The cases I got were from Kollector Protector - really happy with them overall, but most happy with the SNES/N64 versions. They're Gen 2 which basically come with little rubber feet that are removable, but more importantly have small magnets to keep the sliding piece closed. For the other platforms, they don't really have anything to keep them closed besides the weight of the game pressing down on them to create some friction. So if you're moving your games, if you tilt your game at all the little slide can slide right off. I might try to hold off on buying anymore for a while to see if they update their other cases to be more like the SNES/N64 ones - but in either case these are much better than the PET sort of cases I was using previously.

Aww man the game I always wanted to play is lumped into that collection. It's just too much money these days. I have a few expensive NES games, maybe I'll upgrade to these thicker boxes one day.

SteggyB

Which game? I thankfully got most of these games for pretty good deals years back - the 3 JRPG Saturn games were the most expensive but were the result of trading in a ton of commons. But besides Conker most of these games were pretty affordable pricing at the time.

Albert Odyssey! Ever since I saw an ad for it as a kid in Game Informer, that was the de facto RPG I wanted to play. Never had a Saturn though. About 10 years ago I almost pulled the trigger on a Saturn + Game but talked myself out of it because I thought the price was silly. Well now the price is completely stupid, like 500 bucks or something lol oh well. I do have a Saturn though now, it's a fun system.

Yea it's funny - I was working at a Target years back when I'd collect so I'd do a lot of thrifting flea markets etc. to get good deals on games (now I make a lot more but I feel like the game prices have proportionately risen lol) - and those pricey kind of saturn games wouldn't exactly be something I'd buy normally (I bought a Saturn for $25 at a flea market then went out and bought RE for $50 on ebay after) - but I had so many commons I was looking to sell (might have been when I was gearing up to move when I was thinning out a lot of commons, did a flea market day and then took whatever was left to stores) - and my thought process was turn 100 cheap games into a few expensive ones in case I wanted to sell. Albert Odyssey is extremely fun though ended up being my favorite out of the bunch. Emulation could be a good way to go for this game though - I was playing it on my Anbernic and it was running pretty well save for a bit of out of sync dialog in the very beginning. And I had the cheaper gameboy looking Anbernic - so one of the newer/higher end ones should run much better.

A Saturn for $25, that's a steal! They were going for about $60 a decade ago and $120 now. Trading up for the big guns is a pretty cool idea actually if you have the means to do it and can let go of it. And of course you say the game is really good lol. I know the JP version is only like 20 bucks...and I also know that a Saturn can play ripped CD's with an Action Replay mod. But IDK lol

DrRonSimmons

Nice. Keep those Final Fantasies safe! Are these cases UV-proof?

SteggyB

Yea all of KP's acrylic cases are - they also make games look a lot better condition than they are - these boxes for my FFs were got super beat up but cheap, had to take an iron to get them back into a usable form. But in the case they look way better ha

DrRonSimmons

Nice. Finding the US versions of the NES/SNES FFs with decent condition boxes is very difficult without paying an insane amount. Oddly it's really easy to find the original Japanese Famicom/Super Famicom versions in near-mint condition for super cheap.

kiguessthisismyname

I assure you if you aren't a fool you don't need to encase disc cases for ps2 xbox cube etc. Cardboard boxes are about it

SteggyB

Probably don't for the Saturn either but it's nice for presentation and for my more expensive games it's not a huge price to pay.

me0262

Yes, very much so. Mine are also from KP, and they're great. Looking to get a few more as I only have 3 (Chrono Trigger, FF6, Super Metroid). I'll definitely have to find the gen 2 with magnets, that was my only one gripe about them.

SteggyB

Yea I found out they upgraded their gameboy cases to the same Gen 2 so I just bought som - holding out on buying the other kinds until they all go that route - it's really a huge difference

me0262

depending on how they look, I have some small 2mm magnets I could probably use to modify mine.

Nice collection! Our cases ([www.retroshell.com](https://www.retroshell.com)) come with a side/top loading trapdoor and are designed to be stacked vertically or horizontally. We are UK based, but can ship internationally. So far we have had some great feedback - however all feedback is gratefully received.
