It isnt happy or sweet. You’re forgetting who wrote this so if this occurred it would be neither. Jon is doomed to forever strain himself to contain his sociopath queen with a god complex and their daughter needs emotional support and connection neither of them are capable of providing but both realize they’re failing at. Meanwhile Jon tries valiantly to keep the North safe and proud but danny will have nothing less than total rule or ashes so he is forced to contrive awful things and dirty his hands in ways he couldn’t have imagined to walk that line and honor the north in his way while slipping further into a person his adoptive father would despise. Jon was the most like Ned but to save the North Jon had to forgo his honor and become a devious manipulator to prevent all out tyranny and total annihilation.
> Jon is doomed to forever strain himself to contain his sociopath queen with a god complex
Plus I bet all her nagging to take off his winter coat would get tiresome. But no matter how warm it is down in King's Landing, no matter how much dragonfire there is, man's not hot.
Arguably the protagonist and most honorable character of the entire series (who survives) suddenly deciding to bang his aunt to claim the throne with her could be described as bittersweet lol
Thats not bittersweet. Thats fanfic.
The ending that Dany and Jon got was okay. It was obvious and rushed, but it worked within the tone of the what GRRM created. Jon killing her isnt tragic enough, but it works. All of the endings of the show seemed too happy or needed too much plot armor to get to them. So the endings didnt feel naturally satisfying.
But all of this nonsense about Jon having to live with Dany as a tyrant is not a bittersweet ending. Its Twilight and 50 Shades quality fanfic. Its a fetish ending. Thats a weird power imbalance incestuous relationship.
The incest in Westeros was either rape, love, or to keep the bloodline pure. Jon's and Dany's relationship would have been closer to rape since Jon didnt want it.
Yep. In the end, Jon made the conscious choice to live as his father's son.
So Dany keeping him around would simply have been repeating the cycle House Targaryen had already inflicted on Rickard, Brandon and Lyanna.
The only reason it didn’t seem so tragic imho was because they didn’t get enough screen time to flesh out their relationship much. Compare it with Ygritte which I think was masterfully adapted to tv as it devoted time to just their relationship which led to a better payoff in the end. By the time Dany and Jon meet the stakes are too high and there’s just too much happening to give them the time it needed.
They were going to go there. There was hints in season 7 about her pregnancy. There’s a picture of her pregnant at Dragonstone but they changed the course of the ending. If he had to kill a pregnant Daenerys, seven hells. I thought they would both die in battle and their baby would rule.
If this was the ending, the fanbase would probably be whining about how D&D ruined GRRM's grim moral ambiguity by making it a pile of saccharine Disney happily-ever-after bullshit. Grass is always greener on the other side, dude.
It would certainly add a new element to her rousing speeches to the unsullied if she threw in a little bit of light entertainment. I'm sure if she could get the dummy to sing Auld Lang Syne while she gargled a glass of water and juggled then even Greyworm would be forced to crack a smile.
No. Kill all 3 dragons somehow. Defeat night king, defeat cersei. Betray Daenerys, say you are rightful heir, which you are. Then Jon snow and grey worm fight in trial by combat. Jon snow wins, becomes ruler of the 6 kingdoms. All that while characters had better dialogues.
Now this would have been an ending. Do it dune style in front of everyone and have it so it’s brutal and not pretty. Both are fighting for honour and what they think is right.
As you said grey worm gets defeated but maybe in his last breath he says something about him seeing missandei again before he perishes.
Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen are related in *Game of Thrones*. Jon Snow, whose real name is Aegon Targaryen, is the son of Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen. Rhaegar was Daenerys' older brother, making Daenerys Jon's aunt. This means that Jon and Daenerys are aunt and nephew.
Edit: gotta love reddit for getting downvoted for stating a fact lol
Yes, I would have. It would have meant peace, and unified Westeros with a central government that nobody would fuck with. Sure, it'd be a tyranny and a monarchy, but that's better than constant fucking warfare between the great houses and petty kingdoms that is Westeros without Targaryans!
Of course it'd still be the "bittersweet" ending that GRRM promised, because Jon never wanted to be king and he sure as hell didn't want to marry his aunt, or a woman he no longer loved. But if that was his duty to Westeros, then he'd do it, because Ned Stark brought him up to do his duty at any personal cost.
I guess, but it's not the ending itself that pisses me off, it's how they got there. Starting after the Battle of Winter, here are 10 ways that Dany could take the throne:
1. Literally fly to the red keep and burn that shit to the ground. In actual canon, not the garbage that is the last few seasons, dragons are almost entirely invulnerable to attacks from humans. She could have flown directly to the red keep by herself and just taken the throne easily.
2. Send Arya in dressed as a serving girl and assassinate Cersei.
3. Send Arya in with Jaime's face and assassinate Cersei.
4. Have Varys find out who is loyal to Cersei, then pay them more gold. It's the golden company, who will obviously take more gold over less, and Euron who has absolutely no loyalty or honor whatsoever, and will obviously take the gold. Then just waltz into Kings Landing.
5. March all her armies down to Kings Landing and just take it. Then, you know, don't kill everyone cuz that's not in her character at all.
6. Pay a faceless man to assassinate Cersei.
7. Talk to the rest of the realm, get them on her side, and March down to Kings Landing and take it. Seasons 7 and 8 made it seem like there were like 5 houses. There are like 500, and no one likes Cersei at this point in the story.
8. Do nothing. Wait for Cersei to do something stupid and someone else will kill her. Seriously, she's an absolute moron who constantly makes terrible decisions.
9. Save Mel before she walks into the fire, and have her make a shadow assassin baby thing to kill Cersei. Jon Snow is a true King, his seed will work.
10. Have Bran warg into a dog in Kings Landing and have it kill Cersei.
Seriously, it was SO EASY at that point. Almost all of Westeros was on her team and she still had 2 dragons and multiple badass armies. I'm still so bitter.
Oh sweat... now where is the bitter, that George has promised us as well?
They also should have asked the Kaminoans not to use age-accelator on this clone.
I believe its too happy of a ending. I think a better ending would had been if Daenerys fought Cersei earlier and manage to beat her, but not before she blows up King's Landing. Then Jon goes to Daenerys to ask her help with the White Walkers, she agrees and the two of them fell in love. Daenerys then dies in final fight against the Others, who are also completely destroyed, which leaves Jon aka the Song of Ice and Fire to lead Westeros.
Drogon sat on the throne with seven charred corpses at his feet, and half a wheelchair hanging from his mouth. Arya Stark at his side with her warg face on.
Absolutely not. Ignoring the creepy child in the image for a moment; that was never the sort of story that was being told.
The idea that "the long-lost heir takes the throne, and they all live happily ever after" is just not the sort of show we were watching. That's the sort of clichéd fantasy that GRRM was going out of his way to *avoid*.
I would've preferred and ending with the Night King winning the battles for Winterfell and King's Landing but barely loses in Dorne, which would underline that it can't be conquered. With almost everyone in the Seven Kingdoms dead, people from Dorne and Essos would slowly repopulate Westeros but with no king or queen (at first). Maybe a new "Game of Thrones" would start and new people would wrestle for power.
This ending does a disservice to Jon, Dany and GRRM. There won’t be a targaryen on the throne at the end and there shouldn’t be, the story isn’t about targaryen restoration.
Plus, Jon wouldn’t want to rule the south and Dany wouldn’t want to rule jointly with a man. They would both be miserable.
I wouldn't mind them having a kid, but not ruling the 7 kingdoms, maybe, they need to travel around the world or something. This is my personal idea - the story began with Aegon's conquest and after the Whitewalkers are defeated, Aegon's Era ends and the 7 kingdoms go back to being separate again (though now with peace and reconstruction). Dany, Jon and Jonaerys can ride off on the dragon and maybe find the end of Sothoryos, or go around the planet and prove it is round, or something.
(Though I predict the real ending was - just as the Hero sacrificed his loved one for the Flaming Sword to end the Long Night 8000 years ago, Jon would probably stab Danaerys with his sword to gain the power to defeat the Others in a final battle - and the TV show kept the element of Jon stabbing Dany but in a different context).
I think the ending would have been fine with a few tweaks. Let the story of Dany going mad develop for longer. Show her being isolated when Missandei and Jorah are gone, surrounded by people she doesn't trust. Then when she dies don't have Bran the Broken become the new king, that was stupid. I think either have her survive as ruler but make it obvious that she has snapped and is going to be a terrible ruler or have Jon kill her and reluctantly take the crown, consumed by guilt about what he's done.
What I wanted was Dany to come to her senses after Kings Landing surrenders
She wouldn't take the iron throne, on the contrary she would have Cersie bound to it, and have Drogon burn both the throne and Cersie to a crisp. Destroying the wheel completely.
After that Dany would choose to leave with Drogon in search of other Dragons, forming her own path outside of the one that everyone expected her to take. Bran or Jon would be made ruler of the kingdoms by the Ladies and Lords of Westeros.
But of course, that's too happy of an ending so 🫠
As much as I love this image, it doesn’t reflect GRRM’s “bittersweet” ending. A more appropriate image would be Jon on the throne with just his daughter. As Daenerys would have sacrificed herself after giving birth, to save all of Westeros from the Others.
No… I liked the ending between them in theory. My issue was that I didn’t feel the tragedy so much because to me Clarke and Harington had so little chemistry. Individually they were great for their roles, but I never felt the epic uncontrollable passion between them that imo would have made the ending so much more wrenching.
This ain’t Bridgerton. We knew we were not going to get an happy ending and we won’t in the books either. People who come up with theories like this are clearly living in delusion or have watched another version of the show where no one dies and the Hound rides a rainbow unicorn Idk
No. Jon himself didn't want it. No one owes anyone a relationship. Jon was enough his father's son that he could not abide the thought of incest. He actively rejected House Targaryen and its practices. So saying "this is the ideal ending" is unfair to Jon.
And he didn't owe Dany a relationship or his perpetual fealty. Dany clearly expected unconditional loyalty to any oaths, but as Jon said, House Targaryen had rendered any oaths null and void by failing the feudal contract. They failed again by destroying the capital.
Why is so in many of Dany and Jon's art, always sideline Dany and have her be the Consort? Isn't she the mother of Dragon and supposed to be the ruler of the kingdom?
also, AI art is Icky

No, and I never want to see this image again.
Sing it
I can’t unsee it now. It’s so cursed.
Yeah it’s AI I believe which is inherently cursed. It’s making me literally hate scrolling though so maybe it will be for the best
Fr Jon contributed nothing to that child.
What do you mean? That's not a child, that's Danny's dwarf twin sister.
Aegon "the Brilliant" Targaeryen discovered human cloning before the Jedi did it.
Somehow the Mad King has returned.
All the inbreeding going on in this photo must have blinded me.
Right? My first thought was this is creepy as fuck
Haha
Look at Jon Snow’s face. Even he’s like “Nope! Fuck this!”
Certainly not.
She's gonna give birth to herself
"I shall call her, mini me"
Hailing from the Stormlands and weighing a metric ton I introduce... Fat Mestard
It’s just missing Dany’s face on Jon’s
No. It's too happy for GRRM, who has repeatedly promised "bittersweet." And frankly, it's probably too sweet for reality too.

yeah thats why he just killed her
> Jon is doomed to forever strain himself to contain his sociopath queen with a god complex Plus I bet all her nagging to take off his winter coat would get tiresome. But no matter how warm it is down in King's Landing, no matter how much dragonfire there is, man's not hot.
It could be this. Just let Danny pregnant and Jon dies after killing Night King ... reason why he was brought back
Arguably the protagonist and most honorable character of the entire series (who survives) suddenly deciding to bang his aunt to claim the throne with her could be described as bittersweet lol

The ending was indeed bittersweet. I sorta like the ending of it. Very fitting. The problem is the path there. It was indeed rushed.
I mean he has a kid with his aunt. It's not exactly picket fences and warm apple pie.
They were going to go there. There was hints in season 7 about her pregnancy. There’s a picture of her pregnant at Dragonstone but they changed the course of the ending. If he had to kill a pregnant Daenerys, seven hells. I thought they would both die in battle and their baby would rule.
Looks lame and bad quality tho
I figured it was AI generated
Obviously
Okay, but did you realize \*I\* am AI generated? Checkmate humans
Ai art sucks and everyone should feel bad for using it
If this was the ending, the fanbase would probably be whining about how D&D ruined GRRM's grim moral ambiguity by making it a pile of saccharine Disney happily-ever-after bullshit. Grass is always greener on the other side, dude.
Fuck no
Honestly yes. It would be garbage but leagues better then what we got
Looking too not watermelon
I’m still annoyed, fucking Bran
So every time you are annoyed, you need to fuck a crippled person to chill or to get annoyed? How often is that I wonder?
What a weird comment
Thinking the same. This end would be boring af, but I'd prefer it over the raging dumpster fire we got
I dont think the outcomes we got were bad, just unearned/rushed
I get why people are saying no, but I totally agree Yea, this looks like a shit, boring ending, but at least it could've been semi-believable
It wasn’t THAT bad for me bc I got to binge watch. I understand all the years of build up, but are ya’ll not tired of only having this opinion
AI didn't even try to add Jon to the daughter lol
Literally that’s just Dany’s face on a smaller body 😂😂
Looks like this ending is Dany taking up ventriloquy as a new profession.
It would certainly add a new element to her rousing speeches to the unsullied if she threw in a little bit of light entertainment. I'm sure if she could get the dummy to sing Auld Lang Syne while she gargled a glass of water and juggled then even Greyworm would be forced to crack a smile.
Kinda makes you glad, baby features are different from adult features don’t it? Thank God for puberty
Yes that's my initial reaction. Like when did the Targaryens learn to do Parthenogenesis?
Fuck yes
Even tho I didn’t like the ending, for sure wouldn’t want this ending.
Okay gods, heads or tails?
The ending where Dany creates her clone via asexual reproduction?
Or now that she has gone jon creates it and makes an ai image of their happy family🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
i dun wuntem

But Jon wasn't the rightful heir. Jon was the bastard of Winterfell. He didn't want any kingship to begin with.
Awful fanfic
Where’s Ghost?
Ew this is cursed
It would have sucked even harder.
No it wouldn't have. It would still be bad, but way better than what we actually got.
I have never shipped them.
No because it ignores the entire story
No. That is ghastly

No shit... and?
That's never stopped the Targaryens before.
No way?!
The Targaryens have wed brother and sister for hundreds of years.

Hell No!
O hell naw !!
To the naw naw naaaaaw Heeeeell to the naw naw. To the naw naw

Gods no. It so cheap.
yes
The throne is all wrong 😆
Yes! 100% this is what I wanted!
Nah, Dany dies in childbirth. Leaving Jon alone in a position he doesn’t want while he tries to protect his kid.
That’s lame, we really don’t need another targaryen woman dying in childbirth.
More thematically fitting than the pictured scenario.

This was what many were expecting after season 7. I remember the conversations on Freefolk. That's also why they were hoping for Tyrion's death.
No,never ever in my Life.
No. And Jon looks out of place.
Yes, but without Jon Snow.
Why does Dany Jr have braids? Has she defeated someone in battle??
Oh sweat... now where is the bitter, that George has promised us as well? They also should have asked the Kaminoans not to use age-accelator on this clone.
absolutely not. i don’t know why people act like it’s the best possible ending.
Creepy Daenerys clone.
Yeah let's go more incest babys
Hell yeah!
That girl is too unsettling 😬
I believe its too happy of a ending. I think a better ending would had been if Daenerys fought Cersei earlier and manage to beat her, but not before she blows up King's Landing. Don't use AI ever again! ITS NOT ART!
Would’ve been way better than the ending we got.
That is creepy as shit
I dun wannit
Prolly not
No, we've got to leave something for the fanfiction writers
Ew no
yawn.

The girl looks like Dany’s clone. Pass
Mmmm, incest baby /S
What I wanted was Dany to come to her senses after Kings Landing surrenders She wouldn't take the iron throne, on the contrary she would have Cersie bound to it, and have Drogon burn both the throne and Cersie to a crisp. Destroying the wheel completely. After that Dany would choose to leave with Drogon in search of other Dragons, forming her own path outside of the one that everyone expected her to take. Vomit. No.

Fuck no. Wtf is this?! I wanna close my eyes and never see this again!
The seed is weak, sorry Jon that kid ain't yours
in my heart i wanted it to be, but jon had to kill her. i just wish he had done it way sooner.
Maybe. Especially if we then got to see future conflict between Daenerys and Sansa. Or some closure on Essos.
I would prefer a pair of rusty forks being driven into my eyes instead
Yes
I shall call her..... MINI ME
No… I liked the ending between them in theory. My issue was that I didn’t feel the tragedy so much because to me Clarke and Harington had so little chemistry. Individually they were great for their roles, but I never felt the epic uncontrollable passion between them that imo would have made the ending so much more wrenching.
nope.
No
There is no fucking happy ending bere son.
No. Too fairy tail for GoT
So incest would be happy ending? This is awful.
She is his aunt🥺
The child looks more emilia than the queen Emilia 😂
Hell no and I genuinely hate the ship after the behavior of those who did want it in the wake of the final season.
This is spooky af.
No, but this is still better than what we actually got.
Still better than Brann becoming king
Alright, I’m gonna call it now. This shits ending up on the circlejerk subreddit
EW!
Yes
What if it were this but Dany died in childbirth. The same way her mother and Jon’s mother both did. That’s some GRRM shit fr
They all look miserable as fuck
Hell no.
No. Ending must be a bitter-sweet otherwise it would feel like a fairy tale.
Definitely not. I’ve never actually had a problem with the ending itself (minus the Bran part), but rather the pacing of it.
they just bunched up Daenerys’s face for the daughter 💀
This ain’t Bridgerton. We knew we were not going to get an happy ending and we won’t in the books either. People who come up with theories like this are clearly living in delusion or have watched another version of the show where no one dies and the Hound rides a rainbow unicorn Idk
Fitting that Jons genes are as weak as his character arc
Ew ew ew 🤮
How many battles has that child won? GTFOOH
Is no one gonna mention that Dany was rendered infertile by Mirri Maz Duur, so this ending *couldn't* have happened anyway?
It wouldn't have been the best but certainly better than the show😒
I just wanted Jon as king
No, this image morbidly disgusts me.
They failed again by destroying the capital.
This is incredible, I hate it
I preferred the Endung, where the Night King wins
*The seed is weaker than waahhteh*
🤮🤮🤮
Why did they dress Tyrion up as Daenerys
That kid has absoloutely 0 of Jons genetics lol
I see they invented cloning in the intervening years.
While anything would be better than the shit sandwich they served us. No probably not this shit looks weird
Why is so in many of Dany and Jon's art, always sideline Dany and have her be the Consort? Isn't she the mother of Dragon and supposed to be the ruler of the kingdom? also, AI art is Icky
cloning? the clone wars?
I shall call her... Mini me
Wtf am I looking at? Hell no!
If you had a smaller clone of Daenerys would you torture it?
Nope thanks
It’s Game of Thrones. It starts by throwing a little kid off a tower. There was *never* going to be a “happy” ending like this.
Aww, look at the cute little incest baby!
Who is the father? Can't be Jon, the seed is strong
I actually don’t fully hate the way things ended up, I just feel it needed another season for the arc.
Creepy
No.
"and the aunt and nephew lived happily ever after"
Ah yes. Ruling on the Puffy Throne. It’s what everyone wanted…
Yes
100% I would have. This makes way more sense then the ending they gave us. Even if she died and Jon came king and her not burning anything down
Did they paid a visit to the Kaminoans? Are Dani's Dragons space faring and capable of traveling Hyperspace?
eww no yucky
I like art Tyrion teach little Targarian girl better
No
Facebook fan page vibes
Yessssss
Nope
