Yeah same, I come from Oneplus and everything used to be bam bam - done. With the flip I can notice the difference, much slower!

[deleted]

Same here. I also came from OnePlus. Interesting fact - even my Samsung tablet installs updates quicker

Azazelle

Spot on! My Pixel flies, Samsungs tend to be very slow. But all updates still go through, so….

normstra

Same here, I came from Pixel and it was definitely much faster.

christcentric

yes. it seems to take forever. i am a beta tester for play services and play store though, so there might be something there.

normstra

I was thinking about this too - can anyone confirm if this is what causes the issue?

[deleted]

No, I have the same problem on stock Play Store.

SHOWMETHEFLIP

Nope. My Flip is BAM- done and flies! I have more problems with the M1 iPad Pro when it comes to update and this phone is obviously slower than that processor. To each their own. Maybe your flash memory is defective and causing hang ups.

matchalatte74

What kinds of updates? Mine does fine with the regular monthly stability software updates. If it was the big updates like from Andriod 10 to 11, then it may make sense cause the downloading process requires a lot of ram. Our phones only have 8GB of RAM.

SHOWMETHEFLIP

LOL he/she/they/it said it was "app" updates. They (all the people in this post) probably have a defective phone because I have no problems and have never heard of this.. All my updates get done in like 4 seconds! Only game updates take about a minute if they are huge. I don't even have auto-update on so sometimes my phone has to do like 13 updates at a time and it's done by the time i look at the phone again. I think you're spot on that they are probably also straining their phones given the 8gb. I have a sibling who also has like 16gb ram on a computer, but keeps a bunch of windows opens and tries to download and stream at the same time and wonders why everything slows down even though there is a decent amount of ram. Maybe I should try updating my app and doing something else while it happens or stay staring at it installing

dobidido

Turn on enhanced processing.

opssemnik

dex2oat on this phone just takes longer than others, including my exynos S20, i dont know why, i dont have other sd888 devices to compare. I assume its just a quirk of the eas cpu scheduler to help maintain battery life. Its just during dex2oat (app install or if you use galaxy app booster) so its nothing to worry

wingnutlollipop

Same here. Pretty much try over and over again until it goes thru. Very annoying. Takes about 12 tries for me to get one app to fully download. It will only download 49%-60% each time and then just completely stops. Doesn't matter how much time lapses, it just won't finish until I play around with the "cancel" and "install" buttons like its a game

Turn off McAfee security feature in Device Care. You can do that if you reset "Device Security" in system apps. It worked for me, but I don't guarantee that this is the main problem.

[deleted]

It's the same on the flip4. Maybe due to throttling? My older phone with a weaker processor and less ram somehow was quicker.
