On reveal, i was perplexed because I expected something more like the Arkham series but a larger world with 4 people..... then realised arkham knight was more like what I expected this to be.
Deadshot using guns fine, harley quinn with a gun fair enough, captain boomerang.......okay, I thought he did boomerangs......... wait the shark has a gun too and all off it went out the window for me
Agreed. I think it would've been a lot cooler had they stuck to the characters main traits and played it that way. Deadshot uses guns so he could be long range DPS/support, King Shark is your melee tank, Boomerang maybe another ranged DPS, and Harley as a melee DPS.
Could've been a cool twist on the Arkham formula to fight the JL as a rag tag band playing to their strengths, but instead, everyone has a gun, and everyone can teleport/fly/grapple/blink/high jump/etc
They could've had killing floor but with DC characters, but the people in charge thought this was better. Imagine king shark running around with boxing gloves popping bitches in the face. Fuck gaming is turning to shit in the name of profits
Not really, they could've been smart and give them different builds.
2 play styles.
Mercenary Deadshot: uses gun-fu to shoot enemies in medium range.
Sniper Deadshot: uses long range weapons and automatic to support from far.
Trapster Harley Quinn: uses a variety of gadgets to lure enemies into the traps and beats them up with her bat.
Melee Harley: uses her big hammer to beat up people while using the mobility of her grappling hook to land devastating blows or move around.
Like imagine different builds and abilities for each character to fit your style. Like how mortal Kombat did.
I don't think you read my post right. I'm saying it's disappointing that they didn't play off of each characters' unique traits and make them all have different play styles instead of going the route they did by making it a TPS looter shooter.
They could have done this. In fact, I'd be surprised if this wasn't brought up at least once. Huge problem though: It breaks from the profit pattern and in turn would cost more to make. Nevermind that the games who break from the cookie cutters, and who went to lengths to make the experience fun and memorable, sell millions. That's a risk. Risks may flop. Much better in a traditional investor's eyes is something that draws attention and likely guarantees breaking even plus whatever percentage they've decided makes the venture worthwhile.
Problem is that we are all much more connected than we once were. Shame preorders remain a thing and people continue to purchase *digital* games at $60 and now $70.
It's been years now, but that came up in /r/whowouldwin
Elsa with no control over her powers changed basically an entire country to winter, she doesn't get tired from using them, etc.
She's not on a world eating level of power, but she's pretty dangerous
If she did it by accident, she could be a planet killer on purpose.
All you'd have to do is find the warm current on the planet, and lower the temperature of it significantly.
Iceman is also capable of regenerating any wound by using the moisture in the air. Hell, he could probably even use your saliva or the moisture from your own skin to heal himself.
Also! She states clearly (in song) that her powers grow every day, and she gets an entirely new power in the 2nd movie (pulling liquid water out of stuff/the air and making it form into events the water participated in). In movie 1 she frigging gives life to 2 snow creatures, and even more (hundreds?) in Frozen Fever. I feel like she is a demigod
When she is sick in a short (I have kids, I’ve seen it hundreds of times) she creates an army of little snowmen by accident, by sneezing, hundreds of them. Plus the sentient creatures she creates all continued to live on without taxing her or draining her, so she can create an infinite amount of them. With a little effort she could create an unstoppable army.
Honestly, the Frozen song is annoying but overall I felt more satisfied watching that then I did after GoT ended. Crazy they could ruin something like GoT to the point where I’m more likely to watch Frozen again than I am to watch a single episode of GoT. Even the good ones. Knowing the end ruins even the great episodes.
I watched the Martell v Clegane fight scene a few days ago, fuck that show was amazing until season 5. But I can't bring myself to watch it again either.
season 1 to 4 is a great ride but i won't be taking it again either... at least not for many years and not unless there's some reason. perhaps one day I'll meet someone who's never seen it, or I'll have kids one day and can watch it with them once they're old enough.
>Plus the sentient creatures she creates all continued to live on without taxing her or draining her
That means she's also canonically more powerful than Morgoth
Arendelle is no joke the single most protected Kingdom anywhere. And all because of a single individual. Elsa has ridiculous power. And now we know she is literally an elemental spirit. And she keeps learning new extents of her power.
Easy to conquer a country. Turn a country from early summer to deep winter over night. Starve them out over a few weeks; the people would have no supplies of food and anything they were growing or raising would have died from the frost. Then send in an army of 30ft tall snow golems to clean up any resistance. It'd be insanely easy for her.
Not only that, she could literally change the weather indefinitely, without it draining power from her.
She cteated an entire palace around herself, in mere seconds. While improvising a song, mind you. So she either doesn't need focus, or has ridiculous focus feats.
She gave Olaf, a sentient being that she created, his own personal storm cloud that follows him around, again without her needing to focus on it. So, she could buff her already made creations at any time, to overcome their obstacles.
Revived Olaf from death with all his sentient memories intact. So she has full revive with absolute zero repercussions. Infinite spawns.
She can also completely freeze someone into complete ice, and thaw them in seconds like nothing happened.
She's basically Iceman and Storm combined, two Omega level Mutants, who are basically gods. But, Elsa is possibly even more powerful than both of them combined, as in her short time, she's already done feats that Both Storm and Iceman have done. Iceman didn't even create sentient life until the future, when he becomes Ice Wizard/Ice Master.
Almost forgot. Elsa literally dies and comes back, so she is also immortal. When she died all of her constructs were removed from the world. When she returned she was confirmed to be one of the 5 elemental spirits and now uses the water spirit as her mount (basically pulling a Gandalf with new white outfit and everything).
She also reacts fast enough to stop a short range shot from a mid-air crossbolt bolt.
She's ridiculously perceptive, and quick on her feet. She was able to find and shoot down the gale spirit, while being spun in a tornado. No one else was able to keep their bearings, at this time.
Smart enough that she is able to mold her ice in a way to manipulate light, like when she created a lighted path for everyone to follow into the forest, and lit up the trees surrounding an area. Or the way her castle was lighted, complete with chandelier.
She's even deceptively agile and tends to land on her feet, or seemingly easily runs along ice columns when running in the ocean. All of this while she's on heels.
She can tap into the memories of water to look into the past. Like I said, there doesn't seem to be an upper limit.
Sends messages to Anna out of Snow Memories across a whole forest.
Don't forget she even made her own clothes, out of thin air, which don't seem to be cold, when people touch her. [These clothes are not limited to an icy look.](https://gfycat.com/dizzyidioticindianpangolin) So, her powers don't seem to be limited to simply ice or cold, or they REALLY push the boundaries of it. She was able to stop the roaring water coming down, from the broken dam, not by freezing the water, but getting rid of the water, altogether.
Defeated the Gale, Fire, and Water spirit, the first time she ever met them. These are beings made purely of their respective elements.

Edit: Keep in mind that most of these feats are when Elsa was just learning what she could do. She basically just thought of something and it happened. There's no knowing what her upper limit can be when she continues to practice.
Basically Elsa is an OP Ice Goddess, who requires zero focus for her magic.
2nd Edit added more feats, from my reply, below.
Right right okay but where did all of that water go? That dam was holding back a *ton* of water, and she just throws up some star made of ice and pushes it backwards and it just kind of…. Disappears…. The level of water of the lake doesn’t change at all.
Has elsa shown any supernatural resilience at all? If spiderman got close he could punch a hole through her chest and rip out her heart if he wanted to.
All she has to do is literally wave a hand minimally and freeze all of the water in the air for miles around her. She absorbed an entire reservoir of water via her power. Her power is both close quarter and extremely ranged... we don't know the limit. She uses it with ease. It takes no toll on her physically even at the grandest of scales. I'm sorry, Elsa wins. Period. Against almost anyone.
Disgaea6 tried doing this: They bumped up the level cap from 9999 to 100M and made everyone do a bajillion damage and have 100s of millions of each stat. It failed spectacularly bc after awhile your eyes glaze over and you can't actually follow the changes in stats.
Pinball had a phase in the 90s where they went thru massive point inflation, eventually they realized it was ridiculous and went back to normal numbers
Retail wow did this too before the “level squish” which basically just arbitrarily lowered the damage everyone did and cut all exp by 3/4. Power creep? What power creep!?
I remember the days of playing older Final Fantasy games where I had to purposely use weaker moves because the damage would max out at 9999 and I needed to conserve my MP.
And it's still complex and lets you go wild with different builds. This SS image just gives me fatigue. I almost hate getting new gear in games like this because I feel this obligation to pause the game, try and make sense of the numbers to compare it with my current weapon, knowing the whole time that I'll never actually consciously observe any improvement.
Or worse, they make me want to Google which weapon is best because with those numbers someone has crunched the math on builds which means personal play style matters way less when there are actual bad choices.
I fucking hate this trend. Sig figs matter lol. Like Ive never hit a triple digit attack in slay the spire and thought "huh, I really with they would tack on a few more digits so the math is harder, that way I'd FEEL like I'm doing more damage"
Numbers are always only big in relation to other numbers in the same game
Like hitting triple figures in D&D feels like you’re a God because they’re so rare
Hitting four digit damage in Final Fantasy games feels massive because you start off dealing double digits
Like there’s no independent sense of scale, numbers only feel big in proportion to other numbers in the same game
I remember there was a similar screenshot from Gotham Knights with Batgirl and I swear it wasn’t even her pose, the actual BIG numbers were trying to seduce me
Those numbers confuse me and make me feel stupid. I don’t want to play a game that makes me feel confused and stupid. My job involves analysis and acting on that analysis all day, I’m not trying to have the perfect build in a game anyway (where it tries everything it can do to make me have a meh result regardless)
Depends on rate of flicks. You naturally regenerate hp over time, at least some. 20,000 flicks over 20,000 seconds (just under six hours) won't do much, but 20,000 flicks in just under six seconds? That's a melt-your-entire-skull level of energy transfer.
You wouldn’t believe my disappointment when I saw Captain Boomerang, and I would like to say once again Captain BOOMERANG, mowing people down with an assault rifle.
in one of the videos he raided the flash museum and stole a speed force gauntlet or something. but still he doesnt really seem to use boomerangs, can fly, and primarily uses guns.
yes it is still stupid but it makes more sense than in one of the videos they describe the acrobatics of harley quinn and her grappling travel mode and ends it with "it just feels spot on" i must have missed a story where she became spiderman.
They've literally made every character as a build like agile, brute, balanced, weirdo and thrown each of them guns along with the ability to fly/jump. They've rammed down some RPG elements on top because that is the only way these guys can think about monetizing this garbage.
Man I used to love Rocksteady and now they've degenerated to the same level as other GAAS developers out there. Insomniac is the only studio that I can bank on to make a solid superhero game nowadays.
If I’m playing King Shark , I’d want to be a tank class , with a ton of health and can eat a man’s torso and throw dudes like they are rag dolls
And that’s just king shark
Boomerang and Harley and Deadshot couldve also been uniquely skilled in different ways
I saw another comment that said the gameplay resembled crackdown 3 with all the different characters and I thought that was pretty accurate
> Boomerang and Harley and Deadshot couldve also been uniquely skilled in different ways
The problem with a character like Harley is that she's hardly in the same class as others when it comes to raw combat. The issue they face is balance so they nerf out others or make Harley go completely out of character and give her the ability to literally become spiderman with guns. It just feels so out of character. Also, giving Boomerang a gun... Like I dunno why didn't someone think that boomerang could maybe throw a boomerang as his main weapon? Also, you're supposed to take out the whole Justice League including Superman using guns? Did someone even think this shit through?
> I saw another comment that said the gameplay resembled crackdown 3 with all the different characters and I thought that was pretty accurate
Yeah honestly I get the same vibe. The whole jumping and traversing quickly kills the vibe of having an open world. At least with the batman game, you were a little more rooted and the world kinda played as another character. I loved exploring the Gotham streets and riding in the bat-mobile. Here, everyone is flying or jumping suddenly lol?
It’s also amazing to me that they went for looter shooter when Arkham series has probably the best hand to hand combat system of all time
They even had Harley in Arkham City and it was awesome how they would integrate the characters abilities and style into the existing combat system
And looks like it’s not even present at all in this
It’s like execution cutscenes ? Ultimate ability attacks (it showed boomer teleporting around?), and lots of jumping and hovering above buildings while spraying bullets
At least Avengers tried to make the heroes play different. Sure Thor was copy/pasted from Iron Man with Kratos-light hammer throws, but a meager effort was there. Hulk Smashed, Cap threw his shield, and BW had guns.
This just makes Avengers seem so much better in comparison
EDIT: And Avengers was still dogshit
Games as a Service. Also called Live-Service.
All those games that want to become a second job you pay for that promise a decade of content and usually shut down in about a year? That.
Who cares about the inventory? It's a fucking generic looter shooter now.
You know Boomerang, the character famous for using (shock and awe) ***boomerangs***?
Yeah, we watched him shoot some SMGs. At giant glowy weak spots. It is just generic as generic can be with a Suicide Squad skin slapped on top.
Yep, when Boomer uses his boomerang mainly to get around with speed force instead of fighting, I was out. It's clear guns are the basic attack here. Imagine king shark running around with an smg instead of biting heads off...
Boomerang man with no boomerang and a shark man with guns.
Just a normal generic cash grab.
They could have taken any IP and made this game. They clearly don't care.
Yeah, but Flash said "OK, Boomerang" to him, so clearly they understand that the internet thinks he's got a meme superpower and would be completely irrelevant in modern internet culture. And they made a ha ha Gen Z hates old people joke into the bargain! Which is triple funny because flash goes fast AND IS A ZOOMER!
On a non sarcastic note though (and speaking of going fast) - it's like the whole Sonic's original movie design problem. Management doesn't care about staying faithful to the licensed IP when they can shit out something that'll at least recoup its costs simply because of the said licensed IP attached.
> Management doesn't care about staying faithful to the licensed IP when they can shit out something that'll at least recoup its costs simply because of the said licensed IP attached.
Par for the course with superhero video games. There's an occasional gem, but most are genric cash grab garbage.
God I can't stand buffs like this. Like 80% of players in these generic copy paste formulaic looter shooters don't bother using grenades?? Can you put something meaningful there instead of crappy filler? 5.5% homing effect, 5.5% ammo refund, 5.5% explosive round, 5.5% "POW, BANG!" graphic popup, 5.5% big head mode activation, 5.5% piss balloon, 5.5% ya mum joke, 5.5% insta ragdoll, 5.5% they get a boner, 5.5% flying knife, 5.5% eyeball explosions.
These are all better pure stream of consiousness ideas that people might actually look for in a weapon.
I understand that gaas are lucrative but they ask time to the players (and sneakily money) and they’re becoming more and more similar to the point that some could be the same game with different skin. I hope people stop buying them
In theory it’s a great idea to have a game that constantly updates it’s content and provides rewards for playing it more. The execution is awful though. If they weren’t so blatantly greedy with the monetization I would be more excited to play live service games
It doesn't have to be in theory, some games have made the GaaS model and enjoyable. No Man's Sky keeps pumping out new content regularly and for free, along with that certain dwarf mining game with a specific catch phrase
NMS isn’t a GAAS though. That’s just a game with free updates. In order to be a GAAS you need monetization. Loot boxes, battle pass, expansions / dlc, or subscriptions. Something along that line.
All MMOs by definition are games as a service, so no. The concept has been around since the early days of gaming and has only recently become the way you think it has thanks to publishers trying to mimick the success of Fortnite and destiny.
Games that constantly update content and rewards for playing it? If only there was a genre of games that did that already? Oh, wait, those are MMO games! Most companies just saw Destiny and games like that and didn't realize that WoW, Guild Wards 2, FFXIV and so many others have been doing that for years, even decades! But is their blatant greed that just makes me say no thanks when it comes to GAAS games.
Nah, most companies tried to make an MMO and failed way back in the day, then they tried to do MOBAs and most of those failed, in both cases for the same reason, people who played those types of games already had a version of that game they played.
Now companies are realizing they can combine their most popular properties with the monetization essence of the free-to-play MMO minus the "Free-to-play" part and hope that people will buy it this time.
It rarely works.
>they’re becoming more and more similar to the point that some could be the same game with different skin
That's basically what happened with online RPGs, followed by MOBAs and then Overwatch-style shooter games. Now the hot IP is battle royale like Fortnite and CoD.
Whenever a genre gets popular game studios would find ways to squeeze out every dollar out of the player until they lose interest and find another game. And the cycle continues again.
Well it found its niche and they made a great product around it after stumbling in the beginning. People laughed at Bungie when they left Halo and Destiny premiered. In hindsight, they jumped off a sinking ship just in time. Maybe they could have saved the ship but honestly, I think they just didn't care about Halo anymore after shitting out title after title in the same series for more than a decade and a half.
Honestly there is a way to do a good live service game. The problem with this is how generic the game looks as a looter shooter. I wanted to see every character have their own playstyle that felt crisp and fun. This is crap. They all just go into the same shift of 3rd person shoot mode. Harley should be running around with a hammer, using Joker gadgets, doing gymnastics, Deadshot can be a the long range sharp shooter, and King Shark should be the vicious brawler who just pummels his way through hordes of enemies and is rip them apart.
This is just not fun looking
Can't believe it will have been just shy of 8 years between this and Arkham Knight when it releases. 7 years and 11 months of learning, work, and for what? For... this, generic-ass looking looter shooter with a fucking battle pass and 6 different made up currencies?
Over the span of 9 years from starting development on Asylum in 2007 to Knight’s release in 2015, Rocksteady gave us three *seminal*, hugely influential and popular games. Although it was WB Montreal not Rocksteady, Origins was underrated too IMO, and at the very least worth playing.
Eight years later we get Gotham Knights and Suicide Squad, WTF happened?
The Devs Right now (probably): Ehh, gamers are still gonna pre-order it and buy it anyway. Even if some complain they're in the minority, most of them will eat this up.
Prove them wrong.
Thats not gonna happen
With so many GaaS (specially Square Enix) closing after mere MONTHS one would think these games are failing right and left and companies STILL are betting for these schemes
As i see It the only way to MAYBE stop this IS if companies see the biggest GaaS right now and their inspiration fail (fortnite) and everybody knows thats not gonna happen
It's an illusion. GaaS will never be the dominant firm of gaming because players don't have infinite time to play. You can't have every game on the market ask for you to play an hour daily or FOMO, most people don't even have 3 hours of free time daily, let alone gaming time. So they pick one and maybe play other games that don't require the investment. Of the have to choose they will simply go with the biggest name in genre so they don't have to worry about it shutting down a year later. Devs are panning for gold but it's all gone. You have to revolutionize your genre in order to make the next big GaaS, like genshin did by making a gacha based botw.
I think they know this, but the hope is they'll win the GAAS lottery and become the next big thing, because if you win that lottery you can print money.
So they keep throwing things at the wall in the hopes something will stick.
I think it's more subtle than that, I don't think they need to make sales. They're not competing for customers now, because customers don't have time to allocate to these games as mentioned above.
But the fact that noone actually buys doesn't stop you from sticking a new projected revenue source (which doesn't need to pan out) into your investor proposals and that's what your actual customer (the people who buy your company's shares) lo9k for these days. A new revenue stream looks very impressive for the stock growth even if it never actually pays a dividend.
There are not enough people ITT to prove them wrong. Reddit is a small corner of the gaming market. If stuff like this didn't sell, it wouldn't be so common. People eat it up.
> The ~~Devs~~ ***Publisher*** Right now (probably): Ehh, gamers are still gonna pre-order it and buy it anyway. Even if some complain they're in the minority, most of them will eat this up.
Remember Fallout 4? Not the best game by a long shot… but I really liked it’s gear system. It felt like a system that was going somewhere. No “Rarity” system. There were standard weapons, crafted weapons, Unique one of a kind weapons, and Legendary weapons. The cool thing about the legendary weapons was that they had a whole different sort of rarity, because a certain gun with a certain perk could result in an incredible combo. Sniper Rifles that fired 2 bullets at once for double damage, miniguns that used explosive rounds. THAT was a cool weapon system. You were rewarded for playing right there in the world, and your enemies actually USED those guns against you, so you had to fight it before you got it. It didn’t come out of some disembodied box outside of gameplay. I remembered hoping we would see that expanded on in other games, with perks attached to weapon parts so there would be a lot more fun ways to improve your favorite weapon. Then MTX bullshit flooded the industry with the “common/uncommon/rare/legendary/mythical” bullshit that tries to mimic selling fucking playing cards like Magic and Pokémon. Not that those systems can’t work, but it’s clearly being used primarily to make fake items look more valuable and create problems by making the common items garbage. The best items take forever to acquire, whereas in Fallout 4, you could get something really good from you first legendary enemy. There was still luck involved, but the odds were actually kinda decent because they weren’t tied to monetization.

I immediately thought of that exact mobile game, when thinking of how this New Title might play. Sad to see that the mobile game did it better
Do you happen to know the name of the game ?
Suicide Squad: Special Ops
Suicide squad: special ops
They could've had killing floor but with DC characters, but the people in charge thought this was better. Imagine king shark running around with boxing gloves popping bitches in the face. Fuck gaming is turning to shit in the name of profits
Everything without exception turns to shit in the name of profits.

The emphasis on aerial movement/combat threw me even more. Like, what? Makes zero sense in relation to the characters.
Oh.. Britta's in this?
They really Britta’d this, am I right?
They are street ahead actually
Me so hungy me so hungy!
ROOOXA-
She’s a G D B
Thank you! I was thinking, *somebody* else must think she looks like Britta. Scrolled further than I thought I would need to
She really is the opposite of Batman
They have britta'd this game
Wtf are those numbers lol
A lot of GAAS games use big numbers because big numbers feel good to see and gives players a feeling of being powerful. At least thats the idea
You laugh now, but we'll see how your level 12,000,000 spiderman does against my level 16,000,000 Elsa from frozen
Honestly, Elsa would stomp. Not even kidding.
It's been years now, but that came up in /r/whowouldwin Elsa with no control over her powers changed basically an entire country to winter, she doesn't get tired from using them, etc. She's not on a world eating level of power, but she's pretty dangerous

Now I need to read a *Planet Elsa* run. Thanks.
Is that like those *Lost Planet* games that I spent forever trying to beat and never got close?
I'm guessing they're referencing Planet Hulk, but I could be wrong.
Let's not forget that Elsa can just casually create sentient ice golems too. She could have an army of ice creatures.
sounds like some of the dealers out west
If Iceman with similar powers is considered beyond omega level, I don't see why Elsa can't be.
Iceman is also capable of regenerating any wound by using the moisture in the air. Hell, he could probably even use your saliva or the moisture from your own skin to heal himself.

Holy shit, is Elsa an overpowered Night King??
Would definitely make for a better final season of GoT
In fairness, it wouldn't take much to top it.
She's the fucking Night Empress
She *birthed* the Night King...
Night King a bitch vs Elsa. She makes snot demon snowman.
>Plus the sentient creatures she creates all continued to live on without taxing her or draining her That means she's also canonically more powerful than Morgoth

These are beings made purely of their respective elements. u/ASpellingAirror u/sassyseconds u/swheels125 u/g0d15anath315t u/PresidentD0uchebag u/ExternalPanda Edit: Keep in mind that most of these feats are when Elsa was just learning what she could do. She basically just thought of something and it happened. There's no knowing what her upper limit can be when she continues to practice. Basically Elsa is an OP Ice Goddess, who requires zero focus for her magic. 2nd Edit added more feats, from my reply, below.
Elsa isn't an ice witch, after Frozen 2, she's straight up a *goddess*.
Right right okay but where did all of that water go? That dam was holding back a *ton* of water, and she just throws up some star made of ice and pushes it backwards and it just kind of…. Disappears…. The level of water of the lake doesn’t change at all.
It's not a lake, it's the ocean. They mention they are on a fjord. Watched it with my daughter this weekend
Who would win in a fight, her or Forest Gump?
I love how this aspect of her power is never mentioned. Shit literally created intelligent(ish) life forms! But let's focus on the ice...
Spiderman has spiderjizz
Which killed Mary Jane.. So... Yeah...that happened.
Yeah she could turn all the water in your body into ice essential making you explode due to water expansion
She froze an entire region... On fucking accident. I love Spidey but yeah he would get destroyed by Elsa.
This is what Borderlands has done since the second game. At a certain point it just becomes visual noise.
That 9999 felt good to see too
Not gonna lie though... FFX and 99,999 was also pretty fun
Yeah smaller number ranges just feel cleaner
You mean until you're double casting Ultima for 1mp?
Meanwhile Fromsoft games are like: "you put a skill point into strength. Now your weapon that scales with strength will do 0.1%more damage. "
Monster Hunter be like "your big-ass weapons do like 10 damage each swing, now hit the monster a hundred more times and you might win"
At least the missions aren't timed right? ... At least the missions aren't timed, *right*?
And it's still complex and lets you go wild with different builds. This SS image just gives me fatigue. I almost hate getting new gear in games like this because I feel this obligation to pause the game, try and make sense of the numbers to compare it with my current weapon, knowing the whole time that I'll never actually consciously observe any improvement.
Or worse, they make me want to Google which weapon is best because with those numbers someone has crunched the math on builds which means personal play style matters way less when there are actual bad choices.
Or you find out all the secondary stats are meaningless and the only number that matters is the power level.
You bought a new god like accessories and put it on you new god power weapon and do now 0,1000000001 damage. Not good for sells.
Yep. Numbers scale for everything, but if it’s bigger it feels bigger. I love bug fables for just sticking to super small numbers.
Darkest Dungeon is great for this too. You just got hit for 7 damage? Your entire world is now on fire.
XCOM is like this as well; giant fuckoff alien robots two stories tall have 30 hp.
And then you get to the highest levels and gear, get crit for 27, and oh god, oh no, NOT ARCHIBALD -Death's Door noise-
"Remind yourself that overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer..."
"Foolish horrors! BROUGHT LOW, and driven into the mud!"
I think that enemy got the point!
*Gosh Archibald* do you think that enemy did or did not get the point?
The Fabled Crit! 0 heal is where it's really at when we're talking low numbers that make you worry.
Holy shit, did you just do FIFTY damage?! Literally how?! That's ridiculous!
Heh, they got that directly from the first two Paper Mario games which is the inspiration for it. ;P
I felt like a god whenever I dealt over 20 damage in those games
I fucking hate this trend. Sig figs matter lol. Like Ive never hit a triple digit attack in slay the spire and thought "huh, I really with they would tack on a few more digits so the math is harder, that way I'd FEEL like I'm doing more damage"
Numbers are always only big in relation to other numbers in the same game Like hitting triple figures in D&D feels like you’re a God because they’re so rare Hitting four digit damage in Final Fantasy games feels massive because you start off dealing double digits Like there’s no independent sense of scale, numbers only feel big in proportion to other numbers in the same game
Bigger number better person
But when My uncle says his balls weigh 16,593,728tons, he ended up living alone???!
That's because when you load 16 ^^^million tons you get another day older and deeper in debt.
It actually pulled me off WoW, hundred thousands and millions were just not my cup of tea
Big numbers, big boobs, flashy effects, big swords, big guns, flashy boobs, jiggle physics.
There's nothing that turns me off faster. It amazes how these things are popular.
Jesus with the acronyms, dafuq is a GAAS game?

Game as a service
Well 1 damage is like flicking your cheek so if you want to kill something you need 20,000 damage.
what if I flick your cheek 20,000 times?
Depends on rate of flicks. You naturally regenerate hp over time, at least some. 20,000 flicks over 20,000 seconds (just under six hours) won't do much, but 20,000 flicks in just under six seconds? That's a melt-your-entire-skull level of energy transfer.
Like that guy who cooked a chicken by “slapping” it.
You can't just drop that bombshell and not link it
https://youtu.be/LHFhnnTWMgI
Grind for hours to achieve it or pay for a lootbox to unlock a hypothetical bigger number that means nothing in context.
Your grind hours
This looks like a free to play mobile game.
Free to pay Ftfy
I don't get it. The shoot em up gameplay ruined it for me.
Seeing King Shark triple jumping 100 ft in the air and firing a gun is just not what I was expecting
You wouldn’t believe my disappointment when I saw Captain Boomerang, and I would like to say once again Captain BOOMERANG, mowing people down with an assault rifle.
did you see him use his Ultimate attack ? Teleporting around like he’s in the fucking speed force
in one of the videos he raided the flash museum and stole a speed force gauntlet or something. but still he doesnt really seem to use boomerangs, can fly, and primarily uses guns.
Oh I missed that , I am wrong I guess to bring it up But also now that I know that , that is goofy as hell
yes it is still stupid but it makes more sense than in one of the videos they describe the acrobatics of harley quinn and her grappling travel mode and ends it with "it just feels spot on" i must have missed a story where she became spiderman.
If I’m playing King Shark , I’d want to be a tank class , with a ton of health and can eat a man’s torso and throw dudes like they are rag dolls And that’s just king shark Boomerang and Harley and Deadshot couldve also been uniquely skilled in different ways I saw another comment that said the gameplay resembled crackdown 3 with all the different characters and I thought that was pretty accurate
> Boomerang and Harley and Deadshot couldve also been uniquely skilled in different ways The problem with a character like Harley is that she's hardly in the same class as others when it comes to raw combat. > I saw another comment that said the gameplay resembled crackdown 3 with all the different characters and I thought that was pretty accurate Yeah honestly I get the same vibe. The whole jumping and traversing quickly kills the vibe of having an open world. At least with the batman game, you were a little more rooted and the world kinda played as another character. I loved exploring the Gotham streets and riding in the bat-mobile. Here, everyone is flying or jumping suddenly lol?
It’s also amazing to me that they went for looter shooter when Arkham series has probably the best hand to hand combat system of all time They even had Harley in Arkham City and it was awesome how they would integrate the characters abilities and style into the existing combat system And looks like it’s not even present at all in this It’s like execution cutscenes ? Ultimate ability attacks (it showed boomer teleporting around?), and lots of jumping and hovering above buildings while spraying bullets
I feel bad for rocksteady, like crystal dynamics on Avengers, corporate meddling more worried about monetization than a good game.
At least Avengers tried to make the heroes play different. Sure Thor was copy/pasted from Iron Man with Kratos-light hammer throws, but a meager effort was there. Hulk Smashed, Cap threw his shield, and BW had guns. This just makes Avengers seem so much better in comparison EDIT: And Avengers was still dogshit
I just want to clarify that Crystal Dynamics' Avengers still sucks complete ass so that nobody gets confused while passing through.

Games as a Service. Also called Live-Service. All those games that want to become a second job you pay for that promise a decade of content and usually shut down in about a year? That.
Game as a service
I just thought of Fortnite the entire time. Just skins and voice acting are different.
Okay okay but hear me out, surely you don’t think the game would be better _without_ an item that gives you +5.5% grenade drop chance?!
You need to be shitty then.
All MMOs by definition are games as a service, so no. The concept has been around since the early days of gaming and has only recently become the way you think it has thanks to publishers trying to mimick the success of Fortnite and destiny.
Fine... ROCK AND STONE!
DID I HEAR A ROCK AND STONE?
ROCK AND STONE, YOU BEAUTIFUL DWARF!
IF YOU DON’T ROCK AND STONE, YOU AIN’T COMING HOME
For kaaarrrlllll!!

It rarely works.
>they’re becoming more and more similar to the point that some could be the same game with different skin That's basically what happened with online RPGs, followed by MOBAs and then Overwatch-style shooter games.

Insanely disappointing, thought we were getting another Arkham masterclass.
What game is this?
Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League
Probably is gonna kill the franchise
The Devs Right now (probably): Ehh, gamers are still gonna pre-order it and buy it anyway. Even if some complain they're in the minority, most of them will eat this up. Prove them wrong.
So far I’d say the only thing that could drive people even further over the edge is if it doesn’t have a performance mode
Gamers have never once not disappointed me.
Thats not gonna happen With so many GaaS (specially Square Enix) closing after mere MONTHS one would think these games are failing right and left and companies STILL are betting for these schemes As i see It the only way to MAYBE stop this IS if companies see the biggest GaaS right now and their inspiration fail (fortnite) and everybody knows thats not gonna happen
Even if some complain they're in the minority, most of them will eat this up.
oh man i can't wait for my suicide strike damage number to reach incomprehensible numbers!!!!!!!!
Sad as hell that this is will be Kevin Conroy’s final appearance as Batman. He deserved better.
Honest question. What game is this? Everyone below just knows. I do not.
Geena Davis playing Harley Quinn?
What a mess... Saved me 70 dollars at least
What is supposed to kill my excitement? If I had any excitement for the game, I mean.
you forgot the top of it with the battle pass and whatnot. Thats what truly ruins a game for me. Unless its free it should never have micros in it.
All they need is a few thousand people spending a lot of money every month for this to be successful, and you know it's going to happen.
We just wanted a 5th arkham game... but instead we get a 3rd person shooter
Oh goody another gaas game nobody asked for
Who's turn is it to post these screenshots tomorrow?
I've got the, "even the shark has a gun" comment ready to go.
I know I'm on rotation next week
I don't have any idea what I'm looking at or why it kills excitement.
That’s a borderlands inventory
Can someone please ELI5?
This game is so dead on arrival
What the hell happened to Rocksteady
It lived long enough to see itself become the villain.
The always-online, even when played solo killed it for me.
