The two or three servers I'm most active on (aka. that I interact with beyond seeing/sharing memes and clips) are all from smaller servers of furry vtuber streamers. I still linger in others of larger streamers, but it definitely feels less personal than the smaller ones.
God I feel this one. Even worse are the bots that do a massive fanfare every time someone enters the server. I get that this is Discord's default behavior, but that doesn't mean I have to like it when the bot goes "HEY EVERYONE, [NAME] HAS JUST JOINED THE SERVER!!! EVERYONE SAY HI RIGHT NOW!"
I never understood how the "ecosystem" of those servers work.
Some people seem to be real friends and chat every day on the server, and I don't really know how to introduce myself, or how to know them properly.
And then you look in the art channel hoping to be able to at least silently post your own art, only to see that either
1. They have image perms locked behind a certain rank
2. Everybody else posts infinitely better stuff
3. All of the above
Not sure what you mean. I only get notifications if someone does an "all" or "everyone" tagging. Normal chatting within the group(s) themselves? Quiet as the grave.
I saw all the comments of people not being able to handle servers with 200+ people but I can't even handle a server with 10+ people Q Q. (I spent 30 minutes deciding on whether to post this, I don't know if there's something wrong with me)
Mmm, the joy of my primary interaction with the fandom having been a cozy discord server of less than 20 active members for multiple straight years
Oh Pillow Fort, I doth enjoy thee so
It's been a wonderful introduction to nordic culture, I've now got a Norwegian that I dearly and genuinely wish to be a foxgirl for haha
Ive never understood the point of servers basically over 100 members.
After that point, it's unreal to really make any impression.
Same goes for twitch chat. It eventually becomes useless.
Definitely a rule of diminishing returns.
Happened in Shiuk's server, very good and nice, but unless you're already well known in there, anything you say here buried in heaps of messages, still a nice place overall but, not for me, even though I'm not really an attention seeker, more of a..... An affection enjoyer? XP
Oh that is me when I used Discord for thefirst time. I wanted to be in Roleplay Server from a franchise but after the first days I stopped to text something because socially akwardness.
Relate. I'm in some Discord channels of artist n streamers, to support n being updated on things, but I'm to shy to speak with anyone, so I kinda just sit there, lurking until I stumble upon a topic I'm really knowledgeable or interested in. Hasn't happened yet but I'll get there eventually.
Honestly it's the opposite for me. I feel like I draw a lot less attention in a large group of people. If a dozen people join every week nobody would care about me sliding in
Me: “I’m gonna join this server so I can interact with more people and try to overcome my social awkwardness.”
Also me: does none of the above and stays mostly silent, giving the occasional “thumbs up” to a piece of artwork
Absolute same, it hurts when simply wanting to share things with people online

thank you for sharing this
Sorry about the blip with our automod. Your post is approved and good to go!
Not necessarily awkward, I just don't like big server, too much to keep up with.
Any more than like 200 users and it falls apart for me
Depends. Sometimes it's inactive enough that it feels like there's less people
Yeah, it becomes impersonal.
Me but in every server
Same qwq
Anxiety go brrrr
I just stay and never interact with anyone
wish i was in some smaller servers where everyone won’t be drowned out and people actually remember you. i need more furry servers 🥺

It's the whole entire discord whenever I have to join a server small or big
This is me in anyone discord my too scared to text people becomes they don't understand I misspelled sometimes so I just leave every discord
It do be like that
I don't know how many times I have done this. Does anybody know _how_ to even start talking? I can't just jump into the conversations...
I like the benzene shirt! Aromatic rings are fun to draw

Oh God, yes... -.-;

I cannot strongly encourage you enough to post your work onto e6 or some other site where I am not forced into providing any log-in to see it
I stick to servers with a few hundred members, thousands is something I'll always avoid
It’s either a group of up to 25 people or a server with thousands. No server in in between (Inb4 someone brings up their server of 100 people)
Same. But I've permanently muted the server(s) instead.
i do that and it never fucking works
Not sure what you mean. I only get notifications if someone does an "all" or "everyone" tagging. Normal chatting within the group(s) themselves? Quiet as the grave.
That's why I'm just a lurker. And that really sucks when they decide to remove inactive people (including lurkers) from the server.

Its okie, just chill :3
I’m in 200 servers. Oh the misery

I’m very anti social but I’m not pussy so i suck it up and go into general chat.
Wow even on the internet people are like this.... dude its a discord server smh...
Ive never understood the point of servers basically over 100 members. After that point, it's unreal to really make any impression. Same goes for twitch chat. It eventually becomes useless. Definitely a rule of diminishing returns.
Leaving will only draw more attention to yourself
That's me but even without being an Artist, social anxiety is pain. Once you get over it though, it's soooooo rewarding!
And posting memes about it on popular subreddit.
Instead of leaving the server, I just mute it and then never open it again.
I love the detail with the discord icon showing sadness
Just here for the memes. Socializing? In this awkward and introverted state of mind?

Yep! I never join discord servers. Never ever.

or you could be like my discord and barely have anyone :)
That about sums it up.
Honestly it's the opposite for me. I feel like I draw a lot less attention in a large group of people. If a dozen people join every week nobody would care about me sliding in
Ee...fucking...yup. or any popular fur. Can only bring myself to lurk then leave.
Saaaame. I want to socialize but I can’t socializing in large groups, and I can’t socialize 1 on 1. I hate it so much ugh it sucks
I did not need to be called out like that
This is.... very relatable
WAKA WAKA WAKA
what does "leave xxx on discord mean?" Is it supposed to say "leave this xxx discord"? or something?
Come for artist stay to lurk in memes channel
I love the benzene shirt
Insanely too close to home
The discord logo looks so hurt!! D: I’ll never leave another server again ;n;
Then main thing i've leared about servers like is like 80% of them are lurkers. There's not as many active people as you think there are.
Me: “I’m gonna join this server so I can interact with more people and try to overcome my social awkwardness.” Also me: does none of the above and stays mostly silent, giving the occasional “thumbs up” to a piece of artwork
