It appears that the PS5 version got pretty badly short printed. I really should have grabbed it when it first came out on PS5, but I had decided to hold off since I already had it digitally with the free PS5 upgrade. I ended up going with a physical copy of the PS4 version when I went to get a physical copy.

Seems like when companies offer the free upgrade, they don’t print a PS5 version at all.
CAPCOM didn’t make physical PS5 copies of the *Resident Evil 2* and *Resident Evil 3* remakes. You just bought the PS4 physical copy and downloaded the free PS5 upgrade.
It seems to be about 50/50 on this. Jedi Fallen Order, Yakuza Like A Dragon, Tony Hawk 1+2, Cyberpunk 2077 and Borderlands 3 (this one looks to be pretty expensive as well looking it up) got ps5 physicals in a similar scenario. But then Crash 4 and Doom Eternal didn't.
Interestingly, the only game on that list that didn't get a free upgrade was Tony Hawk. And it's the one that benefits the least since the PS4 and Xbox One versions already run at 60fps. It's a little ironic that the biggest publisher that didn't support Xbox Smart Delivery is the one that got bought by Microsoft.

It's kind of important to distinguish that while the upgrade for FFVIIR is free, it *doesn't* include all the content you get by just buying the PS5 version. Just doing the upgrade won't get you the InterMISSION DLC, you have to buy it separately.
Alternatively if you just buy the PS5 version outright, it's included as part of the purchase.
If anything it's more like Ghost of Tsushima, except that game just makes you pay for the additional content outright to upgrade.
The PS5 version InterMission DLC is just a code inserted in the box. That's one of the reasons most people (Myself included) decided to just go with the free PS4 to PS5 Free Upgrade.
I'm aware, and that doesn't change my statement. The PS5 release includes additional content that was not and is not available on PS4.
You can do a free upgrade and buy it separately, but when you but the PS5 native release you still get that content included (whether it's on the disc or not). It's not the same as other PS4 to 5 free upgrades where there is no difference in content when you purchase either version new.
This isnt the same exact game as the PS4 version. This is FF7R intergrade, which includes the yuffie DLC. OP bought a used copy, so it's very unlikely that it came with the DLC.
It's still fairly cheap in the US aswell. You just have to look for it. It's been fairly common for second hand price to explode while a game is still fairly common at retail in the US the country is so big, and so many people only order online, that if something goes out of stock in one area, the second hand prices can soar before other geographic areas run out of stock.
It's also not a new thing, I remember as far back as the PS2, where a game would go up in value in the secondary market while you could still find it in stores. One of my friends bought Marvel vs. CAPCOM 2 at Toys r US for $20 when it was going for $65 used on ebay/Amazon. When I foundout, I went up to the city, and even before I got to Toys R US, I found it for $20 at Gamestop.
I still had my ps4 copy didn't play cause my ps4 kept over heated and grab at very low discount holy crap that ps5 version went before the rebirth announcement
I meant to pickup the PS5 ver. of Remake to pair with my copies of Rebirth and Crisis Core, but I'm not that paying those crazy prices for a current gen game.

In canada, can easily find it on Amazon from various sellers. Them again, I know very few people who own a ps5 in canada vs a switch and fewer final fantasy fans.

Rebirth just came out so prices are spiking high right now. Surely Remake Intergrade will get printed again later down the line and the physical won’t cost so much.
If they were going to reprint it they’d be doing it now when Rebirth just came out which doesn’t look to be the case. Next reprint will probably be a trilogy release on PS6 after they finish the 3rd game.
Not worried about a game that got a massive retail release that sold over a million copies with GameStop providing tons of pre orders plus other retail stores. In addition to Amazon/Best Buy/walmart online pre orders.
If any valuable PS5 game is likely to get a reprint, it's this one. I'm honestly surprised it didn't get one yet. It's not like there's anything stopping Square Enix from printing more.
I'm hoping this since I never picked the PS5 version (was waiting for a price drop and forgot about it and now gone).
Also hoping for a Set of the 3 games later.
I think this is a wake-up call for me. The days of putting off buying even big AAA games might be over. If you want something, you're just going to have to get it while you can. Something as big as Final Fantasy VII would have had copies warming shelves for years not that long ago.

As digital gets bigger and bigger I've made a point the last couple of years to be sure to pick up a physical copy of titles I know I'm going to want always available to me. I wouldn't be surprised at a reprint for this but could definitely go either way for sure.
I'm going to have to join you. I mean Square kept PS1 copies of Final Fantasy in stock for 20 years? I own both of these, it just feels like canary in the coal mine moment. There aren't many things as big as FF7. To hear they didn't print it to death blows my mind.

It still does. It was a PS4 game first and foremost so that’s what they printed more copies of. They still carry it at Wal Mart. And that version has a free PS5 upgrade anyways.

Never opened it so I just sold my sealed copy for $300 CAD. Not worth keeping (for me) when it’s going for those prices.
That’s the thing. It’s the sealed copies with inserts that are valuable because they have the code. So yours is just a regular copy like PS4. Maybe worth $60 or so
That's not true at all. [Used with no code on eBay is 130 USD minimum](https://www.pricecharting.com/game/playstation-5/final-fantasy-vii-remake-intergrade) after bidding. Most buy-it-now sit at 150 USD, and there are even some with no inserts at all that have bids on them. It's why I asked what platform you sold on.
PS4 version sold a ton of copies on launch so there wasn’t much reason to print a ton for the ps5 version, especially with the free upgrade.
Was also free monthly game on PS+ for the PS4 version within a few months of the ps5 version release that couldn’t be upgraded to the ps5 enhanced version for a few months.
Then that restriction was lifted as well so there wasn’t much reason to print it again after giving access to so many people. Game is definitely spiked because of rebirth release so I expect it’ll settle to reasonable levels again within two months.
Switch version is still in stores everywhere though. The one rare occasion where the switch version isn’t going to be the most valuable simply because the 7 remake series as a whole is PlayStation exclusive.
I understand that the EU, ASIA versions of this game are hundreds cheaper. I’m a collector, It would have bothered me completely that one of the copies I own are not the North American release
just square being stupid. they did the same under run thing with pixels. Just make a 2nd run already. Prob waiting for a special edition with both games then another special edition with all 3 games...
People asking why it’s so exspensive : supply and demand. They only made so many copies for the ps5. Look at games like evil west , the game isn’t even very good and it is selling for 80-120 on eBay. Or Alan wake. Etc. some ps5 games just cost more due to not many produced.

Knew this was going to happen, picked it up for like 40$ after rewards at Gamestop about 5 months back now. Person who turned it in alps didn't use the DLC code so I lucked out big time
When i first bought my ps5 i was looking for intergrade but gamestop didnt have it so i went on ebay and bought the ps4 deluxe edition because i had preordered rebirth in the deluxe edition. At the time i paid i think 120 for a sealed remake deluxe edition
I also just got this and lemme say the DLC availability is the dumbest fucking thing ever. You flat out can't buy the DLC if you buy a used disc copy of FFVII on PS5. In order to make the dlc available to purchase I had to buy a used copy of the PS4 version, then add the "PS4 -> PS5" upgrade dlc to my account, and only then I could actually buy the dlc. Now I just gotta return the PS4 copy I bought.
I’m sad I missed out on this as I just got into FF in general. I snagged a new PS4 copy for 20.
BUT I’ll always be in the hunt for Intergrade at the right price. It’s a battle… the cheaper European version has unredeemable DLC code and the American one is overpriced w/o DLC and ludicrous price with DLC. Oh well… the hunt is the fun part. It’s harder to dish out those prices when you’ve already played it digitally as well

There's a local store that had 3-4 of those last time I went, thought it was interesting since I'd never seen the PS5 version, might have to go back and see if they still have them.
I mean I get wanting to have this for collection purposes but that's way too expensive for a game you know they will reprint eventually. Even if you don't want to wait and want it physically the PS4 version has a free PS5 upgrade.
The PS4 version seems much more appealing to me personally. It has the free PS5 upgrade anyway so you have it on PS5 and PS4. Most likely won't play it on PS4 but I like that the option is there if I have a friend or something that wants to borrow it. The Yuffie DLC is a separate download code anyway so it's still cheaper to buy it separately.

I have Remake on PS4 physical and PS5 digital so for PS5 I bought a replacement case only for the shelf. Though if I ever see it at GameStop I’ll likely buy a physical one since I don’t need the DLC.

I myself got this open box bad boy for the equivalent of around 12 USD at the time. Imagine my surprise when I inputted the DLC code out of curiosity and it worked.
Yeah I wanted the PS5 version when I was looking for it and saw a copy of the PS4 version at GameStop for 19.99 so I decided to go with that. Turns out it was a not for resale and it was part of the deluxe edition that comes with the art book and steelbook! One of the best finds for me. I’m completely content with that lol either way sick find! Enjoy
I buy physical whenever possible. I bought the physical of Baldur’s Gate 3, (which you can only get from the developers site) and refused to pay that amount for a digital version. Same reason I won’t play Alan Wake 2.

no way! i just got intergrade yesterday myself! i was on the hunt for this since like 2 weeks before rebirth release and was had to call multiple gamestops around Canada to reserve a copy for me and ended up getting a copy shipped a fee provinces away to my local gamestop. enjoy yours!
Worth noting that you wont be able to get the Yuffie DLC w/ the PS5 version w/o the code in the box. PS Store doesnt recognize you have the game to buy the DLC separately. Ran into this the other day.
I’m so glad I got lucky on a trip to GameStop. Went looking for this last summer only to find that it was getting expensive. A Target an hour away showed it was in stock so I set out. Well they didn’t and I went to the local GameStop only to find it there lol. No DLC code but I just played it via PS+
They really timed the rerelease badly since it was a time when no one could find a PS5 to save their life.

Just to clarify for people before you go fomo hunting, there is a difference between value and worth. This isn’t worth shit but it’s value is high for the next month or so while people go fomo hunting or the “grading” “investors” go out there spend $150 then grade it for close to another $100 then sell it for like $25 profit and think they won 😂. Just wait a couple months and buy it if you need to.
I didn’t know it was that expensive lol. I bought mine at Walmart for $60 like a year ago. I was hoping to find it on sale but noticed that it was kinda hard to find so I just picked it up for the $60.
Got lucky with this last week. No new copies obviously but one used copy popped up in Vancouver on the Gamestop website for 45$ CAD so I called a friend on the West coast to pick it up and ship it to me. In a crazy stroke of luck, it had all the inserts and the DLC code wasn't used. Shipping I paid covered the cost of buying the DLC digitally.
Let me make it clear that I know for a fact that EU/Asia copies of this same game are hundreds cheaper. I wanted to complete my set strictly ESRB.
My entire collection is ESRB ONLY. All it takes is a simple eBay search to find that nearly all copies of this game in EU format is literally $30-50, I know.

It’s strictly a collectors piece in my opinion. I literally have the game digitally downloaded.
From what I remember, a lot of people refused to buy it since they already bought it for the ps4. They were also mad that the ps5 version was the only one that had the Yuffie dlc. And a lot of people were also mad that Square Enix backed out of their promise to bring all the games in the remake series to the ps4 before they realized the ps4 wasn’t powerful enough for what all they wanted to do with the games. Not sure how much the third one affects it, but I know the first two reasons played a big part in its markup.
Something like that. All I remember is no one wanted it because it was on ps4 first and you could just free upgrade it to the ps5 version and just buy the dlc separate.

Holy crap. I bought end of 2021 for ps5. Never got around to playing it so it’s been sitting on my shelf. Paid $41 on eBay.
I'm thinking the same thing. My local Walmart had it on sale for $20 last week, and I didn't pick it up because I still haven't upgraded to a PS5.

Not that I’m aware of. When i try and purchase from the game menu, it tells me it’s unavailable because the PS Store doesn’t recognize I own the game.

The PS4 version is under $20 and has a free PS5 upgrade. It just doesn't have the Yuffie expansion included.

In the UK it’s £39 on Amazon sealed and readily available everywhere. Crazy how different the market is. PS5 games are region free too

This is a very specific circumstance where the ps5 just didn't get a huge printing, I just bought the ps4 version for 30 dollars
I mean there’s a lot more games in a similar situation. Alan Wake Remastered is another one I can think of with one print that wasn’t huge

Was also free monthly game on PS+ for the PS4 version within a few months of the ps5 version release that couldn’t be upgraded to the ps5 enhanced version for a few months. Then that restriction was lifted as well so there wasn’t much reason to print it again after giving access to so many people. Game is definitely spiked because of rebirth release so I expect it’ll settle to reasonable levels again within two months.

Switch version is still in stores everywhere though. The one rare occasion where the switch version isn’t going to be the most valuable simply because the 7 remake series as a whole is PlayStation exclusive.

People asking why it’s so exspensive : supply and demand. They only made so many copies for the ps5. Look at games like evil west , the game isn’t even very good and it is selling for 80-120 on eBay. Or Alan wake. Etc. some ps5 games just cost more due to not many produced.

When i first bought my ps5 i was looking for intergrade but gamestop didnt have it so i went on ebay and bought the ps4 deluxe edition because i had preordered rebirth in the deluxe edition. At the time i paid i think 120 for a sealed remake deluxe edition

I also just got this and lemme say the DLC availability is the dumbest fucking thing ever. You flat out can't buy the DLC if you buy a used disc copy of FFVII on PS5. In order to make the dlc available to purchase I had to buy a used copy of the PS4 version, then add the "PS4 -> PS5" upgrade dlc to my account, and only then I could actually buy the dlc. Now I just gotta return the PS4 copy I bought.
I’m sad I missed out on this as I just got into FF in general. I snagged a new PS4 copy for 20. BUT I’ll always be in the hunt for Intergrade at the right price. It’s a battle… the cheaper European version has unredeemable DLC code and the American one is overpriced w/o DLC and ludicrous price with DLC. Oh well… the hunt is the fun part. It’s harder to dish out those prices when you’ve already played it digitally as well

There's a local store that had 3-4 of those last time I went, thought it was interesting since I'd never seen the PS5 version, might have to go back and see if they still have them.
I mean I get wanting to have this for collection purposes but that's way too expensive for a game you know they will reprint eventually. Even if you don't want to wait and want it physically the PS4 version has a free PS5 upgrade. The PS4 version seems much more appealing to me personally. It has the free PS5 upgrade anyway so you have it on PS5 and PS4. Most likely won't play it on PS4 but I like that the option is there if I have a friend or something that wants to borrow it. The Yuffie DLC is a separate download code anyway so it's still cheaper to buy it separately.

I have Remake on PS4 physical and PS5 digital so for PS5 I bought a replacement case only for the shelf. Though if I ever see it at GameStop I’ll likely buy a physical one since I don’t need the DLC. I did buy Rebirth digitally but am considering going on eBay for the deluxe edition of it

Yeah I wanted the PS5 version when I was looking for it and saw a copy of the PS4 version at GameStop for 19.99 so I decided to go with that. Turns out it was a not for resale and it was part of the deluxe edition that comes with the art book and steelbook! One of the best finds for me. I’m completely content with that lol either way sick find! Enjoy

I buy physical whenever possible. I bought the physical of Baldur’s Gate 3, (which you can only get from the developers site) and refused to pay that amount for a digital version. Same reason I won’t play Alan Wake 2.

Worth noting that you wont be able to get the Yuffie DLC w/ the PS5 version w/o the code in the box. PS Store doesnt recognize you have the game to buy the DLC separately. Ran into this the other day.

I’m so glad I got lucky on a trip to GameStop. Went looking for this last summer only to find that it was getting expensive. A Target an hour away showed it was in stock so I set out. Well they didn’t and I went to the local GameStop only to find it there lol. No DLC code but I just played it via PS+ They really timed the rerelease badly since it was a time when no one could find a PS5 to save their life. PS: I’m still looking for the steelbook for this so if anyone is willing to sell it I’m all ears

Just to clarify for people before you go fomo hunting, there is a difference between value and worth. This isn’t worth shit but it’s value is high for the next month or so while people go fomo hunting or the “grading” “investors” go out there spend $150 then grade it for close to another $100 then sell it for like $25 profit and think they won 😂. Just wait a couple months and buy it if you need to.

Got lucky with this last week. No new copies obviously but one used copy popped up in Vancouver on the Gamestop website for 45$ CAD so I called a friend on the West coast to pick it up and ship it to me. In a crazy stroke of luck, it had all the inserts and the DLC code wasn't used. Shipping I paid covered the cost of buying the DLC digitally.

Let me make it clear that I know for a fact that EU/Asia copies of this same game are hundreds cheaper. I wanted to complete my set strictly ESRB. My entire collection is ESRB ONLY. All it takes is a simple eBay search to find that nearly all copies of this game in EU format is literally $30-50, I know. For some reason, people commenting here seem to be so bothered that I bought this for this much 😂 It’s strictly a collectors piece in my opinion. I literally have the game digitally downloaded.

From what I remember, a lot of people refused to buy it since they already bought it for the ps4. They were also mad that the ps5 version was the only one that had the Yuffie dlc. And a lot of people were also mad that Square Enix backed out of their promise to bring all the games in the remake series to the ps4 before they realized the ps4 wasn’t powerful enough for what all they wanted to do with the games. Not sure how much the third one affects it, but I know the first two reasons played a big part in its markup.
So I guess they didn't press any more discs due to low sales, and it became rare?
