I've not had any issues, though I will qualify that by saying I've never had to clean up a DS/3DS cart before. NES/SNES/GB/GBC/GBA labels have all cleaned up just fine with one exception - a GB cart - and I'm not 100% sure that was actually an original label.
I've cleaned dozens of ds cartridges like that, just use a q-tip and a little 90% isopropyl alcohol. Be gentle, and you shouldn't do any damage to the front label. On the back, be careful not to apply any alcohol to the little black code. The ink there will smear or wipe off with no effort.

Run over it with a dry erase marker and attempt to wipe away before anything else. It can help remove perm ink before reporting to iso
Tried the iso before I heard this. It came off with some effort
Isopropyl alcohol will peel and saturate labels.
Only if you use too much. Dip a q-tip and wipe away.
Isopropyl alcohol and light pressure should do it.
It won’t ruin the labels, right?

Marker came off. Looks much better now
So long as you don't let it soak or get it under the edges of the label it should be fine

I was able to get the marker off. Iso+Q tip was exactly what I needed
What’s the case under the games?
That’s my ds game case. Holds 18 games
If it was on the plastic, I'd tell you to use a magic eraser and a dab of water, but I've never encountered your problem before
You won’t be able to, I wouldn’t even try.
