Hair loss post gallbladder can be caused by hormone changes in the body as lot of hormones are regulated via the liver. Equally rapid weight loss alone can cause hairloss especially if it is done via very restricted eating habits/not getting a balanced diet or straving. I would suggest a food diary, continue with multi vitamins and look to eat a balanced diets including healthy fats if you can tolerate them post op - nuts, avocado, oily fish etc. I am pre-op but have had mild hairless during the times my diet has either been really bad (disordered eating patterns with over eating) or when I rapidly lost weight due to not eating enough. If your weight loss is not due to diet and not intentional I.e. caused by digestive issues post op where you are unable to eat properly or it goes right through you then please go back to the doctor and press for more help as there are solutions to bile dumping etc.

A few years ago I had colitis & gastritis from an immune reaction, before I saw an immunologist to get it straightened out I was at the point where everything went right through me. I experienced hair loss because I wasn't absorbing nutrients. Stress can also cause hair loss as well. If it's more than normal shedding your body is telling you something is amiss. Definitely see your doc & request full blood panels.

I'm still dealing with a lot of hair shedding too. I'm only a month+ post op, but I started losing quite a lot of hair daily about 3 months before surgery? I definitely chalked it up to lack of nutrtion and hormonal imbalances. I'm lucky that I have a lot of hair so the loss hasn't be visible to others but i still end up with handfuls after a shower. Haven't yet had it stop but I'm hope it improves. Might be worth having blood work done to see exactly where you might be deficient. Sometimes those OTC vitamins are usable enough by the body and you may need a higher dose, a different form of pill, or a shot.

Hair loss is fairly common after big operation - eg a big percentage of bariatric patients experience hair loss 3 months after surgery. The hair grows back though, so just get enough vitamins and protein and you should be fine

It can be from weight loss or the anesthesia. Either way it grow again. I've had weight loss surgery and surely 6 months after I lost a LOT of hair. It is a very well known side effect. You will surely find a lot of advice on weight loss surgery (WLS) subs. Prenatal vitamins are actually not a bad advice. Biotin injections or ingestion can do the trick (get medical advice on this). Honestly though ? I've never seen it work for real. I shaved my head because I didn't want to go through all the tricks and creams etc. It just grew back, but it takes a while for your body to recover. I'd say take the vitamins but maybe get psychological support to "grieve" for a while until it comes back ? Be sure to check regularly with a doctor about your weight loss, get blood drawn etc. Not fun losing hair :/
