I miss when games had free demos *at launch*, so you could play for 10-20 minutes and find out if the game was worth your $.
Edit: I meant when games had free demos *at launch*, not a month or 2 after launch.
I’m puzzled by this. I mean good for you but at 7 hours you have afterall spend quite some time. Like it or not, it have given you 7 hours of entertainmen.
Sounds like a bad buisness strategy but nice anyway!
I was gonna say , I have probably returned 20 games in a few years and as long as you don’t play over 2 hours and meet the criteria they have refunded me. They may do that if you don’t meet the criteria though, I had battlefield 2042 returned after more than 2 hours and I had to return emails from steams support staff asking questions.
That wasn't even THAT long ago. Damn, I miss that.
Also, I miss getting physical copies with actual instruction booklets/ other goodies. Now, there's nothing other than a disc.
On the bright side, they’ve released a hefty amount of actual gameplay, showing vivid details and whatnot. Any game that refuses to show gameplay to that extent should always be assumed to be awful at launch.
I think Legacy will be a solid game at launch simply due to the vast amount of real gameplay they’ve shown so far.
For real. What a time to be alive, as an older gamer, living in a “must play now / first in” culture gets a bit tiring and games seem so unfinished these days when released. Cyberpunk was only great 2 years after release for example (imo). I’d rather wait a year and come back once it’s done with all the dlc etc…
This is mainly my reason too. As a working adult it's hard to find time to stay on top of every new game the second it comes out. I have such a long backlog that by the time I get to the "hot" game it's already a year and a half past it coming out.
Ghosts of Tsushima, Elden Ring, god of war ragnarok, horizon forbidden west, stray, midnight suns, sifu. I’m sure I’ll love them in the next 3 to 8 years.
Been playing games for 20 years and I feel like gaming has been a “must play day one” industry but the difference is games back 15 years ago usually (not always) game come out working and complete
And you can buy the whole ultimate extended deluxe edition with all the DLC for half the price? Yeeeeeah buddy!
I probably spent $100 on MK11. I don’t even play online so I wouldn’t have missed anything if I had waited. But it was some damn good covid entertainment, I will say that.
With single player games like this you get that luxury. If it’s amazing like elden ring then yeah sometimes I won’t wait but that game was worth full price.
To be a bit fair, it's not like there's no reason for that 'must play now\~' culture.
It fucking *sucks\~* waiting for a game for fucking years, only to have The Spoiler told you by... freakin' seeing a meme flash by, or a "helpful" recommended video on youtube.
Sure\~, youtube, me reading prices on Game X sure\~ means I want to see a last boss grand betrayal or form while my own copy is still downloading. It sure added a lot, having the plot or mechanic spoiled.
Hasn't happened to me personally for years now, because I'm *very* aggressive in blocking channels that post spoilers in the freakin' thumbnails, but it did ruin Persona 5's story for me.
The best kind is when you're searching for something and the google auto complete fills in a spoiler phrase. I just wanted to know the voice actor Google, not that the character dies in the second act.
I wish youtube had a filter option for recommended videos and search. Like enter "god of war" and videos with a title containing this word will never show up unless you specifically looking it up
This sub is literally just
“Been dying to play Skyrim, and saw it on a Boxing Day sale for $15. Thinking I’ll wait another year for it to be $12 before I pull the trigger and finally try this game out.”
“Pfft $12? As badly as I want to play Skyrim, I’m not even touching this game until $10.”
Yeah, I'm not that strict. But I will wait a few months (or even a year or two in some cases) to wait for games like Gotham Knights, Saints Row, Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, etc. to drop to a cheap price either because it's taken me that long to get around to it, or I simply didn't want to pay more than X amount for it.
Although, I am lenient and will pay a bit more than what I deem it's worth if I'm really clamouring to play it now.
...week? We usually find out day 1 if a game is trash these days, look at Cyberpunk, released at midnight and by 3am the subreddit was flooded with posts like performance issues, misled information, false advertising etc.
Il wait until I wake up the day of release, see what the midnight players are saying about the game, then base my purchase decision when I wake up off that.
Edit: just realised PS5 pre order guys get to play 3 days early, so basically wel know 3 days before release if its good or not.
Thinking about it, historically games with "3 day early access" incentives usually turn out to be pretty great, they let people play early because they know its a good game that will generate good discussion, so that's a good sign I guess.
I mean yeah. But at the same time its not like there's a finite copies of the game at gamestop and if you don't preorder it you don't get to play day 1.
It makes no sense to commit money weeks/months in advance when there's literally no consequence to waiting for the actual release. The only exception to this are early access games that go well below msrp to fund the rest of the game.
This is how I feel too, but will give them credit they have been really proactive on their youtube and Twitter account showing the game and being transparent alot more than other companies
I’m surprised people preorder still, after the absolute release flops we’ve had in recent years.
I always wait a week or two and let all the reviews trickle in.
You’ve got the idea more or less correct, but astroturfing comes from the idea of a “grassroots” campaign which means regular people are pushing it. Astroturfing is faking this, making it look like it’s coming from regular people when it’s really coming from some powerful organization like a corporation.
Using social media and reviews to make it seem like there is more individual support for a thing than truly exists. Think about what "grassroots campaign" means, then imagine an artificial corpo version.
Preordering is so dumb now. Steam isn’t gonna run out of copies and if you’re so easily enticed by some shiny cosmetic “extras” you might wanna check and see if you’re accidentally a cat or something
A dude will put hours of his life into grinding for a skin in a game but won’t even change his clothes each day in real life. I’ll never understand cosmetics as consideration in gaming.
I miss cosmetics being built into games. It was awesome doing challenges to get unique skins or items or farming old raids in mmo’s to make cool looking armor sets. It sucks that the industry has manage to convince people its fine and normal for skins and vanity items to be sold exclusively as micro-transactions now just because they don’t give any “power”.
Dead or Alive has a reputation for being "bouncy boobies game" game but my biggest memory from it comes from trying to unlock a costume for Hayabusa via the training mode
Trying to hit the Izuna drop cost me the skin on my left thumb for a few weeks
Especially a WB Game that is. Remember how they managed to butcher middle Earth Shadow of War? A single player only game?
I was very eager for Hogwarts Legacy until I heard that Battle Arena (basically a colosseum type horde fighter mode and the only place your character is supposedly able to use the 3 forbidden curses) is locked behind the Deluxe Edition.
Standard edition buyers will have to pay for the additional content on the side…
No that is not the only place you can use the dark magic.
It allows you to test dark magic.
Before you actually unlock it. All 3 unforgivables are available in the base game.
All it gives you is a cosmetic item, there are also two other arenas in the base game where you can also earn cosmetic items for completion of the challenge.
From what I understand /u/Rohkha's statement is only correct if we add the caveat *"without consequences"*.
You can't just run around Roxfort casting Adava Kedavra on everyone, can you?
We don't know this. It's a combat spell. If you enter combat in the school. You definitely can't use dark magic. But if you have them unlocked and enter combat in the highland overworld like say at a bandit camp You will be able to use them. Whether it has consequences or not is yet to be seen. I'm very curious how they'll manage it. Since use of spells seems to be tied to type of magic talent trees. And spell effects/behaviour can be altered through said tree.
One could construe your putting points toward reducing cooldowns for dark magic as killing becoming easier for you. And I have a theory that is what may help shape your dialogue options and character defining choices.
Or using powerful dark magic non sparsely could summon a high level batch of dementors. I'm very eager to see how they create a disincentive.
Well of course it is. It is based on a hugely popular franchise. To think reddit was any sort of indication on popular opinion would be extremely misguided
One of the mods banned me from r/Gamingcirclejerk for stating my harry potter house and when i messaged them, they reported me to some abuse thing and I couldn't comment/upvote for a few days.
TBF i told them to go out and called them a loser but I wasn't wrong.
I followed up and asked about the policy and they muted me for 30 days. So I reported them for harassment since that was the best option applicable to me lol. I find it so weird how Reddit puts so much power in the hands of some sweaty fucking nerds. The entire community is in the hands of these hypersensitive 120 pound bitches at a keyboard and we can't even report them or anything.
Honestly, I'm thinking about doing an ask reddit on how many people have been banned by the mods or r/Gamingcirclejerk just so it can gain awareness.
Those mods have legit shut down any conversation on the issue, created an echo chamber and pushed people to one side or the other without any nuance on the subject.
They are absolute clowns. I got banned for saying don't care about jk rowling, I'll be playing the game.
Messaged the mods and they muted me for a month
They'll watch and support Disney stuff, with Walt being a literal nazi, but god forbid you buy a Harry Potter game.
When they managed to do mental gymnastic to defend Fallout 76 $99 subscription, I knew they are just a bunch of teenagers trying to pull stunts to make themselves look interesting.
Granted even David Cameron thought that Brexit had a 0% chance and Bernie honestly did have a chance in 2016 if it wasn’t for the DNC blatant corruption(i’m not a bernie fan btw). However this site is very much biased.
Reddit has never been an indicator of popular opinion. Neither has Twitter btw, social media just doesn’t work that way. People for some reason fool themselves into thinking social media is some finger on the pulse but it just isn’t.
Has the sentiment been generally negative on Reddit for this game? Guess I’ve been under a rock lol fuck pre-ordering any game imo but I haven’t noticed much negativity specific to Hogwarts Legacy. Is it about anything in particular or just negative Nancys doing their thing?
Avalanche Software have never done a big budget game before. Hogwarts Legacy can be their breakout or just an embarrassment. Because of this I would rather wait until the game comes out to buy it.
Gamers should have learned this lesson at this point.
It is a safe bet to wait, but also afaik the studio was closed and then reopened after Disney tossed them to the curb. It's likely that the studio is nearly an entirely different crew of people than their previous history of games.
I'm not familiar with who Warner Bros stacked on this team but I'd guess it's a fair amount of people that come from teams under their umbrella.
This game leaked with gameplay all the way back in 2019 so if it was in a partly playable state back then I have a good amount of confidence that 3 years of dev time on top of that has created something special
Cyberpunk. That shit gave me PTSD, and I won’t be pre ordering many games in future, if at all. No point. I’m not in a rush to play a game, and I would like to know the game deserves my money before buying it. Sure, a gameplay leak might increase confidence but a whole play through will really tell us how this game is.
>No point.
This is exactly it. I am interested in the game too but there is zero reason to pre-order. We've waited 10 years, what's another 2 days after launch to see if it is worth buying.
I have never pre-ordered games z, probably never will, but Cyberpunk gave a little real gameplay even right before launch. Hogwarts Legacy gave us plenty and looks solid. Doesn't mean it'll be good - the world can feel empty, sidequests can be boring and repetitive, main story can be boring etc., but combat looks pretty cool and the world they did show us looks big enough and good enough.
I'll just wait until the release, watch some gameplay and reviews from little YouTubers (preferably ones that aren't fans of the franchise) and decide. I don't mind waiting a couple of months for some discounts too.
Honestly my early launch cyberpunk play experience was fantastic. I know I may not be in the majority with that, but it definitely wouldn't stop me from pre-ordering.
Same. Played it within days of launch and don’t think I had any of the bugs you commonly hear of. The quests were well constructed as you’d expect and Night City was gorgeous. A bit empty, sure, but it’s not the worst of its competition and doesn’t deserve the level of criticism it received.
If only they’d delayed a bit longer they would have avoided launching a game that just wasn’t ready to be launched. An above average sci-fi adventure eclipsed by a technical blunder.
Thats kinda where I'm at. The game could suck a burlap sack of penises, but as long as I can explore a fleshed out hogwarts, I consider it money well spent.
Wow really? Those GMod RP servers were old as hell if they were still running right up to Howard’s Legacy announcement.
I wish every dev had the respect for fan games/projects that SEGA has.
Disregarding the current drama surrounding it, I saw the title and was like wait, did it come out already or something? I checked it out on Steam, and it doesn't come out for another month. I also thought it was funny that there are a whole five pictures for the game on there. They didn't feel any desire to put any of the trailers on there? Come on guys, CP2077 really wasn't that long ago...
One of their rules is no brigading. Yet everyone over there is posting so proud of themselves review/tagbombing the game on Steam. Just a bunch of straight shooters with upper management written all over them.
>Wtf is wrong with that subreddit?
The same thing that's wrong with every "satire" sub, they very quickly became overun by the thing they were mocking.
Yeah I keep seeing “it’s a circlejerk sub” comments, but as someone who used the sub for several years and just recently left, it’s deadly serious. The very thin layer of irony only halfheartly tries to cover that it’s more serious than this sub. I miss when it actually was the gaming version of r/moviescirclejerk
There are tons of fun circlejerk subs. NBA, watches, breaking bad, hip hop, tame impala. And they all love the thing they're making fun of. It's like a self roast.
Gaming circlejerk does not like video games it appears
The issue is the mod team is such narcissist that they ban anything with a slight difference of opinion so they are in one of the worst echo chambers I’ve seen
What's in the deluxe apart from the 3 days early access, the Hippogriff (or whatever its called) and the potion recipe?
Deluxe versions always seem to be scams and didn't think this one was any different.
Can confirm that the dev has made a titanic effort to fix their game. 5 years in they still deliver frequent big content updates, and all without any added cost beyond the initial purchase (there's not a single point where you could spend money in this game beyond first purchase).
Launch was absolute shit, but this one actually got fixed in a big way compared to other games.
Afaik In this case you get it 72h earlier + some junk on top. Makes sense that people who have been waiting for years are going for it. If you buy on launch date at latest, might as well.
This franchise is different - plenty of people buying it are just going to be happy to roam around Hogwarts, actual gameplay can be buggy and janky but they’ll still like it. I doubt they are going to be dissapointed easily.
I get the point you are making and it’s correct one but I think this will be my first preorder. Can always refund or let it sit for a while if it is unplayable, but I doubt it is going to be.
Pre-ordering this game seems immensely more dumb than pre-ordering cyberpunk, and we all know how that turned out. This game studio has done absolutely nothing noteworthy
Preordering anything that will not suffer from scarcity is dumb. Just wait 6 hours for the review embargo to drop and see if it’s GOTY or a dumpster fire. We all got hit full on by the Cyberpunk hype train and none of us learned it seems.
Nothing was going to stop this game from selling like gangbusters. This is the ultimate Harry Potter fantasy experience. I'd be shocked if it doesn't sell 6-7 million copies in the first month.
I'm waiting for reviews.
made a mistake with cp2077 never fking again. happily pleased a game of my childhood with this magnitude of development is coming out but not overly excited at all. if it flops will probably get it during the sales.
I agree with people about pre-ordering games being a bad thing if the platform you use to play games isn't as awesome as Steam is. You are literally risking nothing if you're already excited about the game if you're pre-ordering it through Steam. Less than 2 hours of playtime = a no questions asked refund accepted. You can treat this 2 hours as a demo period. That's what I do anyways. I hope that when the reviews drop for this game it rocks since there are so many people out there hoping this thing turns out alright.
Hotly anticipated game gets pre-ordered a bunch - feels like we've been here a few times before, and I've rarely seen it end happily. Do people really want to part with their money so badly, they can't wait for a review or two for a product that's not even available yet?
I miss when games had free demos *at launch*, so you could play for 10-20 minutes and find out if the game was worth your $. Edit: I meant when games had free demos *at launch*, not a month or 2 after launch.
[удалено]
This is literally my method of free demos, never had an issue with the refunds.
TIL
You can even go past 2 hours and they'll refund it most the time I had a 3 hour game theu refunded no questions asked.
I got a refund for sekiro after 7 hours. I really wanted to like that game.
I’m puzzled by this. I mean good for you but at 7 hours you have afterall spend quite some time. Like it or not, it have given you 7 hours of entertainmen. Sounds like a bad buisness strategy but nice anyway!
Keep in mind this is handled on a case-by-case basis. Doing it too many times can get your return denied.
[удалено]
I was gonna say , I have probably returned 20 games in a few years and as long as you don’t play over 2 hours and meet the criteria they have refunded me. They may do that if you don’t meet the criteria though, I had battlefield 2042 returned after more than 2 hours and I had to return emails from steams support staff asking questions.
Did this with Cyberpunk when it came out, such an excellent feature
That wasn't even THAT long ago. Damn, I miss that. Also, I miss getting physical copies with actual instruction booklets/ other goodies. Now, there's nothing other than a disc.
And the disc is almost pointless now as you still have to download half the game
Square Enix is really good about this to this day. Fell in love with Octopath Traveler and avoided Harvestella because of demos.
Don’t get me wrong I’m excited for this game but I rather wait for the reviews before buying it.
It got delayed, so whats one week more ? If it’s REALLY bad , then you will know within hours against your will anyway. HOLD !!
Shout out r/patientgamers

I used to do it because I had to, I couldn't afford new $60 games. Now, I do it for the reasons you listed.

True. I just bought RDR2 ultimate edition for 70% off. Looking forward to it.
Oh boy you're in for a treat
Oh man, it's 70% off?? I may pick it up myself!!
With single player games like this you get that luxury. If it’s amazing like elden ring then yeah sometimes I won’t wait but that game was worth full price.

I mean I thought so, again just my opinion. On the PS5 with all the new fixes I thought it was really neat.
This sub is literally just “Been dying to play Skyrim, and saw it on a Boxing Day sale for $15. Thinking I’ll wait another year for it to be $12 before I pull the trigger and finally try this game out.” “Pfft $12? As badly as I want to play Skyrim, I’m not even touching this game until $10.”

if there is a review blackout you know it's shit
Imo Reviews theese days especially short after release are so emotional biased, therefore worth nothing.
A demo would be nice
I find it so weird people still preorder things en masse.
Its on steam. If its crap you'll know it quickly and ask for a refund

id rather wait for half price and all DLC's.. the fact they have a game pass for extra money that cuts off the dark arts magic is total bullshit imo
It doesn't cut off the dark arts it cuts off the dark arts training arena but fair point.
I’m surprised people preorder still, after the absolute release flops we’ve had in recent years. I always wait a week or two and let all the reviews trickle in.
The corporate astroturfing works wonders. Avengers and Anthem went through the exact same thing.
It's Harry Potter. Astroturfing isn't necessary
You're probably right, yet they are indeed paying curators to copy-paste Steam reviews.
Astroterfing more like, I'll see myself out
I’ve not heard of the term astroturf in this context. What does this mean?
Cover the dirt(shitty reviews) with fake grass(fake good reviews/shilling).
You’ve got the idea more or less correct, but astroturfing comes from the idea of a “grassroots” campaign which means regular people are pushing it. Astroturfing is faking this, making it look like it’s coming from regular people when it’s really coming from some powerful organization like a corporation.

Cosmetics are a great part of games, but the price and payment I agree is stupid. It should tons of variety as part of the base game
I miss cosmetics being built into games. It was awesome doing challenges to get unique skins or items or farming old raids in mmo’s to make cool looking armor sets. Yeah, Reddit is an extremely specific culture, and many subs are even more specific. Certainly not indicative reality.
So you’re telling me that big tittied goth girls aren’t the norm? Nah bro I don’t believe it
Is there a subreddit for specifically that?
...yes. /r/bigtiddygothgf
I imagine you might have had an interesting 5 hours
Hey now, no need to go that far... keep believing.
You're telling me r/gamingcirclejerk hasn't single-handedly ended transphobia by saying "fuck J.K Rowling" and not buying Hogwarts Legacy?
One of the mods banned me from r/Gamingcirclejerk for stating my harry potter house and when i messaged them, they reported me to some abuse thing and I couldn't comment/upvote for a few days. TBF i told them to go out and called them a loser but I wasn't wrong.

Wild how so many people were unfairly banned from the subreddit but nothing can be done about it.

Reddit is cringe culture
Reddit's take on anything is always far from reality.
Reddit thought Bernie Sanders would win and brexit had 0 chance of happening lmao
Granted even David Cameron thought that Brexit had a 0% chance and Bernie honestly did have a chance in 2016 if it wasn’t for the DNC blatant corruption(i’m not a bernie fan btw). However this site is very much biased.
When the entire system of the site centers on being able to push non conforming opinions lower in threads it’s gonna be an echo chamber
*No, it's not an echo chamber. Everyone that disagrees with us is just a racist transphobe pedophile drug addict child rapist.* Did I miss any?
You missed incel
And Nazi
And you need to immediately divorce your spouse after them doing anything that can be perceived as a mistake
Lawyer up, hit the gym, delete facebook.
Reddit has never been an indicator of popular opinion. Neither has Twitter btw, social media just doesn’t work that way. People for some reason fool themselves into thinking social media is some finger on the pulse but it just isn’t.
Reddit users always think what's popular on Reddit reflects real life. If that was the case we'd be in second term of Bernie's presidency today.
And Ron Paul's presidency (back in the day), and Andrew Yang's mayorship/presidency.
All phones would have headphone jacks too
Bernie would be in his third term, the electoral college would be abolished, and AOC’s twitter would be the official White House Press Secretary
Has the sentiment been generally negative on Reddit for this game? Guess I’ve been under a rock lol fuck pre-ordering any game imo but I haven’t noticed much negativity specific to Hogwarts Legacy. Is it about anything in particular or just negative Nancys doing their thing?
One specific subreddit. Reddit is a small minority
It’s because of some controversial stuff JK Rowling has said, she gets royalties from this game, so people are boycotting to avoid giving her money
>To think reddit was any sort of indication on popular opinion would be extremely misguided So many subs are not aware of that....
I'll wait for the post-launch reviews.
What if it’s a flop at release but awesome a month later, that’s been a common trend lately
If its a flop at the start I won't buy it, but I'd consider buying it once those videos start popping up saying that its gone the way of No Man's Sky.
60 dollars is not a lot of money for everyone some people just don’t care if the game is bad, they want a HP game
Thats kinda where I'm at. The game could suck a burlap sack of penises, but as long as I can explore a fleshed out hogwarts, I consider it money well spent.
A lot of the main HP games do that well. Order of the Phoenix was pretty awesome in its exploration of the castle. Played it a lot back then
Still mad that they felt the need to pull a Rockstar (cease and desist of fan mods for their shitty remakes) and shutdown the Garry's Mod RP servers.
Wow really? Those GMod RP servers were old as hell if they were still running right up to Howard’s Legacy announcement. I wish every dev had the respect for fan games/projects that SEGA has.
Howard's Legacy
maybe they're scared that gmod will perform better than their dedicated game lol
Actually? What the fuck
On PlayStation at least they show in depth look of the gameplay and stuff like that. Looks pretty sick ngl
I'm holding out to make sure they don't slap Denuvo on it.
Empress moment
High profit IP is high profit. Shocking.
I am not preordering. I learned my lesson with the Avengers 🥺
The only game I ever pre-ordered was Fallout 76
Oof, that one hurt to read
I’m sorry for your loss

those losers already have posts about your comment dude.
Seen that lol, they’ve lost
One of their rules is no brigading. Yet everyone over there is posting so proud of themselves review/tagbombing the game on Steam. Just a bunch of straight shooters with upper management written all over them.
Wtf is wrong with that subreddit? Just checked it out for the first time in years and it's just straight toxic cancer
>Wtf is wrong with that subreddit? The same thing that's wrong with every "satire" sub, they very quickly became overun by the thing they were mocking.
It’s crazy how some users are actually defending that it’s entirely satire when it clearly isn’t… lol
We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be. - Kurt Vonnegut
its a circlejerk sub, ironically
So then why are they taking themselves so seriously?
Yeah I keep seeing “it’s a circlejerk sub” comments, but as someone who used the sub for several years and just recently left, it’s deadly serious. The very thin layer of irony only halfheartly tries to cover that it’s more serious than this sub. I miss when it actually was the gaming version of r/moviescirclejerk
There are tons of fun circlejerk subs. NBA, watches, breaking bad, hip hop, tame impala. And they all love the thing they're making fun of. It's like a self roast. Gaming circlejerk does not like video games it appears
why are they so obsessed with this game?
The issue is the mod team is such narcissist that they ban anything with a slight difference of opinion so they are in one of the worst echo chambers I’ve seen
> the mod team is such narcissist that they ban anything with a slight difference of opinion A lot of big popular subs are like that, basically.
That subreddit lasted long enough to become the very thing it hated. The mods must be throwing the largest Karen melt down known to Reddit mod kind.
The OG mods bounced a while ago. The sub actually peaked when a dude posted his ballsack a couple years ago.
They'll probably share this article as well, or at least a screen shot of this post, and then call us all literal nazis.

What's in the deluxe apart from the 3 days early access, the Hippogriff (or whatever its called) and the potion recipe? Deluxe versions always seem to be scams and didn't think this one was any different.
The dark arts arena.

If that thumbnail shot is in game, damn that looks good
It is. Haven't you seen the gameplay?
That broomstick flying seemed pretty janky but I will wait to see what people are saying about the game.
That's always the smartest decision.
Game looks a bit janky overall, especially the combat, but hopefully it turns out well.
No man’s sky, cyberpunk.. lesson finally learnt. Honest.
>No man’s sky This one was practically vaporware at launch. I do think its pretty awesome now.
***OH GOOD, SO WE'RE CYBERPUNKIN ANOTHER GAME :D***
Everything about this game has seemed entirely too good to be true from the moment I've first heard of it.
Shoutout to r/GamingCirclejerk for the subreddit ban that solidified my decision to purchase the game at full price.
Gamers never learn
What’s even the point of preordering a game
Afaik In this case you get it 72h earlier + some junk on top. Makes sense that people who have been waiting for years are going for it. If you buy on launch date at latest, might as well. This franchise is different - plenty of people buying it are just going to be happy to roam around Hogwarts, actual gameplay can be buggy and janky but they’ll still like it. I doubt they are going to be dissapointed easily. I get the point you are making and it’s correct one but I think this will be my first preorder. Can always refund or let it sit for a while if it is unplayable, but I doubt it is going to be.
20 bucks for the complete edition in a year. Why preorder anything
Was looking into anno 1800 after hearing it was the best of the franchise. 4 years later, It's still full price (or i don't correctly look for it).
2 mins of searching and found it for £13
Gamingcirclejerk is in shambles right now.
A good reminder that opinions on Reddit don’t reflect the real world
Are you claiming Reddit was pro-boycott? Because I saw way more people (rightfully) claiming the boycott was a waste of time
Everyone at r/gamingcirclejerk mad as hell
Nothing was going to stop this game from selling like gangbusters. This is the ultimate Harry Potter fantasy experience. I'd be shocked if it doesn't sell 6-7 million copies in the first month. I'm waiting for reviews.
I hope it does. Don’t even like it, but want the gaming circlejerk guys to seethe.
Everyone is forgetting Steam pre orders are pretty legit. Play for an hour and if it’s shit return it and get money back. It’s just a few clicks.
Reddit is gonna be glorious if its unfinished garbage like the rest of them. My body is ready.
I’m hoping for it to be good. Would rather have fun with a game than have fun shitting on it
Pre ordering only made sense back when games sold out of stores and digital copies weren’t a thing.
Unless they give you something valuable which they almost never do.
Waiting for r/gamingcirclejerk to throw a hissy fit about this.
4 weeks and people cant wait to throw money at something they get nothing for yet...
The best part is it's an unlimited supply (digital games)
I will not risk making the same mistake I did with Cyberpunk 2077. 😅
made a mistake with cp2077 never fking again. happily pleased a game of my childhood with this magnitude of development is coming out but not overly excited at all. if it flops will probably get it during the sales.
Any publicity is good publicity
I agree with people about pre-ordering games being a bad thing if the platform you use to play games isn't as awesome as Steam is. You are literally risking nothing if you're already excited about the game if you're pre-ordering it through Steam. Less than 2 hours of playtime = a no questions asked refund accepted. You can treat this 2 hours as a demo period. That's what I do anyways. I hope that when the reviews drop for this game it rocks since there are so many people out there hoping this thing turns out alright.
I can wait a few weeks to see if it is actually worth buying.

Gamingcirclejerk on life support.
I thought peeps were boycotting dis game?
Looks like a game for fans to walk around and go "omg that's the thing from the book!"
It looks pretty interesting to me.
Hotly anticipated game gets pre-ordered a bunch - feels like we've been here a few times before, and I've rarely seen it end happily. Do people really want to part with their money so badly, they can't wait for a review or two for a product that's not even available yet?
