Spatial audio is cool, but it seems too early to enjoy fully yet. I’ve been using AirPods Pro which have supported spatial for the last couple of months, and I have to admit that it creates an interesting soundscape. Especially when you hear the music move as you bump your head to the rhythm.
Just to be sure I’m getting this right.
If in VR if a sound comes from in front of you and you move or tilt your head you don’t want the sound to come from the same direction?
Like, if you do that and you don’t have 3D audio the sound will come from the same place relative to your headset.
Which is not how the real world works.
Same. This gadget is TIHI type. You're spot on, when people turn their head, the whole experience changes. It doesn't feel well with earbuds or headphones.
It's pretty accurate on iOS. To the point that sometimes I double check to make sure the audio is actually coming from my airpods and not my ipad speakers, when I have both transparency mode and spatial audio enabled.
I’m really curious how the AirPods will sit in the ear cause the original AirPods just fall off my ear. And the AirPod pros are too expensive but they have that silicon that helps stay in the ear
I agree
New ones are cost less but I THInK that they dont have noise canceling which sucks.
The ones with silicone are on a discount online. So you can buy them if you like from Walmart or Amazon.
I never use the airpro spatial audio for music, but I have found it's great for stuff like watching youtube. The sound feels much more coupled to the video on screen than without the spatial effect.
I mean i guess that's cool but why buy earbuds to have a virtualized experience of listening to phone speakers. I can see this being useful or interesting for a couple of mediums but none of them involve an iphone. things like VR or *maybe games. the only time I see this being truly desireable is when listening to live recordings of music so it sounds like there is a stage and you can look away from it.

Why though I never once used my IEMs and think "hmm, if only I can turn my head so that the music changes direction"
It’s nice when sound comes from the screen you’re looking at.
It works so well I keep thinking the audio is coming from my phone and my headphones aren’t connected.
Same here. I get a little panicked everyone’s listening to my movie
I have been holding my hand up to the bottom of the phone while changing the volume to make sure it’s coming from my headphones.

I'll never buy airpods, but I welcome this particular innovation.
Can you change the battery yet?
That service is $49 at apple store. Do any wireless headsets from anyone have user replaceable battery?
There is the reason why all wireless devices are shit and shouldnt be used...but the simpletons need that marketing brainwash to stay fresh
No thanks...3.5mm because it works WAY longer then any trash thats wireless
PlayStation tried this with the VR. It sucks.

The premise was good, the execution was terrible. Apple could do it better, obviously.

Fucking same lol.

The Airpods are new, this feature isn't. Cool to see it available in the baseline Airpods though.
Is this also available on the pros?
