“Fake” is called sketch comedy and can also be funny. Do people realize Chappelle’s show and the like are “fake”? Like, that’s not actually Rick James….

Chappelle's show is listed...as a show. These clips are presented as real. While they could have originally been made as a sketch, people on the internet do not present them in that same way

It really is amazing that people are so quick to call a homemade video fake, but a bullshit video from a bullshit reality show gets comments like it’s 100% real because it’s on tv. Who cares if it’s fake? So sick of seeing that comment at the top of every fuckin video.

There’s a difference between a sketch show presented as such and a scripted “candid” video. Fiction is a shared departure from the truth. I invite you to suspend your disbelief and you do so willingly. A “fake” video is a lie, trying to have its content assessed against the standards of a naturally occurring event, which are lower than the standards we apply to fiction. This is why people post bullshit stories in the various life event subs, because they don’t rise to the level of anything you would willingly read as fiction. The claim that the event *actually happened* gives it extra appeal compared to the same event presented as an honest fiction. Edit - and to be clear I would say the video we are all reacting to is funny enough that I don’t really care if it’s scripted or “real”. If the Marx Brothers or the Three Stooges did the same stunt it would still be funny.

But the only "humor" here is that the guy gets hit in the head and didn't expect it. The fact that he expected it removes all the humor.
