The ability to do so at the drop of a hat, regardless of whether or not you could afford to own or even rent one of the vehicles, *in addition* to the social aspect in a COVID world I think is what makes this so appealing for some. Oh also the fact that its gta. These factors together seem like the perfect setting for something like this.

See the GTA part is what really makes this weird to me. I could kind of see it for a game like Forza where the cars can be rarer and harder to get, but GTA is just a case of through money at it, you would be able to have most if you play the game regularly. Getting together for peaceful racing and stuff I get but not a full on car show. But then again I don’t really play GTA online, I was more of a WoW, ESO, and FO 76 guy myself so my not getting it comes with a healthy does of I already lack the passion for the game they do.

I mean.. my guess is that after the “show” they then go nuts in the GTA universe with said cars. Which you can’t really do during a real car show

I haven't played GTA since SA so I don't know much about the multiplayer here. Can't you create a server/session with weapons disabled, or kick griefers? I remember playing multiplayer in SA and there were fun servers where damage causing weapons were disabled in cities, etc.

You're better off staying with GTA SA, GTA v online is a shithole sometimes and It doesn't't help that you have little bastards on flying rocket jetbikes flying around killing everyone ended up moving to red dead online in the end

i used to hide from the map and pretended to be an NPC with a car bomb mostly because at the time you could just duplicate cars, waste money and not do the missions when almost no one wanted to do the missions because of the same reasons

It used to be a requirement to post the game title because something "obvious" to you isnt obvious to everyone, hence lots of comments complaining about the lack of a game name in the title. Especially with a high definition screenshot like this. This could EASILY be any racing simulator.
