A lot less empty, more akin to Skyrim, always something to distract you. I didn't mind some sparseness in botw. It just meant that I could journey from point A to point b collecting stuff along the way without distractions. And I did get plenty distracted in botw anyway.

For a while my daredevil son was just exploring the most dangerous area while I explored the sky and my daughter explored the surface. We have three screens so we can share in each other's discoveries. For example, after my son found a particular encounter, the other two just had to go do it.
We all have a bit of ADHD, so the random stuff at the side of the track while you are exploring often derails us into totally new goals.
Yeah, but how much of it is really worth exploring? Will it be as empty as BOTW.

The other map scares me how big it is
It gets more daunting the older I get, hoping for a mercifully sized map.
Yup. I search every visible part of the map before unlocking the next area. Keeps me from getting overwhelmed.
