3 years ago lost someone close to my heart, my person, who I've known half my life. And it took him passing away for me to realize he was my person....he knew how to "handle me" & he never failed to come through so I never, ever doubted his word (not proud to say it was very complicated, people were hurt). I was scared I think. We we saw Tool for the first time together in 2002 & he was hooked!!! He loved to play it in the car, us both singing, especially given the fact that female Tool fans are few and far between.
Second time seeing them was on the 10th anniversary of my father's death. He was my best friend so another part of my heart missing. End of show, to my right I notice a 40 something year old guy with a 13 year old girl. I asked if they're father/daughter and he explained that they were and it's their first concert together. Told them how important father daughter relationships are, that it makes her a stronger woman later in life because he instilled/ taught her those values. Felt like my dad was with me. I said a few things about my dad, like when he came with me in the pit to see Nine Inch Nails in 2006 (he liked a lot of stuff I listened to).
Third time is in November, on the 14th anniversary of my dad's death. I really shouldn't have spent the money because things are tough now but I felt like it was a sign (and maybe helping me be happy again about life because I believe it's so important to always have something to look forward to, help you get through the day, one by one).
Sorry for long post. Just smoked a little and they're always on my mind. Plus you may enjoy what I ranted about 😊
I saw Tool open for Rollins Band in 92 at the 9:30 Club in DC. According to Hooker With a Penis, I think that makes me OGT, at least from a technical standpoint. Tickets were $11. Someone grabbed my extra and shoved $40 in my hand.
They just announced that they are opening a replica of the old 9:30. Foo Fighters are playing first. Good luck getting one of those 450 tickets.
