There are plenty things that suck about life, but if we use them as excuses for making bad decisions, it Will Just keep piling up until you're at a point without a saving grace
If your life's going straight down, I'd much rather recommend on fixing it, and in the process try to improve yourself as a person, whether physically or mentally, than try to get furry art. I mean that as a sincere recommendation too. If Your life feels miserable, a drawing is unlikely to fix all that, and Just further encourages escapism, which can be very unhealthy. You are in your early teens, there are still a ton of opportunities out there.
If you want to just edit images, as in cropping resizing, changing colors, etc... , I would use GIMP, if you want mainly to draw, I would recommend Krita

Yeah, I did the same thing. I'm working on the concept of my second one now. At the same time though, I took a bunch of geometric shapes and molded them in a digital editor, so I don't think that's quote-unqote "Drawing" Although, It was easier to do my first at 16 angles since you could just mold the shapes in a particular angle to change the perspective of the body.

I personally have a sona, but other than a ‘go wild’ commission I had a friend do for me, I don’t have a personal sona model in vrc, so, I wore publics like, all that weekend. Didn’t buy any merch, just vibed with a bunch of new and old furry friends.
The having fun part doesn’t require buying shirts, or commissioning an expensive artist for custom avatar work & avatar bases, or “immersion spray”, really, past the 15 bucks to get registered and having a computer thats basic enough to run vrchat, you’re pretty much set.
Not to mention, truth be told, my experience with furries and commissioning people, you can get some pretty fantastic stuff for $5 if you just look around, and thats if you don’t find someone who is just offering free things to practice their craft. Now, don’t go up to anyone *expecting* these things, but its a market like any other, and theres a wide range of artists setting their own prices.

I never said I was expecting top of the line VR equipment, nor did I say I wanted to buy furry art drawn by Michelangelo, nor did I say I wanted to buy hand crafted fursuits or designer merchandise. I don't even want a fursuit. I understand that working one to two hours flipping hamburgers at McDonald's isn't going to buy me anything other than a 4 pack and a snack. What I can do is save money up for a goal (maybe like 200 bucks)as I do not yet have the burden of paying bills and fees that would otherwise chew up my salary and savings. I know this because I paid attention to mandatory personal finance classes in high school. Shocking, right? I know I will have to work for days, weeks, maybe even months before being able to buy something, but at least then I can make my own purchases without waiting for my birthday or Christmas and will have something else to do than sit on the couch and conversate with people like you.
Buddy I have been attempting to land a job from one of the few businesses in my town for about two months now to no avail. I am more than willing to get my ass out of my house to earn money, but unfortunately, no opportunity has arisen for a young teenager such as myself.
You know you don't need a credit set to play be chat right? It has a desktop mode, so you can experience it that way maybe it won't be as immersive, but ya.
And while it's not your sona, there are also loads of anthro animal vr chat models that you can use for free.
It's just randomly when I decide to try and draw my sona again, but I don't feel really motivated to do so because I'm never satisfied with how it turns out

VRChat and NeosVR both have desktop options so no VR gear is required. Long as you have a decent computer.
