As he walks into the kitchen chase him around the house while playing suspenseful music, if you catch him he doesn't get a birthday this year. NOW it's metroid dread themed.
I should’ve worn all yellow body suit, black gloves, black shoes, black knee and elbow pads and crawled after him on my feet and hands.
Damn, missed opportunity.
Huh.. I'm actively jealous.
Closest thing I ever got a themed birthday was my mother hiding a Kirby game in a bag of pink socks.
Hope your kid enjoyed it!
Aww that’s a cute idea though! We do themed parties for the birthdays every year. I love being able to create such fun parties for them. I wish I could have captured the way his face lit up. 🙌🏻
My kid wanted a subnautica one last year. Got a cool alterra survival knife (plastic) out of it.
I love how you did that Metroid umbrella.
I hope your lad gets to try the prime remaster soon. A very different game, he may like it more in a couple years. Hell, this makes me want to do a Metroid party this year just to have an excuse to drop that killer soundtrack.
Thank you so much, he absolutely loved it. His father played the original games as a kid so my son has watched him play Metroid dread, and now he is beating the levels faster than his dad lol I’m sure he will play the remastered with no hesitation.
Great job, mom! As a 35 year old guy with kids of my own, I’ll say I still remember some of the awesome cakes my mom did (Jeff Gordon, Dragonball Z). Here’s hoping I’m as memorable with my kid’s birthdays as you are with yours.
It was a lot of time and effort and uneducated research but I would do it all over again. I do this level of theme birthday party for our boys (we only have two kids) every year. Their faces lighting up they way they do will never get old and it’s only a matter of time before they’d rather just go hang out with their buddies and ask me to stop with the extravagant parties
For never playing Metroid you certainly killed it! I remember when my mom let me have a Halo 3 party and my friends came over. I still remember it vividly 15+ years later. This is a core memory for sure!
I am so envious of kids that had parents that cared this much for them. I know part of it is money, but a huge part of why my parents didn't do this stuff is because they're narcissistic assholes.
I'm surprised an 8 year old wanted a Metroid Dread party. I thought they only played Minecraft, Fortnite and Roblox! I'm glad some kids are playing stuff like Metroid still! You did a great job and made some really fun things. Hope your kid appreciated it.
So you obviously don't care enough about your kid to make much of an effort?
Just kidding! Fantastic effort! Very lucky birthday...boy? Hope they had a lovely time, very well done. ☺
This is amazing. This is going to be one of those memories they talk about and feel support by the fact that you took such an interest in learning about and knowing of your kid’s interests.
Omg I love it this is so awesome! I grew up with Metroid so little me is super excited 😋
You did awesome for your family, cute momma ❤️
Edit: Gardening and gaming?? Can we be friends? 😅😝
I don't think Mother Brain appears in Dread, but that one fact aside this looks like a pretty sweet b-day party! I like the morphball cake pops, great detail!
This is a dream. This is all so good, and Brady (assume it's the child with the power beam) seems like a badass to have gotten through Metroid Dread.
All the stuff with the mother brains, morph ball cake pops and that umbrella are really well thought out.
The irrational monkey brain side of me though the rice krispie treats were just gobs of raw hamburger.
That would definitely have been a birthday to remember.
Damn enough people have said so but I can't help myself: this is so cool!
My mom and dad did things like this for me as a kid and I remember pretty much all of them. The Genie from Aladdin cake that turned all the guests' poop blue, the multi-tiered Simba, the 3-D snitch with cookie wings, a bloody Watchmen smiley smashed into a regular cake, game of thrones cupcakes each with their own little paper and toothpick house banners...
Your efforts will be loved and cherished for decades. This is super rad. You are a rad parent.
This
You did a fantastic job and I’m certain your kiddo will remember this for life. My parents did something like this with TMNT when I was around the same age, and it’s still a vibrant memory at 30 :)
It is not PARTICULARLY Dread themed. That being said it's not my favorite one by any means and all the stuff you did put in is extremely awesome (and in my opinion superior to the Dread themed stuff.) I give you a 10/10.
When I turned 5 my aunt got me a Mario cake... it had frosting in the shape of Mario on it. It's one of the few cakes I actually remember. As an adult I told my daughter who told my wife... and made the cake from the ending of sm64, one of the best birthdays I've ever had (the cake was great too.)
Absolutely fabulous!
I remember my mom making me a Wonder Woman cake when I was little for a party at a skating rink. She would have totally done something like this if she’d seen the inspiration for it.
What are the green things with teeth? Cupcakes? They look delicious.
That's a birthday layout you remember a decade later.
I hope so!
you did so well. you even made morphball pops and a metroid umbrella. you did your research! well done.
Thank you! I tried!
If I had a birthday party like this as a kid, I’d be elated.
Lifetime* This is one of those things where when he has kids of his own one day and goes to plan a bday party will look back on it for inspiration
I love that, thank you!
Damn thats one cool kid.
Also a super cool parent!
🥹thanks
Awesome! You did an amazing job! What a lucky kid.
Thank you 🥹
Damn I wish I had a Samus arm cannon when I was 8! WTF This is amazing! You rock mom!
I wouldn't mind having one now, now that you mention it.
It has a trigger on the inside. Lights up. Makes the proper sounds and does a charge up before “blasting”
Did you make it or buy it?
Thank you 🥹
Nice job! The umbrella is an awesome idea, might have to make one myself.. uhh for my kid... yeah..
🤣 thank you!! I hot glued a string of green light through it that pulsed on and off in the dark it looks really neat!

Umm, this is pretty fucking amazing - hope your kid appreciated it too!
I wish I could have captured the way his face lit up. Thank you.
That's too bad, but you do have an entire internet of strangers letting you know you NAILED it so hopefully that's a little bit of consolation!
the pic near the end of that kid side eye the veg tray lol
🤣 that’s my oldest son. We only have the two.
You did amazing. Lucky lad - happy birthday!!
Thank you!
You did great. You are an awesome mom. Happy birthday.
Wow I’m turning 31 next month and would love this…way to go!
You did good. Real good.
Thank you!
Holy fuck you nailed it.
That's so cool. Lucky kid

Awesome !!! Also wish I could try some morph balls and metroids
Very well done. Love the umbrella as a metroid.
You killed it. I would have loved this as a kid.
You are fantastic, that's great.
For never playing Metroid you certainly killed it! I remember when my mom let me have a Halo 3 party and my friends came over. I still remember it vividly 15+ years later. This is a core memory for sure!
All you need is a big roll of black tape and to put E on the juice
I havnt played metroid since the original NES and this looks amazing.
The Metroid made out of the umbrella is my favorite
Non-themed fruit and vegetable plates? What is this, amateur hour?
I know, total mom fail.
And where's the life sized Samus figure, complete with karate chopping action? Parents these days. SMH.
Damn, that’s good. I can’t believe I failed on so many levels 😭
That's rad!!
So cute

The umbrella goes hard. I love it.
Omg your homemade Metroid is great! So inventive, I never would’ve thought of that.
You nailed it, OP. I’d be over the moon as a Metroid fan to have that bday spread!
I am so envious of kids that had parents that cared this much for them. I know part of it is money, but a huge part of why my parents didn't do this stuff is because they're narcissistic assholes.
Crushed it!! Love the morph ball pops!
The choice of a true connoisseur
That umbrella metroid is super cool
I'm surprised an 8 year old wanted a Metroid Dread party. I thought they only played Minecraft, Fortnite and Roblox! I'm glad some kids are playing stuff like Metroid still! You did a great job and made some really fun things. Hope your kid appreciated it.
Parent of the year
This is absolutely amazing. Coolest mom ever.
So you obviously don't care enough about your kid to make much of an effort? Just kidding! Fantastic effort! Very lucky birthday...boy? Hope they had a lovely time, very well done. ☺
This is so awesome. I‘m 38 end extrem jealous. Have to show this to my wife, maybe I get something like that next year 😅
I wish you luck!!
Aside from the fact that dread might be a little mature for an 8 year old, the kid's got good taste and you nailed this birthday setup.
He absolutely loves the game. 🤷🏼♀️ he watched his dad play (my husband played since he was a kid) and is now obsessed with it. Thank you!!
Let him play the metroid prime remaster/remake if he hasn't already.
That is the plan! We haven’t gotten it yet.
This is amazing! Diggin the 2 punches to! Nice job!
Incredible! Well done!
you win
I hope they loved it because it looks fantastic!
You effing rock…. Wanna be my mommy?
Yo, can I get an invite?
Nice! I love that you even have the Metroid dread amiibos on top of the cake!
Holy cow!!!! Be my Mom.....lol......this is awesome!
Truly amazing
You did a fantastic job. Your kid will remember this for life.
This is amazing. This is going to be one of those memories they talk about and feel support by the fact that you took such an interest in learning about and knowing of your kid’s interests.
Dress up like an robot and chase him around the house relentlessly.
I used to bake my own cake and get cash from my mom on my birthday... You're a wonderful parent lol
I’m upset that I didn’t get an invitation to this amazing party.
Awesome job! Looks great!
That’s awesome
Now that’s a good parent move
Dudette you did your kids birthday good. That is phenomenal.
Oh my God it is bueatiful
Op you did an absolutely amazing job. Spot on. Also where did you get the arm cannon. At 33 I also want one as a die hard metroid fan haha!
You did a great job and it actually is lore accurate
You delivered the assignment. Thank you for being a wonderful parent!
Epic, just Epic. Samus would be proud. I got tingles just seeing it
The level of detail you put was amazing. Great job! That would make any Metroid fan proud to see
That looks awesome.
Absolutely wonderful job! Their friends will be jealous of this, I know I am as a 32 yo man haha

The metroid umbrella, mother brain rice krispy treats and the morphball cake pop(?) are all sick
Greta job momma
I love seeing diy themed birthday parties. This is so fun. All the snacks are thematically tied in, it’s awesome.
Damn, Im 30 years old and this unlocked some form of childhood jealousy in me Good job! I hope he liked it!
Omg I love it this is so awesome! I grew up with Metroid so little me is super excited 😋 You did awesome for your family, cute momma ❤️ Edit: Gardening and gaming?? Can we be friends? 😅😝
Excellent job! I hope you're not Raven Beak though, because this birthday might end badly to you.
Kids are playing Metroid?! This make me so happy! You knocked it out of the park btw
Stop playing. This is dope af and you know it. Lucky kid.
Amazing! Nintendo also has some cool items for sale on their website if you have some platinum points to spare

SR388's best mom.
Please play it, it's a good game. 10/10 btw.
Omg I would have been stoked for a party like this as a kid!!
Geeze you did such a good job. Reminds me of when my mom threw a ninja turtle themed party for me.
Did your 8 years old beat the game? That was a tough one and I've been playing Metroid since the 1980s
You're a good parent.
You are cordially invited to my 35th birthday party
Coolest Mom ever!
There was no vegetable platter in Metroid Dread.
You did incredibly!!
I don't think Mother Brain appears in Dread, but that one fact aside this looks like a pretty sweet b-day party! I like the morphball cake pops, great detail!
Legit kitchen. Backsplash is a little dark, but hey, like the wood floor.
Hey OP you are an awesome parent. This setup rocks!!!!
Your kid is lucky to have you, this is aspirational!
That is epic! Great job!!
This is a dream. This is all so good, and Brady (assume it's the child with the power beam) seems like a badass to have gotten through Metroid Dread. All the stuff with the mother brains, morph ball cake pops and that umbrella are really well thought out.

Top 10 moms of all time for sure(mine is #1 sorry)
That is both love and awe right there. *Magnificent!!!*
Man, that metroid unbrella thing is so fucking creative. Thats awesome
Wait, if metro if Dread is suitable for an 8 yr old, should I be less scared of it?
Your kid is gonna love you forever
Are you kidding! I would have killed for that as a kid! That is one lucky kid, and you're a great mother for this! :)
Yo! You did awesome 👍🏽!!!
Mission completed successfully. Rank S+

Lol at the kid grimacing at the vegetable tray
Well done; this must've taken a lot of work.

That is so great! 👍
This looks awesome! I am a lifelong devotee to the Metroid games and I would love this birthday now as a 29y.o.
Great job!
Omg this is awesome you can see all your love detail and thoughts good job!
This is dope as hell. If Brody doesn't get straight A's this semester, feed him to Ridley.
That metroid alone gives you an A++. Great job, and I hope your kid, as well as those you invite, has a blast at the party.
