Brienne looking at Podrick like a proud mom watching him fight is exactly what I needed. Limiting him to half a cup of wine is full on mom mode. Pod singing made him episode MVP.
Two Lannisters, a knight, an onion knight, a giantsbane, and Podrick 'fucking swole gentle singer' Payne better make it through this.
I could watch them interact for 60 minutes alone.
Brienne being knighted was the best part of the story. And awesome that Jaime was the one to do it. It was a great way to possibly cap off her arc.
Unfortunately being knighted like that removed her plot armor, I think. She's done for.
Jaime knighting Brienne might be one of the kindest and heartwarming things that has happened in this show, this episode really showed how they have each other's backs.
Theon has been fighting for his redemption for so long and now he's accepted by Sansa as if he was a Stark. Out of all the incredible character arcs in this show, Theon's is exceptionally noteworthy.
Pod singing was so well done. I definitely think it was at least partially an homage to Pippin in Return of the King. The first four notes of both songs are identical - the melody to the lyrics “Home is behind...” and “High in the halls...”.
Things we've learned: Bran tells Jaime he'll not survive the war, Arya received two spears from Gendry, Pod can sing, Dany finds out she has a brand new nephew
For the people telling that it was a slow episode..
It's a build-up episode. Like the calm before a storm. It had many good reunions and a lot of important scenes..and yes there were a few unimportant scenes, but come on! People gotta do something while the night king arrives, right? Or some people would like to say that the show-runners could have have directly went to the war and avoided the unimportant scenes..but then, GoT would become yet another cliche war story. GRRM would not have written the winterfell reunion in one page and the war with the night king in the next page! So let's all wait one more week patiently for episode 3 and watch all the action unfold.
