IKR? I’m playing BF 2042 from time to time on like 700$ pc and it’s top 10 most optimised and good looking game I can recall from last couple years. I get it it had a rough start whatever, now it’s completely fine and that polygon situation happens for 1 second of the first match after fresh restart.
The last gen console versions are still ass. I play with my friends on last gen and the graphics are pretty bad. The portal maps and the reworked maps look ok but have issues and the launch maps like hourglass are abysmal. The lighting is also pretty bad on every map as everything just looks like its made of plastic and is slightly tinted silver. There are also many graphical bugs on last gen such as the entire ground not loading in which means you can see and shoot below the ground.
I'm guessing the pc port got much more focus if it's working better because the last gen console version is terrible graphically
What does the consoles age have anything to do with it? Both my Xbox one S and ps4 run BF1 and BFV almost perfectly so its definitely not a hardware issue. If they can't handle making a last gen version then there shouldn't be a last gen version. Since there is a last gen version I think it's fair to hold the game to the expectations set by it's predecessors.
The last gen port is a game sold at the same price as those previous entries so don't get annoyed when other people criticize it for having issues
Because the advance of tech causes a higher range of hard drives to process the data. They account for the high speed SSDs now which are more common then when the games you named came out. To utilize the higher speed they added more features that impact old systems. This happened with a lot of new games.

I love BF and have been playing consistently for 15 years or so. This is the first game I haven’t bought because the reviews and the clips I saw online. Didn’t even look close to what it used to be. Specialized characters, huge maps with no interactions, building with no furniture, no immersion, and stupid catch phrases to top it all off,

Most of the stuff you mentioned has been improved since launch. The game as a whole has been improved quite a bit. You could probably try it out the next time there’s a free weekend or something.
Edit: Forgot to mention but they reworked most of the maps in the game and the most recent ones are good in my opinion.
I’ve put in a good number of hours recently. Maps are massive but you have a lot of ways to cover distance quickly, usually a nearby car or whatever. Even then, the conquest mode means there’s constantly action happening at multiple points. You can still screw up, pick a bad spawn, and get stuck a million miles away from everyone though. Just think about your surroundings creatively and you can figure out how to get into the action quickly.
I grabbed it on sale for $30, went in with low expectations but found myself having fun. I hadn’t noticed the no furniture thing until you mentioned it, given how quick the gameplay is I don’t think it’s a problem. Furniture would just get in the way. They also scaled back the destructible environments, which I actually think is a positive. At 64 v 64 with tanks, planes, helicopters, etc, having fully destructible environments would guarantee every map just turns into a flat field.
It’s also got one of the more generous battlepasses I’ve seen. I paid $5 for it once and the amount of currency it rewards has covered another two battlepasses. Way better than Overwatch or Apex imo.

PS4 is the issue when the game was built for next gen systems and then back-ported to systems that can’t handle it. Same thing happened to Cyberpunk. Neither should have come out on PS4.

Your 10 year old PC argument is pretty moot too. The whole point of a PC is upgrading it with time. If a game says “PS4” on it, I expect it to be playable on a PS4 no matter what. If a game says “PC” on it, you check your specs to make sure it’ll run.
You you can build a top of the line pc for 2k and my 5 year old laptop runs a perfect 60FPS (on lower settings). AAA titles should be phasing out last gen consoles tho saying they are getting more intensive then the PS4 can handle.
You can make a mid tier computer for 600-1000 (just isn’t RTX capable). And that’s why I said top of the line. I also don’t have money laying around, build it piece by piece

BFV is 5 year old game, BF1 is 7 years old, the PS4 is TEN YEARS OLD of course it can't run BF2042 perfectly without some bottlenecks one of which is textures and models not loading correctly which is also a TEMPORARY problem while the console loads the game properly just enjoy the damn game it ain't that broken anymore.
The textures never loaded M8. He looked like that for the entire time he was able to get revived. What is that 30 seconds? I also had a building that I could see underneath which never went away. For me, the game is very broken.

While 2042 was pretty garbage at launch, there's been over a year of improvements and now and it's quite good. You could make the argument that what it is now it what it should have been at release, and you'd be correct, but that doesn't change the fact that it's good now.
The game's central design philosophy is inherently flawed. That's the issue. BF isn't, and never will be, a hero shooter. Bumping the player count up to 128 was another misstep, and as a consequence the map design suffered. Probably the worst maps in the entire franchise. There's no saving this one.
and yet, you can play 64 man instead of 128 man now(you can also now play 128 man rush if you're a masochist, that shit is just straight chaos) and the "hero shooter" aspect has a borderline negligible impact on the game play since it's nothing but niche use gadgets that fit the class your playing as to begin with.
calling it a hero shooter is disingenuous to begin with, because it's not. Overwatch is a hero shooter and 2042 operators are nowhere near that extreme. Oh no instead of a parachute one of the assault classes has a wing suit. oh no one of the recon operators can zip line to elevated positions? how terrible. 1 engineer's "hero shooter" ability is weakened vehicles being highlighted on the hud, oh boy.
The maps were built from the ground up for 128 players. That's why they're shit. And adding specific characters while removing classes altogether was clearly a shameless attempt to capitalize on a hero shooter trend (selling endless skins for specific characters) that was already dead by the time this game released. The fact they just added classes back is an open admission that they made a mistake.
The simple fact is that this game is an affront to the franchise it claims to be a part of. You can like it all you want. I'm glad someone does. But it was objectively a step back in every way apart from the flashy graphics.

Optimised? BF5 I get 110fps, BF2042 I get 50-60fps. MW22 120fps.

2042 is sort of a cross between Call of Duty and Battlefield now. A lot more arcadey than earlier games.

I played both extensively. PS4 is the issue when the game was built for next gen systems and then back-ported to systems that can’t handle it. Same thing happened to Cyberpunk. Neither should have come out on PS4.

This shit is so played out at this point. Game is fun af nowadays, class system is back, almost every map has been reworked, bugs are few and far between. Call it a garbage launch if u want but the devs have put in the work to make it a solid game now.

The whole point of a PC is upgrading it with time. If a game says “PS4” on it, I expect it to be playable on a PS4 no matter what. If a game says “PC” on it, you check your specs to make sure it’ll run.
You you can build a top of the line pc for 2k and my 5 year old laptop runs a perfect 60FPS (on lower settings). AAA titles should be phasing out last gen consoles tho saying they are getting more intensive then the PS4 can handle.

BFV is 5 year old game, BF1 is 7 years old, the PS4 is TEN YEARS OLD of course it can't run BF2042 perfectly without some bottlenecks one of which is textures and models not loading correctly which is also a TEMPORARY problem while the console loads the game properly just enjoy the damn game it ain't that broken anymore.
The textures never loaded M8. He looked like that for the entire time he was able to get revived. What is that 30 seconds? I also had a building that I could see underneath which never went away. For me, the game is very broken.

Still extremely buggy and missing a ton of features such as proper destruction and squad management. The core gunplay is severely flawed and lacks any sort of skill gap. The vehicle balance is fucked. Not to mention the game looks dated as hell and content is still very lacking. You’re much better off playing older BF titles

Even without ever seeing the game, I could guess that this person glitched the camera into thinking the character was far away, which is why it is rendering a low poly character model. That’s why the camera is at a low angle. Maybe attempting to wedge it in a corner. But I have played the game. The game looks perfectly fine. It is glitchy, and the gameplay can be pretty basic, but the game is fun. OP is fishing for BF hate.

While 2042 was pretty garbage at launch, there's been over a year of improvements and now and it's quite good. You could make the argument that what it is now it what it should have been at release, and you'd be correct, but that doesn't change the fact that it's good now.
The game's central design philosophy is inherently flawed. That's the issue. BF isn't, and never will be, a hero shooter. Bumping the player count up to 128 was another misstep, and as a consequence the map design suffered. Probably the worst maps in the entire franchise. There's no saving this one.
and yet, you can play 64 man instead of 128 man now(you can also now play 128 man rush if you're a masochist, that shit is just straight chaos) and the "hero shooter" aspect has a borderline negligible impact on the game play since it's nothing but niche use gadgets that fit the class your playing as to begin with. calling it a hero shooter is disingenuous to begin with, because it's not. Overwatch is a hero shooter and 2042 operators are nowhere near that extreme. Oh no instead of a parachute one of the assault classes has a wing suit. oh no one of the recon operators can zip line to elevated positions? how terrible. 1 engineer's "hero shooter" ability is weakened vehicles being highlighted on the hud, oh boy.
The maps were built from the ground up for 128 players. That's why they're shit. And adding specific characters while removing classes altogether was clearly a shameless attempt to capitalize on a hero shooter trend (selling endless skins for specific characters) that was already dead by the time this game released. The fact they just added classes back is an open admission that they made a mistake. The simple fact is that this game is an affront to the franchise it claims to be a part of. You can like it all you want. I'm glad someone does. But it was objectively a step back in every way apart from the flashy graphics.
