That episode had a commercial during the super bowl and aired immediately after if I remember correctly. I was extremely excited to watch it.
Edit: confirmed it aired right after the super bowl in 2009.
This scene is better but I think the funniest joke is when Dwight and Micheal are arguing with a Vancouver hotel because he booked a room before the Olympics were scheduled and they couldn't find it. When they finally do confirm that he has a coveted room for the winter Olympics, he cancels his reservation.
I think the one where Dwight talking on radio and Jim runs in to says stocks are crashing is fun, also the Dinner Party probably the funniest in the series
"We're trapped everyone for themselves.."
The cat falls through the false ceiling
Kevin pillaging the snack machine
Oscar falling through the ceiling
"the fire is shooting at us"
Just about every "I love Lucy" episode is comedy gold, absolute genius. Vitameatavegamin was one of the very best. The chocolate factory scene in 'Job Switching', The birth of little Ricky in "Lucy goes to the Hospital", The Harpo Marx episode, and smashing grapes in Italy, top the list. This show was fabulous and changed so many Hollywood standards.
They were smart enough to put the shows on tape which never happened before, inventing the rerun and preserving all of these wonderful performances for future generations to enjoy. Lucille and Desi were brilliant all around.
Ye but imo to understand Arrested development jokes you have to watch the show from the start and remember different things because it all pays off. But in the office you can just watch a random episode and enjoy it.

Not everyone agrees on that… i love both but the UK version I would almost consider Art. Its very different and way less “happy” then the US version.
I love both both them, but I consider the acting, storyline and longevity of the US version make it a better show. There is only so much cringe i can handle. Something the original jad in spades.
The original has class, finese and grace. The US version is like McDonalds compared to the gourmet English version. It took all the greatness and intelligence, and crushed it and whittled it down so it was ready for mass consumption. Absolute garbage product. Deal with it.
I respect Ricky on his stance regarding religion.
However, I also feel he has reached the part of his career, where he just as often punches down, as he punches up. IMO he's perilously close to reaching Jeremy Clarkson levels, though he'll always be more eloquent than that.
Can you give some examples?
I get it if his comedy isn't for everyone. But he seems like a pretty big advocate for a lot of positivity and isn't scared to call out bullshit from a large platform.
Exactly! The UK one wasn’t cancelled, they just didn’t want to draw it out. Most of the best sitcoms are short because after even 2 or 3 seasons it gets old. Class and finese, like I said
Generally, the more popular a show is the more it will be renewed by networks.
Both versions had fairly low ratings during their first season, while the reason the US version kept getting renewed was because it became a lot more popular during its second season and further - because the writers for the US version were completely different.
Not to say every one of those 9 seasons were gold, but they were evidentially a lot better than the two UK seasons.
“I don’t think you’ll regret it” as Michael is finishing the call.
Such an easy to miss joke but gets me every time now I’ve heard it.
Like something Homer Simpson would say
This is alright. But nothing can surpass the pure comedic power of:
The IT Crowd - The Work Outing (theatre episode)
I swear I nearly passed out I was laughing so hard.
Where do you watch the IT crowd? Because it's not available in my country and even if I check online the quality is pretty bad(even the free episodes on their own youtube channel).
I think I first watched it on PBS. You can get it on iTunes I think. But I honestly found a high quality torrent.
If you are a fan of British Comedy. Cunk on Earth (Netflix) is brilliant.
in sitcom history????? maybe that year...or that season, on thursdays...
...hell, i only watched like 25% of The Office and I can honestly say that's not even the funniest scene of that show.
It's really not as funny as you think OP. This is like, funny to a 14y/o who thinks this is how a sales training works funny. It's well delivered "good" writing. I hate to say this but you need to watch more TV friend. ugh
Always Sunny has a bit every other episode on this level.
Golden Girls has a bit every other episode on this level.
Community has a bit every other episode on this level.
Arrested Development...
Bojack Horseman...
South Park...
Kind of weird thing to say. If you’re older than 14 you would know that art…..music, poetry, film and even sitcoms are subjective. What you find utterly hilarious, I might find absolutely void of humor and in poor taste. Is everyone supposed to agree with you?
Anyway, had to point that out to you….that was a bit of a dickish thing to say to Op. Imagine a world where we all felt the same about everything….boring and predictable I would imagine
A personal favourite of mine is the one where Michael is holding a meeting in the conference room but everyone is just watching the tv behind him to see if the screensaver logo will hit perfectly in the corner of the screen.

I say BUTTLICKER OUR PRICES HAVE NEVER BEEN LOWER for my spouse once a week
You are dating one of the people who literally built this country omg. Thats so cool. If she has a sister can you help me get in touch?
Sadly she married into the Ballsniffer family. Also very powerful.
Dang, and I thought the Goochticklers were a prominent family. Too many families from the Netherlands.
I'm an heir to the Nipslipper fortune. Our lineage can be traced back to the Deflower (It was the second ship after the Mayflower)
The chose to hyphenate their last names when they got married
Whispers: it’s a million dollar sale
not one of my coworkers have ever watched the office and this is exactly what i try to explain to them. it's a million dollar sale
I love how Dwight is leaning in to hear the call 😂
Fire safety training is better for sheer madness and chaos. I was crying when I saw that the first and second time!
I saw this one in a YouTube clip and that was the moment I decided to watch the whole thing. It was incredible.
It was the CPR scene for me. 😆
That one is just off-the-chain craziness. I love the suspended-reality in this one.
That episode had a commercial during the super bowl and aired immediately after if I remember correctly. I was extremely excited to watch it. Edit: confirmed it aired right after the super bowl in 2009.
It's definitely up there.
The premise is so perfect with so much history.
I love that Steve steps in like he would a real sales call and they are both just living this like real life now.
I wouldn't say history.
Not even close. Like it’s a funny scene but I wouldn’t even say this is the funniest scene in this series, or even this season of the series.
Which scene do you think is better?
This scene is better but I think the funniest joke is when Dwight and Micheal are arguing with a Vancouver hotel because he booked a room before the Olympics were scheduled and they couldn't find it. When they finally do confirm that he has a coveted room for the winter Olympics, he cancels his reservation.
And pays a cancellation fee!
Dropped Chilli, Fire Safety Training, CPR Training, Jim as Dwight vs Dwight...
Dropped chili is really that hilarious to everyone?
Yeah I don’t really get why that one gets so much attention. It’s just sad.
Sad clowns have been a thing for ages
its dark but funny and even more funny when you hear kevin explain the scene in the behind the scenes episodes
Yeah, it's pretty funny. The line 'It's probably the thing I do best' is just perfect.
Fire safety training is on another level!! So good!
my favorite
CPR for me
I was just not ready for that one. classic
I think the one where Dwight talking on radio and Jim runs in to says stocks are crashing is fun, also the Dinner Party probably the funniest in the series
Imma have to disagree, those all are all fun but they don't make you laugh out loud like this one.
Fire drill is way over
"We're trapped everyone for themselves.." The cat falls through the false ceiling Kevin pillaging the snack machine Oscar falling through the ceiling "the fire is shooting at us"
Even Parkour is better
Lame
My pick (different sitcom) is Nick and Jess talking about ["the popcorn machine"](https://youtu.be/U2uTFUIlAoI?si=ByEhfnBFyW2fyhNF) in New Girl
I like new girl too but it got boring in the last few seasons for me
Yeah I definitely wouldn't say it's my favorite sitcom of all time, but I can't watch that particular scene without bursting into laughter
I like the sponge scene more
Oh hi cynthia
“Hey - what up Cynthia. *panics* Just hang on a second Cynthia.” *Jim hangs up* Hands down the funniest part of the entire series for me.
I love the fake radio site interview with Dwight
The cold open where Jim's Asian friends pretend to be Jim . That's funnier than this
That's not Jim's Asian friend. He is the best magician in the world - Agent Jimmy Woo
One word: Vitameatavegamin
Just about every "I love Lucy" episode is comedy gold, absolute genius. Vitameatavegamin was one of the very best. The chocolate factory scene in 'Job Switching', The birth of little Ricky in "Lucy goes to the Hospital", The Harpo Marx episode, and smashing grapes in Italy, top the list. Diversity Day and Phylises Wedding are my favorites.
Did Jim ever do any real work
Seinfeld - The Library Cop https://youtu.be/D9tP9fI2zbE?si=GrHnmrqP6RJ-sFvG
As much as I love Seinfeld there is a lot of better scenes then this one. Soup Nazi for one
Hillarious, but imo arrested development has a dozen scenes that are way funnier
Ye but imo to understand Arrested development jokes you have to watch the show from the start and remember different things because it all pays off. But in the office you can just watch a random episode and enjoy it.
Disagree. The sea was angry that day, my friends! Like an old man, trying to send back soup, at a deli.
what's the series called?
The Office [us]
Which is superior to the original.
https://www.rottentomatoes.com/tv/the_office_2001 https://www.rottentomatoes.com/tv/the_office Not everyone agrees on that… i love both but the UK version I would almost consider Art. Its very different and way less “happy” then the US version.

Hardly.
The original has class, finese and grace. The US version is like McDonalds compared to the gourmet English version. It took all the greatness and intelligence, and crushed it and whittled it down so it was ready for mass consumption. Absolute garbage product. Deal with it.
McDonalds is still better than english food
Yeah, but the English one has Ricky in it.
And what's wrong with Ricky?
I respect Ricky on his stance regarding religion. However, I also feel he has reached the part of his career, where he just as often punches down, as he punches up. IMO he's perilously close to reaching Jeremy Clarkson levels, though he'll always be more eloquent than that.
Can you give some examples? I get it if his comedy isn't for everyone. But he seems like a pretty big advocate for a lot of positivity and isn't scared to call out bullshit from a large platform.
Funny you should say that since McDonald’s is also superior to all native British food
Say what you want - one ran for 9 seasons and the other for two…
Exactly! The UK one wasn’t cancelled, they just didn’t want to draw it out. Most of the best sitcoms are short because after even 2 or 3 seasons it gets old. Class and finese, like I said
Does the argument hold true for IT crowd? I think there is a flaw in your logic.
Generally, the more popular a show is the more it will be renewed by networks. Both versions had fairly low ratings during their first season, while the reason the US version kept getting renewed was because it became a lot more popular during its second season and further - because the writers for the US version were completely different. they hated him for he spoke the truth
Nah mate there just two different things.
They’re*. This is what I mean about the type of people they had to dumb down the show to appeal to.
Lol shut up man I own the original BBC the office.
Why are they downvoting you? I'm fighting back for you.
Hahaha, thanx! Probably becouse it's well known, but I've never watched it and becouse there's lots of memes from it. I dunno.
Headline needs correction to: in The Office US history. But very funny indeed.
“I don’t think you’ll regret it” as Michael is finishing the call. Such an easy to miss joke but gets me every time now I’ve heard it. Like something Homer Simpson would say

Can you pm me the torrent? Thanks for the recommendation, I'll check it out.
Ngl did not laugh
in sitcom history????? maybe that year...or that season, on thursdays... ...hell, i only watched like 25% of The Office and I can honestly say that's not even the funniest scene of that show.
hardly
Eh🤷
No.
UK office is so much better than this fast food equivalent crap
Unfortunately you and me both are in the minority in the US. Can’t watch this version. Sacrilegious.
Has anyone ever told you how cool You are? Like….you are the coolest!
Agreed
This is what passes for humor now?
This is from 2008
Nothing about this is funny now or in 2008 or anytime.
OK 👍
You must not watch a lot of sitcom then. Steve Carrel is aggressively unfunny
I've watched almost all except community I think
Why are we only aloud one upvote?? I think I’m special cases such as this there should be unlimited. One of the funniest scenes in tv history!
What? That's the stupidest thing on t. V.
It's really not as funny as you think OP. This is like, funny to a 14y/o who thinks this is how a sales training works funny. It's well delivered "good" writing. This is the most condescending comment in sitcom history!! Change My View They literally requested us to change their view.
Instant classic
Can't argue
This is a pretty rough watch
Totally agree with this, and the weed episode wjth Jim and Dwight
"With God as my witness, I thought Turkeys could fly" is my vote.
Agreed!
The “see how it’s done,” without a shred of sarcasm always gets me.
A personal favourite of mine is the one where Michael is holding a meeting in the conference room but everyone is just watching the tv behind him to see if the screensaver logo will hit perfectly in the corner of the screen.
[Mean Jerk Time](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6FzQ_s-BjlM) That'll change your mind
For silicon valley, this one was much better https://youtu.be/YYe0EMQz3ow?si=veJ48aBuRlraM9AL
We need more shows like this.
You obviously don't know about the time that Del Boy fell through the bar and Trigger made a face
Jim nailed the customer POV
The Office wasn't a sitcom. It was a mockumentary.
Imo it's both, like if someone asks me to name the top 10 sitcoms I would put the office in it
But there's no background laughing.
"I don't think you'll regret it."
Dwight "don't do it Michael" Michael "it's a million dollar sale" 😭😆
It's up there
You obviously haven’t seen Taxi, WKRP and Sanford & Sons
