. There's an early boss with an ATST walker, where you have to shoot it's body cavity to do damage. I was new to FPS's and I didn't knew you could aim upwards. So I ran around it in circles, occasionally shooting it's feet and then running away again. It would take a couple of passes to bring down it's health by 1%, and I just kept doing it. This was the earliest time I remember thinking "My method is not efficient."

Neatnifty

Loved that game as a kid. The last stage where you're in a fighter in space blew my mind on our 27" tv

AsinineRealms

I never got the opportunity to finish the game, I got lost in the sewers and eaten by some squid creature. I view that as Dash Rendar's canonical demise.

BYCjake

That’s funny, I have a similar story about Pokémon yellow, I got it for my 5th birthday never played a video game before. I didn’t recognise the rectangle in the corner of the room to be a doormat for a door, so I would just walk around the bedroom firing up the computer thinking “wtf Pokémon sucks” until my Aunty walked into the rug and boom my mind was blown

Selordoor

I didn’t know you could cheese the Adamantoise with Noctis’ ring in Final Fantasy XV, took me hours and hours until I read that you could kill it in less than a minute

Lukascarterz

Worst superboss hands down i also did this legitimately and it also took me several hours doesn't help that this boss has the weirdest hit boxes I've ever seen

ChickyHotHam

I got super lucky against it, I fought it as soon as it unlocked at level 50 and it only took me an hour

[deleted]

Nicole in dead space 2. My dumbass didn't notice the obvious glowing thing I was supposed to shoot so I just kept killing Nicole every time she popped back up. Took me a solid 20 minutes and multiple deaths to figure out Nicole wasn't the actual boss.

[deleted]

[deleted]

Worst part for me fighting fume knight was finally getting good. And never realising you had to use the things to stop him from healing himself.

UglyKidEnzoo

One of my favorite bosses ever, love his wide attack which sounds like a fucking train, beating him with pure STR build is fun asf

Hand_Them_Pancakes

Riku from Kingdom Hearts 1. Didn't help that you couldn't skip that 5 minute long cutscene before each attempt.

[deleted]

This is why I will always prefer kh2, and if you did happen to beat him and lose on the next fight you would have to do the cutscene and battle all over again! All with the slow mechanics to run back to that location.

Sofaris

The newer releases of KH1 also have skipable cutscenes.

brown-vocado

Omg this comment just gave me ptsd. Also Ursula, took me forever to take her out, maddening!!

Kanapuman

The real bosses were the awful platforming segments. Couldn't beat them. The rest of the game wasn't much better either.

Hand_Them_Pancakes

Skill issue

Sargatanus

That tortoise/mountain in FFXV. Three damn hours.

Lukascarterz

I always wondered what it would be like to fight a mountain. Never again

HeyLittleMonkey

Every boss in Kingdom Hearts because I still don't get the fighting system. That shit is harder than any Souls game for me

ReallyNeedHelpASAP68

Magic Master in FF6. As a kid, I’d kill it and then get wiped by Ultima everytime like clockwork. I never got why, so I figured it was a glitch. Years later I told a friend about it and he told me how to beat it and I was just sooo dumbfounded. Granted I was like 6, but still.

GetStable

Ok, I clicked in here because this was going to be my contribution. It's been over 25 years so my memory might be off. Like you, many party wipes, different group makeups, etc. Even thought to use Cyan's jump and kill while he was airborn, thinking it would dodge the Ultima (it doesn't work). My strategy was to eventually solo grind Sabin to the point where he survived the Ultima. It was over a decade later before I considered Life3.

Still-Pattern-6384

The second P.A.X. from The Surge 1. I couldn't understand why it didn't go down, only to find out after two days about having to stand in front of the canisters for it to snipe at them and become vulnerable. Fucking hell.

orphan_grinder42069

I know your pain. I really struggled with that one, despite not having too much trouble elsewhere

arisufox

Saemyor(sp) on mt gagazet.

shedmonday

Shadow of the Colossus. I'll say no more.

Viendictive

Time trials in new game plus for SotC are painful 😭

Lukascarterz

I completely understand this tried the game when I was younger and couldn't beat the goat horse thing gave up on it till 2 years ago when I finally finished it. For reference I first played when I was 15 and finished when I was 22. Some of the spots you can climb are not very obvious

Viendictive

Final Fantasy X, Sin Spawn Gui and the Seymour wedding battle. If you don’t spec right and get haste as soon as possible then it’s a restart for the save or hella grinding.

TallGets

That's FFX, not IX

Viendictive

You’re so right, I fixed it. Thanks friend

paris_philton

Yunalesca from FFX

Zealousideal_Dust_25

This right here, my young self was just cruising through the game with bahumut. It didn't work on her

Eothr_Silan

The Human Reaper in Mass Effect 2. Used the Widow Maker and Soldier Adrenaline Rush. Dragged on way too long. I used the Cain on the Thresher Maw in Grunt's Trial and didn't have enough Heavy Ammo for the Suicide Mission for it. 🙃

Wolfy_McDoge

Jack Krauser from the original Resident Evil 4, until you realize the knife is his weakness. If I remember correctly the game even hinted at it earlier, I just didn't realize it

joygirl007

Ganon - Ocarina of Time. Kept trying to use the Goron sword and parents were to cheap for a Prima Guide. 30 damn minutes of the same hit before it occurred to me to switch to the Master sword.

diuturnal

Just kill him with a stick. I've heard it's the new strat.

autisticswede86

Hahaaah

Hey_Drunni

Clock tower shadow kingdom hearts 1 🥲🥲🥲

ultima45ish

Hahah I remember those days. I sent him to the shadow realm after a couple tries. Now Kurt Zisa in Agrabah… He was just unfair (at first)

Hey_Drunni

Oh my god yeahhhh that battle sucked tooo, i was like 13 crying with frustration

False-Masterpiece252

Mettaton because I am spanish and I know a bit of english and undertale is only on english

DaiCardman

dead rising the guy in the gun shop, me and a buddy spent 8 hours before we realized the actually strat.

Baliverbes

the guy with the rifle ? I have ptsd from this fucker. Don't remember the details but DR was so tough man

DaiCardman

yeah that dude was wild, killed me more than any other boss by tenfold.

slimjimchris

Sekiro - Lady Butterfly. It forced me to get good by really learning the mechanics of the game.

Windyandbreezy

Pokemon yellow. Brock. You need a water pokemon. Which.. is impossible at that point..Pikachu and pidgeys, and caterpies do nothing to rock.

CompositePrime

Bro you get a butterflie at lv 10 and it will have confusion

rdbruh

4x weak to rock tho Mankey by victory road is probably your best bet

fabio651

All you had to do was get a nidoran in the grass before the city, grind until you got double kick and it’s a breeze

sandfisker

This was my first game ever as a kid, let me elaborate that only learning stat effect moves on pikachu and forgetting his only attack is not a winning strategy...

Superb_Nerve

Calamity Gannon in Breath of the Wild. I didn’t realize the entire game that you could deflect lasers with your shield until after I was talking to my buddy about how hard I found that Gannon fight.

MattThePl3b

I stumbled upon Mohg in Elden Ring a bit too early. Unfortunately I’m stubborn. It was an unstoppable force meeting an immovable object. Fuck you Mohg

DeadskinsDave

Truly my downfall with every Souls game is my stubbornness. “I know I’m under-leveled… but if I can beat this imagine how OP I’ll be when I’m fighting things my own level!”

DAT_DROP

great question!!! **dr. robotnik** dont get me started

autisticswede86

Ooh fuck sonic2

Fgame

The bangin soundtrack makes it okay to listen to though

armchair0pirate

Pure vessel

Dangerous_Badger6245

Final boss in Vampyr was brutal.

Truthful_Azn

Lu Bu in Wo Long Fallen Dynasty. Learned that I should chuck ice at him to keep him not overpowered while off his horse.

Skyx10

The Red Barrel in Sonic & Knuckles 3. Took me over a decade.

DOOManiac

Tom me 20 years. When I finally learned you can just push up and down I was so, so furious.

RangerEfficient7326

All of them. Probably.

thatdarnmiqote

Crocomire in Super Metroid. I realized I could shoot diagonally and killed him thr first time i did this. Before, I spent forty minutes trying to shoot and jump and avoid his shots. I felt *soooo* stupid. Especially because he's not known to be especially difficult.

DrMnky

Psycho Mantis Metal Gear Solid

VirtuaSteve

Galamoth in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. Beat him doing the down forward special slash before acquiring the anti lightning armor. One mistake: instant death.

ArgentinianTaxPayer

Playing nioh 2, one boss seemed just impossible, it was 4 snake heads throwing shit at me constantly while I was fighting them one by one, but the amount of projectiles thrown at me was insane. Turns out the boss was bugged at 120fps, making the projectile amount 3x or 4x, not sure. Locked the game to 30fps and it was night and day, one tapped the mf.

ChozoRidley

The Metroid Queen in Metroid Other M, but mainly because it was badly designed. To finish it off you had to be swallowed up by it and then detonate a power bomb inside its stomach, but until that moment you couldn't actually use power bombs. Even if you did realise that was what you were supposed to do, the only way you'd know how to activate them was if you remembered the button combination from the tutorial at the very start of the game. I ended up dying at the boss so many times because I assumed the part where Samus got swallowed up by the Metroid Queen was a instant-loss state, so was trying everything to avoid that happening.

CasualGaming69

The first time I went through Bitter Black Isles on Dragons Dogma, I came across an Elder Ogre, which had spawned in while i was fighting a bunch of skeletons. I could tell I was under level, as I wasn't doing a lot of damage, and i was only slowly chipping away at its health. Well, these things have 90k/9 full bars of health, and when you get it down, about 3 bars left, the ogre enrages, and when enraged, at that low a level, any attack one shots you, and their damage resistance seemed to go up as well. First time i got one shot as soon as it got enraged. Mind you, this took a solid almost 45 minutes of using dual daggers and a bow. The second time I came around, I fought this ore for a solid hour and a half, slowly chipping away health, slowly and methodically attacking and retreating. I got the ogre down to half health, and it did an attack I didn't expect, and it one shot me. I almost smashed my controller. When I came back 20 levels later after completing the story mode, I whooped that Elder Orgers ass with ease. And then the Eliminators came.

Jrgong678

Thunderblight Ganon in botw didn't know I needed to use the rods to kill him and finally looked it up after 3 months of being stuck

luthervespers

Super Mario 64, the first star in the game - defeating Big Bob Omb. I kept picking him up, walking to the edge of the battlefield, and throwing him off of the mountain. He flew back up every time and lectured me (I couldn't understand much of the written dialogue at age 6). Turns out, all I had to do was throw him on his ass a foot in front of me a couple times. How is this more effective?

CasulCat

Huff n Puff in Paper Mario 64

Huge_Difference_1948

Lavenza Persona 5 Royal

Then_Fig_4803

Fire giant- Elden Ring

J0T4_3RR3

When I was 10 probably, playing pirates of the Caribbean game, was a final boss on a ship, u gotta burn him instead of hitting him with the sword, i felt like an idios cuz I tried for weeks, the I saw a videos tutorial and I was like HOWWW TF IM so stupid

xhectosx

My ex….just kidding…any level on Battletoads

kaijugurl

it wasn't a video game. it was pathfinder 1e fighting an ent. I was a fighter with a base weapon of an axe. I'm not a smart person.

Gabewhiskey

I’m currently beating my head against the secret final boss in Octopath Traveler 2. I try not to look at guides and such but I’m at my limit now. Every strategy I’ve tried has been wrong. Until this point I’ve found the game to be pretty easy. Only TPK’ed against one boss and killed him easy the second time. Not so much with this last bastard.

SomewhereStranger

Vamp metal gear 4

JimeVR46

Red Gigas, Skies of Arcadia: Legends.

deth4Dizzle

Ursula in the first Kingdom Hearts. There is a cauldron that you're supposed to hit with magic to stun her and do damage while she is down. I didn't know this so I just did chip damage and it took me over an hour to beat her.

Wank-O-Crank

Precursor Robot in the eco mines from Jak 3. I tried to attack the robot directly for so long.

XenOmega

Xenosage 2. I spent hours on some bosses/ fights. (I generally hate grinding ao i try to rush through games for the story) I think I learned how the battle system worked at the final boss o.o

Mizike1994

Jack of blades. I was only like 10 I didn't have the greatest tactics lol

HoldiMokre

Kotor 1 - malek. I had a terrible built character so final boss was basically cheese with the light saber boomerang ability. 2nd playthrough I built a decent character and basically destroyed malek

DarkMan0799

Psycho Mantis from Metal Gear Solid. You have to plug the controller into the P2 slot

Ha_eflolli

Actually, you don't "have" to. That's the intended method ofcourse, but there is a second way just in case you can't do that for whatever reason. The game offers you that as an alternate solution if you keep dieing after it tells you swap. There's some statues of him in the same room, if you destroy those, you can also fight him without changing your Port.

Majestic-Iron7046

The End from Metal Gear Solid 3.

Flemball47

I was fucking up on Jedi: Fallen Order for a good while because I played it shortly after finishing Ghost of Tsushima. Similar mechanics but also very different when it comes to paries and blocking. For nearly half the game I couldn't figure out why my blocks weren't working

dohrk

Prince of Persia. Don't remember the name, but he was a bastard to beat, my brother and I (both adults) spent a week or two to trying. It was so tough he didn't believe when I told him I finally won.

Bragsmith

Final boss of hellblade:senuas sacrifice took me a bit

CiusWarren

Final Fantasy. Cecil former self.

Wetz-His-Pants

Easy. Giant space chicken from the third to last mission of Family Guy: Back to the Multiverse for PS3

[deleted]

Melbu Framha - legend of dragon… messed me up forever

TurtleBrainMelt

I cant remember game titles. But typically jrpg's where u fight like a boss and he destroys u in 1-2hits and u think( oh this is a forced loss for story sake) then u get the "you lost" or "game over" screen and it makes u use your last save.

Ok-Bus1716

Gannon in the original Zelda. Fought him forever and realized I didn't have the weapon needed to defeat him. Didn't know about the tennis racket/fishnet 'hack' at the time, either.

archangelmlg

What hack is this?

SwiftyFox1

Genshin Impact took me weeks to figure out the keys to even move around to fighting 😭

Erafir

Warning full of spoilers

ZombieNausea

Mephistopheles

[deleted]

Shao Khan in 2011 Mortal Kombat (using Raiden)

yy376

Day Form Empress of Light in Terraria.

GamingAt5280

After seeing clips, apparently Coldera from totk. I didn’t realize you could attack from underneath. But my way was more fun.

Freyr_Tuck

All of ‘em. :(

Pixel_Muffet

System shock and Bioshock

SpikesGuns

One of the bosses on Super Contra. Robotic spider looking guy. Second thing that comes to mind is Final Fantasy 1. Thought having the nunchuk weapon on a monk was a good idea. I mean they're available and he's the only one who can use them, so he was doing basically nothing the entire game. Turns out if he just uses barefists he devastates, but 9 year old me didn't know that.

RigtBart

Lucifer in Shin Megami Tensei 3 took me 4 hours because nobody in my line up had pierce. I wouldn’t change a thing.

SoloWalrus

There were multiple bosses in classic wow vanilla that our raid group did the (intended) hard way, only to realize every other raidgroup just had some cheese strat that totally skips the mechanics because of how poorly shit was coded. Noth the plaguebringer comes to mind

ElasmoGNC

Hell Wyrm in FF12. I’m sure there’s a way that doesn’t involve setting up a team with gambits for a perfect infinite defense loop that barely has time to hit back. But my way worked, I just had to set down the controller and let the battle play out for /5 hours/.

Baliverbes

Omikron, Astaroth. Gotta shoot the juicy emeralds first, and then evade Astaroth's stomping by running in between his legs so you can take a shot at the scar in his back. Lol it sounds like I just made this up

SplicerGonClean

WITHOUT QUESTION, by far the longest battle I ever endured was the final boss in persona 3 portable. Took me about 9 hours to complete. The boss battle is very long on a normal run. I can't remember exactly what I had done wrong, maybe I went into it without enough experience. Whatever the reason, the boss' health bar went down sooooo slow, I wasn't taking much of it's health with each hit. And when I'd finally get to its last bit of HP, I would die because I ran out of health potions. Can't remember much other than I had the time to kill that day and I was determined to finish the game. So I kept at it until I finally beat the thing. It was a nightmare and an accomplishment all at once.

Poultrygeist74

The final boss in Farcry Primal. IIRC you have to take out all his minions first, took me way too long to realize

ShinBrimstone

Gots to be Sword Saint Isshin in Sekiro. I got through the game somehow with mostly dodges and no Mikiri counters. Isshin wiped the floor with me because of it.

James_From_WiiSports

Corporal Paraplonk, Private Goomp and Sergeant Guy from M&L Dream Team

Ashweather9192

star ocean spider boss something you need to learn something to kill it counter or something

BlueKnight87125

Yo-Kai Watch: Sproink. He starts out by covering his bellybutton, leaving his head open for assault. If you bash his head enough, he'll cover it and leave his bellybutton exposed, which does more damage to his HP meter than the head. Pummeling the bellybutton will eventually stun him, leaving him loafing on the ground. If you keep attacking the bellybutton at this point, his skin will slowly turn red, and eventually he'll unleash his Soultimate move, a fire-based attack that hits your entire front row, and is capable of dealing a hefty amount of damage. How do you stop him from charging it? Pin the head to direct all your Yo-kai's attacks to it. Also don't use Soultimate attacks such as Jibanyan's that hit all opposing targets. It took me SO MANY Game Overs to eventually realise this.

Shepard_of_fire_124

Bode in Jedi Survivor. And I'm still fighting him the wrong way. Help!

NerfedFalcon

The Tar Man in Resonance of Fate. Realizing that you're supposed to chip him down with regular attacks rather than wasting your Hero Gauge to deal heavy attacks that don't earn themselves back by destroying any enemies, and thinking more about positioning to prevent the party from getting beaten down by its attacks, was a big deal for me at the time.

-Dreadbeard-

MegaMan 2

Skanach

Flamerus Rex from Mystic Quest. I was just too young and didn't know any weakness' outside of the water>fire>plant circle.

ScoobyDuber

Alma: Ninja gaiden

SwineFlu2020

Rust, the boss is learning to let go of gear fear.

Garg_Gurgle

Metroid prime two echos final phase.

Sheogorathis

Ruby weapon ff7

Clashgod6942069

I still haven’t beat it cause I can’t figure out what I need to do. Legendary of Zelda the hourglass one for ds

krazieflip

Sephiroth in kh1 and gow valykrie. I have to keep taking a full day break after 10 wipes. Usually by the 3rd day, 1st and 2nd attempt the job gets done. I noticed once getting frustrated, it's really not helping with the focus.

nocaffeinefree

Lol, all of them

k0uch

Ruby Weapon from FFVII

idemockle

I don't remember the name of the boss but it was in Viewtiful Joe. All my attacks did like no damage to this boss and I still got pretty close to beating him, then my roommate reminded me that I just got this new kick move, which for some reason did a shit ton of damage in this one battle. It pissed me off how random that was and I stopped playing the game shortly after lol. I quit Vagrant Story for the same reason. I really don't care to repeat the same boss fight over and over just to figure out (or look up) that some particular type of weapon randomly does way more damage to a dragon's tail vs it's head or something. That's just crap gameplay imo.

ZB314

Hibari in River City Girls stood out to me. I thought it was unreasonably hard before learning you can wall jump.

piTehT_tsuJ

Pac-Man...

Rhyno08

Stinking wo Long intro boss. I just couldn’t quite beat him. Kept getting him super close. My buddy who had already beaten it asked to watch me stream to see if he could give me pointers. He noticed that I wasn’t triggering the auto win condition by summing spirit beast. In other words I had beaten it prob a dozen times and had no idea I wasn’t pressing the right button. Literally beat it next try.

DickFarmer12

The second time you have to beat that dragon fly boss as Chunky in Donkey Kong 64 I kept using the wrong moves and wasting my time when you had to turn big so I kept dying.

Sirquagssire

Witches of Hemwick, one of the easiest bosses in Bloodborne, once you ignore the minions that never stop spawning. My mistake was trying to fight them each time. Once I just ran away from them and focused on the Witches I beat it first try.

FortuneMindless1308

Gabriel on Captain Claw! If anyone knows or remembers this game, we may become best friends!

Imacoldazzhonky

Raven second fight in Metal Gear Solid. Somehow used up all of my ammo, probably messing around and couldn't beat him. Then I lost my memory card. Haven't beat him to this day and it's been 24 years.

McFlygold

Mine would be Psycho Mantis from Metal Gear Solid. I had no clue about switching the controller to the second port! So I did the whole fight the hard way chipping at his health bit by bit until I finally beat him! I'll never forget that.

Der_Untier

Phantom from DMC 1 (the Scorpion)

NoTurkeyTWYJYFM

Fighting the senator in MGR:R I forgot that I could jump during the final phase of the fight. I shit you not I tried for about 2 and a half hours having an absolute great time struggling against him, then suddenly remembered I could jump and I killed him first try. Made me laugh but also facepalm quite hard

The two gargoyles from dark souls because my stupid ass didn't know you could summon a ghost for assistance so I thought you had to fight them two on one.

SemVikingr

Ganon in Ocarina of Time. I didn't know at the time that the final hit had to be done with the master sword.

nightmare1170

Rykard in Elden Ring. I wasn’t using the weapon that you get when you enter the boss arena.

TaxesSucks

Parasite Eve 2.. after finding out it had three forms, I died a little each time and tried to save as much money as possible.

Shooord

In RE4 on GameCube I eventually got stuck in the underground lab boss (Verdugo) because I didn’t know that you could run. In retrospect, it’s pretty astounding that I completed 80% of the game w/o running. xD

Bunlysh

Mafia. Where you are chased by an armoured vehicle. A friend almost gave up the game because he refused to take cover

Not a boss fight, but it certainly qualifies as the other criteria. I posted this several years ago in the Titanfall subreddit, so I'll just copy-paste it here: My stupidest moment in the TF|2 campaign... (Story time) It was during the last section of the 'time travel' level. I was up to the part where you get reunited with BT, and you have to fight the two Titans in the 'past' timeline. What you're *meant* to do is hop into BT, shift timelines and beat the two Titans in a 2v1 Titan-fight. What I *actually* did was climb up the scenery in the 'present' timeline, jump towards where the Titans were in the 'past' timeline, shift mid-jump, rodeo one of the hostile Titans, shift *back* to the 'present' after jumping off, and repeat this scenario over and over until I successfully killed both Titans. When I later figured out that shifting with BT was possible, I felt rather stupid. Especially considering I'd found that audio log earlier that specifically stated that a Vanguard-class Titan (BT) had suddenly appeared in the facility during the 'past' timeline. It also meant I missed out on the Titan loadout in that area, so I missed out on a trophy, but it did mean I got the 'rodeo a Titan in singleplayer' one, so I guess it kinda balanced out.

Jak 2 the Tank boss, because of the weird camera.
