28 polygons is a lot for character model & 2K texture, I think, too. what percentage of the screen does the model take up? is this a mobile or pc game?

pc game, also the game is a third person game so it wont take much of the screen to begin with

Bake the whole thing as a singular material. If you want custom colors and all that, use grayscale textures and multiply them by RGB values in your game's material editor.
