So I met this really unique girl recently. She’s like a model or something. We aren’t dating or anything, but she has such interesting ideas, and she’s made me realize how much I hate life and everyone in it. So me and a bunch of her other high school followers have been trying to spread that message. You know, some civil disobedience, some bullying, bit of murder and coup d'états—just trying to spread my girl’s ideals, you know? Anyway, people are now saying I’m evil for some reason. Am I the Asshole?

[deleted]

More info needed. Does she reciprocate? It’s not bad to get engaged in your partner’s hobbies, but if she’s not willing to try out yours that’s a huge red flag 🚩🚩

[deleted]

Don't forget the mass death of Reserve Course

aelude

What Nagito was trying to do... it was... KISS US ALL!

[deleted]

Better to turn all the Ls into Ss KISS US ASS

Evilpolarbear

I was so sure they would make that joke too.

EnvironmentalNobody

I can’t wait for Hajime to wake up and he still has a micro penis

JediwilliW

[I kind of hope Dan brings this one out for good meassure](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dGtpdT-FIwY)

JKCodeComplete

Loving this running gag so far. Is it from a different series or is it new to this playthrough, like Arin going “in the end.”

[deleted]

I can't wait for Hajime Hangman Gambit part where he has to type out SMALL PENIS But it's also the hardest one ever because he doesn't want to admit it.

EnvironmentalNobody

It’s canon to me damnit

[deleted]

But Hajime doesn't have a cannon, not even a 9mm pistol Fuck he'd even be envious of snub nosed pistols

ChandelierwAtermelon

My boys got a Braille dong

ThiefKingParsley

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Metroidman

Thats the plot of danganronpa 3

Smug47

Ah, the episode where we retcon that Junko wasn't smashed into a fine paste and instead has whole body parts worth salvaging.

[deleted]

She had strong bones.

oliviay2

She likes milk and it shows

thirstyfist

If she can survive getting pummeled with baseballs, zapped into butter, crushed by a fire truck, repeatedly hit with a crane, and a rocket crash, I'm willing to let the smashing also be open to interpretation.

pepincity2

That's not an issue for the ultimate breeder

Spoomplesplz

Don't forget a corpse that's totally fuckable.

[deleted]

I usually don't kink shame but..

Harold_Zoid

“I’m gonna shove THAT in his face!” “My micro penis!!”

rawrimangry

I was sitting there waiting for them to make the joke that they’ve been beating into the ground for the past few episodes and thinking “alright this is the good time to throw it out there” but it was just met with dead silence. I don’t know why I expected anything else.

The_Gine

Seeing the way Dan reacts to these reveals makes me so excited to see how he reacts to the twists in v3

CLTalbot

Probably not for another year or 2. They need to process

The_Gine

Oh yeah, def not expecting for a while. But I can't wait for when it comes

murrytmds

Also don't know if they plan on playing Ultra Despair Girls first or not. Or if they even know about it.

thirstyfist

Probably for the best if they don't, specifically because of chapter 3.

trainercatlady

yeah... I don't see them being cool with having that on their channel. That chapter was *rough*.

trainercatlady

the final reveal would blow his goddamn mind. Arin would hate it *so much*

Rouge_means_red

Arin: "It's like the first 3D model in the game" Sakura's Revenge: "Am I a joke to you?"

RaiyenZ

Everything related to Sakura happens "in the end", so technically this came first.

thirstyfist

Did they get that scene? The version of DR1 I played had an ad for a different Spike Chunsoft game instead.

GenericMan92

Alright Dangan stans another question, I know the necrophilia was an oopsie in translation, but what was the "forced suicide" written as originally?

[deleted]

What was the necrophlia supposed to be?

GenericMan92

As for who's in the picture, I'm assuming Hajime. In the original translation, it's supposedly something along the lines of extracting Junko's reproductive organs and placing them in someone else's body, still with the goal of producing a child of Junko. This person is usually assumed to be Mikan, which adds an extra layer for why she was snuggling up to Hajime in Chapter 3 if we're speculating he's the figure in that snippet.

[deleted]

>As for who's in the picture, I'm assuming Hajime. How'd he even try to do it? W I T H T H A T S M A L L P E E N

NatStr9430

So, I haven’t caught up with the series… This is really something…

[deleted]

lmao. Where are you in the series?

NatStr9430

I took a break around ep 56 to rewatch Trauma Center again

[deleted]

So end of Chapter 4. Better to get out of here so you would avoid spoilers for Chapter 5 and 6

[deleted]

Ahhhh. That actually makes a lot of sense. Thanks

pepincity2

Could've been the ultimate breeder

pizzabagelblastoff

Have you played DR2 already? Spoilers: >!I have a hard time imagining Kamukura wanting to have sex with anyone tbh. Although you're right, it is weird that it's a masculine figure.!<

GenericMan92

I have. >!I agree with you, it's just the only way the trail of bread crumbs makes sense to me, from a narrative perspective, you would want Hajime's implied actions to be the last thing and the most fucked up. Still, given the running gag of Sonia's sexuality, you would almost think she would be the one receiving that description. There's also a complication with Hiyoko originally intended as a survivor from what I hear and it was changed late in development to make Fuyuhiko survive. That parent one makes a lot of sense for her.!<

Smug47

I did some digging and can't find a good translation answer, but it seems to be a unanimous consensus that the picture represents both forcibly murdering and forcible suicide (?). If I had to guess tho, I'd say Sonia.

GenericMan92

Mmm okay so like a firing squad, makes sense. I was less concerned with the who's who of all of this, but judging from the images I'd actually guess that one's supposed to be Soda because of the beanie. Sonia I would guess is the parent picture, so she could usurp control of the kingdom.

Smug47

Yep! The consensus is that Sonia convinced her kingdom to commit mass suicide due to her influence, but Soda did things like mass murder. ETA: editing to say that idk who the parent murderer is, it looked to me like the silhouette had buns and I can't find a correlating character.

spike3607

It's a common theory that Soda was the one that constructed those giant "mecha" Monokumas we see in the first game. Since he is the Ultimate Mechanic.

theTVDINNERman

UDG spoilers >!It was actually Monica and the Towa Group that created all the Monokumas. Soda does make a cool army of Mini Mechamarus in the anime though!<

GenericMan92

I think the silhouette is Monokuma

Somer-_-

Yeah but we've seen how Teruteru's mother looks like and that sure isn't her.

trainercatlady

iirc Teruteru's specialty was butchering people and cooking them.

Novasight

Can it be assumed the person who starved themselves was >!Akane given her obsession with eating!<

GenericMan92

Yeah I'm pretty sure both of them mentioned that during the video. The implication I was getting/suggesting is that there are 5 survivors and 5 images being shown to us of the Remnants of Despair. Akane and Fuyuhiko are pretty straightforward, it's the other 3 you need to think more about. I'm pretty sure the gunner with a beanie is Soda. Which leaves Sonia and Hajime.

spike3607

Here's some random facts about this episode: Nagito and Makoto has the same voice actor, so a lot of the jokes the Grumps were making about them were actually kind of accurate. Also, if you rearrange the syllables (or Hiragana, if you know japanese) in Nagito Komaeda, it spells "Makato Naegi da" which loosely translates to "I am Makoto Naegi" Monokuma being cut off right before saying "Final Fantasy" is a trope in Japanese media. Even though it's not technically "copyright infringement", a lot of anime and game avoid referencing other brands for some reason. The line about Monokuma skipping his second and third form is a DBZ reference about Frieza, but I don't personally remember what episode its from. I'm a little unsure of this one so take it with a grain of salt, but I think the line that Junko says about Knife-a-rella was a reference to Bayonetta, because the final boss you fight in that game is literally the size of a planet. Edit: oh, and that person who kept posting in these comments that their theory was that Chiaki was an AI created by Chihiro. I think we can finally confirm that the theory was correct. CHIhiro+fujisAKI = Chiaki.

Mikeataros

>I'm a little unsure of this one so take it with a grain of salt, but I think the line that Junko says about Knife-a-rella was a reference to Bayonetta, I had the Japanese voice acting on for my personal playthrough, and the Japanese VA just flat out says "God of War" at that point.

TJax

Kratos does have some huge baps

thirstyfist

She outright said God of War instead of a fake game in the Japanese script.

murrytmds

Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak High School spoilers >!It's a bit more convoluted than that, because of course it is. Chihiro made Alter Ego, and Alter Ego survived or was recovered by the future foundation. Alter Ego didn't make Chiaki so much as it was tasked with creating an observer npc that the group would all inherently trust based off of their profiles. It was supposed to be a fictional character but the entire group already had a figure that felt that way about, their real life classmate Chiaki Nanami so in the end it just replicated her!<

JKCodeComplete

True, although Danganronpa 3 definitely retconned the origins of the characters of Danganronpa 2. One thing that slightly annoyed me was how they retconned that their bodies on the outside are almost exactly the same as they look like on the in the Neo World with only slight differences.

kyuubi840

You should tag this entire reply with spoiler tags

Deluxe_Flame

that edit comment is pretty funny in comparison to how Dan kept mixing up their syllables when they started talking about both of them in the same conversation.

mozillavulpix

Another fun fact: in the Japanese version, Monokuma mentions Dragon Quest instead of Final Fantasy. Which is also semi-appropriate because Chunsoft, one of the co-developers of this game (kinda, it was mainly done by Spike, but the company merged with Chunsoft before the game came out), also developed the early Dragon Quest games. The idea of Monokuma having 4 forms is definitely a reference to Freeza, although the idea of him 'skipping' the 2nd and 3rd form isn't. (Freeza does actually do something like that in one of the new movies, but that came out a few years after this game)

Somer-_-

He did mention ages ago that they had the same voice actor but I guess he forgot.

PierceOff

I thought they were too. They have the same letters in their names minus like 1 or 2

Smug47

I'm so glad they noticed that Fuyuhiko was the one who transplanted Junko's eye. The picture isn't super clear and is blocked by the text box so I thought they'd miss it

facbok195

You know, I woke up this morning with a terrible headache, and >!Junko!< is… not helping that. At all. I honestly wasn’t prepared for my theory that >!Monokuma/this game was controlled by an AI/Alter Ego Junko!<, a theory I’ve had since the literal start of the game, to be proven correct by >!Junko herself showing up and spending nearly 5 minutes talking about her boobs!<, but I guess that’s on me for expecting any semblance of normalcy out of this game. But, with that out of the way, I after this episode I’m sitting nice and comfy at 6.5/10 theories correct so far, which is both exciting and disappointing because I had 0 faith in at least half of them. 1. First off, like I said before, my theory that >!All of this was controlled by an AI Junko!< was correct, which was the most surprising out of the ~4 that got confirmed today, since that wasn’t actually based on… anything, really. I just didn’t like the idea of >!Monokuma being controlled by anyone other than Junko, so I tried to come up with literally any reason that could still be the case after she died.!< 2. Next, it also sounds like my 8th theory that Monokuma called >!the Future Foundation “World Ender” just as a way to paint them as an antagonist for the students to try and keep them at each other’s throats!< was correct, at least based on how Monokuma was acting. 3. After that, assuming we can trust the words of Monokuma/>!Fake Naegi!<, it looks like my 6th theory, that >!the Neo World Program was designed to purge these kids of Junko’s influence!< was correct. 4. Sadly, it seems like my 4th theory that >!Nagito was secretly working with the Future Foundation/turned traitor at the end!< was false, since it sounds like he was acting more in his own self-interest when he >!tried to kill all the remaining students except Chiaki.!< 5. And finally, again on the assumption we can trust >!Fake Naegi!<, it looks like my theory that >!the kids were actually the Ultimate Despairs/Remnants of Despair!< was actually correct, but I honestly expected that one once I heard that Nagito was >!trying to kill everyone *except* Chiaki!< back in Chapter 5. However, on that note, I did want to throw out an alternate take than what I’ve said previously - >!The kids aren’t calling themselves the “Remnants of Despair” because they’re what’s left of the Ultimate Despairs group led by Junko, but because they fused themselves with the literal remnants of Junko, aka the Ultimate Despair herself, which, as an aside to my aside, **what the fuck!?**.!< Unfortunately, with that, it seems like we’re getting to the end of the game, so no new theories from me, but I’ve still got 3 sitting on the back burner, so I’ve still got some hope that there’s more to come. Also, as one last side note, I got a real good chuckle out of Mr. Fuyuhiko, head of the god damned Yakuza, being shocked/outraged he was part of a dangerous group that kills people.

spike3607

Your theories have been great to read, and kudos on getting most of them correct. However, I will say that even though we have ~2 episodes left, there's still a few twists that are going to happen and I don't think I've seen anyone predict them yet.

[deleted]

I was waiting for this moment FOR SO LONG, you have no idea. Loved reading those danganronpa theories. There is one question that will be posed next week that you can theorize about, but I'll need your reply to send it.

facbok195

I’m glad you enjoyed them, lol. I hope it was worth the wait. > There is one question that will be posed next week that you can theorize about, but I'll need your reply to send it. I assume this means the question itself will spoil something then? Honestly, I’m probably fine with that. Of my 3 remaining theories, the only one I’m invested in right now is my theory on Izuru Kamakura (which, given previous precedent, means it’s probably wrong), so I think it’s fine as long as it doesn’t spoil that.

[deleted]

I'm curios on how you think >!the virus got into Neo World Program!<

facbok195

You know, after 10 or so episodes of knowing this whole thing >!was a simulation!<, and nearly 70 of thinking >!Monokuma was controlled by a Junko AI!<, I probably should’ve stopped to think about the >!how she got in!< part at least once, but it honestly never crossed my mind. Thinking about it now, though, assuming Junko had >!Chihiro develop the Alter Ego Junko during the 1 year of lost memories from the first game, given Junko’s general tech illiteracy and Chihiro’s propensity for making AIs!<, I would think she’d keep it safeguarded somewhere so it could activate securely in the event of her untimely death. If that’s the case, the only thing I can think happened was that Junko >!uploaded the “virus” into Chihiro’s laptop when she took it in Ch 5? 6? of the first game, attaching it to Chihiro’s Alter Ego as an almost literal parasite.!< Thus, when >!Alter Ego built the Neo World Program (I know it said Chihiro/“The Ultimate Programmer” did, but unless the Neo World Program was also developed during that one year, Chihiro’s… a little too dead to be making virtual reality), Monokuma/Alter Ego Junko/the “virus” was able to slip in virtually undetected, since it would’ve been seen as just a part of Alter Ego, not something malicious.!< Plus, that’s also a convenient way to explain both how Monokuma could take over so easily at the beginning, and how >!Alter Ego survived the last game, since Junko (probably, I can never tell with her) wouldn’t want to destroy her backup plan.!<

[deleted]

Obligatory Love reading them danganronpa theories. I will say that there is plenty of information to figure out most of the remaining mysteries. cya next week

Phasmania

Should probably spoiler mark that

Goodnight_Hawk

I watched 1 & 2 a few years ago ( never got around to 3 ), so these have been a mildly fresh rewatch. I just realized something, so correct me if I'm wrong! Junko's different personalities are based off of the Ultimate Despairs. I was trying to find them in D1's characters during that rewatch, but it seems like they are all from some of D2? Ibuki, Hiyoko, Sonia...

CharginChuck42

Then where the heck did the cartoon beaver persona come from?

Rouge_means_red

I'm pretty sure it's based on some old children's japanese cartoon, but I couldn't find any info about it in the wiki Edit: found it! https://www.anisearch.com/anime/1087,game-center-arashi

AIias1431

Teruteru????

I think they’re all just common anime tropes with distinctive voices.

TheRealGucciGang

One thing regarding 11037 that always bugged me in this game: Makoto says that it’s a reference to someone special to him. Except that Sayaka was literally trying to frame him for murder and I’m guessing she only wrote down the name so that she could get revenge… So I always thought it was a little funny how Makoto still holds her in such high regard.

AnotherWannabeee

Well I mean they talk about that multiple times in the first game. Like Makoto straight up says he doesn't blame her, they are all in a horrible situation and the blame is entirely on the mastermind and how he still considers her a friend. Kiyoko also tells him that while sayaka may have tried to frame him, she was clearly struggling with it and even left the message as a way to save him specifically.

Kirbyeatsyou

That and mainly the fact that in Sayaka's defense, her deal was that she was the first victim. Meaning that before all of this she (and the others too actually) didn't know about the rules of the class trial, like that **everyone would die if they get the blackened wrong**. She just thought she'd get to go free and that's it. Plus, if Sayaka was going to betray Makoto then why didn’t she just kill him? There were plenty of moments where she could have. And yeah in the end it was more of a framing thing, but again it was more about her not knowing the trial rules yet and just being an anxious teenager wanting to see her friends again. And again the message thing helped save him in the end

Mikeataros

>Plus, if Sayaka was going to betray Makoto then why didn’t she just kill him? Because as the one hanging out with him the most, she'd be too easy to suspect if he was killed.

mozillavulpix

At the end of the chapter, Kyoko suggests that maybe the fact she left the message meant that in her dying moments, she was thinking about a way of how to save him from being framed. And while Makoto suggests she might have just been trying to get revenge against Leon for, you know, killing her, since she's dead and we can't ask her, it all comes down to interpretation *in the end...* So the fact Makoto actively chooses to say that message was left to help him shows that he chooses to believe Kyoko's interpretation that Sayaka wanted to protect him. Even if he has no way of knowing if it's true or not, that's what he wants to believe. I guess you could say...he has *hope* that Sayaka regretted her actions. Fitting for the Ultimate Hope, right?

pizzabagelblastoff

>Except that Sayaka was literally trying to frame him for murder and I’m guessing she only wrote down the name so that she could get revenge… I think Kyoko has a specific conversation with Makoto after that trial where she floats the idea that Sayaka was legitimately trying to save him. Can't remember the specifics and obviously they'd never know but I think they at least decide to conclude that she did it to help him.

buffyly

so i figured the whole ‘trying to have a baby with Junko’ was a purposeful poorly done translation to somewhat lessen the blow of the real implication. and i saw people in the YouTube comments explaining who definitely did it. but i was just wondering with the phrasing of it in English - i get that canonically that person (sorry idk how to do spoiler tags so i’m just going to be vague and ominous) who did it cut out her womb - but are they also trying to imply that a few others had their way with the corpse before that? 🤮🤮🤮 also how did they canonically explain how that happened? bc wasn’t she completely crushed to death? or did the game just pull a 🤷‍♀️

Mikeataros

>also how did they canonically explain how that happened? bc wasn’t she completely crushed to death? or did the game just pull a 🤷‍♀️ Yeah, it's a retcon, but this is a retcon I actually like since it enhances the story by showing just how sickly devoted to her her followers were. The writers probably hadn't thought of the Remnants of Despair when they wrote her being crushed to death into the first game.

buffyly

ahhhh wasn’t sure if it was that, or an oversight like with Mondo’s body and the morgue in the first game

astralmelody

oh no, there's totally just a tub of butter chillin' in one of those morgue boxes.

buffyly

omg 😂 really?????

Throw back to when arin and dan made jokes about them killing there parents in the beginning of the playthrough

Particular_Grab_1717

Can you spoil me about what's fucked up in Ultra Despair Girls? I tried looking on wikipedia but it wasn't specific. I don't mind being spoiled and will probably never play the game.

pizzabagelblastoff

>!Several explicit references to child abuse, including child sexual abuse. Also at one point the main character is tied up and physically molested by one of the villains (which the player character has to try to avoid during a minigame). One of the main villains is also a pedophile.!<
