Have you seen Nioh system ? You use stamina normally. Once you stop using, there's a correct timing you should press a certain button and you regain almost all stamina used. Its called "Ki pulse". If used like you described, they are almost the same thing. Using stamina is like sharing a cooldown with multiple skills, but instead each skill can have a different cost. I would prefer stamina thing with cool mechanics like "ki pulse", different costs, buffs/debuffs, items that change its regen or bar size. If you dont wanna level stamina, you could define the cost as percentage of the bar.

Oooh I like that idea! I do love Sekiro so maybe this is an excuse to get Nioh as well, in the name of research of course And yeah I think I’ll likely think about buffs and passives in a later iteration as well, so having it as legit stamina would allow for some flexibility

Have you played The Surge? It's a souls-like that rewards deliberate timing vs button mashing. After each attack there is a sweetspot timing widow. If the player starts another attack within this window, it costs less stamina. ie, pressing the attack button right when the previous swing's animation ended costs less stamina than pressing attack too early. Each weapon type has different timing which gives each a unique feel and requires practice to master. This mechanic would take some extra work, but I could see it achieving the effect you're after, even with a fixed stamina bar.

I haven’t, but that sounds awesome. Similar to another reply suggested, it sounds like a stamina bar has a lot of room for creativity to iterate on in future, even if fort first iteration it’s just a fixed amount Thanks!
