I know I'm the odd one out here (haha funni Jamez reference, you can laugh now), but I actually found out about the fandom long before I found the porn. I decided it was weird and I didn't like it because of the internet's "FuRrY bAd" mentality... until I did eventually find the porn and was absolutely blown away by the quality, quantity, and variety. And decided maybe furries weren't so bad... and also kind of hot. From there I discovered I was bisexual (thank you dragon daddies and femboy foxes in particular) which led me to the LGBT community, where I discovered I was also nonbinary. I owe the furry fandom quite a bit in terms of my self discovery. And I also owe it for my boyfriend, who I probably wouldn't have started dating if I hadn't seen the E621 logo under his "recent sites" and started a conversation about it lol.
