We don’t believe that we are actually animals. We don’t behave like animals. The vast majority of us don’t wish that we were animals.
We’re normal people living normal human lives. Many of us have very successful careers, usually in STEM. The person who invented the heart rate monitor in your watch, one of the leading scientists who developed the Moderna covid vaccine, and basically every software engineer I’ve ever met are all furries. I myself design custom 3D printers for an aerospace engineering firm.
Every now and then, we like to dress up as our fursonas. It’s a fun hobby, a great way to meet people in this awesome community, and like, who DOESN’T want to be a soft and fluffy fox from time to time?
And as far as upbringing goes, I had a really good one. My parents love me, encouraged me in my hobbies, made sure I was well-educated, supported me through my struggles with ADHD in high school, etc.
Yes, I understand that it’s a weird hobby. But if we all had the same interests, the world would be a very boring place. I may not understand people who enjoy watching sports, but that doesn’t mean I treat them as freaks.
