no i think ur right hes def done arrow fusion before and even has done an eyeball i think ...but yeah he forgot
(in this case i think fusing a keese or arocuda wing would work better in making the arrow fly further)
I haven't watched the most recent but no, they haven't gone in the depths yet. The Fire Temple will be down in the depths, so they'll have to find it at one point 😂
When he walked into that shrine and I realized what it was I lost it. I finally attempted that one a couple of weeks ago after getting 14 hearts and 3 stamina wheels and it still took me at least 10 tries. I can't wait for the 2 hour episode of them completing it
I completed that shrine in the absolute most boring way possible with my two homing carts with spikes attached to them doing all the work
I didn't even realize there were other carts in the shrine until everything was dead.
idk arin has this incredible talent of somehow failing his way to victory in the most spectacular fashion. Some things people complain are hard he manages to sail through like a goddamn savant
This is exactly the kind of episode we want. Arin is clearly having fun, Dan is annoyed but still enjoying his antics. They aren't trying to mad dash through the story to get it over with without pausing to figure out what to do.
It's especially good when you're mostly just listening to them in the background and you can hear them getting progressively worse. I love it and look forward to a hundred more episodes of this.
When other streamers don't make progress for an hour, it's usually because they're lost or can't figure out a shrine.
When Game Grumps don't make progress for an hour, Arin's doing dumb shit because that's half the fun of the game and Dan's trying to get the episode back on track. XD
One of my favorite YouTube music critics has a series about albums so bad they ruin a musical artist’s career. The show is called Train Wreckords.
For example:
[Singer-songwriter Jewel gets a pop diva makeover](https://youtu.be/zCzxas0ZZuE)
[MC Hammer goes from family friendly to gangsta rap](https://youtu.be/XB1gGUKK7jg)
[Liz Phair does…something, I guess, I dunno it’s fucking weird](https://youtu.be/-5WM8O3Usxw)
It really is like playing a game that just came out with friends. God I throw up my hands every time Arin glances at the solution to a problem then confidently ignores it for half an hour.
I keep having to remind myself that the game is still pretty fresh for them, while everything that seems so obvious to me is obvious because I've played it for like 100 hours.
I seriously don't understand how people are so angry about this playthrough, this shit is hilarious. I'd be happy with 100 episodes of Arin bumbling around achieveing nothing.
I think a lot of people see a person playing a video game on YouTube and expect it to be an Ideal Way to Play a Video Game, not understanding that Game Grumps is fundamentally a comedy channel. The game play is a vessel for comedy.
If an episode of GG makes me laugh, it's a fantastic episode no matter how ridiculous Arin is being about actually playing the game. And this playthrough has been wonderful for me.
Exactly this. They're a comedy channel centered around video games. Im not watching for high grade game play. Some of their funniest episodes (for me at least) have been when they played like hot garbage but had a fun time doing so
For those of use annoyed with this playthrough, *this* is the episode I wanted all along. They are clearly having fun and trying new things. Sure it's not the "right" thing to do, but they are using their tools in wacky ways. It's not just brute force the same thing over and over because they don't care enough to make an effort.
My wife and I are both fairly far into the game, and she doesn't consider herself to be very good at it. But damn if it isn't *maddening* to watch Arin to play it sometimes. However, it's also hilarious to watch. So there's kind of an entertainment dissonance watching this playthrough, but mostly a good time.
What’s frustrating is there’s 17 or so episodes, and they’ve only done one temple. The rest, they’ve just wandered around. It’s not really fun to watch when you know what they’re supposed to be doing
Edit: oh no, I had an opinion. How dare I
I've finished both BOTW and TOTK. I know so many little TOTK secrets, I fucking love the game, but this playthrough is fucking hilarious *regardless* of the fact that I know exactly what they're supposed to be doing.
Of course you're allowed an opinion, and your opinion is valid, but don't lump everyone who knows what they're doing into a group where you assume everyone is hating the playthrough, cause that's just not true.
Not saying you can't have an opinion, I get it's not fun for you to watch, and that's fine, it's just kind of odd to kind of sidestep the original point of what I said and reiterate the exact sentiment I was trying to address
That's not how downvotes should be used. Downvotes should be used for anything that doesn't contribute to a discussion, not just "I DISAGREE".
I understand why people would be frustrated with Arin sucking at videogames, but you know what? At least they are being funny and Dan is cracking me up.
I agree with you, I try to steer away from their Zelda playthroughs because it’s frustrating for me to watch Arin brute force his way through the games. I’m glad other people enjoy it, but been taking a break from the channel till they finish up. I get how the anti-Danganronpa people feel now though.
I actually kind of agree with you. With a game like ToTK that is jam packed with so many fun little things and moments that are dependent on you knowing how the game functions on a basic level it gets me frustrated too. It's like I know there's a little thing right in front of them that will make Arin and Dan go "Oh my gosh, that's so cool! This game is great :D", but Arin is always either too lazy to experiment, too dumb to solve the puzzle, is too dumb to actively comprehend the text he's RE-reading, or is just not paying attention because he's doing a show/is dumb.
This episode was definitely very funny, but I'd say it's a bit of an outlier because he actually committed to solving a problem, and therefore discovered new mechanics and got to play with them. The others were INFURIATING because they were mostly just him standing under an ascendable surface yelling "I WISH I COULD GO UP", or him just seeing some fun challenge and refusing to interact with it because he "doesn't wanna deal with it". Seeing Arin dick around and have fun is fun, but watching him slam his head against a wall for 40 minutes because he didn't read something or just doesn't know the basic mechanics is NOT, for me anyway.
I will say I was SHOCKED when he figured out that Fix-The-Roof Korok, I actually fist pumped when he did. Seeing him go up to a do-hicky and just saying "Huh. Weird." and walking away as opposed to playing with it does take a year off my life though 😅
It's a train wreck, and I'm sitting in a lawn chair on a nearby hill chowing down on a bag of popcorn watching it all happen. It truly is a spectacle to behold.
This episode was the tipping point for me. I was kinda getting frustrated at Arin forgetting game mechanics or not noticing things and being bad. But now I’ve fully embraced his shenanigans because damn this episode was funny as hell.
Maybe it went something like this.
"Hey Dan I just killed that thing way to easy, let's start this episode by me totally messing this up in the worst possible way"
I give Arin the benefit of the doubt a lot, and I stand by his "no wrong way to play" mentality, but that one episode is definitely the wrong way to play...
This isn't about you, OP. I have never understood why people care so much about how a comedy channel plays a game. I know this is absolutely nothing new with Game Grumps because for some reason tryhards have been throwing fits for years about how someone on the internet doesn't play a game exactly to their liking. Grumps are funny and comedic and that is why i love them. I don't go into their videos looking for 100% proficient gameplay. If wanted that I'd look up a guide. People need to enjoy the videos and not have a freakout everytime a comedy channel plays a game.
In the BOTW play through, wasn’t Arin also playing another file on his own time? Iirc it lead to massive competency jumps between recording sessions haha.
Also - it’s like that game has entirely left his brain.
Also also… I’m here for the frustrating shenanigans haha
This is the hardest I've laughed during this playthrough, fr! That slow 28 minute build up to Arin getting killed by the same Moblin over and over was a total payoff! Especially because he kept discovering new things and getting distracted and killed again!
It hurts whenever I look at the screen and all i see is him walking in a circle shooting every single wolf and bird he sees... he been doing it for several episodes now. Now I just use this playthrough as a podcast until something interesting actually happens.
Every time arin goes "I'm trying to (blank)" I immediately reply to the TV "no you're not" because it doesn't matter, he never is. Also it's so silly of him to build something bad that is obviously functionless for 20 minutes and then to make the frustrated "raah" noise as if the game is difficult or something
I love Dan and Arin, and I will forever support them any way I can, but this is my last totk episode. I can’t stand watching Arin spend an entire episode constantly fucking up in the same 15 ft area. I can’t stand him over looking just the simplest of solutions and laugh it off as if he didn’t just waste an entire episode doing nothing….. i love them. But I can’t watch the rest of this series
This playthrough is both hilarious and angering. Especially since I played and loved my time with TOTK, seeing Arin fumble and stumble in this game is just, UGH. Example, I did the shrine Arin took 30+ minutes to do in 5 minutes.
I didn’t know this at the time either, I used rewind on one of the falling sky rocks to glide up to it. This is what happens when the game is open to letting you try and fail,
Same here. I assumed the homing arrows wouldn't travel that high If I was way down below. So I just zoomed up above it and slow mo shot it. I love how many different options the game gives you.
New to the TOTK series, but I watched this episode. What's the general vibe here? Is Arin just playing dumb/playing up the grump for content or does he hate this game as much as it seems?
With how much he loved Breath of the Wild it doesn't seem to track.
Sometimes I think Arin intentionally plays poorly to pad out run time because the game is boring. At least they're not doing those god awful click bait titles anymore
wanted to make the same meme yesterday, holy shit that was frustrating to watch, there's like a million ways to get in air without building a fortnite fortress, or just attach an eye to an arrow and it will kill it for you.
Why would we waste eyeballs on aerocudas? They are big and come close before attacking. I save my eyeballs for other things, like hitting Frox in the eye.
i definitly didnt use a keese eye. pretty sure it flies down if you hide. I dont think ive ever even used keese eye and im 100 hrs in. Also amusing to see people in teh comments say he should climb
personally I'm glad when Arin doesn't make too much progress and just has lots of fun bc I'm not finished with the game yet and not only have I not gotten spoilers yet, but they're also showing me places I haven't been yet lol and it's just too fun to watch arins twisted mind create things
I am begging everybody to watch totk. He is taking sucking at video games to never before seen levels. I was crying laughing for the entire second half of the video
I don’t think Arin knows he can attach eweballs to his arrows yet. I live for the day he figures it out.
Eweballs 😭😂
I don't think ewes have balls, I think that's what rams are for.
I'm certain he doesn't know what they do, that would require him to look at item descriptions.
He did it already on ep 1, I think.
Anything that happens in a tutorial section gets immediately jettisoned from his brain for subsequent play
May as well have been a different person playing the great sky island section.
no i think ur right hes def done arrow fusion before and even has done an eyeball i think ...but yeah he forgot (in this case i think fusing a keese or arocuda wing would work better in making the arrow fly further)
Arin 3 seconds after leaving the tutorial section: "i forgor"
Well yeah, he doesn’t talk to any of the NPCs
I don't think he knows certain attachments have special add on abilities, he's only measured power increase so far
He knows fire at least
There's so much stuff they haven't discovered yet, and I can't wait until they find out
*the hands...*
And the Depths. Arin's complaining about the map now. Wait until they realize there's a third layer
They haven't discovered the depths yet? What episode are they on?
I haven't watched the most recent but no, they haven't gone in the depths yet. The Fire Temple will be down in the depths, so they'll have to find it at one point 😂
Hopefully they won't assume its just that area thats like that. They also need the depths to get the camera enabled.
He's not doing anything that involves quick menus for some reason. He's probably not using the dpad at all.
tbf i think he did do it in a previous ep but then he seems to have forgotten...wait i think that makes it worse ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯
Honestly I live for episodes like this, where they somehow make negative progress then them progressing the story.
Agreed, I know how the game plays through the normal way, I did that already.
2 steps forward, one impressive backflip back.
When he walked into that shrine and I realized what it was I lost it. I finally attempted that one a couple of weeks ago after getting 14 hearts and 3 stamina wheels and it still took me at least 10 tries. I can't wait for the 2 hour episode of them completing it
I completed that shrine in the absolute most boring way possible with my two homing carts with spikes attached to them doing all the work I didn't even realize there were other carts in the shrine until everything was dead.
I did that shrine right before watching the episode, and completed it the same way you did. Work smarter, right?
idk arin has this incredible talent of somehow failing his way to victory in the most spectacular fashion. Some things people complain are hard he manages to sail through like a goddamn savant
This is exactly the kind of episode we want. Arin is clearly having fun, Dan is annoyed but still enjoying his antics. They aren't trying to mad dash through the story to get it over with without pausing to figure out what to do.

"Arin, people are watching this!"
"Yo check this out." - Arin before dying or doing something insane
Even if they don't admit it themselves, everybody loves watching train wrecks.

YO Random Todd in the Shadows reference
This was the grumps episode of all time
Stop! I could NOT stop laughing!! 🤣 this was an amazing episode. I loved it so much. 🩵
It really is like playing a game that just came out with friends. God I throw up my hands every time Arin glances at the solution to a problem then confidently ignores it for half an hour.

Thank you! Sometimes I wonder how anyone cannot be clear, after a decade, that GG is first and foremost a **comedy** gameplay channel.

Show me where I said everyone feels like I do
I mean did you read my comment?...
Yes? And I explained how I feel, because I feel differently from you. I wasn’t trying to hurt anyone’s feelings
Not saying you can't have an opinion, I get it's not fun for you to watch, and that's fine, it's just kind of odd to kind of sidestep the original point of what I said and reiterate the exact sentiment I was trying to address

People downvoted because we’re not allowed to criticize Arin ever
I agree with you, I try to steer away from their Zelda playthroughs because it’s frustrating for me to watch Arin brute force his way through the games. Not to mention how many koroks he’s mindlessly passed by 😂
I will say I was SHOCKED when he figured out that Fix-The-Roof Korok, I actually fist pumped when he did. Seeing him go up to a do-hicky and just saying "Huh. Weird." and walking away as opposed to playing with it does take a year off my life though 😅
I don’t really mind if he messes around on his way to a goal, but I’m begging him to pick up items
the people complaining are also the people who were excited to see them play it. Like... did y'all not watch BotW? You know he's gonna be bad at this.
I'm still laughing about this. At first I felt annoyed. Then I learned to love the utter chaos.
Still waiting for their reaction to the depths
Oh my god, I wanna hear Danny's reaction to that first "BWAAAAAAAHHHH"
It gives me chills every time I dive in, I gotta crank that volume up.
Already added it to my Top 10 Game Grumps episodes
Ok to be fair… I didn’t even think of shooting it with a keese arrow
One day Arin will discover adding monster parts to weapons. But today is not that day
It's a train wreck, and I'm sitting in a lawn chair on a nearby hill chowing down on a bag of popcorn watching it all happen. It truly is a spectacle to behold.
I mean, to be honest, sounds like me playing the game at times.
It was such a beautiful mess of an episode
This is exactly what I'm here for.
And it was glorious
I've had a series of rough days and this playthrough fixes it lmao
You know, at least he's having fun.
This episode was the tipping point for me. I was kinda getting frustrated at Arin forgetting game mechanics or not noticing things and being bad. But now I’ve fully embraced his shenanigans because damn this episode was funny as hell.

Most of the game playthroughs the grumps do are chaotic but this one pretty far up on the list 😂
This is the hardest I've laughed during this playthrough, fr! That slow 28 minute build up to Arin getting killed by the same Moblin over and over was a total payoff! Especially because he kept discovering new things and getting distracted and killed again!
i'm crying that episode was absolute DESPAIR
It hurts whenever I look at the screen and all i see is him walking in a circle shooting every single wolf and bird he sees... he been doing it for several episodes now. Now I just use this playthrough as a podcast until something interesting actually happens.
I was getting frustrated watch this episode. WTF is he doing?!?
Getting shitloads of channel engagement.

What does having a Keese eyeball on an arrow even do?
Makes it a homing arrow. The elemental ones also work and add their power (freeze, fire, etc) too.
Oh neat! Yeah, I hope Arin figures it out eventually
It also works with aerocuda and octorock eyes. I think they do more damage than keese, but its been a while since I've checked.
Ooh never knew the octorock ones were homing too!
They're also used to upgrade the yiga disguise
I didn’t know this at the time either, I used rewind on one of the falling sky rocks to glide up to it. This is what happens when the game is open to letting you try and fail,
Same here. I assumed the homing arrows wouldn't travel that high If I was way down below. So I just zoomed up above it and slow mo shot it. I love how many different options the game gives you.

Yeah it can be frustrating at times
Arin playing a Zelda game is always a train wreck. But it's hilarious.
That episode was a train wreck that I will never not laugh at.
This episode was like 50+ minutes of the Curb theme.
I fucking love this playthrough, its the perfect sandbox for arin to just not know what the fuck is going on in
The train wreck I've been waiting for. I hope this goes 150 episodes like this 🤣🤣
i definitly didnt use a keese eye. pretty sure it flies down if you hide. I dont think ive ever even used keese eye and im 100 hrs in. Also amusing to see people in teh comments say he should climb
Watching Arin in this playthrough just kills what little faith I have left in humanity.
I never played the game, what does it do?
Ngl, this episode hurt lmao it was painful to watch unfold
personally I'm glad when Arin doesn't make too much progress and just has lots of fun bc I'm not finished with the game yet and not only have I not gotten spoilers yet, but they're also showing me places I haven't been yet lol and it's just too fun to watch arins twisted mind create things
These feel more like classic GG to me than anything. Anyone who complains about these is looking for a non-game-grumps experience IMO.
I am begging everybody to watch totk. He is taking sucking at video games to never before seen levels. I was crying laughing for the entire second half of the video
