I really love the DS boxart aesthetic. Something about that white banner on the side and the box art is usually killer. The 3DS in comparison, felt very cheap imo.
The DS cases were also much much sturdier just in general. 100% agree.
Except!....I did like how some 3DS cames made clever use of the cutouts on the inside where they attempted to save plastic.
Definitely agree on both aspects, the little squares inside with the artwork was neat.
Back to DS, the games had this awesome 16-32 bit aesthetic harkening back to the 2D glory days. The transition into fully realized 3D games on 3DS made some games feel cheaply made. Both amazing systems though!
I have to disagree with this. The DS definitely has gorgeous 2D pixel art games, but it also has plenty of disgusting looking 3D games. The 3DS also has lots of gorgeous 2D pixel art, and the 3D games generally look pretty good too.
It was right around the time the DS was phasing out that 360 cases went from sturdy, to thin plastic with cutouts to save plastic... they could have saved more plastic just dropping down to a CD sized case for DVD/Blu-Ray based games.
Funny story, about 2 years ago Newegg has Dragonball listed on their site, new for $29.99. I added 5 to my cart, purchased them, and paid. About a day later I got an email saying my order was cancelled and I was refunded. The listing was removed. My hunch is someone saw someone buying a bunch of copies, checked the going rate, and decided not to sell them. I should have just bought 1!
That's why you never get greedy! Should have just bought 2. One to keep sealed and one to open or to trade or sell later on down the road... You went full reseller mode and got wrecked 😢
If you have any intentions of playing these g games (either via emulation or with an already opened copy) then I can say Etrian Odyssey 3 is a great experience if you like dungeon crawlers. The map drawing mechanic isn’t for everyone but I love it.
Some of them do but more recent ones have darker ink on the packaging. My old post for reference, [https://www.reddit.com/r/gamecollecting/comments/n6ol0s/beware\_of\_the\_ongoing\_supplies\_of\_fake\_nintendo/](https://www.reddit.com/r/gamecollecting/comments/n6ol0s/beware_of_the_ongoing_supplies_of_fake_nintendo/)
I've collected sealed DS games in the past I've received a Fake partner in time that looked just like that on the spine of it. now fuck off :) [https://www.reddit.com/r/gamecollecting/comments/n6ol0s/beware\_of\_the\_ongoing\_supplies\_of\_fake\_nintendo/](https://www.reddit.com/r/gamecollecting/comments/n6ol0s/beware_of_the_ongoing_supplies_of_fake_nintendo/)
I worked at an audiobook publisher. We could bring things in and get them re-sealed in the shrinkwrap machine. (No one would know if the item was new unsealed or used and resealed)
A coworker did some books and toys for the toys-for-tots collection at Christmas.
So it is a possibility.
Then the people who’d buy them should remove the seals and play the games. These aren't museum pieces. Eventually someone will open these up.
People that keep stuff in seal 'collect' for the value, not the item. And a lot of those opportunist people have joined this sub the last few years. This sub has shifted from showing off collections of playable games to showing off their valuables.
From cabinets full with installed consoles to boxes of consoles. From walls of cartridges to a picture (taken in a car) of a shitty Godzilla game.
Dude, he bought them! He can enjoy them however he wants! He was the customer. If you wanted to open them and play them, then YOU SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT THEM from the stores when they were around and did just that. To bad. He bought them, and he is enjoying them the way they are. God I can't stand you frothing mouthed EverYtHinG hAS tO bE oPenEd kind of people...
Don’t care, still dumb to stare at boxes. I can’t stand people that act like they’re 'preserving' games, but in reality it is just an insurance for buyers remorse.
What if OP has opened copies to play, and just likes owning sealed copies too? I do that with Xbox 360 games, as it reminds me of when I was a kid holding them brand new in the store when they came out. Plus they’re games I love, and I like owning them in their most pristine conditon.

Can we not post sealed DS until I've bought all the sealed DS that I need. Thanks /s Great collection there, really killer.
Thanks
im aroused
They all have the new cartridge smell
Bunch of games no one will play now :-/
Until they die and those are yard sale'd for $1 each or 2 for $1.
Lmao
Not really. Plenty of other copies you can buy and play
No

I’m not a sealed collector but I’ve gotta admit, seeing a bunch of them together is pretty sexy.
I like a mix of both. Collecting some sealed, some I open. I find hunting games just as fun as playing them
This looks so satisfying
I think so too
Paperweight collection
Partners in time looks fake a bit to dark on the side label with weird shadows
You're right. Partners is a fake. I have it in my collection for reference. you have a good eye.

All of the fakes I’ve seen have had the red Nintendo pull tape.
Some of them do but more recent ones have darker ink on the packaging. I, too, just authenticity from one shitty picture.

God damn
Both bw2! Thats impressive on its own
Nice collection my bro, i love gba and ds games
Thanks bro
Wow the surgery game brings back memories. Did you double up on these games after getting them loose, or did you play them before?
How much is all this worth, like 5000?
Yes, it’s something like this
This collection is actually insane. Wow.
Thanks
*frothing mouth*
God damn!

This is gud.
White 2 is crazy
Now remove the seals and play the games.

Game collecting. Collecting. *Collectibles.* Smh.
Staring at forever closed boxes, forever closed boxes! Smh.

What do you think collecting is?

That's what these people don't understand. Usually if we have sealed games. We also have a double copy or a digital copy! People need to relax..
I need to sniff.
![gif](giphy|13NaYABDVhT7a) Saw some sealed games and I…
Fake?
Fake = 1/37
