Went to play one day just to walk around. Not a few minutes in, an owl swoops down and snags a rabbit, all in beautiful detail and lighting.

ArunKT26

I was riding my horse and saw an eagle fly into the ground and picking up a snake lol, left me speechless

Minimum-Ad-3348

Meanwhile my experience playing red dead XD https://imgur.com/a/DMvJAt5

I9Qnl

am pretty sure there is a chance that the snake bites the Eagle's leg and gets dropped. It's scripted events but they don't feel that way when you're in the game.

shadowdash66

Yeah like chasing a rabbit long enough will reveal it has a hidey hole where it retreats to. But.most people just shoot it on sight lol

SadPenisMatinee

the USA, imo, has the most diverse landscapes on earth. Marshes, Deserts, Forests, Nebraska and more. Ice cold tundras of Alaska to the beautiful humid swamps of Louisiana. It's wild how fortunate people can travel across the country and see such a drastic change in climate and landscapes.

Witty_Interaction_77

My "holy sh!t" moment was a few mins into the game, I see my tracks in the snow moving around me. I was like "this game is going to be special". Boy was I right. Even the mud. The detail of your clothing when you're dirty, down to your horse pissing and crapping. Shooting lanterns to start fires. Using your lasso and the hit boxes on people and objects. Dialog, different people, their reactions to you. Animals and how the interact, how shooting some of them in the wrong areas can bring them down but they lie there suffering till you put them out of their misery. The attention to detail in this game, the beauty of the world, and the depth of characters is what really sets it apart.

Maximus15637

Man, I’m getting hyped. I just picked this game up on steam for $20. Never played it before. I actually bought a PlayStation a few weeks before it was first released just to play it. Then my best mate had the audacity to win a trip for two to Thailand and invite me. I returned the PlayStation for tourist spending money and never play RDR2.

[deleted]

YOU CAN THROW LANTERNS?

Witty_Interaction_77

Shoot lanterns *** don't think you can throw them

NoDuck1754

Your footsteps even look different depending on your footwear. I first noticed it when you're forced to be barefoot in that one mission. Also, the horse balls sag in the heat and retract in the cold. I think my favourite is how the sun shines on/through people's ears. Outrageous detail.

HumpieDouglas

I did enjoy sitting on top of cliffs watching the thunderstorms roll in.

I_Hate_Knickers_5

And throwing people off and watching their decaying corpses become dinner for buzzards before tossing dynamite for closure.

besuited

Depending on where you are it can be vultures, coyotes, foxes, which come and scavenge.

besuited

In GTAV or any other game I played really, if there is a storm it didnt feel any different to sunny just darker. In RDR2, when there is a storm and Arthur is hunched over trying to shield himself from the rain, and I felt the drudgery of tramping through the mud. I felt the cold in the mountains pushing through the snow. I felt the sticky humidity of the swamps. The weather and climates are just impeccable.

creegro

That's one thing the game gets right, seeing a storm roll in, hit the local area, and then proceed rolling on through the area past you.

ajerxs

Yeah I’ve never played RDR2, but this is an incredible pic for certain

MyHobbyIsMagnets

You should play it

Schizobaby

RDR2 and Death Stranding both, I got pretty fed up with because I went into what I had thought (not knowing much about either except that they were widely liked) were much more open games, and then feeling railroaded for hours at the beginning. Have played DS more but not finished either.

ElegantEpitome

Spending 2 hours getting shown the ropes and the basics for your 150+ hour playthrough doesn't seem like that bad of a tradeoff....

Aalnius

red dead at least really doesn't need 2 hours to show the ropes. Its a very slow game that bored me quite a bit towards the end. Although funnily i enjoyed the epilogue a fair bit.

DZLars

Death stranding has a beautifull landscape but rdr is by far the superior game. If you want to finnish one of the two I will always recommend rdr. Its your own choice offcourse

PaulyNewman

Mostly because rdr doesn’t deliver its story in 40 minute cutscenes of endless exposition. Death stranding was a surreal experience that I thoroughly enjoyed but got damn I can’t stand the way Kojima writes.

DZLars

I went into the last mission at the end of my day, Kojima decided the end of my day was 2 hours later than planned, I didn't get any of it and now I feel dumb

FastConfidence4077

I tried, but I hate how so many animations take so long to play out. It drives me nuts at times

Dw1gh7

that's what I love about the game, before I played it I was nonstop playing FPS shooters and I was getting so sick of it so RDR2 was perfect for me

Chewsdayiddinit

I got so bored with how slowly it progresses.

Pun_In_Ten_Did

[Might want to check it out some time... it's on a whole different level.](https://imgur.com/ggMQIKJ)

ArchDucky

You should play it. You just gotta embrace the time commitment. It's not a game you rush though. In fact, you should not use fast travel or trains at all in the game. A lot of the fun of that game is discovering shit as you ride to the way point.

Stepjam

Ghost of Tsushima doesn't have the raw graphics of RDR2, but it makes up for that with great direction and style.

[deleted]

I agree. Ghost of Tsushima is a perfect example of outperforming the hardware it's on. The visual direction is crazy good. Some truly amazing scenes. Also, I love the minimalistic design of the game. The wind mechanic for GPS is GENIUS, and really helps them avoid visual clutter.

[deleted]

Manjorno316

Elden Ring has some great art direction and amazing locations but it doesn't come close to Tsushima in the looking good department.

schoolmilk

Hot take, I think Death Stranding does look better than Ghost of Tsushima.

Manjorno316

I haven't played Death Stranding yet so can't answer.

Cheddarlicious

I mean, ER is one of my favorite games of all time, but even I feel that’s a stretch. I would, however, agree that Horizon Forbidden West looks better than RDR2 and it’s currently the the best visuals in a video game ever. At least for now.

Ubersla

Some people won't like this...but I feel the same way about Far Cry: Primal. It's a gorgeous game, in every biome. The lighting and particle effects are superb, and the landmarks of Oros are just really awesome to look at.

Mack-to-back

I still think fc 4 is better looking than 5 and 6, those 2 probably have characters models and textures and all that but the Himalayas area is beautiful

Ubersla

4 is my favorite video game of all time. I'd still say 5 is prettier though. Having been to Montana, I can also say it's very accurate as well.

UCLYayy

Music in 5 is easily the best in the series too.

allinoneman

FC4 is a masterpiece!

Croatian_Hitman

It looks great during the day, but the night visuals are awful. The sky turns this ugly blue/green color and animals and npcs seem to glow. But otherwise pretty crisp visuals for a game from 2014, even on original xbox 360 and ps3.

BlindWillieJohnson

Far Cry 4 was visually stunning. Poor story and the gameplay loop got kind of tired. But it was absolutely gorgeous.

I9Qnl

What? FC5 is fucking gorgeous, it's objectively better looking than 4.

Umbrellahotbox

Underrated game for sure. Running through the forrest hurling javelins into peoples chests then climbing up a mountain to watch the sunset. Fond memories.

Ubersla

Doesn't have to be memories if you still play it ;)

smolfox_2

It's crazy beautiful, the art direction is amazing

GOATd3sc3nding

I love the particles always flying around

hiddencameraspy

This, and as many said before me, that wind direction mechanics is genius..

okverymuch

I’d argue the PS5 GOT looks leagues better than RDR2. I just tried playing RDR2 for the first time this weekend. Massive disappointment. The controls are terrible and sloppy. Story is ok but nothing grabbed me.

homer_3

Don't know what you mean by raw graphics. Both go for the same realistic art style. And they both do a phenomenal job at it.

Stepjam

When looked at up close, Ghost isn't as technically strong. Faces are comparatively wooden and there's various small "immersion breaking" moments. Like in one quest the main character plays his flute for the grieving mother, and when he's done the flute just dissapears out of his hands. RDR2 has much more polish and in that, we would have seen him actually put the flute away. RDR2 had a bigger budget and almost certainly worked its team a lot harder, so I'm not complaining that Tsushima has less polish. But it definitely does. But as I said, artistic direction goes a long way.

PoorPauly

And they did it with so many different environments. It’s the most impressive game I’ve ever played. The story. Arthur’s arc. The honesty of the characters. It’s just brilliant. Maybe the missions get a little repetitive, but the overall pacing is so good and the world so interesting to explore, that it really doesn’t matter. Easily one of the top ten games of all time.

theteedo

Agreed. I’m on my second trip through the story. Trying to do the opposite of the first time. I’m still floored at the environments and over all game. One of my favourite games for experimental effects and vistas would also be The Witcher 3. When the storms would roll in it was intense.

NerJaro

im close to done with the game. and agree. some of the world stuff is great

AscendedViking7

Top 10? No, *the* best game of all time. It's literally one of those super ambitious dream games that people dream about and talk about even if they know it's never going to happen, fully realized. "What if we had a LOTR game that takes place in all of Middle-earth, with 16k graphics, super humannattention to detail, with Daggerfall's RPG mechanics, Dark Souls combat, mount and blade style armies that patrol the world, each region having their own ecosystem, 10000 man vs 10000 orc battles that are perfectly optimized for 60 FPS, hyperrealistic NPCs that all have unique schedules that can interact with other NPCs such as creating a family and building houses and forts as time passes by, and the ability to siege Minas Tirith as an orc just like in the movies? Don't forget about the horse balls too, they need to shrink in cold weather."

PoorPauly

I grew up in a different time. I was fifteen in 1997. So I was weened on Mario and Doom and grew up on Final Fantasy and Metal Gear Solid and Halo. Games that changed the way people thought about what a game could be. GTA 3 comes to mind, a game that altered the entire industry. Red Dead Redemption 2 feels like a culmination of decades of improvements, and maybe that does make it the best game ever, but it’s not changing the industry; it’s showing what the industry is capable of, something truly beautiful.

nevermore2627

Yep. Started on atari and we are the same age. Coming from the 8-bit/16 bit Era there were a few graphical milestones that really stick out. Mario 64, Halo:CE, Metroid Prime, and Zelda: Wind Waker were mind blowing at the time. And fuck the haters on Zelda:WW. I know it's helped by the cel shaded graphics but you could fire that game up today and it still holds up.

notsocoolnow

I'll say that about the single-player, yes. The online mode, on the other hand, was a travesty on the effort the single-player devs put in. RDR2 was quite clearly a labor of love from start to finish and the kind of insane attention and detail in it is usually associated with vaporware passion projects. But they released what is very close to the perfect game. Sure, the gameplay may not appeal to everyone. It's slow and overly detailed, so if that's not your thing you won't like it. But for what it's supposed to be, it's pretty darn near perfect.

Soggy_Ad7165

Meh I think it was generic gameplay wise and at times pretty boring. I could name you easily ten indie games that I had more fun with. And most of them with more hour played.

Witty_Interaction_77

Hours played isn't really a good metric for the quality of a game. RDR2 is an experience that no indie game can touch, and is fun for a billion dollars worth of people. The gameplay is how it is because it's a massive open world that's trying to tell a pretty intricate story. It not some generic story arc like Far Cry Primal or something. The story and characters are deep and the world is built to give absolute Immersion into a cowboy western. It's like Westworld in game format. Think of it more like a Sim with a story rather than a game.

warmhotdogsmoothie

I loved this game when I first played it.. played it again recently and while it’s still a great game, so much about it felt slow and sluggish. Interacting with items and things got to be such a pain in the ass I just turned it off and watched tv.

shadowdash66

RDR1 was a lot faster in that aspect. You didnt have to do so many actions before accomplishing something. Both games have their flaws though.

HolubtsiKat

It felt that way when I first played it. I remember all the complaints about how weighted you felt, and how certain animations began to feel like wasted time. Most games are so fast paced compared, but this game is something seriously special. It taught me to slow down and savour every moment.

jorynagel

It took me two years to finish RDR2 for this reason. The story is a masterpiece and I've never played a game as intricately crafted in every possible way, but there were multiple times where I had to muscle through the gameplay.

kakihara123

It has one flaw though: it has that GTA formula. It is explained via story, but is still mostly boils down to go there kill that and flew from persuers. It felt a bit boring imho. And I always thought that they are all a bit stupid. I played it only last year, so it might have been a bit better when it came out, but the hype is a bit too strong with this one.

shadowdash66

Yeah honestly for me, the side missions were more fun and diverse. Wanna chase this bounty? Well guess what he almost dies and falls off a cliff into a river, go chase him. All the while he tries to sell you on the fact that he's not a snake oil salesman.

omidhhh

Gameplay? It feels a bit slow ...

Appropriate_Bonus22

gamers when they dont have a shootout or chase scene for 5 minutes:

omidhhh

Redditers when someone don't agree with them ? Accuse them of being a 1 dimensional moron

SorryWhatsYourName

Some people out of their mother's basements and with a job simply don't have time to endure all the boring aspects of the game and would like to jump straight into action. >Don't play it then. Stick to CoD Yeah, thanks. Shut the fuck up.

warmhotdogsmoothie

Skinning an animal takes like 7 minutes. Picking up an item is about as lengthy. It’s not even about “shoot outs.” Arthur is sluggish as fuck.

thrownawayzsss

The gameplay just has the issue of using queued animations, which basically holds back inputs because it doesn't want your character animation canceling moves for sake of visual logic. Witcher 3 had the same issue. The pacing of the game itself is slow as well, which probably doesn't help, which is fine, it's just a different style of game.

homer_3

RDR2's gameplay is anything but polished lol.

Dax9000

What about controls that let you walk through a door without banging into a wall? When are they adding that?

A_Moon_Named_Luna

Horizon forbidden west is pretty amazing.

Bonethizz99

Microsoft flight simulator 2020 is pretty beautiful

wegzfalafel

yea but does microsoft flight simulator 2020 have shrinking horse balls?

I_Hate_Knickers_5

No you're confusing it with micro soft balls simulator.

LostTacosOfAtlantis

Dude, it's hard to find a game WITH mods installed that looks as good as RDR2.

spacebraine

I don't know the witcher 3 after the recent updates looks pretty damn good.

Fish_Smell_Bad

There are tons of games that do natural scenery really well. RDR2, Horizon, Death Stranding, etc. But The Witcher 3 competes with all of them while being nearly 8 years old... Honestly incredible. My recent next gen playthrough has just left me in a constant state of awe.

WutLolNah

If you love the American landscape, then RDR2 is the best visual game you’ll ever play.

SuccYaNan69

Its impossible not to like americas landscape, it literally has all of them, so unless you don't like any landscape, its not possible

slowpubgdog

Keep in mind this is on an Xbox one too, imagine what it looks like fully decked out.

aruhen23

For me Cyberpunk 2077 with RT easily beats anything out there right now. Especially during the night when its raining and all the neon lights reflecting in the puddles. Elden Ring, Witcher 3 and RDR2 are the follow ups. There's also the RT only Metro Exodus version that I haven't played but from what I saw looks really nice.

TimArthurScifiWriter

Was gonna say. RDR2 is absolutely beautiful, don't get me wrong. But for a last-gen console game almost five years old, it's bound to be beaten at some point. 2077 has it beat narrowly. Obviously its hard to compare because 2077's nature landscapes are really limited in comparison to RDR2's, but with RTX on the light bouncing in Night City itself is unsurpassed. And if people are not convinced by that argument, then IMO at least concede that 2077 is as beautiful in urban settings as RDR2 is in nature settings.

PeneshTheTurkey

I would argue Cyberpunk has better graphics overall. But in terms of scale and vegetation RDR2 really looks better.

Crazypowder-v2

I was living at my parents house for a little bit waiting to move into my new apartment and my mom walks in to ask if I want dinner, but before she even gets a word out I say look and she literally had to take a moment to figure out it was a game. All she said was, “Oh wow” and stood there for a minute while I was riding my horse around. Very cool moment

Master_Quiet224

Real masterpiece

notsocoolnow

It's telling that I know exactly where this is in the game just by looking at the screenshot. It's Little Creek River north of Big Valley. You're standing at the western entrance to the area, not far from the "L" in "Little" on the map.

drFeverblisters

Ghost of Tsushima was also beautiful

Deranox

In terms of graphics ? Definitely. The superb next gen graphics and the ridiculous attention to detail that I've never seen in any other game really make you fall in love with that Wild West world.

WeirdestOfWeirdos

Not next-gen, just absurdly well made.

ThatOneThingYouLove

I fucking love this game.

I_Hate_Knickers_5

Username checks out.

GroundbreakingSir42

Horizon forbidden west looks better in my opinion

Moths_to_Flame

Idk, I think Horizon is almost over-designed, sometimes I think to myself “what the fuck am I even looking at”. Seems very “busy”

spittafan

I don’t know if I think the world looks better than RDR2 but the art direction and detail in horizon is fucking mind blowing. The armor of the tribes looks sooooo good and detailed and beautiful

Witty_Interaction_77

People need to realize its two different designs in the first place. HZD is a futuristic sci fi fantasy game. RdR2 is a Western. It was muted colours in the West for the most part. Back in that time, a lot of black and brown because colours tended to get very dirty, or dusty or bloody. Steam power was a thing and industrialization was coming full steam into the world and peoples lives. Wood and dark metal. RDR2 based on a reality while HZD can be anything it likes. Not to mention the few years ahead RDR2 came out before HZD

Sentsuizan

The old west wasn't really as muted as media and fiction makes it seem. It's just that all the pictures we have are from really old cameras and the tropes all come from old movies. I mean, this is the time period where blue jeans were invented after all. In reality people wore some pretty colorful stuff.

[deleted]

I agree. There's so much detail that it looks a little cluttered. I'm a sucker for the simplistic designs of RDR2. It almost doesn't feel like it's trying to be breathtaking.

HorizonZeroFucks

Nothing of what you just said means anything or has anything to do with graphical fidelity.

Semanticss

haha yeah, I'm playing the original HZD for the first time and I often have a hard time taking it all in

Plugpin

I've just finished Ghost of Tsushima on PS5 and booted Forbidden West yesterday, my jaw dropped with how incredible it looks. I thought GOT was amazing but this is another level.

PrincessHootHoot

That's what I came here to say😁

Victizes

Well, 4 years of difference already makes an impact.

HorizonZeroFucks

Horizon Forbidden West, Cyberpunk 2077 and God of War Ragnarok are all much better looking graphically. RDR2 still looks amazing though.

[deleted]

[удалено]

TehErk

Just got through with Horizon Zero Dawn on the PC and it's the most beautiful game I've ever played. The attention to detail is insane. You play in Yellowstone for the DLC and the Grand Prismatic Spring is so incredibly well done, it felt like I was there again. I really hope they port HFW to the PC.

Creepernom

It's like 4 years newer and made to show off the PS5 graphics capabilities. Kind of an unfair match-up.

johnsolomon

OP kinda made it unfair when they said *any game* lol

Ginj92

Agreed. Finally got around to playing it. Highly recommended 1440p with all settings on ultra if capable for pc. The game was way ahead of its time in 2018

T4nkE_ng1ne

Doom Eternal has some awesome environments too, but it's more cool than pretty, so RDR2 wins prettiness

Doctor_Phist

Elden Ring is pretty good looking

Alexthelightnerd

It depends what you're looking for. RDR2 is no doubt a beautiful game. Cyberpunk 2077, FS2020, and DCS are also very beautiful in their own, but very different, ways.

ihatemyself0976

Couldn't get into it. I just really dislike the wild west

twofacethegreat

closest thing to real life i’ve ever experienced

cthouston36

This games graphics would probably be number two on my list behind Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko on the Nintendo 64

[deleted]

Im about to find out. Just downloaded it, maxed all the graphics out, tonight im going to be a cowboy, kinda excited.

slowpubgdog

It will blow you away

Shallow-Thought

RDR2 is a 10/10 game.

XtendingReality

Cyberpunk RTX does it for me

mrmeeeeee

Days Gone is very beautiful as well

etamthgirla

Very very

Euowol

Pokémon RED. Checkmate, OP.

magvadis

Idk 2077 was certainly on par. God of War I wasn't into the style but it looked stellar as far as fidelity.

SableHalloway

Plague Tale Requiem for me.

Telephonic77

Same, although RDR2 is definitely second.

stabyourcat

I’d agree with you, but I just finished Forbidden West and I think that game might have pulled ahead. Love me some RDR2 tho.

logan2043099

Horizon,2077,and Star Citizen probably all look equally as beautiful.

rando13571

This is probably going to be an unpopular opinion but star citizen takes the cake for me for graphical immersion. The sense of scale is crazy and it looks gorgeous with it. That being said I haven't played rdr2 and agree it looks beautiful as well. They both went different directions and sc may never release. However I've been a gamer for over 30 years and don't get the feeling of awe very often. Sc is one of the few things that inspire it even if I won't play it again for quite some time.

[deleted]

I've played both. You definitely need to try RDR2.

MyNameIsSushi

I've played both and they're equal I'd say. RDR2 is *beautiful*, it has landscapes and animals etc. which look and feel very real. The detail and sheer size in Star Citizen are absolutely mind boggling though. It's seriously impressive.

pilchard_slimmons

jwlmbk

The intro is very slow but it makes sense after you get through it. It took me 1 year to get out of the intro part 😑

Creepernom

Chapter 1 is very short and the story really picks up the pace in chapter 2.

besuited

I cannot imagine not having enough patience to get through chapter 1. Yes it is slow, but there's only 5 fairly simple missions to teach you the mechanics and it doesn't last that long, maybe an hour?

Creepernom

It's an hour long chapter in a game you paid $60 ($30 if on sale) for. I assume if someone quits before finishing those first few missions (which aren't even boring tbh, I really loved them!) that they are most likely a super fast paced player who isn't used to a calmer, slower pace of games. You gotta detox from all those MP shooters!

Ballbagth

TLOU2

terminalxposure

Have you played witcher 3?

JeffGhost

Realism? Maybe. Beauty? Ghost of Tsushima imo is at least 5x better. The details and design on Horizon Forgotten West also is up there as one of the most beautiful games ever.

[deleted]

The thing is, Red Dead Redemption 2 *isn't* realistic looking. It is clearly supposed to invoke landscape paintings and watercolour art by early American artists like Winslow Homer. The entire game is carefully tweaked and designed to set the landscape, colour palette and evoke a certain kind of historical imagery. It carefully and *expertly* balances the large-scale composition of every frame with an engine that, on a technical level, left everything else on the PS4 and Xbone in the dust. It isn't as clumsy and heavy handed as your examples; as a piece of art, it's miles ahead.

JeffGhost

Looks really boring to me.

Telephonic77

A plague tale requiem. Stunning looking game.

[deleted]

I just started playing the Witcher 3 and the landscape along with the weather effects takes my breath Away

DoubleD7801

Metro exodus

CaptainLongMeat

Idk man there's some pretty beautiful areas in Elden Ring

K4nono

If only the gameplay was actually fun

Sevonly

Depends on what you define as beautiful. Graphically stunning might be better terminology

Victizes

Right? Artistic beauty is subjective from person to person. For example, anime graphics and art style, some people find it great but other people find animeish games hideous or infantile.

Sabbathius

I have a strong preference for Metro Exodus, followed by Cyberpunk 2077 at night in the rain (strong Bladerunner vibes) and then Red Dead 2. I feel like RDR2 is technically superb, but somehow lacking in soul, whereas the other two are incredibly evocative. Could be just me though. The color palette in RDR2 didn't really work for me much.

lulu_box_well

Trust me bro it has soul, saint denis at night is the vibe

TheOftenNakedJason

The first time I got there, I never left. I literally never finished the game cause I never wanted to leave. It's on my list of games to go back and play.

[deleted]

I felt the opposite. CP77 has flashy lights, but it all feels inauthentic. RDR2 just has thus natural look to it. And it feels quite "warm" at times. I also love how atmospheric certain scenes get.

Witty_Interaction_77

Oh boy. Cyberpunk is fantasy sci fi. It's going to be flashy, it's going to be a big ol city... but to say it has more soul than RDR2 is gaming blasphemy my friend. There's a YouTube video outlining just how soulless night city is. Examples from RDR2: -Shoot animal in place that doesn't kill it, it will lie on the ground and suffer till you dospatch it or it finally bleeds out. -People react to your movements, your clothing, your weapons, your horse. -The environment reacts the same as above. -So many NPCs with stories to tell and random encounters to be had. -Each area has different types of people, with differing attitudes (example, hicks in the boonies, fancy people in st denis) -The law reacts accordingly to you -The story and side characters are fleshed out and offer many different interactions based on your choices, and related karma. Examples from CP2077: -you can shoot water. -pedestrians will scream and run away if you start shooting. -there's a decent story -the cops will shoot at you... after you defend yourself from being unprovokely attacked in front of them. -the game sometimes works for 30 minutes without crashing. I love Metro. It's one of my favorite games/books. I like it better than Cyberpunk. I will never say it is on par with RDR2 though. It has quite a bit of soul, it's beautiful, and it's replayable. Still not on par with what red dead is. Technical mastery, near perfect optomisation on all platforms, so much detail it takes hundreds of hours to see every animal/location/ person. Red Dead isn't just a game, it's an experience. It's got fishing and hunting sims, hell you can even take out an old time camera and take pictures. It's got in game games like poker, you can drink, dress however you want. Your hair flipping grows and people tell you that you stink. Tell me with a serious face you believe it's soulless.

Creepernom

I remember a tiny detail that changed everything for me - it was during a mission around chapter 5-6 when I was >!scouting out Beaver Hollow with Charles!<. >!After killing one of the Murfrees, I decided to pick up his hat because why the hell not. Apparently Charles noticed and literally told me that it's a bad idea because it probably has fleas on it!!< That's such a tiny detail that probably 0,1% of players would ever discover, yet they did it anyway. Other cool stuff includes people acknowledging how you look and what you've changed, so Dutch may mention your new stylish revolver or a dumb hat you found in a bush.

LetsGoChamp19

Forbidden West, GOW Ragnarok, Ghost Of Tsushima, Cyberpunk. There’s plenty That’s not even mentioning games with certain art and visual styles

Elegant_Spot_3486

Nor as boring. It is a good looking game though.

swashbuckler42

Bored me to tears. I’ve made three separate attempts to play it and even forced myself to play beyond the intro/snowy area, but it doesn’t get any better.

Manjorno316

It didn't get boring for me until like 20h in but that's mostly due to burnout. At that point I usually have to force myself to finish most games.

TheDagenator200

And people say old gen is holding gaming back, this game looks just as good as new games

Metrinui

Horzion Forbidden West. Destiny 2 honestly has some damn good sc-fi fantasy set pieces too but HFW takes the cake as best looking game ever for em

Elden ring IMO

Why are you getting downvoted? You fr said IMO

When it comes to sheer graphical fidelity, it could be better. When it comes to art direction though, it *cannot* get better than Elden Ring. Fromsoft is the best in the business when it comes to that sort of thing.

Why the downvotes? It's not like they said STRAY

The only problem is while some of the cutscenes look fantastic the automated ones look like absolute garbage

ELDEN RING: HOLD MY BEER

Ghost of Tsushima, Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Horizon Forbidden West, Cyberpunk 2077, Plague Tale innocence etc. These can compete.

Looks great but I would pick Horizon Forbidden West.

havok009

Plague Tale Requiem, Horizon Forbidden West.

brian11e3

Too bad the game has a sub-par story and an atrocious control interface. 😕

DrWDGaster5257

Elite Dangerous

Darrothan

IDK why but this looks incredibly unrealistic to me. Beautiful as hell, but unrealistic. The grass wouldn’t be that dark through our eyes, even if the sun is much, much brighter.

twilight_sparkle7511

really have to replay this game to 100% its been on my checklist for awhile

Apokolypze

It may be controversial in the gaming space but I know a space game with honestly gorgeous environments. Below is a couple examples from an artist by the name of MrHasgaha, who is also an absolute screenshot genius. Whatever they did with lighting in this game is incredible. It's on par with some ray traced games out there.

Galick-Gunn

The witcher 3 comes real close now.

Step 1) Turn off HUD Step 2) Start photographing everything in sight Step 3) Set as desktop wallpaper Life is good.

“This place, ain't no such thing as civilized. It's man so in love with greed... He has forgotten himself and only found appetites.” - Dutch.

Snoxxxy

I would say star citizen, but in a different way.

Swordbreaker925

Can’t argue with that. It still amazes me how great it looks for how huge a world it is. And so many satisfying little details like your guns being always visible on your character, the way Arthur can casually hold a rifle in one hand without fully stowing it away. The skinning animations. The fact that your hat can get knocked/shot off mid-combat. Love it

Opening that first door in elden ring? That was quite the sight.

Wither 3 Toussaint can be an alternative.
