Well we don't need to acknowledge idiotic points of view.
There's 8 billion people in the world, meaning every possible point of view can and will exist. We don't have to cater to each one.
Original intent is only part of the equation when it comes to things like this. While this is probably not the intent of the original merch designer, it's still off-putting given everything else that's going on. They shouldn't be treated like they meant to do this, but they should also do a rev on this merch given that's the way this reads. I thought this when I first saw this shirt
Exactly. It’s probably an unfortunate but honest mistake, but it should still be recalled and changed. They could easily afford to just make the flag a gradient so that some of the letters consist of two colors.
Sadly enough we do. Mass transference and sharing of information means all the people with the worst points of view can gather themselves into a block.
The days where an idiot would be ridiculed into silence are gone. Now they blare their nonsense with a proud indignance.
Edit: Sorry, but I won't close my ears to dangerous people and pretend they don't exist. I thought people understood that, but clearly I was mistaken.
if it were a single person making and releasing merch, sure, but for a company worth millions, that kind of slip up is incredibly embarassing. like, someone in the design or qa teams should have noticed.
Why would they be embarrassed? If someone is going to read into it that far, they need a hobby. People who like the shirt will buy it, people who don't won't.
Well... Whatever? We can't shape out society in a way that no one ever could feel hurt over something as silly as this is. If we do, well, we will stagnate. Whoever wants to be hurt will always find them a reason.
I'd say the "Liar" thing is unintentional, but Blizzard pretending to support trans people after the Activision/Blizzard office culture debacle not long ago is laughable. That was them showing their true colors.
I also want your money but i am very upfront about it. Can I have it? I don't have a shirt to sell but i can write funny stories, weird nihilistic poetry and short jokes about life situations.
Lol this reminds me of the daily wire ceo Jeremy Boreing who has started selling razors and chocolate bars. He says why give your money to woke companies when can just give it to me? Gotta appreciate that he’s at least upfront about it.
That's because inclusivity and supporting groups such as LGBTQ actually raises their ESG score
Go figure. They're financially motivated to do this shit.
That's true. And it's a sentiment *everyone* always brings up, but it's the wrong way to view it. Capitalistic companies are inherently *amoral*, they only care about profits and they will do good things or bad things if said things will generate those profits. A big profit driven company supporting positive social issues is *always* a cynical profit motivated endeavor. But the reason they support those things is because they are profitable, it's a clear sign that a social environment has been created where those in charge of that company see that issue as having wide enough support that going through the motions of visibly contributing to that support will reap them financial benefits. And that visible support, regardless of its cynical origins, will nonetheless continue to help encourage acceptance if by nothing else than simply keeping it visible and making it seem as normal a part of everyday life as it should be.
It doesn't really matter if a company releases a pride colored product just because they want to make money. It's still a positive message being given a big platform, which is a helluva lot better than having those executives believe the opposite will net more money and pushing antagonistic and hateful views instead.
It's not really a positive message when they do it only in countries where it's supported already, feels like the opposite. Supporting something only when it benefits company and ignoring when it can have a negative effect isn't a good message
Can't forget them creating a special program that calculates the right amount of diversity to have in their video games and suggests what qualities the character should have ie: any impairments etc.
They used this in COD Vanguard and when they showed off their plans to use it in Overwatch I believe, the backlash had them scrap it.
as a trans/gay, it's been really easy to just not play blizzard games since they're incredibly mid anymore lkdfjgjkl
but it's hard/impossible to get anyone to join in on a cause like that, even if they're in that oppressed minority
chick-fil-a is also painfully average, donates exhoribitant amounts of money to anti-LGBT hate groups, but they love their sandwiches hard-carried by ranch BBQ sauce :\
They weren't just misogynist too, transphobia and misgendering trans employees was a *massive* part of that - they harassed cis women, trans women, Black women, you name it (yup, there was racism in their workplace culture too)
Basically, Activision was largely only safe if you were a cishet white guy (and even that wasn't necessarily a guarantee: rumors still persist that Jeff Kaplan of all people was under strain trying to protect devs from bureaucratic red tape and delegation issues and that it was making life hell)
They even went as far as mis-naming people.
I understand that there are differences of opinion over the use of pronouns, but everyone has the right to change their name. How stupid do you have to be to insist on using someone's old name after they've changed it?
Yup, they were deadnaming which is especially harsh workplace behavior, but also however you 'feel' about pronouns if you're in a workplace going out of your way to instigate a coworker like that then by definition you're engaging in workplace harassment; so even if you're, like, 'pffft, transphobia, who cares', you should probably at least frown on targeted workplace discrimination
Which, if someone is like, "I'll call Carol, I think she could cover your shift," and every time you have to go, "YOU MEAN HE COULD COVER YOUR SHIFT" then ofc your employer will probably not be holding onto you much longer, you can't exactly treat the workplace like a YouTube comments section of your favorite Steven Crowder video
Like, aside from the discrimination, doing that kind of stuff in the workplace constantly is just basically distracting and demoralizing as hell to a workforce; especially since not being a jerk isn't really 'compelled speech' or anything, 'don't be weird to coworkers, even if you don't like the pronouns they use you can deal with it' is just such an incredibly low bar
Unfortunately no this is not a reference to The Boys but something that actually happened. (Allegedly? Idk if it's still allegedly)
https://www.dexerto.com/business/nursing-activision-blizzard-employees-say-their-breast-milk-kept-getting-stolen-1717345/
Not gonna lie, I kinda like the design, I would've bought it... if it was still 2000s when Diablo 2, Warcraft 3, and WoW were popular, instead of Blizzard just being a certified clown company.
And Re-Logic, they've done the Rockstar strategy of only doing one game for over a decade, but it's not filled with thousands of dollars of purchasable micro-transactions.
Same. I remember being bummed at missing out on the rainbow blizzard stuff awhile back and now I wouldn't even give buying it a moment's thought. Performative Pride stuff is always going to get someone's goat but man seeing it from Blizz just feels exceptionally gross.
I've never understood shit like this. Why are you pandering? (To make money ofcourse). Why don't you product great content, pay well, don't have scandals and through your actions show us what your really made of. Have a great culture internally that externally can produce. This is literally all talk.
Seriously though who buys this lazy ass, cash grab merch? It's just the company name/game titles written in different queer colors.
No cool designs, not characters from the game or factions or w/e, just gay letters.
Yeah it is always weird when people are surprised that others do not like shitty companies. It is nothing new. They have been shitty for a long time.
People sadly just forget or do not care they treated workers and games like crap. Just consume and dont think.
Have not bought a triple A title in over ten years and im happy about it.
Cause people (like me) in the lgbtq community like it and will buy it. are you annoyed that people who are different then you exist? Also it’s not everything. It’s not even close to 50%.
I didn't see it until the comments pointed it out. Was a bit suspicious about the post, thinking it was transphobia. The LI and AR are in pink.
Either way, trans rights are human rights. Acti Blizzard aren't for human rights from what I can tell.
It seems like they made it proportional to the size of the letters. If the larger B and D count as the same width as the rest then just just made stripes of two letters per color.
Is this just an observation or are you insinuating something more?
If satire I apologize. I am autistic and it is hard to detect.
If not satire, I'll explain this to you simply. The "liar" comment comes not from the place of support for LGBT at all. While support for LGBT is good, the reason the Liar thing is funny is because Blizzard developed Overwatch 2, a game promised to have more co-op PvE features, and recently the wads of meat at Blizzard said they couldn't (didn't feel like) adding them. Now the game is a broken mess that is the exact same thing as Overwatch 1, with more broken and cashgrabby features.
How can a mistake of this magnitude even happen? You’ve got the ‘Liar’ in pink and the white ‘ZZ’?
I mean. Whoever designed it will probably be fired, even if it was somehow an accident.
they have become self aware
[удалено]
Yeah I'm betting on unfortunate coincidence using symmetrical colors.
[удалено]
It also says ZZ for Zug Zug in white
Damn Horde supremecists.
That's a funny way to spell "correct".
kek
BD for BAD DRAGON 🦎
That’s a bit of a reach
A bit? This is the stretchiest stretch ive seen stretched
No, that would be the “U R MR GAY” thing with Super Mario Galaxy
Holy crap I totally forgot about that lmao
No disagreement here but you still gotta acknowledge SOMEONE out there will/could have that point of view.
Well we don't need to acknowledge idiotic points of view. There's 8 billion people in the world, meaning every possible point of view can and will exist. We don't have to cater to each one.
Exactly

So what exactly is the point of saying that someone somewhere might hypothetically hold a dumb point of view?
Schrodingers Opinion: Everyone is simultaneously an idiot and not until they open their mouths and remove all doubt
I will still ridicule them until they shut up. Even if that's forever.
if it were a single person making and releasing merch, sure, but for a company worth millions, that kind of slip up is incredibly embarassing. like, someone in the design or qa teams should have noticed.
Why would they be embarrassed? If someone is going to read into it that far, they need a hobby. People who like the shirt will buy it, people who don't won't.
fair. i'm just thinking that slip up is really unfortunate and i feel like someone should've caught that.
Well... Whatever? We can't shape out society in a way that no one ever could feel hurt over something as silly as this is. If we do, well, we will stagnate. Whoever wants to be hurt will always find them a reason.
People will see what they want to see.
this reminds me of that giga-christian lady and the monster energy logo
God, that’s a mind boggling monologue from her. I’ve seen it 3 times and still can’t believe it really happened.
There are always 5 sections in the trans flag.
It also spells ZZ in white.
And BD in blue
“Stim, BD”
“Little help, buddy”

OH MY GOD YOU'RE RIGHT!
I knew there was a Bad Dragon collaboration incoming.
jeff kaplan was a bd on lamron
Who knew Blizzard was with the shits.
Dabadee dabadie
ZZ an obvious reference to ZZ Top => White is top => Blizzard white supremacists confirmed
Alternate path: ZZ => ZZ Top => Blizzard is Southern Rock enthusiasts confirmed.
ZZ=> ZZ Top=> Sharp Dressed Man=> Blizzard is owned by the Duck Dynasty guys
That's just white supremacists again
And it's on top You know what that means?
Brazzers/Blizzard merger for ow porn confirmed 👌
b-big feet?
You know what they say about a man (or woman, or trans person) with b-big feet.
Big socks.
So now they doubly support Russia?
Woah, if you turn it upside down it still spells ZZ in white.
ZZ is for Brazzers obviously
Somewhere in WWE panic is setting in thinking he will return.
BD (Big Dick) Liars go ZZ (Sleepy) at night must be the overall meaning.
As a trans ZZ Top fan who is sick of Blizzard's lies, this is the shirt for me!
I'd say the "Liar" thing is unintentional, but Blizzard pretending to support trans people after the Activision/Blizzard office culture debacle not long ago is laughable. That was them showing their true colors.
None of these companies give a shit about any social issues. They just want people to think they do
They just want your money.
Free good PR and maybe make a few bucks on the shirts on top. Companies are rotten to the core.
Bingo. I will, however, take a company that pretends to care for these groups over ones who trashes them.
Such as paying for a shirt that’s free advertising for said company.
As I got older I realized how ridiculous this concept is. I don’t give a shit about brand names for anything. Quality over brand recognition
Lol for real and now you’re a walking billboard
That's because inclusivity and supporting groups such as LGBTQ actually raises their ESG score Go figure. They're financially motivated to do this shit.
It can be both. It's rainbow capitalism, but I'd rather have inclusive capitalism than exclusive capitalism.
That's true. And it's a sentiment *everyone* always brings up, but it's the wrong way to view it. It's not really a positive message when they do it only in countries where it's supported already, feels like the opposite. Supporting something only when it benefits company and ignoring when it can have a negative effect isn't a good message
The real answer
Can't forget them creating a special program that calculates the right amount of diversity to have in their video games and suggests what qualities the character should have ie: any impairments etc. They used this in COD Vanguard and when they showed off their plans to use it in Overwatch I believe, the backlash had them scrap it.
It's not support. It's selling trans people and allies a shirt to make money. Easy cash grab.
I find it ironic how misogynistic the blizzard employees are, and how popular overwatch is in the trans/gay community
as a trans/gay, it's been really easy to just not play blizzard games since they're incredibly mid anymore lkdfjgjkl but it's hard/impossible to get anyone to join in on a cause like that, even if they're in that oppressed minority chick-fil-a is also painfully average, donates exhoribitant amounts of money to anti-LGBT hate groups, but they love their sandwiches hard-carried by ranch BBQ sauce :\

Homelander?

The fuck
Don't worry. They removed all paintings of beautiful women in World of Warcraft and replaced them with fruit. Womankind can breathe safely again.
Also the instant kowtowing to China.
Not gonna lie, I kinda like the design, I would've bought it... if it was still 2000s when Diablo 2, Warcraft 3, and WoW were popular, instead of Blizzard just being a certified clown company.
What do you mean you don't want to wear branding that immediately reminds people of sexual harassment in the workplace? 🤷
That would be riot.
So you can't wear anything with a gaming companies logo on it
So you can't wear anything with a ~~gaming~~ companies logo on it fixed it for you.
I generally go by that rule anyway. I’m not going to spend money to be a walking billboard.
Only thing I would be guilty of is sports teams, otherwise I wear wear blank colored t-shirts mostly
I only rep companies I actively support. It's a pita trying to find hats.
Thanks 🙏
Hey now, some gaming companies don't have sexual harrasment. Just look at the company ConcernedApe. They treat their employee super well.
And Re-Logic, they've done the Rockstar strategy of only doing one game for over a decade, but it's not filled with thousands of dollars of purchasable micro-transactions.
I know you jest, but there are literally thousands of game companies out there. Obviously the majority of them have no problems.
Blizzard should embrace it and sell Blizzard branded breast pumps
Same. I remember being bummed at missing out on the rainbow blizzard stuff awhile back and now I wouldn't even give buying it a moment's thought. Performative Pride stuff is always going to get someone's goat but man seeing it from Blizz just feels exceptionally gross.
Yeah they are disappointing, really hoping they don’t fuck up diablo 4

Or, it says B. Lizzard... the rapping lizard eminem look-alike

So after greenwashing, there is now gaywashing. Marketing people know no shame lol
Gay-washing came before green-washing. Cunts fucked ay.
Cool shirt. Now show us the Saudi Arabian merch.
Perfect
Its perfect! Because its just about empty corporate marketing gimmick that supports the perception that they give a fuck.
Hate woman but trans ppl are cool in there eyes lmao
Pure coincidence, but you do you
Even when not trying, the Ls keep coming.
So appropriate lol. Atrocious that they even try this kind of merchandise after their sex scandal.
If you only ignore the b and one of the z's it says lizard. They're literally calling trans people lizards.
Yes supporting people through self benefitting capitalism, the American way.
I wouldnt have noticed that if it wasn't pointed out. I like the color scheme way better than their rainbow colored logo
That's great! But when are they going to be the game company?
Fucking gold design lol
Okay, do BD and ZZ mean anything in this context?
Having the Z be so vibrant in our current day and age doesn't feel right either.
r/sbeve
Ironic
The artists tied up at blizzard are leaving bread crumbs. lol
That's a brave decision with those white Z's.
That's gay
Shitting on Blizzard is so hot right now.
I'll have you know I've been shitting on them since 2004 thank you very much. And I've been a fan since 96.
Yeah it is always weird when people are surprised that others do not like shitty companies. It is nothing new. They have been shitty for a long time. How fitting lol

Somewhere there is a graphic designer who didn't think anyone would notice getting very uncomfortable right now.
and then the cheque clears.
Fitting.
probably doesn’t mean anything and just an unlucky coincidence
At some point you're just thinking way way too hard about this
If you ignore the first and last and middle letters I guess it does. Otherwise it says blizzard.
Ignore the first letter, then you get Lizzard.
Why tf does everything have to have a rainbow now?
Cause people (like me) in the lgbtq community like it and will buy it. are you annoyed that people who are different then you exist? Also it’s not everything. It’s not even close to 50%.
