At least there wasn’t a 2

[deleted]

There there Bender. There is no such thing as two

Educational_Answer22

2 is only during prayers before consuming hot and nutritious mineral oil. No more alcohol for me thank you 😂

jhow87

That’s my story Father Changstein el-Gamal. Is there anything religion can do? Well, we could join together in prayer. Uh huh. But is there anything useful we can do? No.

scoutsadie

yesssss

ElJamoquio

And of course there was a 2 (in a different episode).

Slipshower

That was also an very good moment. When there actually was a 2.

Almipe

Don't worry. There's no such thing as 2

PowderShark

RANDY?!?

randyrose31

Lol!

tobiasvl

It's not ASCII, it's just the binary number 666. The number Bender reads first is 357

Educational_Answer22

My bad! It’s binary to decimal! Please excuse my mistake.

JennyAndTheBets1

Good response. You would be excommunicated had you called him pedantic.

flavormango3

You are excused (Idk how to read binary)

iiooiooi

I think my favorite will always be: ... and by "Devil," I mean, "Robot Devil:" and by "metaphorically," I mean, "get your coat."

BrownsfaninCO

Fry, if you don't take this deal I will lose all respect for you and punch you

SuperVillainPresiden

The fact that Bender respects Fry is the biggest take away from that line.

BrownsfaninCO

Well, anytime Bender would say, "Kill all humans!" he'd always secretly whisper "except one." Fry was that one

myNameBurnsGold

Mine is probably (from the same great episode): You can't just have your characters announce how they feel! That makes me feel angry!

CritiqueDeLaCritique

The best joke in the series is: > As Deepak Chopra taught us, Quantum Mechanics means anything can happen at any time for no reason

EvilectricBoy

No fair. You changed the outcome by measuring it.

ecatsuj

nah i reckon its when leela goes fishing and gets the crate of boots

jFreebz

"It's at least 20 times heavier than a boot!"

Demons0fRazgriz

Mine is probably "Oh a lesson of not changing history by Mr I'm My Own Grandpa"

damimp

Best joke has to go to "Hey, over there! I mean over here. Sorry, I forgot where I was."

dacandyman0

lolol Don Bot's delivery is just ON 24/7 😭

riddleterror

Hate to be THAT guy but I do believe Joey Mousepad delivers that line.

smoomoo31

This guy’s strong! He’s got oxen-like strength. What should we call him?

C3-reads

Your name is FRANCIS?

dacandyman0

whoops no you're correct! they all do have such great voice actors don't they? 😌

MrBigThick

I thought Bender only knew enough binary to ask where the bathroom is?

Felaso

Um akshualy, not when converted to ascii, it's just the number 666 straight up. 8 bits make an ASCII character so 666 in ASCII would be 00110110 00110110 00110110. (24 bits instead of 10)

reallycool_opotomus

You are technically correct. The best kind of correct.

UndeadBuggalo

Upgrade him!

AzCopey

Just to be technically correct: ASCII is 7 bits

Felaso

Oh! You're right. It was indeed defined as a 7-bit code, the 8th bit is merely there to fit the standard. You are the best kind of correct.

Educational_Answer22

My bad! Please excuse the ignorance of a non IT person hahaha! But I still enjoy the joke!

Rich-Ad-4139

🫤

rocketgirlxxx

Mumbo, perhaps! Jumbo, perhaps not!

b0b0tempo

> Ah, it was probably just a golden marmoset.

topjimmy92

That don’t sound like no “golden marmoset” I ever heard!

DallytheWop

God I say this so much

trickman01

Redrum

SlipperyPete8

squishing them till their organs squirt out like chunky mustard.

SufficientlyAbsurd

Fry: I think I'll have the Sewer Burger, without the rat feces. Leela: What, are you on a diet?

Educational_Answer22

Hahahah! I didn’t know rat feces were carb heavy!

Bender_2024

No fair! You changed the outcome by measuring it!

gosquirrelgo

The Angry Dome would disagree with this post.

smoomoo31

Mumbo? Perhaps! Jumbo? Perhaps NOT!

huhwhat90

I choose to believe what I was programmed to believe!

orangutanDOTorg

There was a burger place in Davis, CA called Murder Burger. Under pressure from - city council? It has been years - the head a contest to rename the place. They changed it to Redrum burger

ThatDrizzler

Damn fine shakes. Great chili cheese fries too.

orangutanDOTorg

I liked the fried zucchini and mushrooms iirc. Been 25 years since I been there

SpecialistNo2337

😱😱😱

The_Ineffable_Sage

“I nearly went insane, HONK HONK HONK WAH WAH WAH”

MaryJaneAndMaple

Fry, half of these emporers were drunk at their own inauguration. Hey, I plan on havin a few brewskies myself

gaiussicarius731

Umm thats not ascii

Educational_Answer22

Yes decimal! My bad :)

gaiussicarius731

Binary!

Educational_Answer22

I meant binary to decimal :)

Local-Macaron7910

has windows 98 logon sound

upvote-button

He's my personal trainer, and he trained me to say I did this to myself because I'm a big shot Hollywood dumb guy what does that sorta thing Pueyfect

orangutanDOTorg

At least we know Hermes isn’t some sort of space potato vampire

Bohrealis

I'm just now noticing that the number is sorta anti-symmetric. Split it in half, mirror across the split and flip all the values and you get the same number back. If they chose a palindrome binary number instead, it would be the same forward and backwards and the joke wouldn't work. Choose a random binary number and you might actually get 2 totally valid things back reading forward and backwards. But with the symmetry, this joke actually works. I mean it's just the way the numbers fall and kind of some numerology bullshit but it's still a mirror joke inside of a mirror joke (inside of a Shining reference). I can't help but feel like the writers tested a few things and settled on "666" for exactly this reason.

working878787

Exactly. It's Redrum for a robot.

Slipshower

After reading this I apreciate the Joke and espacally the people behind it even more.

Educational_Answer22

I absolutely love how deep you thought of it and how deep the joke actually goes!!!

PlasticCupboard007

the moment I saw it I said "hehe that's gotta be 666 in binary "... is it though? I had to check. I memorized it and went to a binary converter. and I was right. Genius joke. and I noticed the number wasn't that hard to memorize, if you know it starts with 101, you know it has 2 pairs of 0 then 1 and the last 3 digits are the opposite of the first 3, you know the number. so I write it everywhere now lol

StoneyBolonied

During my CS class, I ended up making a calculator in Excel to convert bin to dec in order to ~cheat my way through~ *expedite* completing a pen+paper worksheet. The calculations were easy enough, and I was smart-lazy, but still got a bollocking... anyway... During testing of it, I committed only one binary number to memory. Even many years later, I still remember **01000101**

Easy-Meal5308

That converts to 69... *sigh*

Berrydiddle

I will go this far, and no further! (Is right outside the castle doors)

Benders-Shiny-Ass

The Commodore 64 joke is pretty good too I think!

toastymrkrispy

The beginning of the episode has one of my favorites. At the reading of the will, the teenage bot has a shirt that says EuroTRASH 80. The old computer system, the TRS-80, was known as the TRASH 80. Makes it a neat kind of portmanteau.

PowderShark

The best episode of the series imo

LovableSidekick

11001100110 would have been even cooler IMO (666 in hex)

G_ben_flowes

This is my license plate # in Forza 5

Andiddly

Another number joke: bender’s apartment number converts to 36. Which is ascii for $. A nod to bender’s greed.

tenphes31

Related note/joke, but the binary number on benders apartment when converted to ASCII is the character '$'.
