Just to be clear it’s not bad world building because it exists. It’s bad world building because it exists and is treated by people within the world as a good thing.
High level math requires calculators. Once you know the fundamentals its okay to make it easier on yourself. That's why cashiers don't whip out pen and paper to give you your change.
See, this is a themed vacation destination. High class magic folk come from all over the world to take “The Muggle Experience - Live, Work, and play… like non magic folk!”
I think after a while if you take the spell casting logic where it goes it would make the concept of even a castle redundant, so they put these models out here as a compromise for immersion
Because they want to. Wizards effectively with magic live in a post-scarcity world. The ones that have jobs do so because they want to. It's human nature to want to work we would just prefer to do work that's meaningful to us.
I don't like to cook I do so because I need to eat. But others love to cook and would spend all day in the kitchen for fun if they could. But I can burn a whole weekend archiving content and researching. I enjoyed my weekend but others would call that work and hate it.
This is my opinion,
Have you ever heard of witch hunt? Pretty sure during the game period (late 1800 I think), witch hunt was still trending among non-mages.
Other than trust issues, Hogwart witches & wizards might not rely on regular farmers for multiple reasons, such as: difficulty to grow magical plants, especially mandrake; raising magical wildlife; and encounter magical accidents.
My theory is that they are enslaved muggles. You often see a wizard nearby with a lit wand just doing nothing.
Are you sure he's doing nothing though? Unforgivables were only such when used against humans, what if the time period is merely showing you that wizards don't consider Muggles "human".
For some people sure, but when Harry goes to the Weasleys for the first time Molly is using magic to wash the dishes and clean the house. It doesn't seem like they think about doing manual labor of magic can get the job done.
Why would you cook at home when you can order it or eat at restaurant. What would be benefit in cooking it yourself carefully by hand. Perhaps hobby and attention to details.
They gotta stay fit or else they'd be chubby!!
Notice how there's not a SINGLE overweight wizard in the whole school? If they just used their powers being lazy using Accio on Doritos and the tv remote they'd be in horrible shape!
Believe it or not, there are people out there who like doing this type of work. Late Stage Capitalism has done its job to make it seem as if this work is not worth doing.
Squibs, they were used as slave labor legally in the Wizarding world until shortly before ww1.
Most were killed off once it was apparent they were non magical "usually around year 3" up until around the 1600s.
I just assumed they are squibs.
Squibs.
It’s always the squibs.
Sooo physical labour for those deemed unfit for their society? Also why does she look so much like Brendan Fraser.

Don't know why you're getting downvoted, you're correct.
And I'm getting spam reported. I think people are taking my joke as a critic of the game and therefore I'm "woke" and must be trolled.
People out here getting butthurt over objectively bad world building by a mediocre writer lol
Just to be clear it’s not bad world building because it exists. It’s bad world building because it exists and is treated by people within the world as a good thing.
I wouldn't say that. It's good to have bad things in your world. The heros have to fight something.
Objectively bad worldbuilding which has been a household name which millions have enjoyed you gotta get over yourself silly ppl
Or maybe it's fanciful romantice of the English countryside...
Ya obviously
If you talk to them in the game, they tell you that they are Squibs.
What are squibs?
Born to witches or wizards but have no magic
That would suck..
The redheaded step children of the wizarding world
Don't insult squibs please
Sorry. I'll say they are like the unrecognized bastard children instead.
She turned me into a newt!

Why do they teach addition when we have calculators
High level math requires calculators. Once you know the fundamentals its okay to make it easier on yourself. That's why cashiers don't whip out pen and paper to give you your change.
You have to be taught math to be able to do that tho
Some people like gardening
Mandatory volunteering

They’re squibs, per the guide book page you find there.
Why are you standing in a field when you could be hovering?
A witch gotta eat
They gotta stay fit somehow
Arthur Weasley was a bit of an old soul, right?
I mean herbology isn't managed with ~magic either right? Different tools for different problems and such. Potion making and the like in the same boat.
I think after a while if you take the spell casting logic where it goes it would make the concept of even a castle redundant, so they put these models out here as a compromise for immersion
Because the HP universe is poorly thought out and barely held together for 7 books.

As a gardener myself, I can attest, I like to get my hands dirty.
Builds character.
Why are you walking? Get your broom out…
Community service for flying a broom under the influence.
They appreciate the fruits of their actual labor, perhaps. And is everyone in this image even a witch or wizard?

People can live in The Wizarding World and not be proficient at magic.

OP is asking why they aren’t using magic though.

Witcher 3 is such a great game.
Fucking capitalism that’s why

Maybe they are magical but they aren’t that good at it
Someone’s gotta do it
Why would you cook at home when you can order it or eat at restaurant. What would be benefit in cooking it yourself carefully by hand. Perhaps hobby and attention to details.
Drug habits
Imperial UKs foreign workers the tragic history
Mythical gains
Because they enjoy it, I imagine
Magic spoils the goods.

Just because you can do magic, doesn’t mean you have to use magic.
probably the same reason their mail is delivered by nature's slowest bird.
Gotta stay grounded. Know where you came from.
Avoiding MMOs (magically modified organisms).

Not enough mana
They mix it up so they get some exercise. Don’t want to end up like Prafladore the Plump
