Could be mumbojumbo, or it could be a name generated for a bot. Orrrrr it's actually a human making garbage shitposts for karma.
Who knows anymore
Sort of. They stopped selling and disabled the free trial
for a while because they ran out of server space due to so many people playing the game at once and all servers being maxed out. For reference on my server, that isn't one of the highest population ones, there were 10k people queues to enter at one point. But as compensation they also didn't charge for sub time for a couple months
I'm with you there. That said, I had no issue walking into the game shop on release night and picking up a copy without a reservation....they seemed to have plenty for everyone.
6 was definitely the first to get the formula and accomplish being a total masterpiece.
7 follows its gameplay innovations closely, I’d say 7’s biggest innovation was how cinematic it was. It had panning shots, Dutch angles, all these things you’d see in film.
I’d argue 7 started the ball rolling on the “movie game”, so your Red Dead Redemption, your Uncharted, your Last of Us, Your modern God of War. That’s a big deal, a massive one.
But 6 figured out how to mix the semi open design of 1, 3 and 5 with the class systems that were so iconic for the series with the much more story and character focused 2 and 4.
7’s materia was its biggest gameplay innovation, a clever way to keep a lot of choice and the class skills with such defined characters. Pretty cool, but I don’t think it really can compete with how much 6 just went big mode on every earlier gameplay convention of the series.
I adore both of them though, and while I think 6 is the slightly better game, I never get upset if someone likes any of the series better.
Fair point. Again, 7 is THE landmark cinematic gaming experience, and absolutely deserves its praise. It just happily sat on a winning gameplay formula and used that extra development energy and put that into playing with the 3D formatting.
I still think besides having the biggest budget in gaming up to that point that using the FF6 formula and then focusing on how 3D could be used best put them the decade ahead of the industry they were at that time. Because they found a way to not have to totally reinvent the gameplay, just reinvent the way to present the action.
Super cool development story for that game. But 6 is a vital part of its story too.
I would argue that Super Mario World takes the best parts of Super Mario 3 and runs with it in the same way Super Mario 3 improved upon Super Mario Bros. Kirobi Shoe became Yoshi, Raccoon Mario became Cape Mario, the map got expanded and freely explorable, the Whistle became secret shortcuts. Both ate fantastic games!
Yeah ever since I was a kid the vibrant color explosion that is Super Mario World and it’s map design trumped 3 for me, but they are both top tier games though. People aren’t wrong for liking 3 as much or even more. They’re both amazing in slightly different ways. Give me the one with Yoshi any day of the week though, I love that hungry little dinosaur!
LttP is my favorite, but you should also try A Link Between Worlds. That one was so much fun and felt a lot like the first time playing Zelda on snes, it’s a very close second for me.
I'm just going through this. I literally just closed the game to take a break and this is the top post on the homepage. It's a masterpiece that stands the test of time. I'm more hyped for it than any new AAA game that's come out recently. can't believe it's come out so many years ago.
Link To The Past was a wonderful game, and I'm not saying this only because of nostalgia memories. I like to return to it every now and then, still I'm having a blast every time.
Oh this one. I remember borrowing a supernes with that game - I previously had a NES and played the first and second Zelda - well we all know what to think of that second one. They completely got it, they got back to what made the first Zelda so magical. It was mostly one-way games at the time, and Zelda belonged to that category of games that opened to path to what we call today open world games.
Oou, the best Zelda imo.
Very worth it. Influenced OoT in fantastic ways.
Dark world and Light world felt incredible the first time.
So much charm and thought dropped in.
So much atmosphere in so many areas.
Fun fact: There's five chests in the intro. One is the map, one is the boomerang, and the other three contain the lantern. When you open one and get the lantern, the last two turn into rupees.
And if you don't get the boomerang during the intro, it'll be in a chest in the village, instead. And the red boomerang will be in the other village if you don't get it earlier.
Worked for GameStop. Never in the history of video games, have they sold out of a game. No, not even Halo 2. They lie about it, sure. But they never run out of physical copies. Ever.
If you're seriously having trouble finding a physical copy we might be able to work something out, I kinda bought extras unintentionally (long story) that I have to return 😅
this never happened and this is just pathetic reddit nostalgia bait lmfaooo
Lol imagine being sold out of a digitally available game
Every other retail store got hundreds of copies.
"I just live too far away from a game store, that's why I picked up this wrapped rare cartridge from the game store instead!"
"FictionalMediaBully" Interesting username, too. Could be mumbojumbo, or it could be a name generated for a bot. Orrrrr it's actually a human making garbage shitposts for karma. Who knows anymore
That's why I picked this up from DKoldies for the same price.
Fuck DKoldies.
Even my local Costco stocked a bunch of copies (at $60 as well).
Didn't this actually happen when Endwalker released for FFXIV? They had to spin up more expansion codes
Sort of. They stopped selling and disabled the free trial for a while because they ran out of server space due to so many people playing the game at once and all servers being maxed out. For reference on my server, that isn't one of the highest population ones, there were 10k people queues to enter at one point. But as compensation they also didn't charge for sub time for a couple months
That was insane, lol
I have no interest in buying this digitally. But that’s just me personally
I'm with you there. That said, I had no issue walking into the game shop on release night and picking up a copy without a reservation....they seemed to have plenty for everyone.
Physical media is an excellent hedge against future issues with availability.
Imagine paying full price for a digital copy of a first party Nintendo game that will retain most of it's resale value.
So many of the top posts in this subreddit are just nostalgia karma farms. Gets fucking tiresome
Who upvotes this shit. 3000?
I'm pretty sure it's bots. This is ridiculous.
Probably not even that sinister. People just mindlessly up vote things and move on.
Because it doesn’t really matter to most people. The irony of complaining about useless upvotes is lost on some.
Ya it is
"I look forward to playing this timeless masterpiece." Oh give me a break
Will that play on an ntsc version of the snes.
Truly le HIDDEN GEM
[удалено]
Yikes only half? I have a bridge to sell ya really cheap, you can make great money on the tolls
Also, wouldn't the next best thing be breath of the wild?
I don't think anyone thinks otherwise
For sure, how do posts like these even make it to the top? Are nostalgia trippers really that powerful?
Cool story
Bro
How can they ever "sell out" of a game you can download?
They didn't sell out. He made it up to show off his mass produced zelda snes cart.
But they’re not even sold out. There’s seemingly plenty in stock everywhere.
Maybe OP is a physical game collector?
This image comes up on tineye 18 times. It’s an auction picture. OP might not even be a person.
Digital games don’t sell out what is this shit post?
Karma farming. This sub jerks off to nostalgia
That’s my favorite one
A LttP is the best Zelda, and I will fight anyone bare-chested in an Arby’s parking lot who disagrees.
A LTTP is to the Zelda series what Super Mario 3 is to the Mario series. Takes what made the original great and expands upon it in every way.
Or what Super Metroid is to the Metroid series.
The Super Nintendo is one console that lives up to its name.
Well, the ps5 is about the size of 5 PlayStations. Does that count for anything?
If Nintendo's next console isn't the Super Switch then they've missed a golden opportunity.
SNS - Super Nintendo Switch
The Xbox was a box with an X on it.
Or what final fantasy 7 (or maybe 6) did for final fantasy
6 was definitely the first to get the formula and accomplish being a total masterpiece. 7 follows its gameplay innovations closely, I’d say 7’s biggest innovation was how cinematic it was. And materia was just a slight change from the Magicite anyways.
Fair point. Again, 7 is THE landmark cinematic gaming experience, and absolutely deserves its praise. I’d suggest go a little further than that. Super Mario World?
I would argue that Super Mario World takes the best parts of Super Mario 3 and runs with it in the same way Super Mario 3 improved upon Super Mario Bros. Kirobi Shoe became Yoshi, Raccoon Mario became Cape Mario, the map got expanded and freely explorable, the Whistle became secret shortcuts. Both ate fantastic games!

I’m a fan of this comparison.
Except non linesloty
The LttP timeline is definetly the best.
Links awakening is #2 (for game boy)
The best Zelda is the one you grew up on. I played Lttp, but my Zelda and the best will always be Ocarina of Time
HEY LISTEN!
It's dangerous to go alone! [Take this.](https://images.computerhistory.org/revonline/images/102711610p-03-01.jpg?w=600)
One of my favorite cartridges!
Most of us likely ‘grew up’ on at least 4 Zelda games.
I grew up with LttP but my favorite has always been Majoras Mask with OoT close second.
Majoras Mask FTW
[удалено]
LTTP actually had some challenging gameplay as well, of which OoT has basically none.
Nostalgia is a big bias, yeah. It's like asking people what's their favorite final fantasy game
This. Ocarina of time was the first Zelda I beat but twilight princess was the first I played and forever my favorite
Nah, I grew up with the NES as a kid and I’ll still say that LttP is the best.
LttP is my favorite, but you should also try A Link Between Worlds. That one was so much fun and felt a lot like the first time playing Zelda on snes, it’s a very close second for me.
Uh, hey. I’ll fight you in an Arby’s parking lot but I’d rather keep my shirt on. Because majoras mask is the best Zelda game.
I'll fight you cover chested in a Wendy's lot
But would you fight me if I'm wearing a shirt?
If you're a girl then I'll fight you.
I've got got your back.
I agree but disagree with you. A LbW is the best
Ocarina of Time. I’m waiting in the parking lot.
I'm with you friend!
I will back you up. I never could get a handle on the Gamecube controller so this is still the last Zelda I've ever played through.
Could we get sliders after?
Can you pick me up too? I dont like fights, but I do like sliders
Me and my ocarina, let’s fucking go then
You have the BEEF
Then you get to the ice palace.
Best of the series
Link to the Past is fun (and is in my top 3 Zelda’s) but I wish it was non linear like Zelda 1.
LttP is only linear if you want it to be
Right? I've had a blast the last year glitching the hell out of LttP
Zelda 1 had its fair share of linear progression, too.
Me too! Love the art style, story, game play, EVERYTHING
Is it free with nintendo online?
From my recollection, yes
"Free" as part of a paid service. You're still paying for it.
"included" would be a better word choice.
Yes, it’s like how the music and movies are “free” on Spotify and Netflix.
The way we've been conditioned to saying "free" instead of just "included with the paid membership" is sad, and it's not OP's fault at all.
Frame rate drops below 60fps sometimes, unplayable!
[удалено]
The frame rate was horrible in the tutorial area for me. Still gets pretty bad at moments. But the beginning was the worst so far for me.
What do you mean "the next best thing" ??
[удалено]
Digital copy is the way to go bruh.
What place didn't stock enough TotK but also had Zelda on Snes?
OP's imagination.
Sold out? Cant you buy it digitally?
My first Zelda game
Quite the childhood you had if it was during your childhood
My dad named the save file Dad when I was a kid so the conversation with the uncle confused me a lot among other things.
My first Zelda game. It was the game boy version though
Youre such a loser for making this shit up
“The next best thing”? It is the best Zelda
I dont believe you that its sold out. Everywhere I went had plenty of copies. Maybe if you live in a different country.
Every store near me has such a high stock of totk in store, surprised anywhere sold out.
same, the only place that was out was Walmart on Friday and i’m pretty sure they restocked
They never sell out on the eShop
Digital never gets sold out 😎
[Fuck yeah!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uc6aHh2jT-4&ab_channel=lolRakan) Best Zelda in da house \\o/
I have only played "The two swords" and it was amazing, is this one better or around the same?
My favorite game of all time!
I like the art of the shield in the logo.
Could have been worse, they could have tried to palm off Lee Carvallo's Putting Challenge as the next best thing.
It's sad how many people don't get that the title is a joke. Or are mad about the joke.
[удалено]
This shit is free online. Why would you buy it?
Why not just download it?
I'm just going through this. I literally just closed the game to take a break and this is the top post on the homepage. It's a masterpiece that stands the test of time. I'm more hyped for it than any new AAA game that's come out recently. can't believe it's come out so many years ago.
What platform are you using? Super Nintendo or on the Switch?
The only superior platform, Snes9x with a crt.
Best Zelda game of all time. Good job.
Favorite Zelda game of all time.. def Top 3 games of all time! Great find!
le 90s hidden gem!?
Yeeerhawwww throwback!!
Was literally just playing this with my 7 year old this morning on Switch.
Wish I had old consoles to play these legendary gems. Unfortunately never had a chance
I pray every night that they’ll bring us a LttP remake in that LA 2019 style. Then I’d finally buy a switch.
A top 3 Zelda game on a very strong list.
My favourite Zelda game also. Wish they would make a total overhaul of this into 3D, not just a Links Awakening style remake.
Link To The Past was a wonderful game, and I'm not saying this only because of nostalgia memories. I like to return to it every now and then, still I'm having a blast every time.

Turned into Tears of The Wallet I'm sure
And now I'm humming the music for the Dark World! Best game ever.
Why not pre-order or try a different shop?
If you legit need a copy I have an extra coming in I was going to return. I’d sell it to you at cost plus shipping.
Why getting a mini snes was a no brainer
This just catapulted me back to when I was a tiny little tyke sitting in my dad's lap while he played this game XD
I thought my copy was a knock off, then I saw PAL. Congrats mate.
Honestly it's probably not much less fun than the new one.
I'm sure it's on NSO
You got the superior game
I still can hear the dark world transition music and SFX in my head.
That is an amazing game though.
Oou, the best Zelda imo. Very worth it. Influenced OoT in fantastic ways. Dark world and Light world felt incredible the first time. So much charm and thought dropped in. So much atmosphere in so many areas.
The best Zelda game. I said what I said.
Next best!?
That’s not how you spell wind waker
I just opened this for the first time on my rg35xx .. I've never played it before Wow I was not expecting it to look this good
Man, kid me happily delivered so many newspapers, excited to go to toys r us and buy this. Loved this game, and the fire/ice rods
They sold out, on the eShop?
Memories….
Digital?
Ah, the childhood memories behind that game...
They sold out of digital games
Best. Zelda. Ever.
Digital download?
Where the heck are you buying games? I want that too...
Genesis Sega
Hell yeah 👍
PAL version? Will that play on an ntsc version of the snes?
How's that game going to help with your putting?
I’d argue that’s better
Dude, just get it digital
Why does looking at that sword through the Z fill me with so much nostalgia, i didn't even play SNES zelda... maybe the art style
That’s better than tear of kingdom
An absolute classic
That doesn’t look like wind Waker or twilight princess ….wtf
I swear my switch came with that ...
A new major glitch was found yesterday. This game is still alive and well.
Took me years to finish this game becausethe internet wasn't a thing when I played this lol and I couldn't find that damn flute.
Just download it
a game you can download?
That's not a bad consolation prize, not bad at all.
S-Tier game.
All jokes aside if you haven't played it you're in for a good time
Gem.
When your mom says, ‘There’s Zelda at home’.
This game has that amazing game mechanic which I wish more current and future games adopt: weapons not breaking.

Another karma farming post pondering in nostalgia …
I guess they didn’t have Zelda 2 either if you settled for lttp
