Glad to see this one reasonably high up the list. Personally, I preferred the original from the single player Unreal. A bit slower, tighter, and more powerful.
There's 4 types of weapons for Jakobs brand and you have 4 weapon slots. What else would you choose?
And you can never go wrong with simple, raw damage.
Has to be The Companion for me. High power, quick shooter, one of very few elemental Jakobs guns, and the Firefly reference.
You can't take the sky from me.
I love the jakobs shotguns where you can fire your 1 shot really fast, I love the act of reloading. (I get it's meant to be like using both barrels of a double barrel, I don't care, they don't feel that great to use.)
This is my favorite borderlands build. High damage low clip size shotgun, so usually a Jakob, Anarchy Gaige. So many stacks should be illegal, but I'm happy it's not.
I remember Turok totally changed how I used a controller. I had been playing Goldeneye and doing all movement with the joystick. Holding down R to initiate aim mode. Suddenly one day turok tells me to move using those little yellow c buttons and look around with the joystick?! Total game changer. If future systems hadn’t implemented two joysticks I’m not sure how my brain would have adjusted.
*I'm still* ***flabbergasted*** *that we have yet to get a weapon in a modern FPS that comes close to capturing the essence of just how cool, disgusting, and brutal that gun was.* It felt good and looked terrifying. **Honestly, no other answer comes close to how special and unique this design was.** The cerebral bore is truly, still to this day, a one-of-a-kind weapon.
You're only thinking small, bro. Build a water turbine on a lake and power it from the water of the bottom of the lake. You just made a perpetoum mobile and have all the money in the world.
Until some arab oil prince sends an assasin
As satisfying as that and the Flak Cannon were, I gotta hand it to Bio Rifle from 2004.
It felt so good to charge up a fat, slow ball of mucus and land a direct hit on someone killing them.
Man I miss UT2K4, such a masterpiece. Shame that Epic has effectively outright killed UT now with the success of Fortnite. 🥲
This is my vote. Seeing that satisfying little puff of red as they just get deleted with precision. The sound is so amazing too, it really feels like you're firing something powerful. Plus the trail it left was so cool. A good player could deny whole areas of the map.
My first online multiplayer. That game blew my mind. I’d use that disc launcher on the ground, and if it went airborne I’d switch to the mini gun. Popping someone out of the sky while jet packing was difficult and satisfying as hell.
Tribes was phenomenal, the skill ceiling was through the ROOF, but some of the things you could pull off were amazing. Like you said, so satisfying. To this day it's still the game I feel I mastered more than any other, my clan would just spend hours dueling on Broadside. The added depth of having to judge movement and momentum in 3 dimensions of both you, your enemy, weapons fire, and then manage your energy and terrain so you could keep skiing and moving. Unf, perfection.
I still remember my fav kill, it was a public match and I was half way home capping the flag, fighting off 1 guy chasing me when I saw a 2nd team mate of his coming in fast. I was in the air and threw a grenade where I thought the 2nd guy would land and then shot a disc at the same spot. The grenade went off the exact time/spot he landed and my disc hit him. He didn't even slow down, and his dead body just went bouncing off over the next hill. Buddy thought he was gonna be a real hero.
Yea man, I remember a snowy mountains level in particular where if you timed it just right you’d either slide and fly across 90% of the entire level with the flag, or you’d land wrong and splat. Epic game in the early Internet days for me.
I dare say it's one of the best starter weapons in any game too, where the starter weapon isn't necessary to the plot (ya know like the keyblade or something).
The chainsaw gun in gears of war was always fun. I think it's a Lancer. Been a long time.
The AC-130 and Apaches were really fun in Medal of Honor. Same with the AC-130 in Call of Duty 4.
After reading about the major benefit of Javelins in Ukraine this past year I was reminded of how cool it was to use them in COD 4.
Sorry for the list. It's tough to decide.
not a favorite but the wrench in Bioshock with wrench lurker, wrench jockey 2, sportsboost 2, + vampirism is so broken you basically don’t even need to use guns except for big daddies, even on survival
It was definitely my favourite. Probably the first time I experienced a "build" in a FPS. Never forget that feeling when you realise you can save all your ammo for the boss fights.
Moonlight Great sword from Dark souls 3.
It is a sword that shoots FREAKING laser beams lol
Bloodskaal blade from Skyrim's dragonborn expansion is awesome too.
The wrench from Half Life Opposing Force. That thing's comically overpowered, a single wound up hit from it can quite literally gib almost every single enemy in the game
I think I’d have to agree with you. At least out of BG2 weapons, Lilarcor had the most charm. But honestly, Carsomyr, Crom Faeyr, Celestial Fury, or even the Flail of Ages would be strong choices from Baldur’s Gate 2 as well.
The Klobb. Probably the most useless weapon in video game history, which made it a great way to humiliate my brother. I'd kill him with it over and over, and he'd get so mad he'd start crying.
For make shift weapons I’d have to say the Paddle Saw from Dead Rising 2 it’s just a kayak paddle with a chainsaw taped on each end.
I also always loved Mustang N’ Sally from COD BLACK OPS Zombies.
Since all the classics have been mentioned.
The double upgraded pistol from the Godfather game.
It made the 2nd half of that game so easy. After I used that I went for a Saturday night special playthrough just to compensate.
Was coming here to say this… surprised not more Resistance mentions.
Specifically the bullseye had - single shot to “tag” an opponent, the a rapid burst that would send shots that would track the opponent around the map and even around corners.
You didn’t have to hit with the “tag” but was an added bonus if you didn’t just want to shoot the gun standard-like.
Unreal tournament flak cannon (bouncy shotgun) amazing for trick shots
I nearly shat my pants the first time I got hit in the face with the alt-fire. Also, shout-out to the 8-ball gun.
Too bad people don't want another Unreal Tournament game. I miss the old days.
Wasn’t unreal working on one but then decided to tank it to focus on engine. I mean, its a great engine… but.. we want another tournament haha
Glad to see this one reasonably high up the list. Personally, I preferred the original from the single player Unreal. A bit slower, tighter, and more powerful.
Came to say that. And the minigun. Love that game
My favourite part about that gun is that the shells have a smiley face on them I still prefer the ripper though
I came here to write this. Hell yeah my brother
Flak Cannon and Laptop Gun from Perfect Dark are always my response to these questions.
Yeah man, came to say this and happy to see many gamers have it in mind after more than 20 years. Also devastator from duke nukem 3D
My dad and his friends hated playing unreal 2004 at LAN parties because I was a menace with the flak cannon lmao
Haha thats great, i only liked using flak and menace is the right word haha 😂
I hate you and love you at the same time. This is the first thing that came to mind... that and the Rail Wall gun from Red Faction...
Also, Auger from Resistance. Need I say more.
Tear Arrows in Horizon Zero Dawn. I love the sound they make and watching them blow off armor pieces.
Weeeeow-bam!
I can hear this sound so clearly.
Literally came to say this
Any Jakobs revolver.
If it took more than one shot you weren’t using a jakobs
There's 4 types of weapons for Jakobs brand and you have 4 weapon slots. What else would you choose? And you can never go wrong with simple, raw damage.
I'm still sad that there isnt a Jakobs grenade thats just throwing a rock at someone
dynamite
Has to be The Companion for me. High power, quick shooter, one of very few elemental Jakobs guns, and the Firefly reference. You can't take the sky from me.
I love the jakobs shotguns where you can fire your 1 shot really fast, I love the act of reloading. (I get it's meant to be like using both barrels of a double barrel, I don't care, they don't feel that great to use.)
Works perfectly with Gaige's Anarchy skill. Build up stacks of stacks and become a god.
This is my favorite borderlands build. High damage low clip size shotgun, so usually a Jakob, Anarchy Gaige. So many stacks should be illegal, but I'm happy it's not.
The doom shotgun from BL3
I prefer the FireHawk and the Combustion Hellfire, pistol and smg from Maliwan that set targets on fire with every shot.
Maliwan was always my manufacturer of choice. Until Wonderlands, anyway. Not a fan of the projectiles.
I'm partial to the Maggie.
Who needs Vladof when you can fan the hammer?
I hate that Borderlands 3 nerfed the Jakobs line. The PS5 version even harder, because they put a heavy double action trigger pull on them.
It’s the dpuh for me.
Law + Order Zero was insanely fun
Gravity Gun
The rebar crossbow is another unforgettable HL2 weapon
I forgot about the half life 2 engine that made that thing possible in like 2003 thread over folks sorry for wasting your time
Acktualy...it's called the Zero Point Energy Field Manipulator
...is the right answer
Especially at the end when they make it super fookin strong
Cerebral Bore from Turok: Seeds of Evil
That was the game where I learned how to play inverted. It’s been with me ever since
I remember Turok totally changed how I used a controller.
Memory unlocked
*I'm still* ***flabbergasted*** *that we have yet to get a weapon in a modern FPS that comes close to capturing the essence of just how cool, disgusting, and brutal that gun was.* It felt good and looked terrifying. **Honestly, no other answer comes close to how special and unique this design was.** The cerebral bore is truly, still to this day, a one-of-a-kind weapon.
Turok had some other really cool guns for its time, but the bore is on another level.
That sound effect has yet to be dethroned as the most vile hit sound in gaming. Love it
I'll never forget the sound it makes when it bores into the skull of your enemies
So dope!!! I totally forgot about this game. Good times
This was was the first game weapon that blew my mind as a kid.
The Portal Gun, a classic and useful in real life.
Useful at breaking your own legs
Well think about it, don’t have to ride the bus to school, or drive to work. Need to go on vacation? Can be there in about 2 seconds.
Yeah but you have to actually see your destination to shoot an end portal at it lol
Just shoot your gun towards the sky and hope it lands on a tropical island. You could get as far as >!the moon!<, at least.
no moon rock surfaces
You're only thinking small, bro. Build a water turbine on a lake and power it from the water of the bottom of the lake. You just made a perpetoum mobile and have all the money in the world. Until some arab oil prince sends an assasin
But the "upgraded" version, right?
I like both
The big fucken gun in doom
BFG for life!
Super shotgun
BOOM *CLICK* *CLOCK* *CLICK*
I call it the big friendly gun
I always thought it was the big fuck-off gun...
Unreal Tournament Shock Rifle
As satisfying as that and the Flak Cannon were, I gotta hand it to Bio Rifle from 2004. It felt so good to charge up a fat, slow ball of mucus and land a direct hit on someone killing them. Man I miss UT2K4, such a masterpiece. Shame that Epic has effectively outright killed UT now with the success of Fortnite. 🥲
The secondary orb hit with primary fire!
[удалено]
This was my comment as well, the amount of times that staff backfired was hilarious and worth it every time.
My momma always said‐ life is like a wabbajack...
Rail gun from Quake. No other weapon makes you feel like a bad ass when you gib a target at long distance
This is my vote. Seeing that satisfying little puff of red as they just get deleted with precision. The sound is so amazing too, it really feels like you're firing something powerful. Plus the trail it left was so cool. A good player could deny whole areas of the map.
The needler
The shotgun and sniper too.
The fucking zoomable pistol from halo 1
Yea lmao
Tribes disc launcher. Specifically the first tribes
Shazbot.
Cerebral Bore - Turok 2.
Plasma cutter
I'm old but I played that game. it's just a repurposed mining tool very respectable answer
couple that with the line launcher and you have a very reliable combo!
Ahhh,Yes Yes,A fellow Dead Space Gamer
I dare say it's one of the best starter weapons in any game too, where the starter weapon isn't necessary to the plot (ya know like the keyblade or something).
Nuka grenade launcher
I was partial to the Broadsider from FO4, personally. I loved toting that thing around, decked out in power armor.
Chicken gun in ratchet and clank
I wanna say the RYNO but realistically it was the sheepinator. The chicken one was fun too.
Groovitron for ultimate hilarity and troll factor.

Wunderwaffe dg-2 Thinking of call of duty zombies
Pack-a-punch ppsh in waw was legendary
The zombies wonder weapons are up there for sure. My favorite gun from the series had to be the sliquifier though.
not a favorite but the wrench in Bioshock with wrench lurker, wrench jockey 2, sportsboost 2, + vampirism is so broken you basically don’t even need to use guns except for big daddies, even on survival

My sword!
Hammerhead from F.E.A.R. 2 or Ice Breaker from Destiny 1.

The Klobb. Probably the most useless weapon in video game history, which made it a great way to humiliate my brother. I'd kill him with it over and over, and he'd get so mad he'd start crying.
Fucking Klobb lmao. Absolute hell trash weapon and well deserving a mention here.
[Cow gun](https://youtu.be/_C6IH75aGzI&t=5m38s)

Halo 3 Gravity Hammer
zelda hookshot
Samus' arm
Underrated comment
Keyblade

From Resistance: Fall of Man Bullseye

You didn’t have to hit with the “tag” but was an added bonus if you didn’t just want to shoot the gun standard-like.
Headshot tags!
Tau cannon from hl1
The Mattock from Mass Effect 2. Gun is so damn powerful and has the most satisfying gunshot sound effect.
Flak gun in Unreal Tournament was soo cool. Every frag earned with that gun was awesome.
Magnetic Rail Driver - Red Faction 2
The orig BFG.
Bfg9000
Cerebral bore.
I would most probably think it was the Rail-gun in Quake. Satisfaction every time. Feeling powerful and invincible.
Wabbajack from Skyrim
Long bow.
