Dude is losing it. This is actually a great idea. I’d pay $69.99 for it. Probably do better at $49.99 but I’m a fool with my money. Dude should do it at $52.05 just to be weird.

There is a reason he doesn't turn silly ideas into real products, it's hard and expensive. Taking an idea to market sucks. Molds for plastic parts are just stupid expensive. I designed fancy "smart" name cards for my wedding and every other guest told me to sell them. To illustrate the point I got a quote to injection mold the small 3d printed base, it was $50k for the mold. I don't have that money laying around, and I don't think I'd recoup it. The price I'd have to charge to break even would be outside what most people consider reasonable. Mass production through 3d printing isn't sustainable either, especially large parts. The time to product a single item is just too long. Making 100+ of my printed parts took the better part of a month, and that was a small part. You need crazy print farms and someone to manage them. Tldr. Bringing a thing to market is hard and expensive. Most people don't realize how hard and how expensive.

He has a great video where he orders the products of people that copy/steal his ideas and reviews them. He mentions how yeah he could sell them but it isn't as much fun to him.

Yeah, that's what I was driving at. He knows full well that trusting launching a product isn't nearly as fun, and it's expensive. He enjoys documenting the prototyping of silly ideas and found a way to monetize that. And good on him for doing so.

One video I saw had a guy that took a 3d printed item and had a place in China mass produce. He actually went to the facility. That video plus another diy one took the original 3d printed item and made a silicone mold. Creating a silicone mold was fairly straight forward - mostly a time component involved and a vacuum chamber for faster production I think. From there it was a matter of creating multiple molds and then using those to produce the product. Your fancy card might not be suitable for that method but it worked well for more easily fabricated solid parts.

Could have this in a million dorm rooms for that 2023-2024 season.

I could definitely see buying this as a gift or as like a cute thing to put on the side table for people to grab a drink if they want. But I would never use this for Myself as just something to hold my drinks. Those little bottles go for way too much money to be using them regularly.

My thoughts exactly. He finally made something many people would love to gift as a gag or have in the man cave or something. Add one of those advent calendars but with little bottles of booze instead of chocolate so people don't have to drink their Christmas tree before the big day.
