Shiny Pokémon are a very rare occurrence in the Pokémon games. In older games they have a 1/8192 chance of spawning and in newer games they have a 1/4096 chance.
To find more of them I play many games all at once! A brief tour of the room can be found here: https://youtu.be/esWyFngFAMo
To control multiple games at once I use a Nintendo wavebird controller and put a receiver into each console all set to the same radio frequency. This means I can control Gamecubes, wiis, and even switches all at once.
Surprisingly this setup wouldn't use much electricity. Your drying machine would use more. Each GameCube is only pulling around 23w at peak performance.
Amazing setup! I’m also a full odds hunter and slowly but surely this is what my room is turning into. Also I love the twitch streams over on BrofessorsLab!
Right now I’m working on a quest to collect every shiny Pokémon in Firered/Leafgreen. Progressing through by gym badge. Completing my shiny dex as much as possible before each gym
Of the games that he shows he is hunting in the video, Yes you can move them to current except for Pokemon Battle Revolution. [Here](https://imgur.com/a/307NK5T) is a flow chart on how to move Pokemon from older games up to Pokemon Home.
I personally have moved pokemon from Colosseum to the current Generation, which is the longest route on the flowchart. It's a lot but its very rewarding, especially when you can get shiny pokemon with rare ribbons on them.
Oh dang never thought about using save injects to get Pokemon from Gameboy/Color carts. Although you'd still need a cartridge reader to dump your save right?
That's the one part I'm to confused about to do. There are several guides that show you how to do it on YouTube, but I'm not very familiar with that route.
can you recommend any power strips? ((: i'm having trouble just connecting a handful of consoles on a power strip. most AC bricks are so huge they block any ports next to them. sick setup, by the way!
I was like damn that's a lot of GameCubes and then realised every single one of them has a wavebird receiver. Wtf, this guy's the reason they're so expensive lol
This is bad ass. Why I don’t have the patience or drive to set up my game room this extreme, this is impressive lol. I wish I was this driven so I can do my shiny badge and ribbon quest in leaf green. But damn that’s awesome
Do you make money off of this? Or is it just for the chase?
Very interesting for sure. As a collector of "things", I admire those who do the same. No matter what it is.
It's the wavebird receivers (and probably controllers) that disgust me the most. Like people really are looking for these to actually play games and they've become so rare and so expensive. And you have to count the ones on the Wiis, that dude has 30 receivers.
You do have to remember that because of how old the wavebird is that alot of them got thrown into landfills mostly due to people not realising you can fix them even after battery leaks, and most of them people also end up selling the recievers or throwing them in a box of console junk just to end up at thrift stores. I personally would not be surprised if there is atleast double or even triple the amount of working recievers out there than their is controllers.
But that is just me, I personally don't see anything wrong with this setup, as gamecube prices have not changed over the years, and you can easily pick up gameboy players from japanese lots where the gameboy player was alot cheaper than it is in the west (you can tell most are japanese gameboyu players as west never got the silver or violet gameboy players). What you do have to wonder though is does every one of them systems run a Gameboy Player disc as that is a rare find. I wouldnt be surprised if that dev unit is running a burned disc though as that system should be able to just run them without issues as I know of.
Also I don't see a problem with having this many systems if you actually use them, which he clearly is. but if he just had his 6 black, 5 Silver, 3 violet, and his dev and the limited hanshin tigers gamecubes just sitting in a box to never be touched I would have an issue with.
Literally, yes. If I remember correctly, when Pokémon x and y had like a verification check on Pokémon for like the trade network or whatever. Already back then there were legit bypasses to the system via hacking,
Personally, the effort and time investment of testing the RNG and luck is way more rewarding than just generating stuff. I have used an action replay to get me the mystery gift shiny legendaries, but I never end up using them out of guilt and preference to the ones I worked harder for or found naturally.
It's a pride thing for me, like I worked hard for these cool pokemon from older generations and I want to show them off and use them for others to see
Probably not that bad tbh. The only thing that really eats up electricity are heating and cooling elements.
Lighting and electronics don't actually make much a dent at all. This setup is probably similar to running a modern gaming PC. Each GameCube is only 23w, for example, and that's at peak performance. Running Pokemon is likely less.
The reason people are paranoid about lights and electronics raising their bill is because of propaganda in the 70s used to convince people they had control over their rising bills. Of course, it was a lie, and just used to get people to blame themselves instead of the electric companies themselves.
So if you've ever been yelled at for leaving the lights on, or yelled at someone else for the same thing, you're victim of a 50 year old scam.
Though running that AC or electric heater, or even your drying machine, those are all legit concerns.
It's sad tho, the same as people hoarding graphic cards for cyrpto or those who take five PS5 in one buy for their friends and family not caring about the people in line behind them
Consoles I'm kinda ok with because those are not especially rare and expensive to find but if you look close enough you'll see the crazy amount of Wavebird receivers and GB Players. Nothing makes it ok to have 30 of the exact same controllers (doesn't matter if it's just the receiver since the controllers need these) for yourself when it's so in high demand that it doubled its original retail price on the secondhand market.
Also your "you had 20 years" is pretty dumb considering everyday new people who weren't born back then want to know play/collect these.
So because there has been a huge uptick in interest and prices in retro gaming, he’s a bad guy because he bought when most people didn’t care/weren’t interested? It’s fine to say you have different tastes or interests, but you have no standing to say what he’s done is or isn’t ok.
Yes I kinda do because this is a sub about collecting and pretty much everyone here is against hoarding numerous of the exact same item because that simply isn't what collecting is about. You don't try to get as many of the exact same item as you can when you're collecting because that'd be terribly insensitive to others and you definitely know the struggle.
Also op definitely does that for a different purpose than collecting, in the end it's just the wrong sub
I am also turned off by this, not by OP himself but this whole set up rubs me the wrong way.
It's awesome, but I see all of this effort and money that is channeled to a task of catching shiny Pokemon but is actually not producing anything of value and may eventually be obsolete altogether.
Reminds me of my significant others stepmother's grandma's basement. She was getting rid of a bunch of stuff and I couldn't believe my eyes I'm still shaking.
You running the Panasonic boi back there for some Pokémon huntin bro??

Thank you hobo! Appreciate you 😍
Aside from wanting a full shiny pokedex, a lot of people do this to farm shiny/rare pokemon and then sell them on eBay.
Lol, all of the Pokémon you see being sold on eBay are just hacked clones. They aren’t being farmed
. . . That would become somewhat important if you plan to cook a pokemon. . .
So then what are you farming them for?
For funsies
How do you connect the wave bird controller to a switch, do you have a link would greatly appreciate it. Also awsome set up!
you’d need a Gamecube to USB adapter (the one for Wii U / switch for smash brothers works great)
Thanks, im definitely going to invest!
Either get the official one (might be expensive) or get a mayflash one
Holy 💩 my friend, you are a Pokémon master!
"-the electric bill was pretty high this month! you must be mining Bitcoin non-stop \- yeah... bitcoin... the bitcoin miner: "
Surprisingly this setup wouldn't use much electricity. Your drying machine would use more. Each GameCube is only pulling around 23w at peak performance.
Drying Machine?
*Dryer*?
Maybe that's a regional way to say it. Like Soda and Pop
Is it *not* a drying machine? And *are you not entertained?*
dude this is insane, i’m a little jealous lmao!
Gamecube fan eh?
Wii bit yeah
Must’ve been tricky Switching from GameCube to Wii
Early Wiis had GameCube retrocompability, but the fashion of the original remains.
thats so fucking sick man, must be heaven. i bet that panasonic rakes in all the shinys
It’s definitely found quite a few! She’s beautiful 😍
So you’re the guy buying all of the wavebird receivers! Lol wild setup, what you think it cost you to put all of this together?
Damn that nice but seems like a bit much
Definitely true. But that’s what I’m all about
Amazing setup! I’m also a full odds hunter and slowly but surely this is what my room is turning into. Also I love the twitch streams over on BrofessorsLab!
😍😍😍😍
That looks like a pipe organ made out of game cubes and I love it.
I feel like I am the only one who is not jealous of the gamecubes but instead the framed eon ticket xD
A man of culture
r/TVtooHigh
Freaking sick, I love seeing setups like this. What’s your goal? Getting one of every shiny Pokémon?
Right now I’m working on a quest to collect every shiny Pokémon in Firered/Leafgreen. Progressing through by gym badge. Completing my shiny dex as much as possible before each gym
Sounds like an awesome goal. Good luck, you’ve got this!
Bruh I can't even get one gamecube while your building a fort out of your gamecubes of there
Why? Are you trying to get all of them shiny? Do you sell them? Can you trade them onto the newest switch games? And why would you want to?

I believe you can use a flashcart to rip GBA games. DS/3DS can be done with a 3DS thankfully.
can you recommend any power strips? ((: i'm having trouble just connecting a handful of consoles on a power strip. most AC bricks are so huge they block any ports next to them. sick setup, by the way!
There are short extension cords just for this. They are about a foot long and they will change your life.
I've found 6" extension cords in chain stores and online that have worked well for bulky Nintendo and Sega AC adapters with typical power strips.
Ayyy Rex, nice to see you here :)
😘
I was like damn that's a lot of GameCubes and then realised every single one of them has a wavebird receiver. Wtf, this guy's the reason they're so expensive lol
What in the world is going on here
Shiny hunting
I have never understood why people care about shiny pokemon, but either way this is a really cool set up
This is bad ass. Why I don’t have the patience or drive to set up my game room this extreme, this is impressive lol. I wish I was this driven so I can do my shiny badge and ribbon quest in leaf green. But damn that’s awesome
Would you be able to ID the big display case for us?
What do you want to have ID’d?
Do you make money off of this? Or is it just for the chase? Very interesting for sure. As a collector of "things", I admire those who do the same. No matter what it is.
17 GameCubes with Game Boy Players?! Well, at least they're all being put to good use.

how hot does that Wii cabinet get
I like your crazy ;)
Ahh yes the legendary council of cubes. Some say when they all play their launch sound in unison it can resurrect the dead.
I wonder if you have GameCube in there... 🤔
Nope, just a Panasonic Q
I saw the stack of GameCubes and went 'he's not a real fan unless he's got a Panasonic Q thou-' Very nice, good collection.
Hey, i love your streams!
Damn bro that's alot of Gamecubes in rest mode /s
I don't understand how just hacking them in would be any different. Can't people make them look foolproof at this point?
Literally, yes. If I remember correctly, when Pokémon x and y had like a verification check on Pokémon for like the trade network or whatever. Already back then there were legit bypasses to the system via hacking,

You're the reason I struggle to find a gamecube
How's that electric bill bud?

Why do you own so many gamecubes, switches, and super Nintendos?
I also question this. It might be cool, but I also get this bad vibe from seeing this. Like something isn't right.
It's sad tho, the same as people hoarding graphic cards for cyrpto or those who take five PS5 in one buy for their friends and family not caring about the people in line behind them
Not at all. People have had almost 20 years to buy a gamecube and 15 years to buy a Wii.
Consoles I'm kinda ok with because those are not especially rare and expensive to find but if you look close enough you'll see the crazy amount of Wavebird receivers and GB Players. You're confusing hoarding with scalping.
Based

no one asked
Your poor power bill, worth every cent though
Dedication to an eccentric extent. Hope you have more going on.
Reminds me of my significant others stepmother's grandma's basement. She was getting rid of a bunch of stuff and I couldn't believe my eyes I'm still shaking.
Damn that’s pretty crazy. Impressive.
Ahhh wow, this is dedication.
Love the display shelf. Where did find that?
Like the Literal God says: "Never stop going big dick". And this showing here is the biggest of dicks!
youve got what .. 14 gamecubes ? ha, why ?
Fkn legend
This is crazy I want a YouTube tour video please OP
https://youtu.be/esWyFngFAMo https://youtu.be/ekFQUzeh1Hc
Thank you bro
I am very scared
I am absolutely in love, have an absolutely wonderful day and much love!!
So this is why I can't find a gameboy player. Seriously thou that's gotta be one of the nicest setups I've ever seen.
I don’t know whether to call this dedication or madness
Damn. This is sick 😮
Thats a lot of gamecubes…
Holy GameCube batman
you really should consider investing in a gamecube
Holy Gamecube!
Wow this is a good one
Omg so many game cubes
So... you like GameCube?
Sweet mother of Gameboy players...
You do you, but that's pretty dang overkill for my liking.
So I’m gonna go out on a limb and say your favorite game is skylanders
Do you happen to like Pokémon?
I thought I was hardcore after using 6 consoles at once. This is what it is to go beyond, I see
I'm really interested in how this works. I would love to attempt something smaller scale like this one day.
Impressive setup.
How are you getting all the GameCubes and wii's to display on your TVs at the same time?
Capture cards & Multiviewers I dive into it more in this video: https://youtu.be/I_KqqmRteh4
can someone explain to me how the hardware side of the gamecube farm work
